G’day, John. Just love your laugh. Watching the Gates-man chatting with visitors is quite refreshing, too bad it is not seen more often. Got a kick out of the little man cursing the at the troopers and the horses. I really got a kick out of eavesdropping @ 55:29 is something that no one but London City Walks could capture that for you. Thank you, John, for another great video.

The guy that was shouting at the guards, looked very unkept i would guess mental health problems, drugs or alcohol.
The guy with his children defo was an ex guardsman. The way he was explaining to his kids about the horse etc was so sweet.

Could be the gentleman with the back back and children may have been retired military horseman...for he was out front talking to the guards also, and was looking at the number on the horses hoof... very friendly with the horse...
Why do people not watch the horse's ears ? If they go back watch out.
Not everyone understands the signs ,not everyone is around horses regularly. Some not ever.

Horses aren’t always angry when their ears are back. It they’re loosely facing backwards, the horse is looking backwards. If they’re rigid and pinned back along with other body language then watch out.
What a lovely sight of that child in the wheelchair getting a photo bet it made his day
Hello from Idaho. ❤ I thoroughly love watching the horses. They are all so beautiful and majestic. Its a shame the tourists are allowed to crowd around them and get them all stirred up. When the horses start biting at anything they can reach, swinging his head from side to side, its time to back off! I'm surprised at that point that the guard doesn't immediately back the horse into the box. That way, it gets him away from grabbing hands and gives him a little reprieve. There needs to be one more sign there, IF YOU CAN'T SHOW THE GUARD AND HORSE THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE THEN PLEASE LEAVE!!
Agree the horses should be left alone, that man rubbing the crap out of it's nose, their noses are very sensitive.

What’s the betting that miniature wannabe tough guy hurling abuse at the guards will turn up in the protest. Cos they think ranting, abusing others and chanting slogans makes them a real roughie toughie.
He knows he safe ranting at the guards cos they’re too professional to retaliate. The over exaggerated swagger just shows what a real “hard man” he thinks he is. If he thought he was impressing anyone he failed miserably. Hard to come across as a bruiser when everyone thinks he’s a jerk.
Well, it’s pretty hard to come across as a “bruiser” when you more closely resemble an irate bantam🙄🤣

I think the reason some of these tourists behave badly is because they think the troopers are actors and historical reinactors there to entertain them. But it's no excuse to be ignorant.
To tourists this is not a military barracks it's like for many a type of Disneyland, just missing the Disney type fun fair or a parade of Disney characters.
Mind you a Disney type parade would be more fun than the Gaza protestors.🤣😂🤣

it would be very very unusual for a horse, any horse to not recognise a child/adult with special needs and disabilities. It seems to be instinctive with some animals, horses and dogs in particular to go all gooey and nanny mode with special needs. We adopted a mastiff/collie/staffy who had been used as a bait dog and was living on the streets, the moment she saw my daughter BANG that was it. She became her constant companion and nanny. Same with the RDA horse, Jacob, he sees Rachel and come barreling over
One of my daughters rescue huskies the female became very concerned if she hearrd a child crying in a buggy /pushchair and would insist on going over to check and console the crying little one , the other one the boy would sit and smile at them and sing a husky song as well 😍
Its all about intentions, they know if you are nice and mean no harm. Will act accordingly, same for the idiots, they know what's what 😂

The protesters arent allowed inside. One tried and told it wasent the place. She had a banner and that it would spook the horses

That's what they need, someone to standby the horses and tell people to move back. This crowding and cornering the horse in the box is awful. Very sad though......the guards need a guard! It was nice to hear the guys laughing in the back, they need that to stay sane!

When Q10 came out the stable, his ears were pinned back. He did not appreciate the crowd. Yes you have seen them go from yard thru box past horse.
Buska has caught a few coming through from the yard , including a small child on his own !

Why is it that some guards do that thwack on the side of the horse when they dismount and others don't? Anyone know? I saw on one of the posts that it supposedly releases tension from the horses muscles and is relaxing. To which I promptly thought, I guess I'll be smacking myself silly at work.....😂😂😂
The pat on dismount to let horses know about shift in weight.
The second pat is on the saddle not the horse , it's done by the Trooper taking number 1 position in the dismount line and is heard by the other horses as the dismount , stand still signal for a weight change to one side .

I truly get so upset and angry at the tourist who disrespect these Guards!!! They are Working! They are on their job and performing their duties. And then to see the hard work they go thru in presenting themselves(their uniforms) and the horses thru your behind the scenes video,really really was impressive and they deserve Respect. Some tourist are so indecorous.

Could have worked as a farm hand , veterinarian ,any number of things that put him near horses .

I’m not sure how this video showed any different behaviour vis a vis the Guards and the horses…….perhaps you meant the MoD Police? And they will warn tourists off sometimes…..but you must understand, that is NOT their job.

The chain is a tether or bright chain used back in campaign days to tether the horses to a line for safety , feeding and watering . It clips to the headcollar then loops around the neck .

Yes. Somebody did walk through the box, past the horse, from the yard to the street. It happened several months ago. I've seen someone else attempt to do the same but was spotted by the Guard and bellowed at to go back.

John,did you see Buskers video when the Gatesman returned to the arches and the lady from the shop followed him in and he turned and began to shout at her and stopped suddenly when he relised who it was,it was so funny i could not stop laughing.
It’s a loop and bar closure on the ends of the chain. When the horses jerk their heads bar can get turned and slide through the loop. Thank you for the videos I’m enjoying them so much.

The last time they had an air ambulance not long ago at the Horse Guards in back, no police were around and the people were surrounding the ambulance like crazy. Here in the USA they have police watch over the crowd and the crowd do not dare go by the air ambulance
It’s wonderful when people bring their Handicap children to events,parades etc. It’s respectful of their cognitive abilities, because they understand more than we know. Regardless, it is a Family Event. Gday John!
