Love it that you guys did this review! Although a real test can only be done using it at an actual event. I've not heard the Maui. But have used the EVOX 12. The EVOX is a clear and articulate full range speaker. Many people incorrectly think the bottom of the EVOX is a Sub cabinet. It is NOT a Subwoofer. It is just a very high output 15" full range driver with enough low end to satisfy most people at a party. But if you're looking for real THUMP!, you need to add a dedicated subwoofer. Then you're gonna really feel it and you won't stop smiling at how good the system Sounds AND Feels. Peace Out fellas. Great video.
Love this debate. OK lets get it... I recently purchased a set of Maui 44 g2's I used them for about 5 weddings. I was in love with them but hated loading and unloading from a car. I then a week later attended a wedding where the DJ had the Evox 12's. Short of the story is I sold my Maui 44's and picked up the Evox 12's. The main reason was on the dance floor there was more sound and punch from the speakers than there was with the Mauis. The RCF I could actually feel the bass and mid punch there as the Mauis the sound was more all over the room. Im super happy with my switch to RCF even though the technology is older.
2nd comment. Bang per buck and versatility, I'll take the RCF. I'd say they would both do fairly large rooms with crowds up to 300 guests without any issue. Dancefloors don't usually have 300 people on them and that's the main concern. You can run wireless satellite speakers to cover other areas if need be. I don't think anyone would complain about the sound system either way. But for the money I think RCF is the winner.
I own a pair of the Maui 44 G2’s and boy do they rock. I’m in So. Cali. I’ve done many events since getting them in January. 300+ person event with plenty of headroom at a major event location in Los Angeles extremely clear and awesome. I no longer have my EVOX sold the pair. No I only use the G2 my pair’s of Evolve 30’s and 50’s for different event types.
@@djmojoeofficial haven’t heard those as I also own a pairs of the Maui 5 go, Evolve 30M’s and Evolve 50’s. All have superb sound quality and ease of setup with a nice clean look. **The Maui 5 Go’s I use for cocktail, ceremonies and very small backyard events
I own RCF EVOX 12 and added an RCF 18" active sub 708 which makes this system the best I've heard in a while. I drive them from a Denon controller through a DBX Driverack PA2 with incredible results.
@@djmojoeofficial I control the EVOX 12 speakers and sub with a DBX Driverack PA2. So I use the electronic crossover in the Driverack to feed the sub the frequency and level it needs. The Driverack handles that as well as auto EQ, feedback control, compression, limiting all in a one rack space. It also allows for any delay, phasing, parametric EQ, which I have not needed yet.
Yes! That's how to do it!! (A lot of people do not realize that bottom of the EVOX 12 is NOT a subwoofer, but a very high power full range 15". For real subwoofer "feel", you gotta add the sub. But nevertheless, the EVOX 12 IMO is real real good as a very clear and articulate full range speaker).
Wedding DJ here and I’ve owned a pair of Evox 12’s for the last 8 months, here’s my take.. For context, In 2021 I bought 2 Bose Pro 16’s and I loved them, however I noticed a difference from the front of the dance floor and the back of the dance floor. The guests in front were absorbing the sound coming from the drivers and it sound completely different in the back, almost muffled. With the Evox 12’s, I can raise the tops a couple feet to increase the throw significantly. In this video it looks like the RCF is on the first hole and it can be raised even higher. Unless you’re on a stage, you can’t physically increase the throw of the Maui’s. If I’m in the middle of the dance floor and I have tables to the left and right of me, I am able to turn the tops towards the tables for better sound, you can’t do that with the Maui’s. I hear people talking about the low ends or lack thereof on the Evox’s.. I use a Yamaha 10 channel mixer which takes less than a minute to setup and I adjust the EQ’s to the speakers. In addition, the Evox 12 subs have a feature, like suitcase luggage, where I can extend a latch on the back of the sub and roll it around, I absolutely love this!! My only con for the Evox 12’s is that they do not come in white. I’m sure the Maui’s are great, but The RCF Evox 12’s can easily perform for 300 guests.
hi thank you very much for the great video i wonder if this kind of systems would perform fine also in a home stereo set-up they should have a very low distortion when not pushed and good dispersion too
You’re welcome! I think the Maui LD Maui will be better for you. The sound covers throughout the column which is good if you’re sitting down experiencing your home stereo system and watching.
