WARNING - IF YOU PLAN TO BUY THE MINI OR MINI 2 THEN DOWNLOAD THE DJI FLY APP FIRST!!! Aldryn this review is very helpful but I have hit a wall trying to download the DJI Fly app on my Android phone. Google have removed it from the Playstore (tho’ it’s still in the Appstore). I downloaded it from the DJI site* (over-riding all of my phone's security warnings....) but it won't install. It appears that this is an issue that DJI are struggling to deal with - their only advice so far is that if your phone is not the right spec you will need to replace it with one from their (limited) list of compatible phones. *(It’s also on the Galaxy Store)

I bought a Mavic Mini Fly More Combo approx 3yrs. ago. The controller they sent looks just like the one they sell with the Mini 2. What's up with that? I finally retired and someday,soon,I hope,may get a chance to try and fly it again.
Yes you can, you connect the other white lead in box from the USB socket on the charger to the controller and it will charge the controller in sequence if you have battery fitted in the charger or it will go straight t charging the controller if there are no batteries.

Excellent video. I really appreciate the level of detail. When experts do instructions for beginners they often leave out things that are second nature, such as specifically how to remove the gimbal cover. Your video gave me what I needed to know.
Brilliant vids Aldryn, exactly what I needed. Ordered mine and awaiting delivery following a fly away experience with a very cheap unit, lesson learnt. I shall watch both several times while awaiing delivery, I dont want to watch another drone disappeare into the distance, not a pleasant experience. I do not want to remove strong phone cover so I want to use extended USB connection cables so my phone is more handy , the cables which I received from Mavic combo they are too short . have you used any extended cables with male-female connection or OTG? please recommend. Thank you

Hi Aldryn, I‘m Siggi from Germany. Thank you for those videos that helped me a lot. But I have two more questions for you. 1.) Can I fly two Mavic Mini with one account? Or do I need for every Mavic Mini a different account? 2.) Can I fly two Mavic Mini at the same time without getting in trouble because maybe of the remote control? Or does a remote control only works with the drone it came with. I just wanna know because I already got the standard version. But after a few days I found out that I made a big mistake! For just 100 bucks more it’s always better to buy the „Fly More“ version. So I ordered the „Fly More“ version directly from DJI in China and hopefully I get it the next week. Maybe my wife and I can fly then together. But I wanna make sure it works and don’t get any trouble because of two same drones and remote controls. Thx 4 your help 👍

New Drone Pilot... and thanks. Getting the firmware update gave me control over the video settings and more. I've enjoyed and learned much from your vids. I'm a professional photographer wanting to add quad shots to my repertoire. You should do one on the DJI Simulator... pretty cool, and some of the sims they have will make you know you need to practice!

This is a good video for newbies but unfortunately I came here for 2 things that I still don’t know. - how do you turn the batteries on? - How do you know how much charge is left in the batteries when they’re on a shelf? Other dji batteries have leds on the battery. Is this gone?
I got mine last week and i can tell you: the batteries don't need to be turned on. And there are no LEDs on the batteries to indicate the level. But when you place in batterie inside the drone. Shortly press the butten on the drone and the leds on the drone will tell you how much power is left in it. Or do the same inside the hub wich you get with fly more combo. Hope this will help you.
I got the Mini for $419 and the Mini Combo for $539 , a $120 difference ..... The Combo gives you : a case $20 , 2 batteries $100 , 2 Pair props $20 , Cage $40 and Charger $80 ..... So an extra $120 gets you $260 necessary extras . That makes the Combo the Better Deal !
Just watched your video. June 30, 2021. After getting the DJI Fly app to work, after two try’s everything feel into place. Had a DJI Phantom 2 years ago. With a GoPro 2.. only got about a dozen flights before issues came about, $1,200 down the drain. Nothing wrong with the Phantom just the Gimbal issue. Gave it to another flyer. I’m new, very new. Question: Altitude is set to 400’ on Mavic mini. I’m on an overlook in West Virginia mountains. The overlook is a long way to the bottom. If I fly out over the overlook will my Mavic DROP like a rock until it’s only 400’ above ground? What exactly will happen. Only owned my Mavic mini 12 hours. Thanks in advance for your advice
Thank you for your video. I just received my Mavic Mini today and will be planning on using a iPad mini with a tablet holder attached to the controller. My phone(samsung j7 star) does not download the dji fly app. Dji suppory advised me to buy a new phone that is compatible. Do you have any advice on how I can use my current phone? I just picked my mini up today from best buy and I'm thinking of returning it if I cant get it to work with my phone.😑.
Not finding the app in google play store. Looked for a long time all throughout the day with no luck. Found it on iphone, no problem. The only video that i could find on this issue said to go to the play store dji go 4 app download page and scroll down to other dji apps and it should be there...Nope. Every other dji app comes up, just not the fly app...? What the hell...? Can dji make anything easy? I searched on 4 different android devices with no luck.Waiting on mine from DJI! Cant wait!

