John, in my humble opinion , you were absolutely right about the slap, You saw t and you let the police know and they spoke to the young lady in question, there are very few reasons where a slap is acceptable.
I just love the opening Red Phone-box scene, seven youngsters; plenty of room left for you & me 🤣🤣 That trooper did a marvelous job managing that big horse.
Isn't Luxembourg the horse that ex trooper Ellis said no one could mount at horseguards? If so, she did well to get on him, sorry I can't check the video as it is members only now. Thanks for a great video.
Hi John just wondered if you have a private message site as I am nervous about it going public . Love your videos and relationship you have with all our guards 😘
John, for someone who will probably never make it to the UK I want to thank you for having all the awesome buildings on your blogs. It always amazes me how beautiful they all are. Your comments are always welcome, it makes me feel like I’m there. I don’t understand how some people would want to spray paint the buildings. They should find them and have them clean what they have ruined. Unfortunately, we 😢 have the same problem here across the pond. Keep on blogging John! ❤😂😊
There is no respect for horses or guards.
They should not be allowed to come so close.
Trooper doing an amazing job considering she is only controlling the horse with one hand
The horse guards are very well trained and their organization has been doing it for literally centuries. They are as experienced and professional an organization that handles horses on a daily basis as any on earth.
The female trooper did a fantastic job of controlling that lovely horse Luxembourg!!
The lady guardsman is truly a skilled horseman .. she never panics and every time one of the horses gets upset you can tell by her body language that she tells the horse ..hey now stop we’re not having this kind of behaviour ..and she takes no nonsense especially with unruly tourists …I’m pretty well built ..and even I wouldn’t mess with her ..I have not doubt she would soon put me in my place …she one tough cookie ❤
The amazing control of the female Trooper on Luxembourg as the Traveller horses cantered up Whitehall was something to behold! Excellent horsewoman, indeed.
The way that horse was pulling the trooper forward like that when it pulled it's head, it's a wonder it didn't pull her shoulder from it's socket, the force is tremendous, she did a marvelous job especially one handed.
Horse is a prey animal. If those horses are trotting moving fast the horse's instinct says if they're running I should be running too. I'm not safe.😮
True, the noise was quite alarming too. That lady trooper is always so calm and patient with her horses, I think she would have stayed if it hadn't have been for the trotting horses and rigs coming back nearer to the horses. The other horse didn't seem phased at all. They all have different personalities
@@annbeirne9583 Indeed. That's something else that people ignore. As if 'training' can eradicate an individual horse's own individual temperament. Some are calm and amiable and will tolerate the crowds and the handling, but these are relatively few and far between. Some will endure it and head toss and try to avoid the hands, and some will actively try to defend their space.
I think they just need to stop all of it. Just put a barrier up they cannot cross. People do not respect the opportunity given, so put a stop to it.
@@willothewispl- Consider the purpose of the horse guards. Hint they are not primarily there to protect the royals or the residence. They are a tourist attraction and large part of why people visit London. Excessive security for the “guards” could well cost enough tourism dollars to result in their budget being terminated.
The lady trooper is calm, and the horse senses that she is in control, and he subsides.
Beautiful Luxembourg!! New horse & he didn’t look too happy did he.
Lady trooper is a brilliant horsewoman 🙌
I love this lady trooper! Skilled, fierce, intelligent.
London has some beautiful architecture.
Yes they do!
Absolutely agree I would love to visit there
I went to GB for vacation with my parents as a teen. I was just totally amazed at the age of everything. You can visit a pub that's been there for hundreds of years. I was impressed by graffiti carved in wood dated in the 1700's. Amazing country. The food is better now. I was there in the mid 1970's. One of the luncheons I remember had a piece of roast beef and potatoes fixed 3 different ways with brown gravy. I wondered where was the green stuff.
Any physical contact like that is unacceptable. Thanks for calling him out
The lady Trooper is an extraordinary horse woman, not even breaking a sweat! Stellar work ESPECIALLY with the chocker of tourists, absolutely wonderful job!
John it always impresses me when you ask people/ tourists where they are from 😊. Brave man.
She is utterly amazing, what a horsewoman!!!
The architecture of these buildings is magnificent!
Wow beatiful sight no wonder horses wanted to go with them.lady guard did fantastic job ,much respect
This is a lovely surprise. Your video arrived in time for my evening viewing. The trooper on the antsy Luxembourg is phenomenal! Always keeps her cool. She has a very strong arm. Well done for calling it John. The horse is so strong its jerking the lady trooper forward. It was an interesting shift. Thanks John.
