I meant Loretta Lynn when I was 19 years old. She was staying at a Stouffer's hotel and she came in for breakfast every day for approximately 4 days. And lucky me I got to wait on her. To this day she still the most nicest human beings I have ever met! I mean that most sincerely!
When Loretta first came to Nashville she bought my cousins house and chicken business. The property joined my grandparents so I knew the whole family. This was before the twins were born. One of the twins still lives there I think her name is Peggy . I was close friends with Ernest and we rode horses together. I have lots of memories of the Lynn family. I am sad that Loretta pasted away. She will always be my favorite singer she was the most country person I ever met. I am thankful that I really actually knew this family and they will always live on in my memories. 🌹☮️❤️🎶
He's a pretty good ole' guy too (notwithstanding what he calls his "totally decrepit youth"). All the women he's been married to say he's a great dad -- and in my book, that counts for a lot.
She looks so pretty. She sparkles, just like her outfit. And the Rod Stewart story was hilarious- "I want Lorreta's picture". There was never anyone like her before, and there will never be anyone like her again. Rest in Heaven, Loretta Lynn.
Rest In Peace Loretta Lynn you are the inspiration of many singers she was a truly a groundbreaking role in country music what a talented singer songwriter guitar player
It’s that classic Eastern Kentucky drawl, even to people like me who live in West Virginia, they have pretty thick accents. I know we probably aren’t much better lol
All of us are on this earth for a relatively short time . She lived to 90 ,an age most will never see BUT she gave so much to the country music genre in that time. She was a treasure to those of us who enjoyed her music
I grew up in Hazard not far from Butcher Holler, and to see the passing of Ms. Loretta is to see the passing of an era of women who possess true grit. Never forgotten where she came from. You can plainly see she seemed always worry free, from a "I'll handle my business" mindset.
@Beatrice Brown I can't believe I actually know this, but in the hills, where areas were called "Hollows" each one was locally called for the families. Hers was for the Butcher family. And I went to confirm this, and was delighted to see I was right, and it IS a very real place on today's map. But the name had NOTHING to do with a song. Wrong and yelling about it!
@@ellenw391 It’s real for sure. I got to visit Loretta’s house in Butcher Holler more than 20 years ago. I located the Webb Country Store run by her brother who took me and two other people on a tour of the house. I recall that the sign for Butcher Holler was made of wood. There was no official metal sign.
Loretta Lynn was the most down to earth person on the circuit of singers and songwriters. She was kind-hearted to everyone she met. Wish I could have met her. Rest in peace Loretta I'm not a country western fan but you made me Loretta Lynn fan. God bless your soul and your family have fun up there and heaven with everyone and all the fur babies. Love you I wish we were friends at one time
Letterman was very respectful toward her. Even when joking, he was mindful he didn't want to say anything that could have been awkward. Certain guests, he was very capable of "minding his manners."
I will miss your beautiful singing voice and to just know that we want have you here any more to sing for all of your fans is just heart breaking.R.I.P. Loretta
I saw her at Nashville Indiana , at a small venue where I also saw George Jones and Don Williams . But Loretta was so cool , it seemed more like a visit with her . Each song included a story about how it came about and why she wrote it. The venue has since burned down and along with it lots of history
It's a great story. I'd probably prefer to have my picture taken with Loretta too. I'm not that big of a country music fan, but my grandmother was a huge Loretta Lynn fan. Hearing Loretta always makes me think of my grandmother. May they both rest in eternal peace.
Yep. Those were her very early shows at very small venues...places like the local Elks Lodge and small honky tonks. Bless her little heart, it'd give her the headache that lasted almost the whole week to know she had to go sing in front of people. So glad she got to where she actually loved performing! She credited her success to God, her husband, and to all the "FRIENDS" that bought her music and came to her shows. That meant the world to her, to be able to raise her family a lot better off financially than how she was raised. A parent always wants more for their children.
"Coal Miner's Daughter" touched upon it, but her friendship with Patsy Cline was real and special. Two incredible voices/women, at different stages of their lives, learning from and depending upon on one another. The film "Patsy & Loretta" tells this story quite nicely using some authentic Nashville locations.
Wow what a great and beautiful and humble lady she was I always wish that I could have had a mama like her this is so heartbreaking that we lost another amazing talent like Loretta Lynn rest in beautiful peace beautiful lady
She has the same charm as Dolly Parton. Both are very witty, with a great sense of humor. My mom loved listening to Loretta Lynn, and also when she sang duets with Conway Twitty, an cut an album together. I was only a kid at the time, but my parents would take me to the bar with them, and I learned to play pool. Different times then, and this wasn’t some country town, but Burbank, CA, home of the Tonight Show, and Disney Studios.
She was the sweetest , tough cookie .God Bless You Ms Loretta Lynn .You are in all our hearts Siempre.Respectfully , Rowena Suarez of. Manchester Township , New Jersey and Manila Mesa , California
She really was nice to her fans. I've seen her stay after a show to sign autographs for all who wanted one. This included people who couldn't/didn't get into the show. Ernest Ray was the same. People would stand outside her shows in tears.
So happy he didn't get arrogant and try to "dumb her down". She always said, "I might be ignorant, but I ain't stupid!" and she wasn't. Also, she really appreciated the compliment about her beauty and blushed because when she was a little girl, her Grandpa told her she wasn't pretty. She said that always stuck with her, and she does the best she can.
Whenever I saw Loretta Lynn perform, she always seemed like a "what you see is what you get," kind of person. And now, everything you read or hear about her says that was exactly how she was. She was talking about her mental health when it wasn't the "in" thing to do. So interesting that the simple girl from Butcher Hollow who many called "a hillbilly" was the smartest of them all. Rest well, Loretta. I hope you are playing music with the your Daddy and Mama in Heaven.
I meant Loretta Lynn when I was 19 years old. She was staying at a Stouffer's hotel and she came in for breakfast every day for approximately 4 days. And lucky me I got to wait on her. To this day she still the most nicest human beings I have ever met! I mean that most sincerely!
I wish I 'meant' her too.
Good for you 😁.
That's a lovely memory. You're lucky to have it.

