A good day to you, John. I ‘d love to know what the guards speak about when they visit with the Troopers out front? You are right about the Gate’sman, just look how the crowd follows him.
Police security! SWAT security! Security on riding around on horses! Then how? How can ungrateful thugs take free housing, healthcare and food with one hand and deface public property with the other! Any, assistance to them should be terminated! Since they have so much time on their hands, let them get a job! London, I love you!! But the level of audacity of what they did. . . #ItsAboutToGetREAL
I want to thank you for the voice over and explaining what was going on. I saw Sizzler yesterday when I found your channel. I'm not sure how many videos I've watched, but I was looking for Sizzler again. And there he or she was. I love your channel and have subscribed. Do you know the name's of any books that go into detail about the history of the King's Guard? Thank you again. A new friend from the USA. (We kind of get a bad rap. We're not all loud and pushy.🙂) God Bless you.
I was going to see how the lady trooper handled getting off an over 18 hand horse. She had to balance her whole body after swinging her leg over in order to gracefully descend and not end up too close or under the horse. She used great strength and equilibrium perpendicular to the horse’s back lining up perfectly before aiming her legs toward the ground. She is a LOT stronger than she looks!!! Bravo excellent work Lady Trooper!!!!!
@@hessiewatts4406 the finger V is complicated. If the V fingers are facing fwd it's means victory. But if the back of hand is facing outwards at you, it's aggressive like Fk U. John you have my vote for official Horse guard videographer, in my opinion they should give you a special jacket designated to all that you are doing the Kings Royal Guards work!
We are so blessed in this country the horsemanship of these troupers is beyond belief. John you are doing well with your wonderful videos, you let us see things that are very, very special .
You hit the nail on the head. “ I’m a stickler for detail”. And, that is why your channel is so popular. You explain everything going on and, you always seem to be where the action is and capture the most entertaining, educational, and bizarre things that happen there. I am surprised that it is, repetitively, the same sect of people who are so rude and disrespectful to the guards. It is as though they have not been cultured and know how to behave as adults. I would have thought the opposite of those folks. I think the word has spread amongst the guards, and there are not goi g to tolerate their shenanigans anymore. I laughed the minute the Chitsman started marching back and forth, and didn’t stop, the minute they walked up in front of him. He wasn’t having it. So much entertainment in one video! Loved it, John. Just stellar!
The captain seems comfortable, eloquent and patient on his duty. His body language doesn't deny that he enjoys what he does. The type of person who behaves like him, easily stands out at work and is easily promoted within the career he has chosen.

Wonderful to see the splendid beast that is Overlord again , no bushes for him to munch on this time 😂😂😂. That's a long way to the ground for the lady Trooper , just before the change over you can see her stretching and flexing her legs in preparation for the dismount 😀. The Trooper on Sizzler was excellent , shouting at the crowds then spending time soothing and settling Sizzler with lots of comforting pats and scratches , that's why he finished his shift , good job both 😊. The look on that woman's face as she got in position for a photo and standing to close to the soldier,of whom was seeing to horse in the box. Had the cheek to look him up and down. That was funny when they announced that lunch was ready , what are we having for lunch then ? IM surprised all the tourists didn't run towards the tunnel 😂😂😂
These videos demonstrate the great appeal of horse mounted military to the people from around the world. Amazing diversity of visitors. I can’t help but think, despite the “rudeness” or “disrespect” of some of the visitors, that all visitors contribute to the economy that would be sorely missed if more draconian policies are instituted. Black informational signs posted on one side of the boxes are tasteful, perhaps bigger RED signs might be universally recognized as warning signs of danger which may result in better behavior?
My sympathy is with Sizzler - he has the most expressive ears I’ve ever seen on a horse. They tell you exactly how he is feeling. His rider is top notch! All that noise and sounds he can’t interpret must be agony.