Hi John, thank you for filming the beautiful architecture of London, i ❤ all the exquisite buildings....
I just love this channel and John's narrations. From the USA.
She was great on that horse. You do a marvelous job , I love your work , explaining everything. Thank you
The Pinto draft horse types with the hairy (or feathered as their properly called) legs are either Irish Cobs (also called Vanners or Gypsy Vanners, Tinker:s Cobs or Irish Tinkers). The solid colored ones are probably Welsh Cobs. The very small ones are probably Pony Cobs. The other Pinto type horses are probably half Standardbreds.
I imagine a new horse needs to get use to the crowds. Then the older ones are probably burned out from the crowds. Luxembourg wants to run free with the other horses.
Did you meet your goal yesterday? I love how you give a great history and description of all you see. I've never been to London, but I love seeing it thru your eyes. Thank you for all you do!!!
I forgot to mention about the number of people who are now filming at Horse Guards , it seems like new ones pop up daily , the problem is most know nothing or very little about Horse Guards , The Household Cavalry regiments , and what is happening , they use over dramatic headlines with little or no relevance to what they have filmed to try and attract views , most of the time fortunately it doesn't work ! Even when comments are left putting them right they don't respond and carry on with their inane headings ! Hopefully they'll move on somewhere else ! We are spoilt with you and Buska ( I love him when he gets a fit of the giggles 😂) . Good night , sleep well xxx
John you just showed that gorgeous clock, and yesterday there was a history prog. telling us that black spot, under the number 10 plus 2 mins, is always there, as King Charles I, as that was the exact time he was beheaded!...Today was the most interesting, exciting video I've seen, thanks so much, your're the best!
Absolutely Loved that parade with all those beautiful horses First time ever seeing that ❤
❤Amazing horse skills for Lady Trooper.
Those trotters are absolutely stunning, I love all horses.
Herd animals. He wants to join in with the other ponies having fun. Great video as usual. I watch every day from Scotland. Especially enjoyed your walk about and seeing a different perspective. The architecture is truly amazing.
🍀 _@LondonCityWalks_ 🍀
Hello John, thanks thanks a lot for this second video posted today (13 april). Always too beautiful and interesting. Love more and more the Horses and King's Guards. 🐎♥️🐎♥️🐎♥️🐎♥️🐎♥️🐎♥️
Have a good Evening and be happy ! ♥️🐴 ✋
Thank you, John. You're the best. From California USA.
Yes! 🇺🇸 USA lady here, too! LA, SoCal, to be more exact! I love your channel, John! I watch everyday! I love your cute accent and jokes! You have a special way about you, John! I would love to go to Horse Guard’s to see it in person and shake your hand, but I won’t ever get the chance. I’m unable to fly, due to my disability. I am so happy you have such great videos with your personal touch! Stay true to yourself! Blessings 🙌🏼 and Love 🤍 ✝️🥰👏🏻👑🗡️🐴
And yes, from Three Rivers, CA, only started watching late Dec, and John's channel was only one I watched, he is just the best.....wicked humor, and knows so many of the guards, police, police horses 🐎, and getting names of guards horses, I made a notebook of horsey names etc....a true gentleman ❤
Hi neighbors (lol),
I'm from NorCal and I'm fairly new to this channel. I watch every video as they come. John does an amazing job taking us along showing us some of the most beautiful sites.
My favorite videos are of the guards and their stunning horses.
I think it was a lieutenant who had looked around the corner and I can't blame him for when he saw that in front of him he decided - ok boxmen consider yourselves inspected see you later, I'm out of here.
The horse probably heard the carriages coming and he got excited
London is such a beautiful place, the buildings are spectacular and the Architecture amazing, i can't believe so many of these buildings survived the war time blitz, i've visited twice from Australia but unfortunately i won't be able to go back, but i do laugh when you talk about the heat of your summer, it's just a normal day here, but we would be freezing on your average winter day.
That lady trooper is great on the horse She’s really good Luxembourg wanted to be in that parade with other horses A great video today
Poor Luxemburg and the trooper. She's amazing, one hand control.
The ones with the bi-color fluffy feet looked like Gypsy Vanner Horses. Many of the slender ones were pacers, like those used in harness racing. Pacers move the legs on the same side together, whereas trotters move their legs in diagonals pairs.
