Wasn't sure if I was going to buy this game on the xbox backward compatibility sale or not, but after seeing this review it's a must buy .. looks very good
This game is absolutely awesome! Unfortunately, the games poor sales may cause EA to pull the the plug on any future sequels. Which really sucks because the ending set it up for a sequel. Hopefully they'll go ahead and produce a sequel. I'd hate to see a great franchise go the way of Shenmue. But mark my words. This game will be a cult classic.

One of my favorites this year hands down. It may not be as polished as Dead Space or Resident Evil, but I'll be damned if I didn't have more fun playing this than both of those great games combined.
@MrShotgun175 I've played a lot, Bulletstorm, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Crisis 2, Portal 2, Dragon Age 2, Brink etc. I enjoyed them all but they were all to be expected/predictable.
Shadow's of the Damned is fresh (and completely bananas!). I mean it's by the guys who made Killer 7, Devil May Cry, No More Heroes and Resident Evil. That was reason enough for me to pick it up and it payed off.

Unfortunately, spoilers... Well, still much better than the current GameSpot fiasco...
This game if great, really is, but i feel like some of the humor is forced, but it still holds a special place in my heart. With a ghost n goblin type objective and map load screen, and a resident evil 4 type gameplay, it holds a lot of potential, and a delivers a lot.
Just bought this game for $5 and it is an outstanding gem of a game.

@Smarty4789 usually in PS3 games, they are mapped to L1/R1 because they are much easier to press

This game was so unique and fun! It had awesome enemies and some of the funniest dialogue ever. I wish this game did better, it really deserves more attention.
japanese developer goes for creativity and content, western developer goes for graphic and multiplayer.
I was afraid this game would be more style over substance & clearly it looks like it has its issues, just from some of the videos alone, but at the same time, it's one of those games that you're just intrigued to play.
I get what you are saying but with my system specs the emulators works fine with very light fps drops.

If not something else, this games does remind us that games should be fun, artfull, unrealistic (except sports), daring and deffinitelly single player minded.. But if you don't care about those things, what's important is that the game is good. If you buy games for the multiplayer rent it.. If not deffinitelly buy it
I think shadows of the damned 2 is coming out next year. I mean that's what I heard but I cannot wait til part 2 comes out. shadows of the damned is 1 of my few top games. because of this game now I like shotng games.
but if you don't like the story/characters then why would you invest yourself in the game just for the gameplay?
@THERAVENAK47 The game is really fun and you'll enjoy it all the way through. However, I recommend that you rent it because sadly it's only 8 hrs long with no new+ game mode and extra content. If they make another Shadows of The Damned these are my recommendations: 25 hrs gameplay, extra content like survival mode or side missions, new+ game mode with item+weapon carry over+costumes, more world open exploration, way more guns with optional upgrades, and much more tougher enemies.
Do sports games, or puzzle games have stories? Ninja gaiden series is a prime example of a game you enjoy, solely on gameplay.

Thats basically what I said, I never said gamespot was immune at all, I was rather saying that it was, if you read the whole situation.
@ExoSC8 cheap deadspace copy? it doesnt take place in space. it doesnt use dismemberment. the guy who created this was behind resident evil 4, the game after which dead space's control scheme is modeled. dont get me wrong i love dead space but that and this are absolutely nothing alike.
Amazon has it for $29.99 new right now. Just ordered mine.
being fully honest my 3 fav games are Resident Evil 4, Half Life 2, and Bioshock
this game is like a fusion between RE4 and DMC. Excelent game

@adham2000eg I know that... I just wanted to know what were the controls for this game. Sometimes stupid developers map them to L2/R2 and don't let us change it in the options and I hate that.

what do you expect from the guy who created RE4? he can not make extension from that game play?
graphics are always not the strongest from japanese developers unless they are kojima production or SE.
japanese developed games usually have slower pace or more complex (sometimes clunky) controls, the precise aiming system in the game adds more variety in gameplay which is refreshing for a 3rd person shooter game. it takes creativity to do that, thank you.

You just said that Ninja Gaiden was "too tough to enjoy". How many people DO you know? Are you speaking for them, or do they all have one mind. And I have played tetris for an hour or 2 just to see how long I can last, before losing.

