I'm brilliant at fighting games. One of the best, in fact. My secret is to surrender any pretence of actually knowing how to play them, which leaves me free to focus my entire energy on button-mashing. It's a powerful technique.
Ok think about this guys, Fight Night Champion came out in March 2011. That is 3 years ago. We are in need of another Next Gen Boxing Game for the PS4 desperately. In my opinion this was one of the best boxing sims out there. It had a decent story line as well, a bit short but that's not what the game was made for. If you look at EA UFC, one of the main selling points that they point out is how when you hit the body you can see ripples go up!! Ummm ok... its in this game here on the PS3 made 3 years ago as well. Just think what they can do if they made another Fight Night Champion for the PS4, how realistic could it get potentially? I am sure that there would be no more sharing of boxers on the EA servers like they do now, because of the potential lawsuits. That's why we do not see the EA UFC have a fighter share location so others can download Justin Beiber and have him fight in the Bantamweight section ;) So how about it EA or how about you 2k? Anyone listening to what the gamers want?
I'm glad EA didn't release a new one of these games every year. Let them take their time with a new one. Just do it right. I'm only just now getting my hands on champion. It was on sale, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Never played a previous game in the series. Last time I touched a boxing ea game was Knockout Kings 2000. That was 16 years ago.
@BumBumBoB1... I have not had any problems with lag or disconnection. Did they have connection issues during the week that the game was released? (Most games have server issues within the first week or month until a patch is downloadable). I can connect with my friends and fight random matches with ease. (Im on PS3)
@Zer0tobackdown yeah their slow when the boxers stamina goes all the way down, you basically have to move around the ring until your stamina comes up to throw quick punches again.
In my opinion, this is the best boxing game to date. The graphics are smooth, colorful, polished and very detailed. The boxers look exactly like their real-life counterparts. This is a very beautiful looking game. The gameplay is very good. I have examined the hit detection of the punches and knockdowns. It is dead on accurate! The online mode is buffed with a lot of muscles.... it has oodles of options to create your face specific fighter any way you like! (must buy game)
I have been through this career and championship mode of the game and have played online, and have yet been able to cut an opponent of make him bleed. Am I doing something wrong.
@BumBumBoB1 Im not a huge boxing fan, but the gameplay is simple, yet addictive. This is best sports game that I have played in years. When I play video games, I look for great graphics, great gameplay, features, then replay value. EXAMPLE: Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted 2, Assassin Creed, Dead Space, MW2 and Fight Night Champion are great games!!!! (MW2, some online gamers abused the killstreaks and fun gameplay)
@BumBumBoB1... I had the same thoughts, but every boxer in this game has his own fighting style. Ali does not punch, counter or dodge like Tyson. You can even download/ upload 100's of created boxers from the online Boxer Share options. I downloaded Mayweather yesterday.... Wow! This game has a high replay value and does not get stale. Note: you will rarely see the same knockdown animations because the punching styles are so diverse.
the fighter at 2:00 has reebok shorts with bwfc on the waistband i wonder if that means bolton wanderers football club who play at the reebok stadium lol
Never had chance to play Round 4 but i am really enjoying this one! The only thing that annoyed me was that i didn't know you can't use your finished Legacy boxer for online play, Well you can but you have to start over statwise with an ovr 71 Which makes the Legacy mode a rather pointless grind : ( I see why alot of people buy the xp packs and the boosts online now..
What this game needs is some alternate storylines. Instead of following one story, imagine you could control two/three fighters, and at some point they have to fight each other and you have to chose wich one you'll control, maybe place a bet against you and lose on purpose with it's subsequent story repercutions. Maybe you can't pay a bookie and you have to fight he's goons when they come to collect the money. Some kind of HEAVY RAIN+BOXING
@BumBumBoB1 See, I had the same pre-judgment about this boxing game. The punching styles are so varied that you actually become one with the fighter. This is not a button mashing game like Mortal Combat, Soul Caliber, or ESPN Winter Olympics. EA did and excellent job developing this game. I thought that a boxing game would get boring and very repetetive. This is not the case!
@andyB136 no. you are not. i have Round 4 and personally like the punching waaaay better in it than champion. this is more ... how can u call it.? unrealistic ? i dont know. its just my opinion. im with you.
@TheMook96 ive played the game now, it pretty good and i havent seen a single headbut (but its fine theyre there if you want to be that dirty kind of boxer) being down on the dpad i sometimes slip and accidentely hit them bellow the belt which is kindo of realitic i suppose.
Crazyoldman84 Fight night 4 was the best one. They ruined this one because dummies couldn’t use the incredibly accurate and responsive controls of Round 4 so they dumbed them down and made the game too fast and unrealistic
3 to me was the best its wasn't that realistic but like the guy said it was fun thats what u want from your game the fun factor that alone is worth my money a fun game
@BumBumBoB1 Yes, buy this game. It has given me a break from B.O. The last boxing game that I purchased was in 2004. I have been engaged by DEAD SPACE1, 2, RED DEAD REDEMPTION and UNCHARTED 2. Fight Night Champion falls into the category of greatness. The Gameplay is very addictive with with an easy learning curve. Buy this game!
I have wanted this game for the longest time but have not been able to find it ANYWHERE for the past 2 years or so. I'd order it online but with my history of getting bunk games from online providers, I guess I grew untrustworthy of the service.
the training part kills this game, excellent fighting though. I've tried and tried to get the hang of the training but was unable to get the hang of it
i really want this game!! but i'm mor off a m.m.a fan then a boxing fan tbh, but in my opinoin fight night games are all lot better made and re just a lot better then 'ea sports mma' and 'ufc 2009/10
Good game but nothing like Boxing at all. Theres boxers that play like boxing but theres spammers that play like robots. Steppercuts??..since when in boxing do you lead with a right step/right upper lol. When in boxing do you constantly step back and throw the right hand only??..no jab just step back right lol. Im up there in the rankings but only few are boxers who box beautifully, all the others are robotic spammers.
Since the update this game feels almost broken. Punches that should connect come up short, literally. Alot of blocked shots get through somehow. Hate that you have to pay for fighters that are already on disc. Maxing out you're XP feels cheap as you can one punch KO anybody! Analog or button punching feels laggy, sometimes even throwing punches you never threw on its own. The game is good, I enjoy it but it still needs work.
@Glockadeth no get this game i to havent been into fight nights boxing game but this is fucking awsome :) its good story good game play i hope they make a sequal to it its awsome so you should buy it
@bloodguyRD: Not picking on him at all, not once have I insulted his person just his comments. Furthermore, why are you bothering to respond to my comment, is my alleged "picking" on him your problem?
The stamina system and healing needs to go back to the old ways b/c the auto system sucks. Also, stop it with disc locked boxers like young George Foreman.
i feel stupid.. wasnt really paying much attention cuz the ad was playing before the video started.. then for like the 1st 20 seconds of the actual video, i thought it was still a ad smh. FML.
Five to six hour story mode which is cliche and predictable? Exotic control scheme? Minor upgrade from last years game? Some online lag? These are all "reasons" Xplay or IGN would use to totally rail on a game.
I'm actually buying fight night champion because of the amazing story mode. I like the game itself but the story mode is what made me want to get it.
I'm brilliant at fighting games. One of the best, in fact.
My secret is to surrender any pretence of actually knowing how to play them, which leaves me free to focus my entire energy on button-mashing.

