Why these soldiers trying to keep the horse in a place that is obvious he doesn't want to be. Why not take him to the stable and check his reins and mouth, something is bothering him, or he just decided to take the day off.
Because if you don’t at least try to get them to be still, they learn they can have a bad moment and go home which is a bad thing because then the horse learns that they can behave like that in any situation
You'll notice the first thing the senior guard did was check the horse's mouth. From another comment by someone claiming to know more about this individual horse (who knows if true) it is allegedly a young horse in training so is still getting used to the job. They also only take him out for much shorter periods than normal, whilst he learns the role.
@@virginiaalonso1927I don’t blame him. I would be tired of the people & the noise too. The drums would drive me crazy & once the bagpipes started that would really set me off. Horses are individuals. Some are calm, and others are skittish. Some are gentle natured, while others are actually mean spirited. One of my uncles was killed when his horse threw him. 😂Drums not the pipes, it's how they beat the drums that upsets the horse, certain patterns of drumming & how hard they beat the drum, can go deep inside into the body, near the heart that's what scares the horses, they seem to beat the drums louder when going by the horse's either ban them, or get them to stop any sounds till they walk past the horse guards out of courtesy to horse & guard, Amen,we should write to the King& Ask him to stop it, Amen😮!

It didn't matter what the guard did, that beautiful horse was having none of it. He was playing up before the demonstrators came along but they only upset him further. I bet when he got taken back to the stables he calmed down.
When horses get anxious they want to move their feet. So learning to stand in place takes training. I see that they are taking him out and around a bit which is good.
They should have taken the horse and exchanged it for another one. The poor thing was in pain and couldn't tell them how he felt. They don't need to wear spurs either. I rode horses when I was younger and once you gain the respect of the horse, they are loyal for life.
And of course you are an expert in all things of the Kings Guards a nd the Kings horses. Not like the soldiers who work with them daily and spend months training with the horses. You know all there is to know. Right
Horse is fed up, bit in mouth may be hurting, people touching it, the beating of a drum that can be heard, & spurs being probed in it's side. Poor thing just wants to run wild & free. I know all of them are taken well cared for, but some times, one can have enough.
After seeing several videos of this horse I can confirm he is a fidgety boy. Some horses are just like that, he doesn't want to really stand still and that is okay. For those thinking he has been there too long- they change guard every hour on the hour, including the horses they sit on. If any guard feels the horse is too stressed they have an emergency buzzer they can hit. This horse is just notorious for being a bit squirrely and moving a bit more than others. Props to the guard for calmly handling it and letting the horse walk. It may be beneficial for them to let the horse do some runs to get out that excess energy before saddling him up again. *No I don't mean tired them out I mean loosen the horse up so it can relax and not be so pent up which is what it looks like after seeing this horses video clips after a bit. He is just full of energy and has to get it out. Its like when we are kids and jump up out of no where cause we. just. need. to. move. everyone has experienced that as a child- honest this is probably a young horse
I understand how that poor horse feels. I can't stand the bagpipes either. Add all the tourist & I would be ready to leave too. Maybe they need to do like at the Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier - the area where the soldiers patrol is chained off so that the tourist can't disrespect the tomb.
I'm also shocked at how long they persevered with the horse, but if he'd passed his morning health check, then perhaps they knew that he was just in a bad mood...
These horses are used in many parades, often including the royal family, in which multiple military bands take part. They have to get used to all the different instruments being around them and have to learn not to react. They also have to get used to crowds of shouting, cheering people.
@@shirleyanneyoung955 yes, they do, but there are times the music &crowds are far too loud, it takes time for the horses to get used to the loud noises, also, the military bands play loudly but not enough to bother the horses, they also Don't, beat the drums in a way that, spooks the horses, it's just not necessary.!
@@patriciadavis2506 I did say the horses have to get used to the loud noises, the implication being that a horse won’t immediately be expected to stand calmly the first time they are exposed to noise. I’m not sure where your “knowledge” of drumming comes from but if you say the loud drumming from a military band isn’t the same as the loud drumming from every other type of band or lone drummer then I’m sure you think you’re right, ditto the “muted loudness” of the military bands to cater to the hearing of the horses. Maybe they just all walk on tiptoes to mute the sound of their footsteps. 🤣🤣🤣
No wonder the horse wanted to call it quits with the bagpipes playing away in the background, there not to everyone’s taste , you ask a German WW2 vet , because they say it’s the sound of the wailing dead. They have certainly put the fear of god into many a foe , wailing bagpipes and the devils in skirts coming at you with nothing under their kilt except a bayonet, it would certainly frighten me .