Aldryn, I understand the micro connection can be damaged if you don’t insert the plug correctly. How will I know which orientation is correct? Also, is it ok to use charging hub for first charge? Can’t do that with the Air 2. Thanks.
Great video. Just a FYI I just got a mini today followed your directions but app said controller can't connect to aircraft. Tried 4 times starting over same thing. Uninstalled and reinstalled app still nothing. I did online tech support chat and after I turn everything on you hold both on buttons on remote and mini simultaneously 4 seconds or so and it linked them together. BTW I am way new beginner. Thanks again. I'll be watching more.
I wish I had realized the Fly More set isn't sold separately. Figured I'll first buy the basics and get the goodies later on, but it's just in the combo. Oh well. Just got my Mavic Mini today.. too late to go test it out and -1 celsius outside so wanted to try and at least hover it a bit inside to see how it does, but it can't seem to connect to GPS at all. First it didn't even find any satellites but after being on for a good 10 minutes it had found 6. Will have to try and go outside away from all the interference to calibrate it tomorrow, at least if it's not negative degrees or wet outside.

I just got a Mavic Mini Fly More Combo. Quick question about the charging process. Is it safe to Charge either the battery hub or controller with a different power adapter than the one that comes in the box? It came with two USB cables, but only one DJI power adaptor. I would like to be able to charge the battery hub and the controller at the same time. Is it okay to charge with an Apple power adaptor or would that damage the battery life of either components?

Question please, my mini 2 showed up today. What protective cover for my IPhone 8 Plus will allow me to install and connect my phone c/w cover to the controller? I have a LifeProof cover on my phone now. It is a very tight fit in the mount and the plug will not make a connection. I would rather not remove my cover every time I fly. Thanks..
I know that a person needs a part 107 license if you do drone videos and your RUclips channel is monitized, but do I need a part 107 license if I plan on doing drone videos and my RUclips channel isn't monitized and never will be . In the United States
Does the controller have lights to show it's charged.? Using a 20w Apple charger it's usb c and basic mavic mini came with the correct cable to controller. I called dji and the rep said it's acceptable to use it. Dji instruction sheet is not easy to read. It's tiny.

Hello, how come the dji fly app is not available at the googleplay site? If the dji mini can be flown thru the controller only, how do we know if we need to calibrate the IMU and Compass and the procedure when all these can be done thru the app on the phone? The basic package does not include the charger for the battery, so the charging time really depends on the charger ratings unlike the one with them flymore combo where it includes the 18w charger, how many hours does it take to charge one battery in the hub and all three in the hub assuming that all batteries are about 5% (is it safe at 5%)? Since the batteries are intelligent batteries does this mean that at full charge, it will auto discharge to a safe level for storage within how many days of no use maybe due to bad weather, something important came up, or simply you forgot? Thanks!
If I drove the mavic mini really far away and loses connection and I hit to home, and it loses signal again and the app shuts off and so does the phone. Will it still return to home, please tell me, I won’t be driving my drone until I figure this out?
hi great video and thank you for sharing. Quick question I looked at the DJI website and they list a slightly different type of SD card than the one you suggested. Different in only one small specification. It may not matter but was curious?? One is a extreme pro A1 and the one on the dji site is a extreme a2 (missing the pro)...

Yes, definitely! The gimbal is very fragile, not something you want to risk breaking.
Took me awhile to figure out the controller port is a micro USB for charging and a phone connection port, good for all to know.

I have just bought the mini 2 and downloaded the app but when I tap to activate accept the conditions it asks for my email or phone number to register. I when I put either in it asks for password. This is as far as I can get as it says wrong email. I doesn't allow me to register.

Question please, my mini 2 showed up today. What protective cover for my IPhone 8 Plus will allow me to install and connect my phone c/w cover to the controller? I have a LifeProof cover on my phone now. It is a very tight fit in the mount and the plug will not make a connection. I would rather not remove my cover every time I fly. Thanks..
I know that a person needs a part 107 license if you do drone videos and your RUclips channel is monitized, but do I need a part 107 license if I plan on doing drone videos and my RUclips channel isn't monitized and never will be . In the United States

Does the controller have lights to show it's charged.? Using a 20w Apple charger it's usb c and basic mavic mini came with the correct cable to controller. I called dji and the rep said it's acceptable to use it. Dji instruction sheet is not easy to read. It's tiny.

Hello, how come the dji fly app is not available at the googleplay site? If the dji mini can be flown thru the controller only, how do we know if we need to calibrate the IMU and Compass and the procedure when all these can be done thru the app on the phone? The basic package does not include the charger for the battery, so the charging time really depends on the charger ratings unlike the one with them flymore combo where it includes the 18w charger, how many hours does it take to charge one battery in the hub and all three in the hub assuming that all batteries are about 5% (is it safe at 5%)? Since the batteries are intelligent batteries does this mean that at full charge, it will auto discharge to a safe level for storage within how many days of no use maybe due to bad weather, something important came up, or simply you forgot? If I drove the mavic mini really far away and loses connection and I hit to home, and it loses signal again and the app shuts off and so does the phone. Will it still return to home, please tell me, I won’t be driving my drone until I figure this out?

hi great video and thank you for sharing. Quick question I looked at the DJI website and they list a slightly different type of SD card than the one you suggested. Different in only one small specification. It may not matter but was curious?? One is a extreme pro A1 and the one on the dji site is a extreme a2 (missing the pro)...