Poor Lux just had enough. So much noise and crowds, the other horses racing along was the last straw. Beautiful horses and a phenomenal trooper controlling him.
Filmed Apr 13, 2024....Thank you 😎.......Have a Great Day
Googled, of course. Three bedroom, seven balconies at 4 Whitehall, rent 6,600£ per month. A mere ‘ bag of shells’ 😊
Love the way you find out stuff. So interesting. Those ponies were great 👍🏻 😊
I don't blame the horses. They show their discontent of constant being bothered by the feelie touching crowds. ✝️🙏👑❤️
Red Letter Day at Horse Guards - Karen Killer Lady Guard, super horsemanship o her part, a cart procession thru London - nice!
The lady trooper is absolutely my favourite as she is so in control of what ever horse she is mounted on. Also that police man that asked you to be careful is also my favourite as is the lady police woman that is usually there.
I love the lady MDP, she is in tune with the horses...
The traveller horses are gypsy vanna and Welsh cob breeds
You mean Gypsy Vanner which are a Cob
@kimcallaghan3404 no I mean vanna, roma word for a horse that pulls a caravan
Hi John, just quickly checked out price of flats at Whitehorse Court! Oh wow, £10,700,000 was the most expensive I saw which sold in 2022 but there was one sold in 2023 for £212,500.(probably the size of a pantry!), unless they left some zeros off! Like the Geordie you’ve just spoken with whose 40th Birthday it was, I am 80 in June (D Day baby!) and I have never seen changing of the guards or Trooping the Colour, hence I’m loving your videos, thank you so much for making them so interesting.
D day baby . I too love Horse Guards and can’t get there . Thank goodness for John and his fabulous discourse .
John deserves a medal .
Just loving these videos from Horseguards! The troopers do amazing work, especially with those massive horses. And yes, Whitehall Court is a beautiful building, so had to check this out. According to the Knight Frank real estate website, there is a 2 bedroom apartment for sale in Whitehall Court, going for a mere 4,750,000 pounds, with a petty 10,000 pound, annual Service Charge, and a Contribution Fund (whatever that is) of a mere 6,000 pounds. Mind you, it's on the 6th floor, and is quite spacious. Sounds like a real bargain. Cheers from Oz!
The horses and traps belong to travellers. They go to many places.
They come to Portsmouth 2 or 3 times a year and many end up at the pubs near the Historic Dockyard. The horses are tied up to trees, poles and bike stands all around the bus station, isle of Wight ferry, Gosport ferry and railway station. Taxis don't stand a chance of getting to their stand at that transport hub.😊❤
Damn. I've never going to get any work done today if you keep pushing out these videos!! Just kidding 😊 Keep up the great work John. ❤ 🐴🐴 🇨🇦
I know right 😂
It must be very heartwarming to have someone come up to you at Horse Guards to compliment your videos and commentary, I will never not enjoy watching your videos. You always find a way to make things entertaining
Good evening John from USA I’m late seeing your video working and errands to run after work I absolutely love your video filming this glorious city I would love to visit there but I know I never will get to unless I win the lot😊But the next best thing is watching your video and telling about this city Very beautiful I love the horses and guards I hope you have a great evening and Thank you so much
Great Tour....got a kick of the students seeing how many can fit in the phone booth..
Hope your day was good.
John an apartment 2 bed White Hall Court only £1,795,000. Enjoy. Hahe
Love the way the horse looked at the lady carrying the dog to say "well there's my breakfast".
Pocket change for you John lol
We have a traveler horse fair twice a year April / October it’s 4 miles from me at Stow on the Wold they start arriving about 3 or more weeks before park wherever they want even on private property make a huge mess race there horses up and down the road in front of my house police do nothing
isn't that because the EU gave them some kind of ethic status?
@margaretflounders8510 it's been going on for years it's got a royal charter so only the king could cancel it they even done it through lockdown all the pubs hotels and shops except Tesco's shut for a week just for a 1 day event because they turn up days before
It's the same in Appleby when they arrive for the horse fair in June...
Love to hear you laugh
Lovely walk alongside whitehall today in the sun. The whitehall residents building is exceptional.
I do love hearing other viewers talking to and complimenting you your account.
The travellers horses looked amazing..so lovely to see them keeping up their oldest traditions.
Keep up the good work x
The parade of horses looked to be Gypsy Vanner. I'm not sure though. Very beautiful!
