I brought a pair Icoa 15 from zzounds $799 with the no credit check pay monthly plan these speakers are great for the price build Quality is top notch the look of them are great they are just heavy and don’t have a high pass xover and my opinion they aren’t loud Enuff to run with out a sub I run mine with Fbt maxx10sa 15” sub 900watts rms and it’s clean punchy sound
I personally own the12” versions of these. I can say the quality is over the top. The price does not match the speaker… but in a good way. They sound, act, perform better than any price point like this. I own QSC K12.2’s also. These are not quite K12.2’s but close.
I got unlucky and had a bad amp on one of my Icoa 12a's but now I have two good speakers I agree with you. These sounded fantastic tonight along with my LD Dave 18g3 sub. These have to be THE best PA speaker that you can get for under £300 in the UK. No competition.

I have been watching this on my iPad while playing the audio through the exact same speaker you just reviewed and I can 100% back up what your review said. I bought mine as a speaker to be used while playing in a live setting using it only as a stage volume speaker for my electronic drum kit! It is amazingly crisp, and every bit as punchy as you guys said it was! I am truly blown away!
I have 3 12A's and use them as floor monitors and My band is very happy with them. No boomy sound, crisp high's and they are loud enough to hear over a Mesa stack and an SVT.
When permanently installing it, you can install vertical or horizontal. When you place it horizontally, your dispersion changes. So you rotate the horn to keep the proper acoustics.
Love LD Systems overall as a company. Almost every product of theirs I used has been phenomenal. I own the Maui 44 columns & absolutely adore them. Been contemplating the ICOA line to replace my EV ELX200 system
Very good review and an interesting speaker. I hope they increase their retail availability in Canada. Some feedback though: it's very clear that you know a great deal about speakers and amps but it is undermined by a small knowledge gap regarding microphones and mixers. I know some who would watch your review and hear a misunderstanding of phantom power and assume you don't know what you are talking about. I'm not one of them, and will be back for your next video but wanted to leave some hopefully constructive feedback.
I agree , his comment about the mic's was off...the input sensitivity on the speakers are probably not very high....running through a mixer and you can get a lot more gain....phantom power has nothing to do with the result he was getting.
Great informative video guys! I really appreciate the time and effort spent making this content. I am a mobile DJ that has a powerful passive set of tops and subs that of course requires that I bring a large amp rack. I also have a pair of EV ZLX 15P's used for small events. A few months ago I purchased a pair of LD Icoa 18 subs on a whim. They sound great with plenty of punch. I set the crossovers at 100Hz and my EV's have light duty, but still get over-powered by the Icoa subs. All of this said, my EV's are rated at 1000 watts/250 watts continuous and these are slightly higher. I'm thinking about adding a pair of these to the subs. Hopefully they will deliver the top end punch, but if not, I still can add the EV's! Thanks for making this great video!!
Ld systems are a super good and popular speaker brand they just dont fail you need to try out the maui 44g2 they are outstanding they are pricy but well worth it
Another great review! Those speakers look and sound amazing. I didn't know they existed until I saw them here. I will be putting these on my future purchase list for sure. Thanks dudes!
great review! glad to see you guys still jammin!! yes id seen a while back these speakers! 300 w rms? they gota jam! my older harbinger v2215 only put out 180 rms. so yeah theyll jam!! and great price!
Sound is logarithmic ...not linear.... so spl db doesn't directly correlate to rms power values Also you DO NOT need phantom power for a dynamic mic ...just a proper pre amp gain stage ... (+60db and not +10db line level)
Saved me from saying it. Plus the fact that being set to 0db at the input DOES NOT mean that there's still 15db of gain before peak. How much additional gain is possible would depend on the level of audio reaching the input of the speaker.
Hi there! What settings are You using now? And I am reffering at that 4 option from back (FULL RANGE, FLAT, SATELITE, MONITOR) And what levels are You using at bass, mids and highs, because You said You don't like the presets that came with them! So, Which are yours?
since the horn can be rotated when set on its side LD should make special brackets for the 12s that allow you to stack them up on top of each other since the sides are flat and you can stack them like line arrays
@2 Dudes Audio Awesome review keep up the good work, my one arrived yesterday oh wow is it so nice, I may have to treat myself to the second one haha, my neighbours will hate me LMAO.
you got the phantom power wrong, phanto power doesn't give you more volume, it's just a different kind of microphone that needs external voltage to work, like Condenser capsule microphones. Also most PA systems aren't designed for direct microphone input, they are supposed to be used with a mixer and you work with line level signal so you can get the full power out of the speaker.
Nice review. By the looks of the channel it appears you don't keep the speakers. However if you do I recommend doing follow up reviews.. Like 1 year later review and how well they held up. Also, would you recommend these over any of the Harbinger?
I admit, I was worried about only getting 300 watts RMS. But the SOUND that came out of those things at 40 feet away was RIDICULOUS.....And that was only ONE????
Also top end speakers rarely go beyond 300-400 Watts RMS. I’m talking about rcf, jbl, ev… you name it. They all the declare 1000 or 2000 watts on their specs but that’s just because people associate watts to loudness. They also put imaginary SPL numbers to fool people. Do not fall for any of these data. A very important factor It’s the sensitivity of the speaker. And that’s no coincidence that it’s very rarely mentioned at all
How are they outside in the heat for cooling. No fans to help out. Looking at getting some for my outdoor rodeo events. Currently using 2 QSC KW152 Speakers along with some old peavy 15 inch plastic body speakers. Looking for something durable and Solid. The price is unbelievable. Any knowledge on the 12s by LD SYSTEMS? Great video
Serious question: As you have taken this thing apart, do you know if it has a normal passive crossover? I guess so, Don't think it's bi-amped. The reason why I'm asking is: I am looking for a good monitor I can mod for passive or active operation. Depending on my rig, I need both options depending on the situation. Currently I have separate speakers for that, one of them died and I want to free up space and simplify. Thank you so much for your review!
Update: I've asked the LD Systems/Adam Hall tech support about this: These speakers are in fact bi-amped. Maybe that's also why they sound so bloody good. So no chance of modding them to be fed by a powered mixer.

For guitar and modeler is sounds much better than headarush FRFR. The best mode for guitar is to use "monitor" eq, lows -10db, mids +2db, highs 0db. Then you will get flat response within +-3db from 100Hz to 20kHz. Bluetooth has a lot of noise. The best is to control volume of BT using master and set max vol on phone.

There is more to audio quality than punch and dynamics. What about freedom from resonances & distortion, low coloration and the ability to resolve nuance and subtlety? In other words: high fidelity.
Pa subs smaller than 18" are not subs, they are bass-mids and drop dbs below 80hz. Compression drivers bigger than 2" are not highs, they are mid highs and drop dbs above 10khz. You can see this on your gizmo, try the same song through a decent hifi, even a car system and you will see much more highs and low, nearly everything is between 80hz and 10khz through two way systems, even worse is the distortion at crossover but that get complicated. Sound is a myriad of comprimises, 15" is the best two way comprimise but is terrible. Please review 3 way and 2.1 systems like ld's Dave g418, hk's lucas 2k18 and even the cheap and probably nasty power dynamics pdcombo18.
im guessing its because (unlike most companies who misrepresent their claimed figures for spl and rms) these guys (LD) seem to be stating honest figures? Like 300wrms and 128dB.
