I came across this game a few years ago & the graphics are still solid to this day. This game holds up really well & has got to be one of the best boxing games of all time.
Just like so many others, I want a new Fight Night game. I've been playing the series since it was known as Knockout Kings and wish that EA could just forget about UFC and go back to making the fighting game that they actually know how to make.
lil BH usually there are 3 to 400 people online but it does depend on the time of day. Its a bit hard to find a match unless you know the menu well. But its a great game that YES you can still play online!
Juan Sol Badguy nah as long as the UFC is around another fight night has no chance, don't get me wrong tho I like boxing just not as much as MMA. It'd be dope if they decide to make another game tho
It's scripted not a spike. It's ment to be that way. If you fight frost in normal mode he's very easy to beat even on hardest difficulty. Can't really compare them. The Andre story has you complete sections and stages. Its not a free to do what you want fight. It's ment to be the hardest challenge.
***** I'm wit you on that. Round 2 was my favorite too. I thought I was on my own in that argument... this game should've taken everything right from 2 and 3.. erase 4 and make this into the best fight night ever. EA always tries to scrap what doesn't need fixing. The vice mcmahon of console games
DNAngel I wonder if they would finally be able to add Mayweather. Does anyone know why he hasnt been in these games? And i mean officially in the game. Not the fake Mayweather created by users that you can doenload.
hectik5010 Reason for that is simple, Floyd asked for too much money to have his likeness included in the game that EA ultimately gave up on trying to get him and made the game without him in it.
@@Kenny.1979 Counter punching n getting the flashes was so addicting and looked so fancy with some boxers. i was a countering fiend lmao i would barely block and instead duck and weave, with a style like Floyd Mayweather's
I LOVE this game & still play it til this day. I really wish they would've explored the amateur boxing portion more. Let us fight through the silver gloves, golden gloves & Olympic tournaments.
I quite like the updates since FN4. I like how the punches are a lot faster and there is a much smaller window to throw counter punches. I also like the auto block for body/head shots it just allows you to be that little bit more quick on the return. I think they could have just made the knockdowns a bit more realistic though as the transition from slow mo cam to the fighter falling over can sometimes look a bit odd... I like this though, a definite improvement.
Even on my old tv this game looks incredible. The fighters move and punch as they would in real life, it's awesome. Definitely my favorite fight night.
Just want to say. Bought an old Xbox 360 for this and a few others, 2024, this game still looks modern in it's own right. It was so far ahead of it's time graphically. And it's still the best boxing game TO THIS DAY!
Fight Night Round 4 requires alot more skill that Champion. If you played 10 games with the same person on Champion you would probably win 5 each, simply because it feels like an arcade game, rather than the sweet science of boxing and you can't block to the body on Champion, what's with that? Fight Night Round 4 is a game that really seperates the boys from the men in terms of skill, due to the blocking system and punching system, it requires skill, but you can still have a tear up on Round 4.
This game goes down as the GOAT of boxing games, needs a ps5 upgrade and a super series feature for the undisputed championship. (At all levels) Also a Rookie boxing career mode before going pro (perhaps an Olympic integration) It needs properly coding so the punch luck is decreased for big shots. One last thing, create your own entrance + music from Spotify. EA come on we have waited now is the time. Lets get ready to rumble!
@LargeRedRizla I think they meant they added a power modifier so that any punch can be like a haymaker, so haymakers are still in the game if you modify say a right cross. Also, there are still stick controls for punching, t hey just only require flicks in various directions instead of circular motions.
I still play that game and still waiting on a new fight night champion 2 or fight night round 5 either ore you gotta believe it's going to sale out of stores all over the world...I mean hell people like me being waiting for dam near a decade for a new FIGHT NIGHT
I like both Round 4 and Champion. Round 4's controls were better an took skill but Champion with buttons is no skill. The Spamming in Champion wins you the fight but if you spam in Round 4 you will lose. The point system in Champion is ruined but the graphics are great and the flask KO is awesome. If Round 4 had the graphics and flash KO of Champion it would be the greatest.
