I wish you were my mechanic! So much attention to detail! You’re awesome! True professional 👍🏼
Thats y he is spreading knowledge across. Be your own .
Literally sitting here trying to get that caliper back on and this video just saved my life
Glad to be able to help!!
I really wish I would have watched this video also.... Why would KIA do this lol
This is one of the best tutorial videos I've seen .
Bro you make this look easy !! Thank you great video 🙏🏼
NEVER let the caliper hang by the hose. This causes the inner lining of the hose to tear and then acts as a check valve. When you let off the brakes, the fluid cannot flow back to the reservoir thus not allowing pads to release. End result is the pads wearing out VERY fast and typically ruining the rotor also. Just a tip for ya!
Amen!
Great video! Loved the music and was fun to watch!
Loved this video, nice clear, clean, and informative
Awesome video, just did my first ones ever, you made it smooth bro!
Top notch instructions, thank you.
Thank you so so much I didn't know that I could use Pires to change my rear brakes in my 2014 Kia until I saw your video.. you help me so much thanks bro. I didn't have time to find that special cube tool to push in the piston
do not use needle nose pliers use the correct made tool for it they do not cost too much and you can rent it from auto zone free of charge look into it
Good video with nice audio. well edited. I would specify "rear brakes" and year range the repair covers. I would also tag the best parking brake trouble shooter you like if you don't make one yourself.
Thanks for the video. Thread locker and torquing is very important! Mechanic did my brakes and one caliper bolt came off!
That bs happen to me to all that money and they did a bum job
thanks mate .. great effort highly aporeciated.. cheers !!
Great video. Lots of good details
Thanks for the video and showing the proper way to do it from start to finish! You da man. Lol
Great video!
Great Job man
Much appreciated refresher
Thank u so much
Newly divorced and I'm left to tend to all these types of projects on my own now. Don't really want to pay an arm and a leg on normal wear and tear issues when I can do it myself.
thanks for this.
Thanks man 👍
Great video, I have 2 questions, did you put those wire clips back on the pads to help them open when you release the brake and I could no see the little clip you mentioned when you used the pliers to rotate the piston back in? Thanks
awesome!
Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
I have a kia forte 2018 i removed the top bolt on brake calliper front but the botton on is difrent size...do you know the size of that bolt??
I own a Kia so this is super cool to see how this is done! I’ll be showing our son how to do this.
That’s a great idea. It seems hard but can be done at home!
The best Christmas present I ever got was a 200 piece craftsman automotive tool set, I've made tens of thousands of dollars with it and helped hundreds of people. Your son won't be disapointed
Shut up
The one thing I would suggest if you live some place where salt is used during winter is to put some of the anti-seize on the contact points where the brake pads touch the bracket hardware. I usually take mine apart to clean and lubricate about every 10k miles.
To add to this.....if you service the brakes when you put ur winter tires on and off (Oct and Apr) this will add to the preventative maintenance and prolong the life of ur braking system
Did you work in a dealer shop and move to mobile? What was your first mechanic job? Thanks for the videos.
Why did you not put the wire clips back in?
Im planning on changing the rear brake pads on my kia forte 2018 ¿¿when desasambling the brakes do I need to have the parking break ON?? Please reply...thnks good video
Yep, needle nose pliers or c clamp works.
Hi! How do you adjust the hand brake cable on this car? I have one wheel good and the other one loose. Thanks
Hello, I just changed the rear brake pads with the help of your video, now my handbrake does not apply, do you know how I can solve it, thank you
you should grease the (ears ) the tabs on the brake pads
thanks for great video.......made job easy and fast maybe 20 minutes........................................................
You're welcome!
what's the length of one of those brake pad?
That fucking bottom bolt was a pain to get off but thanks for this video you saved me some money
Never would have thought to take the brakes off and load the pads on before I screw it back on
I noticed that you didn't replace the 2 wire clips are they not needed
Do you need to bleed brakes after doing this or just pumping the brakes should be fine? Great video thanks
You do not need to bleed the brakes after a long as you never open the bleeder screw just pump the pedal until firm again and you are good to go
should you take the brake fluid cap off when pressing the caliper?