Should have been taken off duty at the first sign of trouble .Plain stupidity to try to put him/her back in the box in that condition. Public safety has to come before pride...and this was NOT safe. The fact that the guard could NOT control the horse was a first clue something was wrong---he should have got the hell out there immediately before someone got hurt. Not professional in any way at all.
The horse is absolutely bothered by something,it's mouth is the problem. I think the bit is hurting it in some way .They should change the guard and check it out.
I hate that the horse have to have the bit in their mouths as most of the horses have trouble with them I also don’t like to see the rub marks on the horse neck I think when the horse is not happy like this one they should just swop it as we all have bad days and thier will be days when they aren’t feeling well
The spurs are blunt, and they do not just "stick" the horses with them. If you have ever ridden hot horses, you would understand that they will often ignore you completely without spurs on. They are not sharp at all, and do not hurt they horses.
Although the Trooper tried amazingly to control + calm the horse...l found it upsetting it took so long before taking him in. He was either in some sort of discomfort or perhaps pain. Do hope he settled down ok back in his stable! 🐴💂💕
A demonstration on parade, people in dinosaur costumes, overly-excited little dogs barking at the dinos... and irritable, bored horses being ridden by soldiers carrying unsheathed (and extremely sharp) swords. What could go wrong?
Horses are beautiful, sensitive animals and sometimes they just get the nopes.. Just like any animal you work with, allowing THEM to call the shots is a mistake.. within limits allowing them to calm down and continue with their job is better than leading them off and encouraging misbehavior for the next time.
Why the Hell did they not just retire that horse for the day? What was the point in putting all these "visitors" at risk and obviously upset the horse and rider???
Where's the amazing Rastafarian soldier? He was brilliant with these horses. It must be really difficult for these horses and riders. The Quandry being that if they eventually let it go back to the stables, the lesson learnt is that playing up gets you off! Tricky!
The spurs are ceremonial and are blunted. The horses are well trained and extremely well looked after, and are on guard duty for just one hour a day. The UK has some if the highest animal welfare standards in the world and if these animals were being ill-used then it would make headline news.
I don't understand why the horse isn't trained to get used to the noises and all the rest like a policehorse. Don't do such things on the street, horse can fall on pavement due to slippery iron horse shoes on the stones. Thumbs up for guard.

He was tired of the people and noise.
@@virginiaalonso1927I don’t blame him. I would be tired of the people & the noise too. The drums would drive me crazy & once the bagpipes started that would really set me off. I don’t like bagpipes & never have & I am hard of hearing so I imagine the noise for the horse would be much louder & more annoying. Maybe get him a set of earplugs. Lol. Then with people pawing all over my face I would really loose it. The guard did an excellent job of controlling the horse, one handed & without o horn to hold on to. I have only ridden western & only once because the horse ran away with me. My friend had to catch up with me & stop him. I walked back to the barn because I wasn’t getting back on that horse. The horse was probably laughing his head off saying, well I certainly got her didn’t I.
Horses are individuals. Some are calm, and others are skittish. Some are gentle natured, while others are actually mean spirited. One of my uncles was killed when his horse threw him. The horse was an Arabian, but very spooky.
My father was thrown from his horse and injured.
I was nearly thrown by a spooked horse.
Horses are beautiful animals, and I enjoy them...from a distance.
I feel sorry for the horses 🐎 😢
Standing in one place and subject to
Disrespectful tourist. These are magnificent animals. The king should be outraged 😠
Poor horse just didn't want to go, probably spooked by the protesters bless him/her, and well done to the guards
So proud to be British with these service animals, military and police forces showing their long standing and historical expertise. As ‘others’ touch, joke and laugh thinking they are in Disney land.
This is why the protests shouldn’t be allowed to go down Whitehall. Too distressing for the horses.
Everyone should know a horses biting power is greater than a Pit Bull dog.
