Thanks for the great comparison. I think I'll be going with the Neo for the quick shot functions. @Ace-001 yeah. I probably am not going to buy a neo because there's too much that is the same... Although if someone in my family were to gift it to me... I'm not gonna say no 🤣
that is because most people go in their settings and choose 1080p and not 4k why is this you might be asking me it is because 1080p you can choose how much fps you want but for 4k its only 30 fps
@@Idk-tv8gf nah the difference was to do with compression artefacts showing on the neo, very similar to over-optimised JPEGs. Tweaking settings can improve it a bit, but obvs it is inferior camera anyway.
I wish there was a proper comparison of the image quality without the electronic image stabilization of NEO. The issue with the stabilization (EIS) enabled is that it uses a smaller area of the sensor than it’s capable of, resulting into cropped low resolution videos and photos upscaled into 4K. Without the EIS, the resolution should be the same in both drones, minus the stabilization. That should at least result into similar quality photos In optimal conditions.
Here’s an update, I finally got the NEO with RC-N3. It seems that the EIS can’t be turned off via the app if you control with RC-N3/smartphone. According to DJI, switching to 4:3 aspect ratio should turn off the EIS, but there’s no such setting with RC-N3/smartphone. Apparently these settings are only available while using DJI Goggles N3. The camera image always tries to stay level, as if it had a 3-axis gimbal, which means that quite a lot of cropping is happening because of EIS. So the actual resolution you get is perhaps something between 1080p-2.7K upscaled to 4K while using the 4K mode in NEO.
Mini 4K dropped to 230€ in the Prime Day and will probably drop again in the next Prime Day (October) or Black Friday (November). So: If you want the Neo, get the Neo. If you want the best budget drone in the market, get the 4K. As simple as that.
But they're for two different things, I think the Neo is a great intro drone. It's almost idiot proof, it does nifty things like follow you around, and you can use goggles with it so it's an intro to FPV. It's cheaper (200 dollars) and on sale it still would be cheaper than the 4k.
I bought the NEO since I am a complete nub with drones. I also really liked the fact that the guards were there so my grand children can be around / play with it and not be hurt. I did buy an N3 controller after a week or so and that opened up a lot more fun for us. Thanks for this video. Was very informative and helps allot.
Using the Neo with the goggles 3 is an amazing experience, you can get it into some really tight spots that the Avata can’t even manage. Such a fun little drone
C'mon. Not that much. There is no such a big difference even regarding tight places to fly with one or another. Besides, Avata enters quite dark places in exploratory flights, and Neo struggles flying in darker places. Neo is way superior, but Neo of course is also lots of fun. 😊

Nice review! I have a few drones, including the Avata 2. The reason I’m picking up the DJI NEO is just for super quick shots and the follow-me mode. The DJI Mini 4K doesn’t have follow-me (without third-party apps), so you’d have to jump up to at least the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Think they both have their use for sure.

And I feel safer with the Neo specially with 5 year old kid around. I got the combo … i’ve always had the fear of losing my drone so my thought process is that its just a $199 device and just replace it if I lose it haha *To add: Been very helpful for travels. Imagine, having a baby, carrying so much stuff and add a drone, its RC and it's batteries. But being able to just bring a small piece of device that operates via phone, and has quickshot buttons really makes sense. Furthermore, the way the Neo is built with crashguards built-in, I never had to worry that my drone might accidentally hit someone, more specially my kids
the mini 4K costs like 100$ (drone itself) and if you dont care about 4K you can find a mini 2 se for 150$ or 200$ fly more combo used ish. I've even see people buy fly more combos of the orignal mavic mini for 50$.

