I flew nothing but DJI for 4 years then I decided to try Autel a couple of years ago. Ended up selling all my DJI stuff. Love my EVO and EVO II.

Why did you make the change from DJI to Autel? What drone did you have with DJI and what one did you get with Autel?

I have an Air 2 and I feel it's still a good option especially as a first drone. Possibly still the best bang for the buck for what you are getting.

Totally agree on starting with a cheaper drone. I started with the original Mavic Mini, and despite the small sensor, I got some amazing footage. Then moved to the Airt 2s and love it, especially it's ability to handle winds (very important in the UK)

The EVO Nano does not sacrifice night photography and has outstanding video and photos, some it’s early shortcomings have been corrected with updates.

My first drone was a free Phantom 3 4K, I flew that for 4 months and bought a Mini 1, flew that until the Air2S came out and bought that. I love it, it's perfect for my business and recreational. First drone I'd recommend would be the Mini 2.

Love the smaller more portable drones, I recently sold my Phantom 4 Pro cause I hardly flew it. Was just so bulky and impractical. The Mini 2 is where it’s at.

Yup exactly. Sometimes u just need to go smaller to fly more.

A ton of information in only 13 minutes, and even being in the south, I was able to keep up with your speed... I studied features before I bought my first drone, and didn't want to spend 500, then have to spend a thousand to upgrade in a few months so I started with the Air 2, then moved to the Mavic 3 mostly for the camera settings and obstacle avoidance which an old guy with lousy depth perception needs.
I am still learning to edit and improve all my skills, but the M3 is a forgiving platform if you don't get stupid. Once you stop learning, you start to fade away...

another great video! What's the best drone to upgrade to if I already own the Air 2 for mostly recreational and little commercial work?

Air 2 is an awesome drone. I decided on the Evo 2 pro. Like you i do a little side work, selling prints and some real estate on occasion.
I did have an air 2 and sold it. I think you keep the air 2 for now, get a air 2 s. Sell the air 2 with one battery.

IN my opinion if a noob uses a mavic 3 or an air 2s vs a pro using a mini 2, the pro with the mini 2 will create better shots, as long as the drone has a 12mp camera with a 3 axis gimbal the pilot with skills will have better shots

Hey Aldryn. You should include the MA2 more often when comparing. It’s still an amazing price for the combo at $988. Since it has the Quad Bayer sensor it really takes amazing photos and even videos with the 120 bitrate. I understand about a larger sensor but since the mass majority of pilots are shooting during daytime I’ve never needed a larger sensor. I still need to use an ND filter set to ND32 with my MA2 and ISO set at 100. It lets in a good amount of light and especially color. Great info as always though. 🤙🏼

The Mini 2 and Autel Nano are small and a little quieter so you draw a little less attention. You could use something like Dronelink on the Mini for "automated" flight routes, but I don't like flying from its interface instead of DJI Fly. I've crashed the Mavic Air 2 a couple of times so having front & rear sensors on those models is overrated, and I'm guessing Nano is the same. I find the best video that I shoot has some sideways flight, more than just forward & backward. The Mini is a good drone for everyone to have, regardless of experience. I would like DJI to focus on offering the highest quality & best features, but on its smallest drones. The Nano is the same size as Mini but has a 1/1.28 inch sensor, front & rear sensors, and intelligent flight, but at double the cost. I'd like Mini & Nano to be much smaller than 250g so nobody knows there's a drone nearby.

Your video productions are fantastic and I would really like to see a video comparison between the M2, MA2, A2S, M2P and M3. I know you’ve done comparisons before but their always set to auto exposure and some look noticeably better with auto settings and some don’t at all. It would be a better comparison to use 4K and set each drone up manually to get the best video. Shutter, FPS, ISO, White balance, ND filter etc…. Just a suggestion but it would be nice to see a true comparison of each drone with a properly set up camera. Thanks Aldryn……. Enjoy.

Aldryn, thank you for this in-depth review of the suitable drone in 2022. I am looking forward to your full in-depth review of the Autel Litte+. I know you've made your original video on this drone, but I am looking forward to your review of it after flying it for a while and including the firmware update patches. Thank You!

Been flying DJI drones and it seems like other brands are trying to catch up to their size, functionality and style. Its almost like they are the Apple of the drone industry. The only thing I don't like is the cost of accessories. Paying an extra 150 dollars for an FPV battery is a lot.

Aldryn - I watch a lot of your videos because I know you are experienced and very knowledgeable on drones. Please don't take my comments here as being negative, but I felt you crammed way too much information into a 13 min. video for someone just entering into the world of drones and trying to decide what to buy in early 2022. I'll give you credit for covering important features/benefits of the various drones, but for me, you could have done a better "overview" presentation using Powerpoint slides (or something similar) along with some narration, then maybe sprinkling your presentation with a few quick pictures or video clips of the drones. I know this clip is more your style in conveying information on drone reviews/features, but I didn't think it worked today as an informational video for new beginners in the world of drones. Just my two cents...
(I know, it's easy for me to type comments...but not so easy to create a presentation video on the subject matter. Please take my comments with a grain of salt.)

"Which Drone if right for you ..." do people realize everyone is doing this same topic to death? Billy Kyle, every single channel day in day out. It creates this consumer culture as opposed to an art culture. And then we get the tired statements "if you are starting out...." or "if you are a pro..." come on now. There is nothing new or relevant about this content!

The mini 2 is rubbish it’s a plastic toy ,I don’t like mine to much jello and to small for line of sight ,I have the phantom 4 as well very stable big but rest footage ,if I was buying a new drone I’d buy the phantom 4 pro V2 stunning footage and not to dear ,the mavics are over priced