If you notice, he has a very passive viewpoint to the review, and doesn't hate on the reviewers, it's a fact that companies pay IGN and similar sites to up the score abit, just look at the score they gave Sonic Freeriders...
This game is really great! Although it's kinda short, I beat it in a total of 7 hours and 30 minutes, but it was worth replaying since I haven't upgraded all of my guns! Worth my 20 bucks!

i think this is the first game that has the word fuck in one of its achievement or trophy of course im talking about "Now That's A Big Fucking Gun" achievement/trophy

It is all those things that you mentioned and exactly what I enjoyed about it. However, it is rather short lived... sadly. I would really want a sequel but I don't expect that it will happen.

holy shit why is everyone getting all over my back for asking if it had a good story, every fucking review i watch says NOTHING about the story, excuse me for having my own opinion but story is the factor that persuades me to buy a game(and btw i'm speaking for them, i know about 15-20 people at school i know who don't play ninja gaiden simply because of the difficulty)
I recommend this game to hella friends, yeah they try recommend me a different HellRide in Dante Inferno but im happy i chosen Garcia over Dante.
The reason that I got this game is because it was different from all the shooter zombie games that are out there by the thousands ! .... this is a very good game ...and I only hope they come out with another one .... but it doesn't matter anyway because some other game campany like E.A. Capcom etc. ... will make a copy and market it ... add mutiplayer ti it ... and make a thousand sequels !

This game should've sold millions. It's bizarre, very fun, engaging, and absolutely unique. You can tell that a lot of work has been put into this game. It's not your average generic bullshit shooter.It proves to me that the average consumer is a dumb ass child that can't tell quality from a pile of dog shit. This game, Catherine, Dark Souls, Deus Ex: Human Revolution are the most unique games I've played this year.

@gohcool games like mass effect, God of War, Gears of War, L.A. Noire, CoD and the like have plenty of creativity. Content, you're looking at games like Mass Effect, Fallout, Dragon Age, Elder Scroll, Fable, Noire, and many more, and arguably western games have more good, multiple ending games that are made recently than Japan. There's also the uncharted the top contender
The 'still number 1 game', despite criticism, is WoW for its content and creativity. Number of players indicates it.
got this last and love it, so underrated and should have sold far better. vanquish is another great game that should have done a lot better.

Always the case with Suda51. "No More Heroes" series? Underrated! "Killer7" (GC/PS2) underrated. "Killer is dead" underrated. I didn't like "Lollipop Chainsaw" but if I were a girl I probably would enjoy that game too. He probably made that game for gamer chicks, but yeah he is underrated alright. "Underrated" is his middle name. In fact we should call him "SudaUnderrated51"

Not quite as AWESOME as Dantes Inferno but still looks like a blast. I questioned if this would be any good of a game but now its on my christmas list, ya theres to many other games between now and christmas that I have to worry about other than this one. I still look forward to playing this one though. I think this looks better than F3AR even if theres no multiplayer.
This looks like resident evil 4 on crack. I want this.

Shadows jokes are not classy, but they don't go over the limit with it
By the way i would call the game a puzzle shooter.. The badest thing about the game was the section with the big boner where you had to kill huge monster in a stationary position... The whole thing was fun but not the 10th time you died!
Seems like a mix of RE4, BioShock and Gearz of War.

I have 4 top games cuz im super,very extremly picky when it cumz to buying a good ass fun game. and shadows of the damned has it all. its one of my top, if not my top game.
@AgentCell This game sold only 120,000 copies for the ps3 and 100,000 for the 360..Enjoy this dud because that's all she wrote..You can't rip off two commercial duds like Dark Sector and Alone in the Dark and expect it to do well. Fuc*, I can't even remember this bomarama coming out!
basically everyone i know does not like ninja gaiden OR sports games and not because they suck at them and just because a game has been around for 30 years does in no way make it good, sure tetris is fun for a few minutes but NO ONE i repeat NO ONE would want to play it for hours on end

@ExoSC8 Cheap Dead Space copy? lol do you know who was involved in creating this game? Shinji Mikami the dude behind Resident Evil 4 which pioneered that kind of over the sholder gameplay view so im pretty sure hes allowed to use his own gameplay mechanic that he designed in his own game...so if anything Dead Space in your eyes not mine would be the one that ripped off this game..your just mad that PC misses out on alot of great games..
One of my least favorite reviewers but this was a great review. He sounded really bored though. I'm still buying it though!
@topografer That being said i've propably have played more western games, cause there are many japanese games that are too...ehmm japanese i guess:D I have to say that lately western games are cathcing up with games like Mass Effect, Red Dead Redepmtion and stuff like that
