One reason some folks are not satisfied with the camera on the Neo is that they are basically spoiled by the amazing technology available now and never were forced to learn some basic photography skills such as your mention of not shooting into the sun. I learned photography many generations ago using film when cameras couldn't automatically cope with bad lighting. The photographer had to recognize lighting situations that were going to cause problems. You could compensate somewhat if you were printing your own images in a darkroom, but the general rule was "garbage in / garbage out" Even in todays world of computer correction, highly advanced cameras, etc., You will always get a better finished product if you expose and light as properly as possible when you capture the image. I really think some of today's creators could benefit from checking into some basic photography books from 30 years or more ago. There principles still apply today. By the way, this is a great video for new users of the Neo, one of the best I've come across.
Your video is the BEST I have seen. You are detailed clear and show/ tell more than I have seen anywhere else. I learned whoa a lot. I have my Neo 2/weeks but not flight time because I be forgetting I have it before I leave my house. I am a Fan. I learned how to adjust settings which lets me know I have more control than I even knew.
I like this positive and encouraging videos of dji neo. And for those channels saying Neo is a trash, it's not. They're just caged to their standards of high expectations.
Hi Paul i live in the Netherlands and the wind is 27km/hr , surprisingly it was doing pretty well. Im just afraid bec im with my son, drone following him and he was running and boom! Got tanglwd in my hair 😂
I received mine today. Really surprise how light it is. This is very good solution for my travel. Normally I use Fuji with couple lens and I can’t carry a full system of current drone lineup. Now this model can fit very well with my bag. If you don’t take a serious on drone footage and more serious about camera system. I highly recommend this. If you want a real drone footage just look for another model.
Ok but if you change sharpness or exposure when using the remote are these changes carried over to using the drone without any controller or the phone for quick shots ?
If the video is set to record at 4K30 in the goggles, is the live feed only 30fps? Should I use 1080p60 for FPV? (apologies if this is a stupid question) (great video btw)
Nice context it really help for those who plan to buy, I'm thinking of purchasing soon, I just need to watch more reviews 😊, btw you haven't mention about the internal storage and battery life etc. . Maybe you could make a video as well, many thanks!!🎉🎉🎉😊
Excellent thanks so much for the info and effort you have put into this video , I have had many DJI drones but this is ideal to set up with your advice for my 10 year old grandson to get into the hobby 👍
all new to the world of Drones and ive gone with the neo for capturing ruins we visit. I have the flymore combo, is it possible to also have the options of using the options you get on your phone like circling a object while using the controller? many thanks. Great video
just asking, I think that if you put on 4/3 it disable the rock steady, for me it's not a problem as I stabilize with gyroflow but for those how want have stable video without post pro it's perhaps better to stay in 16/9
thank you SIr! Your settings help a great deal! Neo is my first drone as I want it to be a simple family vacay device to go to. Subscribed and follow! Btw Matt, a quick question - where I come from the Neo doesn't have Remote ID, but I'm thinking of using it in Japan - but it requires Remote ID. How do I go about doing this?
Hello, I am a rock climber and I was stuck with the idea I had to buy a gopro to film my ascents, I already have a Mini 3 but having my belayer holding me plus controlling my drone is kinda crazy work and unsafe so I barely use it while climb, but then I saw NEO actually tracks and follows you around and I need to know some specific stuff about the neo is scenarios like this: - Is it possible to have the NEO 5 to 7 meters away from me by standard or will it be 2 meters away from me like the videos I have seen of people walking? - Can it track my back? I mean, I will be facing the rock and climbing up, not walking foward. - Can it detect the surrounding environment? Other rocks, trees, whatsoever thats big enough for detection to avoid contact and damage? - Can it sustain at 20 meters high with 30km/h winds? - How though is the battery for 15/20 minutes climbs? Thank you!
1) can you adjust sharpness with phone alone? 2) if you use the rc3 controller and change the sharpness...does it stay in effect even if you don't use the controller...as in autonomous or smart app?
Great tips. Thank you. Subbed. One question: Can we use this drone in no-fly zone? I assume it won't when using the RC. But can it fly while stand alone / using phone only?
