G’day, John. Very interesting stat to your video, seeing the Guards deploy out the front gate.
Perhaps it could be a live event when your bucket list wish to be tapered happens John
In not weather there are only so many layers you can take off. At least in cold weather you can add as many as you need 😀
John, after the changeover, I have the horse in the right hand box down as Tabor (that interesting full blaze and the small sock on the left rear hoof) but when you ID'd him as Tabor in your June 10th video, a couple of the regular viewers, who seem to really know the horses, queried that ID. I don't think there was confirmation as to whether or not your ID on that date was correct?
G'day John was just looking at the Guard he looks fed up and so hot
Dear John,
Thank you for making my first trip to London unforgettable. Seeing the King's Guard horses was a dream come true, and meeting you made it even more special.
Your warmth and genuine interest meant a lot, and I’m thrilled you captured the experience. It’s a moment my mother and I will always cherish.
Take care!
Maria
The pleasure was all mine Mariya - you were lovely and your mother was so friendly and fun! Огромное спасибо вам! ❤
So many of us would probably have the same reaction to meeting these beautiful four-legged Troopers up close Maria. Thank you to you and John for allowing us to share your experience 🐴💕
Офигеть! Seeing you achieving your dream was so heartwarming! I'm so happy for you ♡
@@echiax thank you! :)))
@@starvingartist2824 thank you for the lovely message.
The horse with the remarkable blaze is the MAGNIFICENT MONTY, the winning horse of Trooper Ethan Jeffrey named as the Best Turned Out Trooper at the prestigious Princess Elizabeth Cup 2024. Chosen as the cleanest pair, they earned the bragging rights as the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiments’s FINEST & the PRIDE of The Blues & Royals…
Oh thank you, I wondered if that was him but have zero faith in my ability to get anything right! He is such a gorgeous horse.
@@BessieInTheBlueBoxElevenCustarMy pleasure…
So good to everyone you again and hear your humor! Great video×
Well done
That's fantastic. That's also the nibbler tickler. 😅❤ Congrats 🎉👏
Constant neighing can be a sign of separation anxiety - maybe he’s calling out to a stable mate. Horses don’t usually make a lot of noise if they’re ill or in pain - it makes them vulnerable to predators.
It could just be an “I’m here, where are you” call to the herd.
I had one horse who’d start neighing when he thought it was about time I fed him - and he didn’t stop till I did.
He certainly had you under his hoof didn't he 😂😂😂. I've had a cat like that , bless him blind in one eye , no teeth but could eat for Britain 😋
@@kathellison8084sounds very cute❤
@@kathellison8084 he certainly did. He’d even nudge me towards his feeding trough if I wasn’t getting the message. But I’m also head parlour maid to my cat too. She’s 14 now and very graciously allows me to share her house - as long as I behave and don’t forget where the treats are kept!
@sylviekins Oh he was and didn't he know it 😁.
Can you imagine having to wear all that gear and sit on a horse that is heated as well? I guess someone has to do it. Thanks for the video, John!
Horses call out because they miss their horse buddies. I believe that is Valiant. Another beauty Wellington. ❤
The grey horse is Quillan.
Those horses make me cry too because they are so beautiful and regal. They are wonderful representatives of Britain. I’ve wanted to see them since I was 10 yrs old (when I saw Mary Poppins) I have loved everything British. ❤
Oh that's so nice, where are you from?
Thank you John. Maria and her friends were lovely. No naughty tourists today 😊
Wow, leaving from front gate. Beautiful.
The way the horse is looking down the street he could see something he recognised and is calling to it and being a pack animal he could be calling for other horses so he doesnt feel alone
Neigh: A neigh, or whinny, is the loud call that most people associate with the horse. You hear it as a sound effect in Hollywood westerns all the time (usually used incorrectly). The neigh seems to be used most often by horses that have been separated from their herd or from a very close companion. Neighs have a sense of urgency to them that seem to be saying, “Hey, I’m over here!”
Nicker: The nicker is a soft, gentle call that is usually heard when horses with a close bond greet one another. Mares nicker to their foals, and herdmates nicker to each other. Horses that are attached to their human caretakers sometimes nicker to them. You can also hear nickering at feeding time as the person delivering the food approaches.
Snort: The snort, made by a rapid blowing of air from the nostrils, is most often heard when a horse is alarmed in some way. If a horse comes upon something that scares him, he may bolt, then spin around and snort at the offending object. Horses sometimes snort at random when they are feeling frisky, too...... So if you begin Snorting John we will know why !!!