Are you allowed to customize the faces of created boxers in this game like you could in round 3? Pissed me off a bit when I got round 4 and they just threw the face customization out the window. But hey I can't blame them I guess. Most sports fans are kinda douchey. Every time I ever fought someone online they almost *ALWAYS* had a normal looking created boxer. I only remember fighting one guy (out of a lot of fights mind you) who actually used the face customization. He made a black heavyweight look just like a gorilla. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a game.
I know this comment is very old but no. I hate the face templates but if you download boxer save files online you can customize the faces of boxers made with the face photo feature since EA took down Boxer Share.
@YABOYSUPERFRESH Sorta depends on what kind of fight your stuck on I.e (fights were you have to protect cuts). Big help is going into Settings and turning on the "Health" UAI bar. This way you can see how close you are to stunning or "Red Healthing" your opponent, to knock them out. You can also see your own health and how close you are personally to getting stunned too which is really useful and you know when to stay off your opponent so your health can recharge.
Hey, im thinking of getting this but I have never played a fight night game since round 2. So I doubt im any good, How is the challenge just on the normal difficulty, also, Are the punches only on the analog stick or can they be changed to buttons like EA MMA. lastly, Is his game an improvment over the last fight night, round 4 or whatever. This one caught my eye cuz of the story mode, lool
@crise1 thank you. its good to know i aint the only one who thinks what i think. I miss the FN1-3 parry system, it makes for excellent defensive strategies.
This game had potential but they watered it down too much. It's biggest flaw is 1 button block, people's idea of "skill" is exploiting this ridiculous 1 button mechanic.
@MOMOarabe i got the demo off of xbox marketplace and u could use buttons 2 the only problem is that there are some punches that can be used with the analog that u cant use with the buttons. It didnt make that much of a difference though
I agree, commentary is an underappreciated art in video games and is tough to pull off. I also disagree with the review that career mode is bad. Career mode is my favorite mode at this point.
yea the complex stick movement made the punches distinct and the automated blocks makes it feel like your not in control. the stats skills abilities for the punche are awesome but without the old controls it jut destroys an already good game
I still play this game to this day on Xbox One, its a classic. We now need a Fight Night Champion 2!! 🔥🥊💯 If any of yall trying to play my gamertag is xXB0XPH3N0MXx 👌
The only thing i dont like about this game is that the one block button and how the head weave does seem as good in the demo (ive only played the demo) is it worth getting im not sure. i like the physics and punch animations but i do like the blocking in fight night round 4 and head dodges better in it.
Patches and looney tuners ruined this game. You can't even get TKOs due to stoppages by a bloody swollen face. Too much right hand spam, atrocious footwork (ice skating), Ali can't dance, jab is useless, hooks miss for no reason, broken stamina system, backstop and sidestep uppercut spam, slow unresponsive controls....not a true boxing game at all. Not to mention 1 button block lol
So true. I'm rank #15 on FNR4 and could never transition to Champion. It just felt so casual, there was no skill involved. You just pressed one button to block and then spam jab straights, I honestly don't understand how people can find this game enjoyable.
@Hyper92793 Defending wasn't the main prob in FNR4 I just could not connect that stun counter punch which is as effective as a haymaker. My biggest problem is that after bringing the A.I in the danger zone numerous times I couldn't knock them down because they defended themselves like crazy I did manage to score one punch knockdowns only once in a few fights thats it. I did not suck at the game I had a good win-loss record 20-4 but alll my wins came from Judges Scores or Ref Stoppage not via KO.
Owner of all fight night games and this is the far best Ive ever played. I ve played through the champion mode and legacy mode and Im loving it. The training games arnt that difficult, just choose one that your good at and you get good xp. The online gameplay with gyms and titles is pretty darn great. Nothing like fighting a other human online, its very addictive....
question. I have a xbox 360 and Fight Night Champion original, and what to do to once again have a window to enter the online pass code (and I accidentally pressed the last option) probably meant that I showed this box InNot when you turn, there is some sort of option I found this box I can enter online pass? and where can I buy it? ) (I tried to remove the profile but nothing gave me still does not display) has not found a code in the store, unfortunately, although you may missed something?