Most animals have a stronger bite than a pitbull. Horses can't stop in their chew cycle either
The horses r standing there for 1 hour per week! Not bad to have a Royalty treatment for hugs, treats, respected, lots of buddies, best food, best blankets & tack. What i don't understand is this job for these gorgeous equine... these tall & dark irish horses? They seem quite nervous. (Think of beautiful clydesdales' dispositions).
Give it up and let him go back to the Stalls, the People are scaring him. The Horse is trying toll you something! go get another Horse.
Close the gates. People are disgusting
Something is wrong with that bit or head stall. The horse is speaking as loudly as he can.
Thx. Wanted to make sure someone pointed it out.
Horse is tired of all those smelly people touching it.
😁
non il en a marre de rester des h immobile sans pouvoir bouger
@@soniaferhane7103they stand for one hour
Touching the horses should be totally forbidden
Really crazy that they don’t remove that horse completely. It obviously doesn’t want to play ball.
Horse are very stubborn ! If he is not happy nothing you can do about it !
It's not happy because it is in pain not being stubborn
Does the royal family actually sell itself as a tourist attraction?
Nothing else is done here with the King´s Guard.
Their not listening to the horse it’s horrible to watch. The horse is clearly trying to say something
It seemed like the placement of the bit was off. The horse kept worrying it and moving his mouth.
@@queenbee3647 They do that when they are nervous or bored, doesn't necessarily mean that there is something wrong with the bit. Had a bit with a roller for one of my horses, kept him occupied...rather like a fidget spinner for a child. However, my tack was nowhere near as complex as the bridle used by the horse guards with 4 reins.
I think that the bit was bothering the horse 🐎 It seemed very uncomfortable 😢
I wouldn't be a bit surprised with all those tourists grabbing the reins there being pulled from both sides and the poor guard can only use one hand to control the horse.why don't people think.
The dang drums and pipes will spook them! I’ve seen it happen a number of times!😢
@@patriciadavis2506 what about the bands who play drums while going to and from Buckingham palace and St James palace? And definitely write to whoever is in charge and lob everyone’s complaints there
It didn't matter what the guard did, that beautiful horse was having none of it. He was playing up before the demonstrators came along but they only upset him further. I bet when he got taken back to the stables he calmed down.
There is obviously something wrong with the horse.
😂😂 that little dog wasn't right sure of that costumed person.
I still feel like there is something in the boxes that is disagreeable with the horses.
It should be investigated.
Poor horses.
Spurs are part of the uniform and are for decorative purposes, they don't use them. Take a good look at the spurs next time you're near.
And of course you are an expert in all things of the Kings Guards a nd the Kings horses. Not like the soldiers who work with them daily and spend months training with the horses. You know all there is to know. Right
@@eleanorhansen6716 it doesn't take an expert to know when an animal is in pain.
Horse is fed up, bit in mouth may be hurting, people touching it, the beating of a drum that can be heard, & spurs being probed in it's side. Poor thing just wants to run wild & free. I know all of them are taken well cared for, but some times, one can have enough.
Y continue to try to make him stand there!?!?! He wants a day off WITH PAY!!
That guard did NOT just quit, the horse was hurting somehow/way & the guard took the horse to get it checked out .
The more I watch of these horses, the more I believe they are really bothered by whatever bits are being used.
Doesn't like the drums and bagpipes, probably heard them before we did.
@@patriciadavis2506 the bands usually lower their volume when they come upon the horse on the mall, but rarely do the drums get lower
@@shirleyanneyoung955 They would have been exposed as part of their training.
No tourist should be allowed to touch the horse they could have anything on there hands.
And people have to be told to step back when a horse is acting up.
Those horses are so beautiful, but man I'd say it's a rough day at the office when they act up!
Se quiere ir! A lo mejor no se siente bien 😊
Rider has zero control of horse. Sorry for the horse, bad rider
That rider is a superb horseman, YOU attempt to control that horse with one hand, and holding a sword with the other. He did a great job.
A good horse for crowd control; he certainly made people move out of his way.
11:50 He said : ''Where do you think you're going with that ridiculous trumpet? You know you scare the sh...out of the horses with that dam thing''.
Terrible intrusion ..... we protest your presences
The horse did not like the drums.