Wow, now that’s a sight to see them leaving from that gate. Wow that’s an impressive. Very impressive.❤❤❤❤❤
What a lovely video John!!! The Russian ladies are so sweet and your interaction..super!! It's great to hear the stories of people coming to London and their reactions to this incredible place..Horse Guards!!! You have such a genuine rapport with the tourists..it's so special!!! Brilliant!!! Thank you for always bringing us the wonderful stories of life around London!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 xxxxxxxx
I caught your post 38 seconds after it was posted. Serendipity. I really enjoy spending my days watching your time at horse guards. A bucket list item for me.
It's been around 100° F here in the States this week. 82° seems like heaven lol!
We here in Perth Western Australia constantly have days and days of 38° centigrade in the summer with lots of humidity. Sometimes we get over 40° but it is easier to take because it's a dry heat.
Stuck in Arizona us over 100° would love 82°
@@DianaMcFerran5 degrees this morning in Sydney🥶
Degrees and cel are 2 different things
@@lindakanzeg3205 what? There's degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celcius what are you on about?
Only 3 bullets, John! Former ER Nurse and understands dark humor!! 😁 I don't know how you tolerate those neverending, continuously gabbing crowds!! I would have to escape to the country or any sparsely populated area!! I do love people , but..... there is a certain tolerance level that is above and beyond duty!! I feel bad for the Guards/ Troopers and horses in that hot weather... The Guards should have ice packs or misters to keep cool and quiet noiseless fans mounted to the ceiling of the boxes of course electricity would need to be installed if needed ❤
It's another scorcher! I have to say I'm very impressed with you speaking Russian.
Come on, Officers, grant John his bucket list/birthday wish! Don't make him wait till his 90th, and make sure to tape it and put it on YT.🤩🤣😂
Hello John, so nice to see the horses not being crowded and touched by the tourists all the time.
Oh my how gorgeous was that, leaving by the front gate
Poor trooper is melting!
Those metal helmets and chest plates have got to be dangerous in the heat. I also worry about them 🤗 ❤
Another beautiful day in London!! What a lovely interaction with Mariya and her family - love hearing you chat with the tourists!!
I saw Buska's video yesterday. Loved that the guys on the vehicle actually had their photos taken with the Horse Guards and some tourists. ❤️
As soon as there are fewer visitors to the horses, they are much more relaxed. And is that the new Wellington ? the old one died recently. A very handsome one - both. Maybe Horse nr.2 is so vocal because he is still new and looks for and calls the others from his herd.
I’m sweating buckets just looking at those soldiers. They must be boiling poor bairns 😅🏴
Hi John I like watching your videos as you talk about what’s going on there is one other fell I have seen videoing but he just stands there and never opens his mouth to say a word I will only look out for your videos keep up the good work your brilliant 💙💙🏴🏴
Wow, what a treat
Super shiny horses 😊
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧💙💜🩵🐎🐎🐎
Because poor things are sweating like pigs
Thank you for standing in the heat, filming for us! 🍀👍 🍦 🥛 👏
What a spectacular sight ...loved loved seeing the Long Guard leaving via the front entrance. Feeling a little sad, that we won't see the troopers and horses at HG but happy they will be away enjoying their holiday break. Bring on the King's Troop.
Thanks for filming in such uncomfortable conditions John. kiwi ☺
Lovely it is so quiet, for the horses and guards must be a lovely change for them during this very hot weather. It was wonderful seeing the guards leaving through the main gate. That grey the trumpeter rides is always acting up, It is a wonder he gets a chance to blow his trumpet, with that uppity horse.
I think the greys tend to not do as well standing still with a rider because they don’t do it as much as the blacks do. They get exercised like the other horses but other than Long Guards and ceremonial occasions when they’re ridden by the HCav mounted band, they probably don’t spend as much time just standing with a rider. Just my thought. Uppity horse 😂
Beautiful animals!
Fantastic video! Watching the horses leave by the front. 'Meeting' fellow Floridians Mariya & her mom. A day with no shouting (although those always make laugh). Absolutely delightful way to spend my supper hour. Thank you!
What a wonderful sight!!😎🌻
Watching this and seeing how uncomfortable in the heat is the trooper mounted on Montgomery is quite awful to see. At least the trooper on Talaah kept the horse back in the box, although I do remember him being told by the COH earlier this week to bring the horse further out of the box.
In John’s video “Spanish kids disrespect…” from May 12 at the 18.05 mark John was spot on and that is 100% Tabor. Tabor has no markings. The horse in this video at 51:43 is, as someone mentioned, Valiant. Sometimes 0s, 6s, 8s or 9s can look very similar on the hoof. 😊
This lovely horse is going to take over John's commentary. Watch out John😂😂😂🎉
Hi John thank you for your humor and love of what you do for us. Say hi to the family 🎉❤🎉❤
The guard on horseback 8n the box looks so hot, like he’s going to pass out. Poor guy. they need to install some fans up in the arch, up very high, aim it down, to use in summer.
