    Talking about problems, in the open, is usually a step forward but only because the problem gets solved or at least reduced either by the worrier finding a solution or someone helping out. If, instead, you just talk about your problems but make no progress towards solutions then that is 'rumination' and worse than useless. it is also pretty bad if you come up with something you think is a solution but in fact it makes matters worse.