Rest In Heaven, Loretta. What a lovely and talented woman. Amazing singer.
Queen of country music, classy and charming lady. RIP
you would never know she was one of the greatest artist ever and owned her own town. So humble. Don't see that anymore
she was one. Great Lady and songwriter and singer
I do but you have to dig for it. The left wing media doesn't like it.
She was genuinely a beautiful person. God bless her RIP
Bet Rod brags about that now.
Notta country fan myself, but she was a one-of-a-kind gift to treasure. Much respect, Ms. Lynn...

RIP, Loretta. Your fans loved you so much!
Loretta remained her authentic self while fueling our souls with real country music!! Rip Kentuckys queen of country!!

The country music queen, RIP at least her music will never die.
She held her own. She was sharp, sweet and gracious. She'll be so missed.
I love her cute accent, love her voice.R.I.P Loretta.
It’s that classic Eastern Kentucky drawl, even to people like me who live in West Virginia, they have pretty thick accents. I know we probably aren’t much better lol
It reminds me of Donna Douglas (even though Donna was from Louisiana).
When I hear a drawl I think of family. My parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents all had one.
All of us are on this earth for a relatively short time . She lived to 90 ,an age most will never see BUT she gave so much to the country music genre in that time. She was a treasure to those of us who enjoyed her music
They just don't make em like Loretta anymore. What a genuine sincere Human being and she sure can sing.. Will be missed incredibly by so many..

Everytime.......you can just see how sweet she was. Rest in paradise Loretta.
My dad worked on Lorretas ranch back in the 70s-80s she was a really sweet woman RIP Loretta
She seems like a lovely person. Owned her own town, that's cool.
Letterman was very respectful toward her. Even when joking, he was mindful he didn't want to say anything that could have been awkward. Certain guests, he was very capable of "minding his manners."
Her smarts and personality demand respect without having to say it. When he made the crack about small animals, she was right on it.

Loretta was truly authentic and country. She brought so much entertainment to these interviews. Letterman and Carson must have loved to have her on.
Anyone else noticed they lowered the volume to her applause at the beginning? Loretta was fabulous!
I heard it...those eastern producers hate southerners.