Thanks, that helped a lot, exactly the comparison i was looking for. As a total beginner, i guess i'll chose the neo, even if the image quality seems much better on the mini 4k.
Two completely different drones. Personally, I don't really care for folding drones or folding props, and I fly for fun, not for extreme quality videos and photos. I think the Neo is a much more fun flying experience. You can have it in the air in a minute or less.
I chose the neo for the enclosed propellers. I have bought the fly more combo which includes extra batteries and the controller. It looks on some videos to be quite durable.
I was looking at 249g drones .. ones that come in a case have the 3 access camera stability.. decent battery for hiking and taking videos of myself and my dog.. then I come across the neo .. which actually looks like it might fill all those needs in a smaller package 😂👍🏼🤷🏻♂️
I like this video. Thanks! I would compare the Neo to the Hover drone. I love my Hover drone and it literally does fit in my pocket. The Neo does not fold, so it is bigger to carry around. Can you compare the sound capture of the Neo v. the Hover?
Thanks for the cool advice definitely buying the DJI 4K as an XMAS first drone for my son, great channel definitely inspired me to start mines a few years back……Best goto drone channel.🙌
Honestly the best reason to pick up the neo over any other camre is... It's the first time the common man has ever had access to the ability to never need to be behind the camre... Something seeming every new camre has promised but the DJI neo actually delivers in spades as well... As all you have to do is have the Neo charged and working press a button on it's head and make memories while it captires it for you... That ability is insane and something every family fotagher wises they had access to so they can be in the moment not busy looking into a view finder trying to capture it the best they can... The Neo will do that for you now with the main con being battery life but that still beats a poloroad the first time the common mad tasted this.
DJI NEO is a special product that fits me. No need in controller, cheap - to the point you not afraid to lose it that much, safe - has guards bottom, side and top, has built in programs, built in storage, more than acceptable quality. Took it to a trip with my kids, it is pretty much a personal videographer for those family moments.
I probably should have bought the Mini but I love my Neo, will upgrade one day with a more cinematic drone. First time drone owner, as great as their action cameras…
I purchased both each has its use, FPV and scenic shots, first time doing FPV a little disorientation at first but addictive. I am scared of water tho, lost my Mini 4k pro over a river once already (Care refresh was great)
It appears that the video with the Mini K is considerably darker overall than the Neo. Is this because of a camera setting? Did clouds come in during the shoot?
Have an SE Mini 2 and Im pretty pleased with it..but was certainly missing that follow me feature and other maneuvers. Picking up a NEO with the RCN3 remote
😊Its like the first mini drone HOVER X1 that DJI somewhat copied, very cool indeed. What I like about the HOVER X1 is that you can fold its wing and put it in your pocket, in small bag, or cargo pants pockets, and backpack. But great job DJi.
Now I got more confused lol!! Neo video quality looks move alive than the mini 4K (not in close up) and its cheaper but doesn't have a remote like the 4K.
Something that is ignored by all these reviews and comparisons - I'm looking at NEO primarily for flying indoors and kids having fun with it indoors. The Mini 4 is terrible at indoor flying, it was only designed for outdoor, and you have to change a bunch of settings and go through the hassle of installing separate prop guards to make the Mini 4 work decent indoors. It looks like the NEO would be much, much better for indoor flying (not so much for the camera, but just having fun!) Can anyone confirm this is the case? About to buy a NEO for this purpose since my Mini 4 sucks at indoors.
@@FlytPath I saw that portion, thanks. But what I mean is a more thorough overview of how this improves the indoor flying experience. For example a 10 minute video showing how well or poorly it performs in indoor flying tight spaces. The section you mentioned is just a few seconds. I am surprised that so many of the reviews focus on outdoors and the camera cinematography for the NEO when I think the main huge advantage would be the indoor and fun aspect.

@@qayyumchariff4357 yes I know that part. Even though as a first drone neo has protection and that quick shot button for video quality would mini 4 k be better? Once I get used might be I will upgrade to mini 5 pro next year or 2026 when they launch. There is only 50 dollars more I have to pay for mini 4k. Even that 50 dollars is it worth for mini 4 k?
Very nice video Firstly , in Sweden all drones under 250grams fall under the category that don't need any kind of flight experience or licens to fly, how much does the 4k whei? Also, If I'd want more of the features like follow me etc but better video quality , which one would you recommend? I prefer the small size and low weight. It sounded like the 3 mini is even better than the 4k in video? Do you also have a comparison in an another video?
Let's say I want an affordable drone with follow me feature, but just don't really like the camera quality of the Neo, I mean I can just attach a DJI Action 2 on it and get at least a better camera quality right?
The two selling points for me on the Neo is the ease of use and then the FPV ability. The quality of the image and stability is something that would steer me to the other drones. Ideal world…I could afford both!
I was about to pull the trigger on the mini 4K fly more package at amazon. But I just had a quick thought and wondered if the DJI controller was compatible with the new iPhone 15 & 16s since they have the USB C connector instead of the old apple lightning connector. The answer seems to be NO. Apparently USB C to lightning adapter don't work either.
PLEASEEEE do a comparisson with the Fimi Mini 3. It is the main drone I am considering vs the DJI mini 4K. Similar price point but it shoots at 4K 60FPS and great night mode BUT... I don't know if I trust Fimi over DJI... would love to hear your take on this duel
Had a mini 3 hit some trees and it crashed gimbal first. DJI local service center couldnt fix it and just told me to get a new one. Better to get a sturdier drone because absolutely no after market support at least here where i live
I have the mini 4k, the Avata 2. I am debating on getting the neo because its small and uses the motion controller and goggles 3. Is it worth getting the Neo as small indoor/office flyer to play with the fpv goggles. Or im not missing much and the Avata 2 is fine. I love the avata as an outdoor flyer but inside its just so loud and so powerful its like a mini indoor tornado making things fly everywhere. I would love the mini as an indoor flyer but the first gen does not connect to the goggles.
thank you - I was trying to chose between these - now I want both!!!