I'm really not surprised poor horse is freaking out I would the tourist are very loud today and his hearing is much better than ours it must be thundering to Sizzler. God love him. ❤

A bit of momentum makes it harder to baulk. Wow there are SO many people!!and OMG that rude cow in the grey jacket…….in the bloody way and then has the cheek to look offended when she’s almost stepped on and brush herself off like she’d been contaminated by the trooper….silly cow🐮 Thank you so much for that lovely clear shot of Sizzler too. Much appreciated🙏 and yes, kudos to the trooper mounted on Sizzler…..he handled him gently and tactfully, constantly reassuring him with pats and voice…..poor lad was so wired today……it was upsetting for everyone…..except apparently the oblivious tourists.
Another spectacular video John. Thank you for the informative and most interesting content. Well done to everyone involved, including Captain H, the lady Trooper who looked fantastic on her mount and the incredibly patient Trooper on the horse on the left of the gates. Also, great respect to the Chelsea Pensioner who was so well presented.
Good morning John from USA I feel so bad for the soldiers and horses having to deal with this everyday I bet their feet are hurting so bad when the day is done I don’t see how they walk in them I love the horses and soldiers I hope you have a great rest of the day Love the video Thank you
From 1692 until 1955, all Army pensions were administered by and paid from the Royal Hospital Chelsea, which is why all Army pensioners were often referred to as Chelsea Pensioners. Those who lived 'Out', in the UK or abroad and received their pension in cash from agents around the country were known as Out-Pensioners.
Evening John! The summer uniforms are so impressive they look so smart! The lady guard getting off the horse is great,I could never do that id probably fall over and hurt myself since im so short! That other guard is sooooo tall like I wish I was taller must be so great to be able to reach things with out a stool or ladder. 🤣
The King's guard tall stature. Is very attractive. Bravo! The trooper for hurrying the horse in.👋👋 The horse wouldn't gone in. Any other way. Luv all the King's horses they're gorgeous. The King's guards dismounting was beautifully and effortlessly done.♥️💂🇬🇧🐎
I'm sure John there's definitely something wrong with that box that affects some of the horse's and the crowd's have alot to do with it poor twizzler. The Guards were amazing and so was over lord a great big beauty. Thank you John and no don't go to Colombia all hell breaks loose when you aren't here at horse Guards😁❤ Stay safe John.❤❤🇬🇧🇬🇧
Respect to these guards, one handed.. double reins..sword! I know what it's like to control a horse in the middle of the road on its hind legs having a total meltdown with two hands free!
1:02:50 Overlord :- love the way the lady trooper is reassuring Overlord with pats and scratches. 1:04:05 Sizzler, not happy but made to the end of his shift. Congratulations to the trooper for keeping him there and controlling Sizzler so nobody got hurt, tourists, Sizzler, or trooper.
Very charismatic dashing Life Guard Captain there, I've seen him before, he seemed to be such at ease with everything going around him, the way he was explaining everything in such a pleasant and calm manner. Maybe someday, who knows, we'll have the honour of you interviewing him, John☺☺ He would make for such a great tour guide. The trooper on Sizzler managed to pull it off brilliantly, it didn't look good the way Sizzler had the meltdown at the beginning of his shift. I've seen the trooper leading Sizzler into the box before, as a boxman or gateman, now he was on crowd&horse control. He does sometimes give me a somewhat stern, direct and very determined vibe when he's a boxman, the way he handles horses. I've seen him preparing Lancelot for the Elizabeth Cup as well, i couldn't mistake him because of his tattoos on his arms hah, they are very unique😀 A determined manner is good, i guess, but i didn't see him comforting horses too much, it's not his thing. The trooper on Sizzler managed to calm him down with pats and scratches/caresses,while Sizzler did the "polka" dance a bit in the box, but he didn't get into the "waltz" too much, which was a good sign. I guess we should never under-estimate the power of soothing words/gestures with most horses in distress.
A calm, soft voice and a few gentle pats go a hell of a long way with a toey horse. It really can’t be overestimated how much the demeanour of the rider affects the demeanour of the horse.