Yes. And maybe a cooler Summer uniform.
John ur such a wonderful ladies man. Such a gentleman !!!!The vocal horse was so entertaining. All the Troopers are so chill it is amazing. After watching this video I shouldn't complain about Chicago traffic
Another interesting hour John thank you . . . Really enjoy the tourists from all over the world who stop to chat with you. Blessing to them all: Kiwi
John, be careful what you wish for😂That was good to see them leaving through the front gates! 😍
Good morning John that’s a beautiful site to see you this morning. Have a wonderful day.❤
That was impressive, what a beautiful sight. Your channel is the only one I watch now, thank you for great videos🫂🫶
I enjoyed hearing your conversation. With the friendly and engaging Russian family. I would feel the same way as Maria. If I was ever blessed with the opportunity. To set foot on London soil and Horse Guards. Coming from Boston, U.S.A. The Royal Troopers featured in this video are amazing. Thank you! For providing the glorious clip. Of the King's Guards leaving by horse. I look forward to your next video. Well done!
Hi John amazing video as always
I think you had some verbal competition with the horse today
Keep making your viewers laugh
Thank you so much ❤
Good afternoon, John, that was a glorious start of this morning at Horseguards! Enjoy your summer day in London!😊
I loved the interaction that you had with the couple from Florida John it was good. The way you spoke in Russian as well was excellent 😉😊🙂
We do not want another debacle like frhuer drumph! He will cause a civil war
Hi John I'm here for the quick Witt and the horse's , you always say what were thinking 😂❤
Hello John from Australia - Don't encourage them to touch the horses John!!!! I think the horse is saying "what am I doing here in this heat how can I get back to the stable"? It's great to see the courtyard closed so the horses can have the back doors open for ventilation, it's a shame this doesn't happen all summer.
What perfect timing John , arriving as the Long Guard left through the gates , always a magnificent sight but extra special today . Hello to the lovely Maria and family , I hope you enjoyed your visit to Horse Guards and your conversation , multilingual , with John .😀. You mentioned some sort of negotiations with The Kings Troop , names of horses perhaps ? I remember the Trooping of The Colour and Claire Balding meeting one named Marmaduke Mollygrubbs ( stable name Basil) someone told me the names came from a book or books by a Victorian author , but I didn't make a note of the author and can't find the video or post now 🤔 Anyone got any ideas ? Have a relaxing evening John , hopefully see you tomorrow xxx
I really enjoy your videos. You are always so lighthearted and you give us so much history and background. Very interesting.
Hello John Thank you for sharing the videos with us ❤

Afternoon john, and as ive said before, wall tazars are the way to go lol and what an amazing family you met
Fellow red head here. Nicknamed 'Duracell' as a child lol.
It's funny, here in Australia for some reason red heads are called 'bluey' 😂😂😂 Aussie logic
@@DianaMcFerran Yes, that's what my Dad called me (I hated it then but now that I'm an old white/grey haired woman I miss my gorgeous red hair).
My grand nephew’s hair is orange, he tells people. So gorgeous!
@@heatherharvey3129 I bet you do miss it, I love red hair on women, absolutely beautiful. I'm an old woman myself now, I had mousy brown hair, totally boring, but now I've got grey hair with white streaks in it, and I actually like it much better 😂
Watched this on TV, impossible to post there😠. Sometimes people get overwhelmed by beauty. Wonderful to see her reaction to beauty and see her joy. Great chat and video, thank you💐‼️
What a treat, watching the Horse Guards going out the front gate down Whitehall and the magnificent building. Beautiful
Yes the tourists were amazing. ❤Too bad there aren't any summer clothes for the King´s guards, I wouldn't wear them in this heat, it must be terrible.
That beautiful parade of horses and troopers was the high point of my day! Thank you, John, for these awesome videos!! ❤
They really need to make those poor Guards cooler uniforms for summer. Poor guys and girls
This was wonderful; that 'little' horse was shouting at everyone!
Horses neigh for different reasons, but mainly to communicate their emotions or location12. They may neigh to express anxiety or confidence, or to greet their owner or other horses1. They may also neigh to locate other horses, especially when they are separated from the herd or a 'linked' horse2. Neighing is one of the ways that horses use to communicate with each other and with humans1.
The horse may be calling out for his stable buddy. Most horses don't like being without their best buddies and will call out to them asking - where are you?
