Further to the references to ones other half: while I was watching today's excellent episode, mine opened an eye from where she was napping on the sofa, and said, 'he's very calming' [as you were in the process of raiding the kitchen utensils] and promptly went back to sleep. Well of course mine's not bothered, I do all the cooking in this house and the kitchen is my domain. That's why I'm three years into planning my layout and still have nothing to show for it but a box of track!

I am the master of my kitchen and I have my own knives that my other half never ever uses. She has a set of knives that she uses on the rare occasions she does the cooking. I was making some hills for my little layout and thought I would use her carving knife, after all I have plenty of time to finish the job, wash and return the knife, the perfect crime. After the initial section my wife decided that she wanted a new chicken run and patio so my layout went onto the back burner. Fast forward a couple of months and we decide to clear out some of the junk our daughter had put in the garage. One problem, I had forgotten about the knife and as we cleared a work table, my wife spotted the offending item and I had some fast talking to do!

As for suggestions for vids twofold I'm quiet interested in the wiring aspect for the point motors on the new section in particular the power supply you use and connecting everything up to I assume bus wires that go around the whole layout?
Secondly I've been racking my brains at how to turn around a train locomotive, do you use a turnstile? Shunter? Or a custom section of track? And can it be automated in a dcc layout?

Bravo maestro! I've spent hours painting rocks with latex to produce unique moulds...scenic ready-made aren't half tempting. Cheers for another inspiring piece

Hi Charlie, that cutting is looking very proto. Oops realistic! Finish off with a bit of static grass and it'll be the bee's knees. As you said, it is amazing how a bit of grass layer transforms the scene. Regards till next Friday, Bobby 'T'.

That is looking great, Charlie! Really turned out looking good. With regards to drying times, if you know anyone that owns a dehumidifier, see if you can borrow it, and then leave it running full blast overnight in your railway room, it will make a massive difference to drying times. ( I don't have room for a tumble dryer, so i hang all my damp washing in the spare bedroom, then i just close the door with the dehumidifier running full blast, and a few hours later the washing is bone dry - so should work well in helping the drying times on your railway if your in a rush).

Another great video. When your using pinkgrip etc, a good tip is to stick some kebab skewers at angles dotted around, down through the layers of celotex to lock them in place while it does it's thing. just cut them to length so the don't protrude from the surface. Colouring plaster products is great, you need to go twice as dark with the initial colour versus what you want the finish to look like, be it scupltamould or plaster of Paris. I've messed around quite a bit with this trying to make "muddy earth" that I could put wheel ruts & tyre tread marks in. Love the polo's now you have extra's to get paint n plaster on! lol I look forward to your Friday video's now, keep them coming!

Been looking at several videos of yours Charlie, and I have become a real fan . Love the presentation style, relaxed and clear. I cannot get to my loft layout because of a small infirmity and cannot make the stairs at the mo. But as a proxy, your vids are an excellent substitute. That said I will keep watching. Thanks, Marc ,

Hi Charlie - a great job with the rock/cliff face. I found that by inserting a couple of 1.5inch galvanised nails, head first into the drying plaster, when set, I could push the nails into the foam, which then held the rock face in position. This enabled the various piece to be positioned if various positions before the No Nails (in my case) held the rock face in it's final position.