I bet the horse box soldiers enjoyed the peace and quiet with the delay. They do a fantastic job xx
I love looking at your building, especially Big Ben-and the church bells.
Did you see the horse licking it's lips at the dog! 😂
Phone boxes make lovely garden ornaments. We have one in our back garden. Legal.
That’s cool!😎
why they allow this type of things to come anywhere NEAR those horses so baffles me. Keep that foolishness away, they know the horses can spook over things... They really should stop doing this to the poor horses. Unreal!
You make me smile. I’m recovering from surgery on my face for carcinoma (too much sun in my youth!) so I’m watching you and our beautiful horses and guards. I say “our” cuz the way you video and your commentary make me feel like I’m part of it! Thank you!! Have a beautiful day!!❤ That’s funny cuz my first thought was travelers!!
Get well soon , take care. 😊
@@maryholder3795 thank you very much!! ❤️
I wish you a speedy recovery. I'm waiting for a date to have one removed from my face🙂
Get well soon 🙏
Gypsy Vanner horses used by Travelers. The horses are primarily the painted (2 colors), truly gorgeous manes and tails!
Just a small reminder, there is no British Army Prison, but there is a military corrective establishment at Colchester which takes pains to carry out further training on Service personnel who have been found to be in need of it by way of a Courts Martial sentence.
Known as the glass house!
It would be interesting to interview that Trooper
OMG how many carts & horses wonder what they are doing in London there must have been at least 40/50 maybe more 😊
There was a woman carrying a British flag right in front of Luxembourg's face between the two big groups of carriage horses. If the horses didn't spook him out, she did!
Poor Luxembourg, he wants to go with them! Going for a fun trot is way more appealing than working!😹 It must be a bit difficult to come back and face the crowds after being away doing other horsey stuff. The perspective from across the road looking back at the boxes, that massive crowd would make me think twice about crossing the road to wade in. I can only imagine what it the horses must think when they’re facing the crowd each shift, it’s no wonder some of them have a nope and kick off! The carts were pretty cool though, not something I’d have expected to see but I’m always up for the unexpected in the safety of my armchair!😹🐎❤️
But John - time after time the horses indicate their reluctance and unwillingness to be faced with the crowds and the handling. How are you surprised? It's not amusing any more because the numbers are so great, the mauling so relentless, the horses' distress so obvious.
I agree. Yes they look beautiful but not sure they should be there really.
I think the troopers should pull back the horses more often I feel so bad when 3, 4 ,5 hands touching the horse all around nose and mouth
plus no touch would be best for the horses
I agree 100%. Plus standing on hard surfaces for “only an hour” can cause severe hoof, leg and shoulder/hip pain that can cause uneasiness and restlessness.
I agree totally. Poor horses have to bear all the mauling. Only way to show their distress is by taking a few bites at tourists or refusing to work. Guardsmen should move back in and a barricade set up. Absolutely no touching of either man or animal. Humans only understand when shouted at or shoved out of the way!
Good afternoon John. I see Monty. First two horses I see Thor and that is sweet Monty in the other box ❤
Second horse guards I see Tallahassee and I don’t remember seeing this other one. Wow.
Luxembourg beauties 😊
Thank you John for your videos. Very enjoyable.
😂😂😂You really made me laugh out loud with your Dutch cheese question.
Being Dutch i think i can answer it for you.
In Dutch we usually say "even lachen" which is translated in English "smile for a moment"
Enjoying your posting from here in Colorado, US. Unexpected surprise to see the horses with those carts parading on by. I was a bit shocked to see that the street traffic did not stop and wait for all of them to go past before driving on in the middle of them like that. They'd have to wait here in the U.S. My thoughts about Luxemburg having a little dance might have been the smell of all those other horses. What a good horsewoman his guard is to control him like that. Looking forward to your next offering. See you then.
Well, that slap gave me a shock from armchair!! of course the little beast slapped her
Where is the slap. First I've heard of it and can't see a video with it in.

As far as the telephone booths in Britain. They are iconic. Because in most places. You don't see pay telephones anymore. It's a rarity. Thank you! For providing the clip. Of the smaller horses and buggies. The smaller horses are gorgeous. The guard's horse that was having its moment. The guard handled it exceptionally well. I commend all the different types of law officials/guards For their service and training. Well done!♥️💂♂️🇬🇧🐴
That was so cool. Thanks for risking life and limb to show us🥰
I can’t wait to visit London! I know where I want to visit first. See you there John.