I also did my brakes, but did not line up the notch with the clip on the brake pad.... the pads lasted a month, and i think i JUST figured out why... lol could that happen?
You can take the cap off but I have done it both wastes and it doesn’t make a difference to me.
And if that notch isn’t lined up it could cause some excessive wear
Thanks for the upload, it is very helpful. Do I need to put anti squeak on the brake pads before I put them on? Thanks
You definitely can! It won’t hurt!
There is a problem with changing Kia rear brake pads, as even the original instruments do not fit. The original has dimensions of 4,5,6, etc., but Kia has this difference of 4,5.......You have to buy this screw separately, although it is not expensive, I think it was 8 dollars at Walmart
Great step by step!! Thanks!!! Do you need to adjust a parking break after?
Nope they should be just fine!
How do you adjust the parking breeak at the caliper in that exact car place?
You just saved me $300.
Do you need to do anything to adjust the parking brake? Is loctite required or just an added precaution?
The parking brake is self adjusted and the loctite insert required but is just a precaution as brakes experience a lot of vibrations.
If you live somewhere with rust don't bother with loctite
@@wigletron2846 Rust. Nature’s loctite.
@@Sandman1984 I've never used loctite on a brake job. Loctite combined with the rust would just make it impossible.
Dumb question: when would you use a wrench instead of a racket wrench?
dont let the caliper hang but a set of hooks there cheap if your going to be a mobile tech you need the right tools for the job
Do you have to replace the clips that hold the brake pads or can you use the old ones
Sometimes the new clips don’t fit quite right and if that’s the case I leave the old ones in just be sure to clean them off
@@daringmotors ah okay do they eventually wear off🤔
What is the name of the tool that goes on the ratchet?
A socket lol
What is the best way to break in snow. Manual says there is some noise in breaking to be expected. Please explain fully. Thank you very much!
Do you have to replace the rotors ? Or can you jus replace the brake pads only ?
I always recommend replacing the rotors as if not they can warp easily if they get too thin
It depends on the thickness of the rotor in question. The KIA rotor will have a minimum spec in order to resurface or if replace.
What do you do if when step on the brakes and their still squeaking ?
I would check to see if your brake pads are low and if they are replace them. The other thing is the tabs that hold the pads in place can sometimes hit the rotors and cause a squeak
@@daringmotorsI had just put new brakes haven’t changed the rotors can that be an issue too if the rotors are worn out ?
Yes that is a possibility if there is a groove in the rotors or they are warped
So no need to bleed brakes? Do you have to take off brake fluid cap in the beginning
I'm wondering the same thing
@ckc1468 good thing this dude never answers back. We might be in bind waiting for our answer 🤔
You do not need to bleed the brakes after a long as you never open the bleeder screw just pump the pedal until firm again and you are good to go
Do I have to replace the rotors?
It is not required but I do highly recommend
Yet again in your videos you forgot to put back the anti-rattle clips you took out @2:11 .
Thread locker is not needed. The peice that is on the bolt, washer, is there for that very reason.
You did forget the 2 wire clips to hold the pads on the outside. Just saying............
I wouldn't have let the caliper hang like that with all the weight pulling on the hose, use a bungee cord or wire tie or something to support it, other than that good video.
How about using that empty box that the new rotors came in to put under spindle to catch rust and brake clean instead of spotting up the drive? And the anti rattle springs? You didn't reinstall
Bleed the brakes after keeps clean fluid.
Why not use a C Clamp
On these rear pads you have to screw the caliper in as it is part of the parking brake system if you just try to squeeze with a c-clamp you will end up damaging the caliper and have to replace it
1:10
That hidden bolt
2 set screws? Eff you Kia.
The music is so random