we should ask 2k instead tbh..
@@walterp.526 let them Take their time say that again now
im just wondering but can you get the recorded fights or full replays of what happened kinda like COD where you can get a replay of a match??
@BumBumBoB1... I have not had any problems with lag or disconnection. Did they have connection issues during the week that the game was released? (Most games have server issues within the first week or month until a patch is downloadable). I can connect with my friends and fight random matches with ease. (Im on PS3)

This guy is easily the best reviewer on Gamespot.
Good work man.
How do you turn on slow mo replays for the 360? I can't find out how
I have been through this career and championship mode of the game and have played online, and have yet been able to cut an opponent of make him bleed. Am I doing something wrong.
Their is no move mode on Fight night Champion?
I have already the Playstation move but thanks for the review
@andyB136 i like round 4's puching better too it feels like the fighters throw there punchs more wildly in champions
@BumBumBoB1 Im not a huge boxing fan, but the gameplay is simple, yet addictive. This is best sports game that I have played in years. EXAMPLE: Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted 2, Assassin Creed, Dead Space, MW2 and Fight Night Champion are great games!!!! (MW2, some online gamers abused the killstreaks and fun gameplay)
what happens when u beat all the levels of the career mode? do you have to retire or can you keep fighting
@BumBumBoB1... I had the same thoughts, but every boxer in this game has his own fighting style. Ali does not punch, counter or dodge like Tyson. Note: you will rarely see the same knockdown animations because the punching styles are so diverse.
is it just like MMA from ea cause i realy liked that game and maybe will be getting it if its just as good as MMA
is there a mode where you can fight as mike tyson and ali etc in a story type thing????
the fighter at 2:00 has reebok shorts with bwfc on the waistband i wonder if that means bolton wanderers football club who play at the reebok stadium lol
Does this game have the first person view?
what does co za asy mean?
I almost fell a sleep, don't know if the video was boring or if it's because it's 05:38
Never had chance to play Round 4 but i am really enjoying this one!

for the story mode i only threw uppercuts and hooks. same technique works good for any other mode too lol
What this game needs is some alternate storylines.