I could watch an all day video of just you walking the streets of London, what a wonderful tour that would be. I love your comments and the way you laugh at idiots. I laugh as hard at them as you do, what twits people are. 😄 I’m an American and I’m really impressed that you knew Tallahassee is the capital of Florida…Probably 50% of Floridians don’t even know that. 😂
Love your videos John and I 100% agree with you about that jerk hitting the young lady. I wish the world had more gentlemen like you.
Most are Gypsy Vanner or Cob horses. And they are known as Trotters or Pacers. That is the gait that they travel in while racing. I hope this answered your question, John. Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
I agree John. The scents and sounds of strange horses will do that.
Hi John another good video do you still go Live? I think they should stop people touching the horses and keep a reasonable distance when taking photos or put s barrier. The Guard was brilliant with the horse. I love the way you explain everything it is interesting thank you
Love this lady guard, Is there horse actually called nipper in any of the groups. I used to go to Southend with my mum, dad and baby brother by steam train, it was a lovely place then so sad to hear it has gone down. Horses mean it when the push them away, dumbos don't take any notice this poor horse seems to be really fed up. She is so good with these big horses, but they are really strong as well, so she has to be strong too. I hope the horse does does settle I am, I am always afraid that it might slip and injure itself and the guard cobbles and horseshoes do not go together. Gypsy trotting rigs, often pulled by the beautiful Gypsy Vanna horses. lovey to watch.
Hi John, Whitehall Ct is in two parts North and South! The south part is luxury apartments and the north part in the National Liberal Club!
Morning everyone
It would be a great idea John to list the horses names in the description section.. Yes I do want Monty and Trooper to win the Elizabeth cup. Do you know if they ride the same horse at the presentation? I hope so
Our trees are not showing any greenery yet here in Québec, thanks for the video ❤
The troop on Luxembourg has my respect on handling such a magnificent horse. And thank you john for filming the group horses and carts. Poor horse is not happy.bless him.😊😊😅😮❤
Wonderful video today. I really enjoy it when you highlight the beautiful architecture of London. You are so informative. You imbued Spring -- light-hearted, joyful... I could go on 😊
Thank you so much for making these videos. Your narration is wonderful to listen to! Sending much love from western Washington, USA
7 ladies with backpacks. That man may be familiar with your page, so waving to his friends who are also fans of your page. Another nice walk to the guards. Here in the states we use to have phone booths but not as attractive as Englands. That sound of Big Ben is so majestic. That building looks like one I've seen in movies, had apartments occupied by one of the characters.
Those old red ones are rare these days. They were gradually updated when the telephone service was privatised in the early 80s. We have two in the centre of my small Wessex town but they're generally a very rare sight in the UK now. They're much prettier than the ones that replaced them.
Your phone box’s are in all the movies we see filmed in London. No wonder everyone wants there friends to see them in one. It London ! It’s fun. It’s like seeing Big Ben , it on everyone’s list to see. North Carolina, USA.
I found this to be be a very action-filled day; it is fantastic, John.
What an amazing trooper... cool as anything
John, what a great video today....one of your best ever....liked the views of your approach, traveller's horse and cart parade was a treat, and of course our super star trooper wrangling unhappy 🐎... I always rush home from work to watch your post...best wishes from Selbyville DE🇱🇷
John your commentary today was absolutely top notch. Loved when you did your little walk-about to show off some of London's finest architecture.
Well done to the trooper who did an outstanding job handling her horse under a trying time especially when the "travelling horse and carts" went by which and appeared to upset her own horse.
Her horsemanship is terrific and she should be commended for her poise under duress.
I love watching all the videos of the horse guards, though I must admit some of the tourists are either stupid or obnoxious, neither of which is a good look for the men and women on duty and serving His Majesty and their country.
May I also take this opportunity to wish good health to both King Charles and Princess Catherine ❤
We have many Irish traveller families here in Essex. Some settle permanently. We have 4 horses in the field opposite which are often annoyingly driven with carts round our narrow roads.
Po
Shame. They do not treat their horses well.
So true, sadly we have just rescued a 2 Yr old from travellers... its going to cost a fortune to heal this poor pony.. disgusting the way they treat horses
@@Grumpykitty2023they are a nuisance, they just do as they please. They regularly turn up in a field near me. They have been reported several times for animal neglect but nothing seems to happen to them. Shocking.
@@bernadettecoyne2965 Disgraceful they are