As always, great video. Lots of great info for all levels of users. Thank you for this! I have one question regarding when you fly the Neo wit the Goggles 3 and the FPV RC 3. Do you still have access to the other AI Flight modes (tracking, etc)?
Great video...Got mine yesterday and think it is fantastic,I hae a mini 3 Pro for main use and probably will only use the Neo without phone and handset.I do think they are quiet noisey but fantastic value. Any chance of a video using it from a boat to record said boat?
Thank you. I think the Neo is ideal as a complementary drone to something like the Mini 3 Pro. I would be very cautious about using the Neo to track yourself on a boat!
Hi I have bought this drone to follow me whilst mountain biking it was OK in a straight line but lost me when it got twisty no trees and good visibility I used the active track button on the drone, what settings and mode would you recommend please, this is my first drone
Depends if you want more stable video or more fun piloting (and better automation), and whether you might buy a better drone (ex., a 4 Pro) in the future.
Great tips in this video, but one question I have is how do you get the drone to land in your palm in direction track (since the drone keeps moving away from you)?
If I decrease the sharpness and noise reduction using the controller once, will these changes stay when I use the drone without the controller or smartphone (voice and palm control)??
Quick question - I currently have it set to use with my goggles and motion controller. Can I pick and choose without having to re-pair with my goggles and controller if I want to use my phone?
Great well done detailed video again your videos are very thought out! Got a quick question these awesome settings that you’re talking about near the end of your video. Do you have to have a controller in order to adjust that on the DJI app? Because that means everybody’s gonna have to buy the controller to do these better settings , ??
For many of the settings, you currently do need the controller, unfortunately. Hopefully, they will add the ability to adjust these in the smartphone-only version of the app.
Are you able to customize the controls for up and down so it will be like a real airplane, pulling back on the stick makes it go up and pushing forward( or what skin refers to as up) makes it go down? I'm a pilot and those movements are ingrained in me and drone controls work the opposite!
Best video about Neo, besides being well explained, the configuration tips for getting better images are very good. Unlike content creators in Brazil, where they only make click bait by flying the drone at night and doing everything the manual says not to do.
Great video! One question, if I set the sharpness when using the remote, will it keep these settings for when I use it either with the phone or just the drone? If not, is this something that can be fixed via a future update from DJI?
It's so funny to hear about people saying how bad the camera is for video. There are so many post-editing tools with AI out there that can make any video look awesome, including increasing the resolution and improving any color clipping or automatically add proper colour grading. I've no trouble with the Neo video at all. But then again, I started to shoot commercial video when the resolution was 240x480 (NTSC) and the encoded colour was YIQ 😊
love the content i pick this up friday and still need to get a controller but not sure what to get.i wish my mini 2 controller was compatible.i know it works on it's own or with the iphone but i know i'll get tired of that.
Another brilliant video. One question .. when you change the aspect ratio to 4.3 and after you crop the footage to 16.9 does the quality get affected ??
The quality between shooting in 16:9 and cropping to 16:9 will be the same because the drone is automatically cropping the footage anyway. The reason for cropping it yourself is so that you can control what gets cropped instead of the drone deciding for you. You can also just leave the video uncropped, if that is what you prefer. It's just a matter of taste. Some people feel that 16:9 looks more cinematic.
@@JesusChrist-xb7jq - It will only be affected by the recompression, when you export the final video. But that would have happened anyway if you made any adjustments to the image.
@TheDroneCreative do you know how? As when I plug 2 phones in they light up charging for about a second then stop thought it might be my phone but 2? Many thanks in advance
Is this the same app on my phone as I use with my mini 2? What if I fly from my cell phone and not my mini 2 controller? Is it a different app for that?
I was so bummed when I ordered my Neo and then realized it wasn't going to ship until October 7th. Oh well, I'll still be having fun with my Air 3 until it arrives. Great video!
Can someone please confirm: when using the rc-n3 controller there is cruise control available as a programmable function to the "fn"-button ? Thank you ...
Top man Matthew as always! Waiting for mine and and will comeback to this vid as soon as I get it, why because always follow your settings on all drones cameras etc. Cheers mate!👌👌

