Comparing the camera of the Autel Nano+ to the Air 2S seems quite a stretch to me. You also don’t mention some of the features included on the Nano+ not found on the Mini 2, such as obstacle avoidance. I’m not trying to be disrespectful toward you but your comments don’t seem fair to me. Packing the sensors in to the Nano+ drone allowing the obstacle avoidance feature while keeping the drone at 249 grams seems worthy of mention to me if you’re going to talk pricing compared to the Mini 2.
Thanks but no. I’m not fond of mini drones at all, and watched this one because of the comparison to the Air 2S, which I do fly. I will be watching any video you do about the Lite+, which I’m looking at with great interest.
Speaking just for drone flyers from the US, the price is more important to most of us than the weight of the drone. So this comparison makes more sense because the price of these two drones in much closer than the Nano+ vs the Mini 2. For anyone who purchased the Mini 2 because the $449 price point fit their budget, the $799 price of the Nano+ is most likely a non starter. And no matter how good the camera is on the Nano+ it doesn't really matter until the get rid of video jello in all the units they sold so far. Great video Aldryn.
At that price I would just go for the air 2s.. that's a pretty hefty price for a product that "isn't quite there".. hopefully we see something soon on a possible mini 3.. and if that doesn't happen or it doesn't have some really nice upgrades then I will probably just upgrade from the original mini 1 to the mini 2.
Surprisingly, I have to agree with most comments, that the video quality is better on the Nano+. Detail, dynamic range and sharpness all look superior to my eyes. I prefer the colour profile as well. Of course it can't compete with the Air 2s in flight dynamics.
I own an Air 2S and personally I prefer the 'softer' look of its footage, but the Nano+ does definitely have greater sharpness and I prefer the color of the Nano+ (at least in this video).
To everyone saying that the nano+ has better video quality…both of them have great video, but I think that having flatter colours is better, than oversaturated colours like nano+….it’s easier grading the colours and looks better having a flat profile
I really like that Autel line up. As for the Nano? I think it could of been better built. Like you said about the gimbal, and battery compartment. I think Autel could of covered it up a little better like DJI? and for the plastic? Maybe they could of used better plastic? But I'm sure it's weight would of been over. Either way, I think it's a great drone. Even though a lot of people has been complaining about the wind and how easy it gets tossed around? Thanks for sharing. 👍 👍 👍
The Air 2S is a much better proposition at that price point and is capable of doing professional work either for real estate photography and video as well as visual roof and building inspections.
Autel have done a fantastic job, the Nano+, in my opinion compares well to the Air 2s, and the Lite+ is amazing. With this competition, I'm very interested to see how DJI respond with their new drone offerings. I'm sure we'll see a Mini 3 this year, but could we also see a successor to the Air 2s
Thanks for your comparison. Both of these flying cameras produce nice video, at least in daylight. The N+ colors are cooler than the A2S. I see more detail in the N+ video, not just due to the sharpening, actually more detail. The A2S has more pixel bunching, particularly in high frequency areas like grass and fields. What are the bit rates of the produced videos that we are looking at?
Disagree, N+ is oversharpened, so it actually loses detail the finer detail. The A2S footage is much more organically looking which is a bummer cause I hoped I could get the same quality and features in a smaller package.
@@zeeninetynine I agree that N+ is oversharpened. However, look closely at 2:12, with road zig-zag road and rolling hills, for example. Notice how the grassy features on the hills tend to blend together and disappear in the A2S shot while there is definite detail visible in the N+ shot. Hopefully, we will someday be able to reduce the in-camera sharpening on the N+ as can be done with the E2P Style function.
@@Rubik3x That may well be youtube's compression losing the less contrasty detail. However, by now I have now seen some comparison videos with Mini 2 where the better dynamic range of Nano+ is apparent. Since I need a tiny drone, I am willing to give it a try and hope for picture profile control improvement in the firmware. Pre-ordered!
You requested for comments on the clearer video quality of the Autel vs. the DJI drone. While your statement that you can add detail to your images via post production or editing is correct, getting detail input while filming is the best way to go. As a professional photographer, getting detail up front not only means resolution (aka detail) but tonal color improvement which is a whole different world as opposed to detail. This why the Autel video appears more saturated than that of the DJI. I’d rather have all this upfront than wasting time on post production trying to get these back in.
Actually I think autel is less saturated, but a little over sharpened. But out of camera nano+, lite+ and air2s all look fantastic with minimal post needed.
@@FlytPath Agreed, it's oversharpened which emphasises the most prominent details but the finer detail like foliage or ground has a cheap plastic look. Even Mini 2 footage looks better. Disappointing.
I’d really like to see autel win with the nano, but it’s price to performance ratio is quite high. Seems there are two camps of reviews. One being optimistically gentle, and the other much more critical. Speed control/wind resistance and gimbal vibration issues have been demonstrated in many reviews. Unfortunately, both may be hardware related. At the nano price point I’m definitely in the wait and see camp.
I almost got the Mini or Air2s, but my DJI Phantoms are bricked at my house despite LAANC for 200 feet. Now I have the Nano+ and your footage shows it just as good, if not better. I love the color coming out of the new sensor technology of my Nano+ and how smooth it flies. (I don't do juvenile racing.). Also the quick download for sharing. The obstacle avoidance saved the day when backing up to do a fly over and I looked around and saw a lamp post. I don't have that battery issue. I prefer my Evo2 Pro HDR for twilight, and filter options. But the Nano+ is nice with my dog on crowded coastal walk.
@@FlytPath …I agree the quirks are a pain, but not a big mistake. It is pretty sweet as it is. Perfect is the enemy of good. Seems like the Nano+ would be a direct competitor to the Husban Zino mini pro. Do you have any comments on which would be the best purchase? Really wanting to get the obstacle avoidance and precision landing that my Mini 2 does not have. Thx for sharing.
The videos cannot be compared unless you edit in post or at least set them up manually before filming. Some drones look way better with the default mode settings. The price is ridiculous and not worth it. Geo Fencing is coming out on all drones eventually and it’s there for a reason. So easy to get it unlocked within a minute or less 99% of the time. Enjoy everyone.
I did notice that the gimbal dampeners on that particular drone are installed incorrectly. I think they had a production snafu the first month of production. The dampeners should be vertical not horizontal. There is another reviewer contacted Autel and confirmed this issue.
The only advantage of Autel is that its marketing "Its Made In USA". Else its completely behind compared to dji, I mean completely. Given its price to mini 2.
I find the Nano+ to look really over sharpened. A lot of people interpret this as ‘detail’ but to me it looks a little artificial. (I’ve just got to the part in your video where you mention this, just as I finished typing it!) Can you adjust it?