@@paulinemegson8519 Wow! So horses can pick up on the mental and emotional state of the rider. Thank you so much for confirming this for me, what i wrote above was based on my observations and my intuition, but not too much from prior riding experience. So sometimes, horses may display a certain irritated behaviour not because of something explicitly bothering them but because they are reacting to how the troopers feel/behave at that point in time, am i correct in saying this? For me, it's very important to know because i can re-evaluate certain situations that i have watched regarding certain horses at Horse Guards behaving oddly and without obvious reasons(excluding medical ones of course). Incidentally, it was one particular trooper, different horses, almost identical odd behaviours from the horses.
@@Roox8115 well if you really want an illustration of this, look at the way the horses behaved after the incident with the horses that bolted in London earlier in the year. The troopers were doing their best to keep calm, and just carry on the routine but EVERYone was on edge….how could they not be? And all the horses were nervy and jumpy because of it. The thing is, humans, even tho we might look calm, show a lot of signs that animals can pick up, when under stress, from simple chemical markers that alter our scent, to the way our voice sounds, to the tightening of muscles that a horse can FEEL when being ridden. Not to mention that these troopers lives revolve around the horses while they’re in ceremonial….they live next to them, their care is their primary task, and they spend most of their waking hours around them, and this creates a bond. That said a GOOD horseman keeps their own feelings under control because they’re the one in charge and it’s their responsibility to keep their horse calm. Watch Princess Anne when she is controlling a jittery mount. Utterly calm. Or better still, the Queen when she had shots fired at her while riding, sidesaddle, in procession, and her horse, understandably, spooked. Completely calm, and concentrating on calming her Mount which she did, very quickly.
The rider of sizzler is absolutely amazing. He is so intune with that horse it’s impressive. He’s one heck of a rider. The rider of overlord was incredible herself. The way she dismounted that huge horse was something to witness!
Sorry John I asked if you had gone on holiday and you had just come back, I didn't hear that. A kind person let me know that, so i thanked them. Hope you had a grand time and the weather was kind
That was so nice that he said thank you. You have thought me so much about the Kings Guards. I watch your videos all the time. I’m from North Carolina, USA.
such majestic horses its not a wonder they have meltdowns having faces and hands and loud noises right in their faces for a period of time I would probably act the same way love your videos
Those horses are freaking out on the floor when it has poo and/or urine on it, making their feet slip, and sometimes their legs are starting to splay. That terrifies them. Is there anything they can put on it safe and dry for them?
I can not believe the disrespect I am witnessing toward all the military guards! I have seen more respect toward the DisneyWorld characters. 😮😮😮 I would feel so honored to be in their presence. When I see a Guardsman trying to converse with a Guard on the horse, people will stand as close as possible as if to listen in on a private conversation. Heartbreaking. 😢😢😢
Port Sizzler having a bad day I hope he feels better once he gets off Duty I'm back inside and get away from all the noise he's absolutely gorgeous I love the markings on this horse I'm also glad to see Overlord he's a big handsome baby
Did you notice the girl in the pink top get her arm bit by Overlord? (30 minutes 17 seconds) you were just about to walk in to the yard. Also it was the Trouper who sneezed 😄
Thank you John for another amazing 🤩 video sorry you to hear that your Paris trip was raining busy but it’s good to have you back in London again how ❤️
Sorry I’ll finish what I was saying it was so nice to see you the Chelsea pensioner and the captain giving those people time wow 😮 and lovely to see the horses and guards in there summer uniform keep your lovely videos coming take care 😅
😂 Horse reminds me of our beagle when he passes gas. He reacts the same way! Our 144 lb. Blond Lab didn't react that way. He just ran with us all happy, when we ran to get away from the oder. Does make me wonder though if that one box has more vibration in it,
Thank you for all your great videos. I enjoy them all, oh and your history. Of the guardsmen and the difference in the two units of guardsmen and women ,and the horses. What a great picture and memory these people get with the officer.
🇬🇧 Hello John. Good day to you. Wonderful to see the 2 Chiefs and the Chelsea Pensioner in their full uniforms. Spectacular as ever As was the dismounts. Simply superb. Too many people though.