Hi ! Real question that I have difficulty understanding since I have the Neo, they indicate 18 minutes of maximum autonomy but why even with a 100% charged battery, the screen never indicates more than 8 minutes of autonomy remaining?
The settings on Follow is good "Only" if you are in a wide area, but if you forgot to set it back and fly on an area with close obstacles or wall then your drone might be in trouble bumping it, the reason why they only set it on Medium..

I love your video; it is straight to the point, easy to understand, and has clear instructions! You are the reason I'm into drone hobby now!
Wow, that’s so awesome to hear! Thank you - I really appreciate your kind words!
Is the camera setting with the remote controller (e.g. sharpness) applies to the auto fly modes? Thanks
great question, I'm wondering this as well. With the over sharpening the auto fly videos are unusable.
Excellent thanks so much for the info and effort you have put into this video , I have had many DJI drones but this is ideal to set up with your advice for my 10 year old grandson to get into the hobby 👍

Btw Matt, a quick question - where I come from the Neo doesn't have Remote ID, but I'm thinking of using it in Japan - but it requires Remote ID. How do I go about doing this?
Does the sharpness adjustment "stick" when flying without the controller?
Does it retain the exposure/image settings when using the controller? for when you switch back to autonomous (no controller) mode?
Great question. Let me do some testing and get back to you!
Hope it does and it doesn’t go back to the default settings 🤞
Do you get the "Style" setting to adjust sharpness and noise when just using the mobile app?
Unfortunately not at the moment no, hopefully they add that ability!

I have a question.
Can you use the googles n3 with the n3 rc controller or just the fpv controller?
Is there any way to change the sharpness? For some reason I cannot find the styles menu to change it. Thank you
Unfortunately, you can only adjust the sharpness when using the controller. You’ll find it in the settings menu!
Thank you for this there are many valuable tips to improve the quality of my videos.
i have mini 3 with the inbuilt screen controller,is it compatible?
No, I hate this.
Thoughts on disabling Rocksteady and processing with Gyroflow instead? I've seen many people suggest this.
Great tips. Thank you. Subbed. One question: Can we use this drone in no-fly zone? I assume it won't when using the RC. But can it fly while stand alone / using phone only?
Great info! Looking forward to putting it to use when the Neo finally arrives to the US.
Hopefully it gets shipped soon! Thanks for watching!

I have one question regarding when you fly the Neo wit the Goggles 3 and the FPV RC 3. Do you still have access to the other AI Flight modes (tracking, etc)?
Thank you. No, with the Goggles 3 you only have access to video and photos mode. No tracking or quickshots.
Can you use the fpv googles with the stock controller that comes with the flymore combo? Or the googles should be paired with the fpv controller?

Depends if you want more stable video or more fun piloting (and better automation), and whether you might buy a better drone (ex., a 4 Pro) in the future.
if you set sharpness on the remote and later you fly neo by it self (no controller) does the sharpness stay -2 or resets?
Can adjust EV compensation in the mobile app too?
Unfortunately not at the moment - hopefully they add that ability!
Does the Neo have a mode like the Avata 2 where you can turn off EIS and keep gyro information so you can stabilize in Gyroflow?
Great tips in this video, but one question I have is how do you get the drone to land in your palm in direction track (since the drone keeps moving away from you)?
Fantastic question. For DirectionTrack you stand still for 3 seconds with your palm out, and it will automatically fly back to you above your palm!
Great video, thanks for taking the time to make this! Best video I have seen on the NEO!

For many of the settings, you currently do need the controller, unfortunately. Hopefully, they will add the ability to adjust these in the smartphone-only version of the app.
I'm assuming the RTH only works for the remote. I don't recall a RTH virtual button for the manual control on DJI FLY app
Are you able to customize the controls for up and down so it will be like a real airplane, pulling back on the stick makes it go up and pushing forward( or what skin refers to as up) makes it go down? I'm a pilot and those movements are ingrained in me and drone controls work the opposite!
If you want it to feel like a plane, you might want to try the RC Motion 3 controller (but it does require goggles, either model 3 or N3).

Can this drone, or any others, be set to “follow” you, but from either your left side (9 o’clock) or right side (3 o’clock) ? Thank you …..
Yes, there’s a mode called "DirectionTrack." When you use it, the drone will stay in the direction you launched it from and follow you as you move.