Some kind of HEAVY RAIN+BOXING
@evilfangs no genius, there are 28 days in feb. Its out now!!
why wasn't the story mode done with a created character? I dont want to play as a predetermined character
@FoxBallin Yes you can
@BumBumBoB1 See, I had the same pre-judgment about this boxing game. The punching styles are so varied that you actually become one with the fighter. @Rejniz So you came to watch the review, just to let everyone know, oh yes, makes sense.
@andyB136 no. you are not. i have Round 4 and personally like the punching waaaay better in it than champion. this is more ... how can u call it.? unrealistic ? i dont know. its just my opinion. im with you.
@andyB136 Round 4's punching was excellent i thought
@TheMook96 ive played the game now, it pretty good and i havent seen a single headbut (but its fine theyre there if you want to be that dirty kind of boxer) being down on the dpad i sometimes slip and accidentely hit them bellow the belt which is kindo of realitic i suppose.
Man These Graphics are out of this world
Can damage be turned off, I haven't noticed any apart from champion mode.
I just got this game on xbox.
Fight night 4 was terrible felt so unresponsive to me? I know 3 wasn't the most realistic but it was more fun in my opinion?
Crazyoldman84

the story was awesome! took me 6 hours to beat it on champion mode.
What an eloquently spoken host.
I have wanted this game for the longest time but have not been able to find it ANYWHERE for the past 2 years or so. I'd order it online but with my history of getting bunk games from online providers, I guess I grew untrustworthy of the service.
I actually did end up finding it at a local small time game store for 20$. Worth every penny, absolutely fantastic.
They need to go all out in Legacy Mode next game, start from the ground up because it's terrible in R4 and basically the same in Champion
Saw the infamous 2 review?
Yesterday I lost to Chavez Jr in a war. Swolen eyes, blood, and multiple knockdowns.
I'm undefeated in boxing games.. I got a mayweather movement that's a big plus
Is this game worth getting?
story mode is cool. legacy is cool. onlines fun and hittin your friends is brilliant. good game tbh.
Is this game worth 5$ on: xbox on demand?
its only one of the best boxing game there is. If its truly $5 its money well spent. I play it at least 3 times a week and its been 3 years now.
I bought it! :) I've been playing champion mode and been having lots of fun if you have it in xbox add me XwillyX1269X
Great review.
cant wait 2 get this game. gettin it 4 my bday on saturday!
@TheDoeBoy203 yup
Buying this tomorrow for £6 in 2023 Xbox 360 is still champion,👍
Me too! :) Great price!
@matty199152 No, argument won. It happens but so rarely that to put it in the game is nonsense, baseball proves that
this review is much more informative and reliable than IGN's. just saying
Can anyone think of the fighting game where the trailers said it had the grittiness of GTA and it has kick boxing and others.
the training part kills this game, excellent fighting though. I've tried and tried to get the hang of the training but was unable to get the hang of it
the old guy coming at @ 0:30 kinda looks like Karl Schäfer in uncharted 2...
Can someone gameshare me this fight night champion please. i really want to play this
That was 2 years ago i already bought the game lmao thanks tho
Holy crap, the Game models flex they're muscle
i really want this game!! but i'm mor off a m.m.a fan then a boxing fan tbh, but in my opinoin fight night games are all lot better made and re just a lot better then 'ea sports mma' and 'ufc 2009/10
@targetassassin45 Gametrailers reviews are also good, you should check them out.
@HelloYoutoobers um no its not. 4:55
fight night round 3 was the shiit
It looks great!
@Vccine It's not, that's ps3
am i the only one who like round 4's punching?
better than Champions in fact
is this game better then ufc undisputed 3
Pretty good game, but the last fight with Frost is probably the hardest part of a video game i have ever played
@danty362 I was just thinking that...IGN's review of this game was very poor.
@ MIZIKE69
Owned.
@feliesa91 Why?
@HelloRUclipsrs game rates than 3 percent higher than ps3 on xbox 360, according to gamerankings
this game is GREAT!! 10 out of 10 guys. GET IT!!
@xMikenugex Mine too! We have so much in common!
this was a v good review imo
Mma boxing two different sports so you can't compare the two I'll say this there the best games for their sport
a lvl-up system? that has been anough for me to buy a game before...

lol the dude at the beginning looks like Prince Fielder
@Glockadeth no get this game i to havent been into fight nights boxing game but this is fucking awsome :) its good story good game play i hope they make a sequal to it its awsome so you should buy it
@bloodguyRD: Not picking on him at all, not once have I insulted his person just his comments.
Furthermore, why are you bothering to respond to my comment, is my alleged "picking" on him your problem?
@xMikenugex I here that
@TheMook96 watch Mike Tyson vs evander Holyfield. A legendary rivalry, and Holyfield head butted all the time
@chameleonman100 i like wrestling but i also like the real stuff. naruto? i dont know about that. but this game is amust have.
FML.
much better
As long as you avoid online
or you'll run into looney tune characters 😭
this is the first game iv ever played online... i really hate loosing to people online to the point i feel like smashing my house up
This is the shortest game ever mad the makers should be ashamed
If this is only 5 bucks i will pick this up now
holy crap. I didn't think xbox was capable of that kind of graphics
@xMikenugex
My water was out a few hours ago...
@andyB136 same i liked 4 better than this, but oh well :)
@ndaz120 im an mma fighter and i love this game fighting is fighting man if u like mma u will like this game
Yea this still aint better than round 3... so far that was the best one by far.
having an opinion i did nothing wrong.
Five to six hour story mode which is cliche and predictable? Exotic control scheme? Minor upgrade from last years game? Some online lag?
These are all "reasons" Xplay or IGN would use to totally rail on a game.
lol i still play this...well atleast till ufc 3 comes out