Two completely different drones. Personally, I don't really care for folding drones or folding props, and I fly for fun, not for extreme quality videos and photos. I think the Neo is a much more fun flying experience. You can have it in the air in a minute or less.
Great, informative video. The Neo looks like a perfect first drone.
I chose the neo for the enclosed propellers. I have bought the fly more combo which includes extra batteries and the controller. It looks on some videos to be quite durable.
Fantastic comparison!
Thank you for putting this together 😊
Glad you liked it!
How much better is the Mini over the Neo over water when in Helix mode or follow me mode?
Thanks, does each remote compatible to each other?
I've had the Mini 2 since it was released. I love it. But I'm getting the Neo.
For a beginner like me with no experience in operating Drones, I should consider the NEO
Black friday deals on amazon made the 4k mini fly more combo cheaper than the dji neo controller combo. Neo didn't drop in price for some reason
THE HIGH QUALITY FOOTAGE MAKES ME LEAN TOWARDS THE MINI 4K,
I was looking at 249g drones .. ones that come in a case have the 3 access camera stability.. decent battery for hiking and taking videos of myself and my dog.. then I come across the neo .. which actually looks like it might fill all those needs in a smaller package 😂👍🏼🤷🏻♂️
Is the Neo RC captures as smooth and cinematic as the 4K?
Thnks for your awesome vids
Oh now I see your comparisons w 3 gimbal and 1 gimbal, got it!
Which one should I choose if I just need a drone to play or spend time without recording
Go Neo
DJI NEO is a special product that fits me. No need in controller, cheap - to the point you not afraid to lose it that much, safe - has guards bottom, side and top, has built in programs, built in storage, more than acceptable quality. Took it to a trip with my kids, it is pretty much a personal videographer for those family moments.
Still in doubt, first drone for me. But the Black Friday deals will make me choose 😊
I probably should have bought the Mini but I love my Neo, will upgrade one day with a more cinematic drone. First time drone owner, as great as their action cameras…
I want to film indoor at sport events and such, i think the newo is better right?
No obstacle avoidance sensors on the Neo right?
no
Just the frontcamera.
Thanks in conclusion i need both
I have a mini 3 pro for the last 2 years and bought the neo for my son… I am definitely going to be borrowing it from him though
Have an SE Mini 2 and Im pretty pleased with it..but was certainly missing that follow me feature and other maneuvers. Picking up a NEO with the RCN3 remote
Accident avoidance? The neo doesn't have it but seems to do well in following mode. Not about the mini 4k
😊Its like the first mini drone HOVER X1 that DJI somewhat copied, very cool indeed. What I like about the HOVER X1 is that you can fold its wing and put it in your pocket, in small bag, or cargo pants pockets, and backpack. But great job DJi.
Very helpful. I am into photography and think that a drone could help me take a larger variety of shots. Thank you.
@@ddbear8786 apparently you didn’t watch 02:40 of this video
@@FlytPath I saw that portion, thanks. But what I mean is a more thorough overview of how this improves the indoor flying experience. For example a 10 minute video showing how well or poorly it performs in indoor flying tight spaces. The section you mentioned is just a few seconds. I am surprised that so many of the reviews focus on outdoors and the camera cinematography for the NEO when I think the main huge advantage would be the indoor and fun aspect.
For hikers, just get the mini 4K, the NEO would have problem with strong winds if you want to capture peak moments
Thank you. I thought neo follow me would be best for motorcycle. But I did not like video quality. So buying mini 4k might be better.
@@roninr8199 NEO active track could only follow you at a certain speed, for motorcycle you would have to go really slow, if not it would lose track of you
@@qayyumchariff4357 yes I know that part.
@@roninr8199 is there anyway to make the 4k mini follow you?
Can you use the integra googles with the mini 4k?
Considering the Neo as a start.
Very nice video
Firstly , in Sweden all drones under 250grams fall under the category that don't need any kind of flight experience or licens to fly, how much does the 4k whei?
Also, If I'd want more of the features like follow me etc but better video quality , which one would you recommend? I prefer the small size and low weight.
It sounded like the 3 mini is even better than the 4k in video? Do you also have a comparison in an another video?
Let's say I want an affordable drone with follow me feature, but just don't really like the camera quality of the Neo, I mean I can just attach a DJI Action 2 on it and get at least a better camera quality right?
hello should i buy this even with the recent “ban” on dji drones??
bought a neo. perfect for beginners like me and my kids can use it.
The two selling points for me on the Neo is the ease of use and then the FPV ability. The quality of the image and stability is something that would steer me to the other drones.
Ideal world…I could afford both!
I've crashed my Neo so often I've lost count. It's worth it. Solid little guy. Great as a second drone which I fly 5x more than my Air 3S.
I have the Mavic Air 2 for good photography. The Neo can go to cramped spaces whilst the Mavic Air 2, cannot - it is larger.
Thnx for this comparison now i want to buy mini 4k..i am a beginner
PLEASEEEE do a comparisson with the Fimi Mini 3. It is the main drone I am considering vs the DJI mini 4K. Similar price point but it shoots at 4K 60FPS and great night mode BUT... I don't know if I trust Fimi over DJI... would love to hear your take on this duel
I don’t have the fimi to compare
Had a mini 3 hit some trees and it crashed gimbal first. DJI local service center couldnt fix it and just told me to get a new one. Better to get a sturdier drone because absolutely no after market support at least here where i live
I like the Neo and hope they tweak it a little and keep it cheaper
does the NEO require GPS to fly ? can GPS be switched off on NEO if it does ?
Is this the one that you can take the noise out to add music ?
thankyou so much , this is so informative and done so well
Transferring files off Neo is pretty slow as well. In this sense I like having the SD card that I can just pop out and quick transfer to my laptop.