1:45 Tall Gatesman, "Make way" firmly spoken. So sensible Tourons do what? Move it. 4:37 Captain H and C of H, love the uniforms of both men, red jacket, polished metal chest and back plate, and all that gold braid. A credit to the Lifeguards, people took notice and let them through. Amaxing sights to see. Nice to see the Chelsea pensioner and his family with the Captain explaining about the HG " tilt yard" and its history and traditions.
Poor Sizzler had a tough shift! Those cobbles are so treacherous to their shoed hooves, they slide around so much when they get jumpy, it freaks me out! I’ve seen some near falls and I find myself reaching out to keep them from falling, as if I could stop it! I do the “mom” reflex thing like a weirdo!🙄🙀😹🐎❤️
Yes!! The horses are massively stressed!! Even though their shifts are short, the wall of noise is deafening. There is no way for some of the horses to turn it “off.” I learned horses are prey animals. When they feel threatened or can’t make sense of a situation, their goal is to get away to safety. As big and powerful as they are, uncertainty and fear can terrify any horse. Kudos to the Household Cavalry!! You exemplify all that makes a horse a”good horse.”you bring out the best in each one. The love and respect is mutual. As for the ignorant horde that descends upon you daily. Go home learn manners and respect for others, especially the horses!! If that’s not your style,or it’s beneath you, STAY HOME!!
Have to agree, the training and control each of these troopers have is awesome!! They have more patience than many police officers dealing with crowd control.
This is wonderful to watch. Much respect for the Guards and beautiful horses. Amazing what they deal with. Unfortunately a lot of rude disrespectful people.

Wow there are SO many people!!and OMG that rude cow in the grey jacket…….in the bloody way and then has the cheek to look offended when she’s almost stepped on and brush herself off like she’d been contaminated by the trooper….silly cow🐮
Thank you so much for that lovely clear shot of Sizzler too. Much appreciated🙏 and yes, kudos to the trooper mounted on Sizzler…..he handled him gently and tactfully, constantly reassuring him with pats and voice…..poor lad was so wired today……it was upsetting for everyone…..except apparently the oblivious tourists.
Are you referring to the Guard that stands 7 feet or 2.134 meters. Very nice gentleman.
Good morning John from USA I feel so bad for the soldiers and horses having to deal with this everyday I bet their feet are hurting so bad when the day is done I don’t see how they walk in them I love the horses and soldiers I hope you have a great rest of the day Love the video Thank you
I've read that the horses are in the box for 1 hour and then rotate through the horses to the next horse. They also are on duty 2-3 days a week
Makes me very happy to see older ones being respected .
Hi John, from Maryland, your guards are so handsome and gorgeous in their summer uniforms 😍 ❤️ 😀 ♥️ 😊
Overlord! Yeah. Fabulous. ❤
Good grief, I’m addicted to this channel.
Your not the only one, as I don't worry 😊
Yup 😅🎉❤
Here.Here. There's just something about a man in uniform....on a horse. Just saying....❤😊❤
Viene a mi país. Interesante . Hay todo un proceso pedagógico por aprender como quitarse de encima a los turistas molestos. Se lo aseguro
Respect to these guards, one handed.. double reins..sword! I know what it's like to control a horse in the middle of the road on its hind legs having a total meltdown with two hands free!
Sizzler’s Trooper has a lovely, strong voice.
My Gosh the tourists do not stand back for the Officer!
The gatesman has a regal voice!
Hello John.
Thank you for the amazing video with Captain H and the Chelsea pensioner.
I really love your videos.
Wow! What a day! Well done John for capturing all the great moments 😅
That crowd is absolutely crazy! Claustrophobic.
The rider of sizzler is absolutely amazing. He is so intune with that horse it’s impressive. He’s one heck of a rider. The rider of overlord was incredible herself. The way she dismounted that huge horse was something to witness!
This horse’s white markings are slightly narrower than Ormondes and I think it is a nipper too.
I have just started watching the videos. Thank you for filming and explaining everything. Especially to those of us who will never get to visit.
The uniforms are so elegant.
Maybe the ultra orthodox Jewish men will have a different opinion after having to serve in their country’s military if the law is changed!
Yes they will fix our clocks
I've read that the Hasidic and Orthodox Jews get a pass on serving in the Israeli army which is monitory for the rest of the population.