Horse are like people. Some days they say fuck it and want to stay home in the shall eating hay.
If you watch, when the drums in the background stop. He/she calms down.
The horse is absolutely bothered by something,it's mouth is the problem. I think the bit is hurting it in some way .They should change the guard and check it out.
They should get this horse inside! He is obviously in distress! 😢
I hate that the horse have to have the bit in their mouths as most of the horses have trouble with them I also don’t like to see the rub marks on the horse neck
I think when the horse is not happy like this one they should just swop it as we all have bad days and thier will be days when they aren’t feeling well
If he stops digging it with the spurs the horse will settle
They do not stick it with spurs. The horses are extremely well treated, well cared for and loved by the guards and grooms.
The spurs are blunt, and they do not just "stick" the horses with them. If you have ever ridden hot horses, you would understand that they will often ignore you completely without spurs on. They are not sharp at all, and do not hurt they horses.
Did the try changing the bit
Or loosen the curb chain ?
Pity they can’t change the whole bridle for something else eg a snaffle or hackmore
Although the Trooper tried amazingly to control + calm the horse...l found it upsetting it took so long before taking him in.
He was either in some sort of discomfort or perhaps pain.
Do hope he settled down ok back in his stable! 🐴💂💕
He’s upset by what sounds like drums and bagpipes in the distance.
shud stop protests and marchs near them its the noise that spooks them
A demonstration on parade, people in dinosaur costumes, overly-excited little dogs barking at the dinos... and irritable, bored horses being ridden by soldiers carrying unsheathed (and extremely sharp) swords.
What could go wrong?
The horse is having a 'tude. Feeling grumpy!
The horse is sensitive to that tunnel he doesn’t like it.
Obviously the noise would not help.❤️🙏🇬🇧
Horses are beautiful, sensitive animals and sometimes they just get the nopes.. Just like any animal you work with, allowing THEM to call the shots is a mistake.. within limits allowing them to calm down and continue with their job is better than leading them off and encouraging misbehavior for the next time.
Why the Hell did they not just retire that horse for the day? What was the point in putting all these "visitors" at risk and obviously upset the horse and rider???
Read all the others who have answered this question
Where's the amazing Rastafarian soldier? He was brilliant with these horses. It must be really difficult for these horses and riders. The Quandry being that if they eventually let it go back to the stables, the lesson learnt is that playing up gets you off! Tricky!
If this horse were human, it would have been a protester carrying a placard that reads "NO WORK TODAY!!"
The absurdity of how these horses are handled and no excuse for wearing those spurs on these horses. This hole guard thing is absolute animal abuse
The spurs are ceremonial and are blunted. The horses are well trained and extremely well looked after, and are on guard duty for just one hour a day. The UK has some if the highest animal welfare standards in the world and if these animals were being ill-used then it would make headline news.
It must be hard to endure as a soldier, but awful for the horses.
Maybe they don’t like drums and bagpipes
I don't understand why the horse isn't trained to get used to the noises and all the rest like a policehorse. Don't do such things on the street, horse can fall on pavement due to slippery iron horse shoes on the stones.
Thumbs up for guard.
Poor horse, must have decided, "Nah, mate, I ain't putting up with protesters and their drums nor beligerent, disrespectful tourists today, I've bldy had ENUFF, I'M OUTTA HERE, I'll THINK about returning when ppl are RESPECTFUL, POLITE, CONSIDERATE AND LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!! And I'm not even gonna mention those noisy migraine inducing scsry prats
Something spooked this poor horse, someone in the audience made him want to bolt. In my opinion
There was drums and horn beating
Horse says Not today...
EDIT: It looks like his/her bit is the problem.
think the horse was pissed off with the 1970 cereal bowl haircut , my sister and brothers from the kitchen salon feel your pain
Just break my heart to see theses beautiful soul's having to stand there to keep the tourists happy should running around in open fields not to please bloody stupid people its cruel if you asked me
Probably wouldn't exist if it wasn't for this job - and we all do things we don't want to do.
Poor horses I feel for them, they've had enough of the whole scenario. Don't know why they have to have them there as props.
They are not props, they and the rider are working soldiers. It's the morons who think they are at Disneyland and are being disrespectful.
Exactly!!.....Should be in a field running free