@@djmojoeofficial hi thank you again for the very kind and valuable reply I have read that the secret of great sound is to keep noise and distortion very low These systems are designed to provide music with extremely low distortion I would play one side to side to so called High end systems costing thousands of dollars The results could be surprising Kind regards Gino
The RCF is a 7 year old design so hopefully there will be an update coming soon. The LD systems is a new design. I prefer the LD's feature set and sound quality and coverage.
Yeah the pole isn't my favorite. Thinking about replacing my Evox 8 with the LD Maui 28 G3 because of the modern design but then i started wondering if I should upgrade to the 44 G2's which is how I stumbled upon this video.
Sound performance depends a lot on the track you select I've noticed. Some have very good sonic separation in the different bands, where others have been recorded flat (mids-highs-lows) and sound muddy or indistinct. FWIW I own the 44g2, it tends to render sound better at higher volumes.
Hey there, have you noticed you don't hear much sound through the middle section of the Maui 44 G2? I mean the middle piece. Both of my speakers don't seem to have much sound coming out of that section. Is that normal?
To anyone watching this video, please consider this…… I own ev evolve 50’s and now the Maui 44 G2. One of my buddies owns the evox 12. If you are comparing the two here’s my .02….. If you bought the evox and put it in a 150 event and then half way through swapped over to the Maui 44 G2, not a single guest would notice the difference. The truth is, both of these column array systems are probably the 2 best on the market today (in 2022). Choose either one and you are now owning one of the best column array systems on the market. Why did I buy the Maui over the evox 12? For me it came down to having independent bass control for the subs. I do weddings and am mainly going laying top 40, rap etc and when ppl are dancing I like to go a little bass heavy; so choosing the system that had a sub volume knob was pretty important to me. Is the Maui better? I wouldn’t say that’s the question. I believe the Maui is better, but the question you should be asking is, is it $1000 better then the evox. I know people who post that they do 200 person events with a pair of evolve 50’s (which is crazy to me) and they believe in their head that it’s enough. I think these systems will suffice up to 175-200 guests in a medium sized room. Anything over that and I feel you’ll really be pushing the system to hard. I’m going to be putting out a video on the Maui 44 in the next couple weeks.
I heard some people saying that the db es 1203 is identical or even better than what evox 12. What is your opinion in this case? I am considering buying one of these... Thank you..
I was told you're actually supposed to put the Maui at 3 o'clock for best performance, not at 12 o'clock. I now own the Maui (and EV-50) but the RCF definitely sounds more clear in your demo.
What about the weight of tbe subs?which is more practical and easier to do a mobile event? Is one person able to lift a woofer sub. I heard the RCF subs are bulky and hard to lift into a van. Can you show us a video on one of you lifting the sub to show us that it is or isn’t manageable by 1 person. Thanks
I'm an RCFs guy too- RCF get really loud and have super nice low ends- they sound pretty good- However to be honest they always seem to lack the warm sound of other speakers like EV50s, QSCs, Maui, Bose, etc.