Oh John... you old flirt ...😂😂😂. Women are putty in your hands😂😂😂
A great vid..again
Diolch 🏴👍
Hi again John, thanks again for your video. Wow so much happening, and yet more meltdowns, something is not right. Thanks again ❤️
I think quite a few of the meltdowns are from new horses that haven’t been there before. 😊
Great video John. I don’t have a picture of Sizzler. I don’t remember him. He’s a beauty and hope he settles down. Overlord is a beautiful big boy. 😊
Hello John none of the others talk and let their viewers know what is going on. Thank you. I love listening to you talk.❤❤❤❤❤
Sorry John I asked if you had gone on holiday and you had just come back, I didn't hear that. A kind person let me know that, so i thanked them. Hope you had a grand time and the weather was kind
Sizzler has the loveliest countenance I just love his eyes.
Wow capt look amazing .he knows his history much respect sir
That was so nice that he said thank you. You have thought me so much about the Kings Guards. I watch your videos all the time. I’m from North Carolina, USA.
Feel so sad for Sizzler the horse, definitely not happy 😥♥️
such majestic horses its not a wonder they have meltdowns having faces and hands and loud noises right in their faces for a period of time I would probably act the same way love your videos
Those horses are freaking out on the floor when it has poo and/or urine on it, making their feet slip, and sometimes their legs are starting to splay. That terrifies them. Is there anything they can put on it safe and dry for them?
the trooper gaurd doing a great Job ,,, with the horse ....OMG .....SKill xoxoxo
All the guards do an excellent job.
Welcome back John. Two excellent videos today, thanks. I think it all waited to happen until you got back!! 🤣
Wow!! Horse grabs the Captain's fingers 😕
Well you are a fantastic orator you educate many and you add a little humour which always makes me chuckle.
The trooper was prob thinking OMG what a lot of idiots can't comprehend simple instructions. lol
wow, what handsome captains they are.😊
Thank you John for another amazing 🤩 video sorry you to hear that your Paris trip was raining busy but it’s good to have you back in London again how ❤️
Sorry I’ll finish what I was saying it was so nice to see you the Chelsea pensioner and the captain giving those people time wow 😮 and lovely to see the horses and guards in there summer uniform keep your lovely videos coming take care 😅
Awesome story. Thanks ❤
😂 Horse reminds me of our beagle when he passes gas. He reacts the same way! Our 144 lb. Blond Lab didn't react that way. He just ran with us all happy, when we ran to get away from the oder. Does make me wonder though if that one box has more vibration in it,
hope you are having a lovely time in Paris and it isn't raining for you John!
I'm back in London! Holiday over sadly.
@@LondonCityWalks ahh, hope you've enjoyed it while it lasted
if the tallest trooper was on Overlord they would not fit in the box
Great video, the different perspectives today made it really interesting.
Wonderful. Lots of positive activity. Thanks again
Watching from Winter Haven; gray overcast day here❤
Yes!! The horses are massively stressed!! Even though
their shifts are short, the wall of noise is deafening. There
is no way for some of the horses to turn it “off.”
I learned horses are prey animals.
When they feel threatened or can’t make sense of a
situation, their goal is to get away to safety. As big
and powerful as they are, uncertainty and fear can
terrify any horse.
Kudos to the Household Cavalry!! You exemplify all that makes a horse
a”good horse.”you bring out the best in each one.
The love and respect is mutual.
As for the ignorant horde that descends upon you daily. Go home
learn manners and respect for others, especially the horses!!
If that’s not your style,or it’s beneath you, STAY HOME!!
Great coverage as usual ❤
Sir!! Ur videos R the only ones I'll EVER!! WATCH!! Clear and U make us feel like we're really walking around LONDON!! TY!!
Have to agree, the training and control each of these troopers have is awesome!! They have more patience than many police officers dealing with crowd control.
You do Thank you very much😂 great videos
You did better than I. Awsome video dude
This is wonderful to watch. Much respect for the Guards and beautiful horses. Amazing what they deal with. Unfortunately a lot of rude disrespectful people.