I'm still crying here, your Korean ex, being as loud as the horse 😂 Reminded me of an old movie, Animal House or Police Academy. Oh heaven's I hurt, I'm never going to forget that one 😂😂 thank you John
How old are you??? I enjoy you for standing up for all the military and police. I hit like before I ever watch. WendySue in USA
Morning John good luck in the heat….garden lounger today!!🌻😎
Good morning John from USA Hope you have a great day Love seeing the horses It’s very hot here too
I loved it when you get to talk to lovely tourists.
Goodmorning John what a beautiful thing to see first thing.

them leaving from the front was awesome to watch, thank you so very much for recording this, and all the ones you do , i love watching your videos that was a lovely surprise
On such a hot day, why didn't the camouflage guards bring water for the horses? The horses don't sweat as humans do. What a shame 😢
John, just got around to seeing this video. Really, are you going to be 90 in 2 months? Bless you! I just turned 96 so welcome to my decade.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice to see the sunshine in Lovely London.
Hi John....good to see your at horse guards. Looks a hot day. Keep on top of those pesky tourists!
Hi John, so in Three Rivers, Ca it's been 105° for past 5 days, looks like 100's for weeks....I just love the tassel on trumpeter horse....hope you all survive the heat and soldiers and of course the 🐎 🐴 🐎 horses.... take care
Loved the video as usual, the ladies from Florida were real sweet, but OMG John don't say Trump is going to win in November.😲😲😲
In this heat, the horses shouldn't have to be standing in those boxes, which must feel like a Sauna!! These poor animals don't have any choice!
In any extreme weather, this is cruelty! Don't get me wrong, I love watching these beautiful horses, but you Have to draw the line somewhere! It's bad enough they have to deal with the crazy tourists! I'm surprised that PETA hasn't been able to do something. These horses should Not be outside in any extreme weather, be it the heat or cold. Honour and tradition should only go so far. The welfare of these beautiful animals should come First and Foremost!
Do some research, please, before you comment. Number one, these horses are only there for about an hour at a time. Number two, they are offered water while they are there. Number three, what are horses who live on farms or in the wild do during the summer? Stand in the sun… 😅 (but not all day, of course… they are smarter than that.)
Love your channel.. Like your narration…. Keep going!
Thanks! Always enjoy you commentary and humor!! Keep up the good work…no tasing!!
Very kind of you Pam and much appreciated - thank you! ❤❤
What a lovely treat to see the horse guards leave through the front gate.
John...I was so surprised to hear you are turning 90...your voice sounds like you are in your 20's 😊
Love your rapport with the tourists from around the world. Thank you for sharing your passion for the beautiful horses and Kings guard. . Love from California.
You should hear his dad!!😂
Nice that the back of the boxes can remain open, at least there can be a little air movement through them, troopers might not feel as hot.
Thank you John.
The tourists who get horse stuff on them should feel honored!
What a pretty, vocal horse. Seems alert, interested. Do you think it’s upset about something? I wonder if there’s another horse he/she is talking to, lol. The one in the other box? Is there one in the stables chatting as well? I’m used to hearing horses do this, but not usually so much in the HG videos. Even dancing, pawing, really unsettled ones don’t seem to make a lot of noise.
It was 100° plus heat index on my front deck today (in East Texas)
We jokingly say we are just pre heating -the real heat is in July-August-September
It's about 90 out and in northern Wisconsin that is hot! We feel you London! Lovely horses !
Thank you, John, for your films of the horse guards etc, it is interesting, informative, entertaining, and if one loves horses - it is lovely getting to know the regulars on the job there :)
The horse naying may well be from seeing other horses down the street. At one point I thought I heard an answer.
Really enjoy you videos and interactions with people. Daily routine for me. Thank you.
John I have to say I love this channel, I used to live in London when younger but back up in Scotland now so I enjoy seeing London and the horses especially. Your commmentary and knowledge makes a big difference so don’t stop what you’re doing. Are you ex military ? Or is your knowledge from just general things ?
Very kind comments - thank you! No military background or familial connections : )
@@LondonCityWalksKind but true. Other channels kinda do the same thing but it’s so not the same as you are very engaging. And you have an amazing knowledge then for no connection as you do sound like you could be an ex officer ! My father was ex forces, as my brother, brother in law, various uncles, grandfather, great grandfathers and a lot of my friends are ex or still serving. So it’s lovely to see the tradition of the horse guards ! Looking forward to your next video, hope you’re not getting too sunburned down there !😂
Edit : I think that the horse is neighing due to anxiety as well as the flipping of the head back, but could be something else.