I own RCF’s Evox J8’s so I may be a little biased however, the clarity from the LD was obviously better 👍 (No client would ever care-only us DJ “Nerds “🤣)
haha yes, it’s only us that really care about them 😂 I think the clarity is there because there’s speakers throughout the whole column. For the EVOX 12, there isn’t. But as you step back to hear the EVOX 12, it sounds really good (louder volume)
I use the driveback with it major difference more gain, and I say a bit more bass, but is more on the punching side out of all 3 the Maui 44g2 has the most low end 🤔 my opinion
If RCF team had let the amp be more powerful and tad better driver (they actually make drivers too) it would eat most systems. Maybe even one 1” hf would helped rcf. The 44 has much better woofer driver inside all together. I need to go test the 44 out tempting! Hats off to LD nice looking system
To my ears… no contest the LD takes for mobile djs. Fuller low-end, less harsh mids and highs. I will say that it’s hard to tell if the LD is just louder at 12 o’clock than the evox. It’s all just personal preference, of course. I don’t think they’re ready Joe 😏.
I own the LD"s 44's and they hit hard! As long as you play with in their range they'll rock any 250 peps wedding with a night club bass hitting sound. Over drive them with distortions and clipping and they WILL take a 15 minute protection break on you. But play clean and you'll be fine
@@MobilediscowirralCoUk Why would anyone use mono when all material is in stereo? i don't get why some people like mono, if it's a smaller gig just use 2 smaller speakers.
Im not sure this is a fair comparison at the levels they are set at. RCF speakers generally need more input to get going than all my other speakers. All of my RCF I run around 1-2 o’clock. At 12 o’clock they are just soft. Also when listening to this through my headphones the evox sound way better, clearer.

I don't know but I rather go for the Line Array JBL MK1 or MK2 because of its true portability.. I mean this Arrays are more likely still a Big PA System because of their bulkiness and how annoying to carry those Line Arrays separated from the sub. It's still like bringing a Tripod for your Top speakers except that they are already the top drivers.. If Portable then it means you only have to accommodate 100 to 150 Pax. If you wanted more powerful for a 200 up people then I rather bring Standard PA System than Arrays because It has the same factor of Setup. The only Big Arrays acceptance for me is the one they use in big concerts.

Test them gainst JBL Partybox 310/710 or 1000. I bet them all beat both of them. I use 310 JBLs for small out door partys and they are loud and have heavy bass.

That G2 is the truth!
Evox sounds way bigger and fuller, specially on mid frequencies
I have Ld and don’t like👎
quickly enter limiter clip 🥴
of course, take it back to the store no moor Ld system👎
tests are done in a large room🤓
Aren't they cheap?
Cheap is relative, I think they’re good for what they’re worth
That tells u a lot Rcf is down a few speakers and still holds its own
Rcf sounds clear and punchy. Ld sounds muddy
Test them gainst JBL Partybox 310/710 or 1000. I bet them all beat both of them. I use 310 JBLs for small out door partys and they are loud and have heavy bass.
Cool, thanks for the suggestion.
saving the city one party at a time, lol this isnt a saturday morning superhero cartoon
LD sounds fuller
Winner RCF
RCF
The LG has 16 speakers and 2 horns and two 8 inch subs the LG beats all and made in UK not china
wrong model the 44 has a 15".
Aesthetically the LDs are winners. The Rcfs haven’t been updated in years
Don’t need to update anything they sound a work great
@@ronaldwhite3836 They should update they have the technology, but they prefer you buy their higher end stuff.
selling my j8s for mauis
Awesome! They’re great speakers too!
If you want a new challenge try them vs Bose L1 Pro 32 and let's see :-)
Ohhh, yes, I need to reach out to some DJ friends and set that up! :)
@@djmojoeofficial Can't wait to see that, thanks so much because this is such a HUGE investment about that Bose L1 Pro 32. Will help a lot !
RCF👍
I have Ld quickly enter the limits clipping 👎👎Return to store
LD Better
Ld systems is no in top 10 of profi and nice systems ..
Can't understand what you're saying.
The RCF lacks a lot of midrange and the upper frequencies sound harsh and unnatural.
Maui 44 all the way rcf too bright
Rcf is better in every detail !!!
RCF 130DB MAUI 44 132DB.
horrible choice of music to test with
Appreciate your opinion. What would you suggest that may be better?
Seriously 😂