Rd 4 had slow mo n flaws but it still had physics etc. Regardless It had a high low block which is soooooo much better than auto block. You can't have all these different directional blocks imo coz you can't look through the eyes... Plus your not holding gloves so It's too awkward to have more than a high/low on a controller. RT for head blocks down on right stick and RT for body block. Simple yet complex enough for a game. Or up and down on stick and RT. That's absolutely fine too. Imo.
people talk about the ps3 and the 360 but still want to be able to play its games via backwards compatibility.. That shows you one thing that the ps3 and the 360 are legendary console that will never be replaced...
I bought FNC off PSN a few days ago,and to my surprise its my fav FN yet and imo the best one yet also. Its definitely an improvement over FNR4 in many areas.Bare knuckle mode is fun and brutal,Champion mode is scripted and puts u in situational positions but its enjoyable and short. They still need to improve the fighter introductions, like announcing there name and saying there record, and also say the score at the end of a fight.Overall i'd rate 8.5 - 9/10
A few improvements I'd like to see (or hear) is a huge increase in the various things the sportscasters say. In Career mode, it's great how they'll comment sometimes on how you're fighting and even talk a little boxing philosophy, but after the 2nd fight, you hear them saying the same things over and over again.
picking this bad boy up on 360 huge boxing fan. wished they had more fighters that aren't as "known." like amir khan. glad diego corrales made it one of my fav boxers sucks that arturo gatti didn't get in the game. hopefully some DLC will come to add fighters.
@cheatingwanker I disagree. Jabbing to the body is as good as a weak straight punch - depending on how you use it. Sure, jabbing to the body will open you up to a left hook from the opponent but so does every punch - each indivual punch always has a good counter-punch. The best use of the jab to the body is to create an opening to the sides and also to the head - in-game and in real life.
@blkd25 I agree about the judging. Its so predictably based on "punches landed". Jabs = power punches. And 1 good hard shot beats 2 taps every time in real boxing. But not in this game. And considering that, the AI is so cheap with the punches. However, I don't agree about the Hayemakers. I love punch modifier, much more realistic than in round 4, and the fact u can do it with straight punches and in combination make is superior to the others. Parrying was always so cheap to me
@mindfull777 Ever since round 4,i've been getting blisters on my left thumb and palms...I've been coming out of these fights looking worst than the boxers...And that power modifier pisses me off. There is no reason for my index finger to be that far back on the controller, when i'm trying to throw a power shot. It's got to the point where I throw ,like ,literally ,2 power shots a fight, while I get hit by over 100.
Story mode was good, but i was hoping for some straight up matches... it seemed every fight there is some stupid thing you have to do ie win only with your left, no low punches, knock the guy out in the first rounds etc. Further more the game progresses in difficulty pretty decently until you get to the the champ frost where the difficulty explodes by about 10 times. The fact that the champ can just 1 hit you at will makes you feel like your playing an arcade game rather than a simulation.
This game is so intense, imo. Champion mode was different and pretty fun. And the whole broken hand, cut on the eye, etc. fights are what made it interesting
The only problem I have (I don't play online, so this is the only thing I have to complain about) is the update/tuned stamina meter which makes a boxing match impossible to win after 4 rounds. It burns off so quick, even if your character is at 100 stamina. Un-installing the patch shouldn't be something I have to do to make the game workable like it used to be.
Regardless of what other people think, I have to give it up to EA for experimenting with their styles in Fight Night. There's nobody else making boxing games out there, and they can damn well keep to the same style as Knockout Kings if they wanted. I haven't gotten the game myself, but for there to be a true story mode, it definitely looks like something to try out. I look forward to when EA gets the style down perfectly.
@Theshofumiah1 definitely buy this one bro. The gameplay is better because it is slightly faster with the movements, the controls are relatively the same except for extra punches added in (makes it even better) and the ability to use the buttons to punch which i think is a great addition. the story mode is awesome n even the legacy mode got upgraded...i dont know why the reviewer said the that mode is terrible, atleast they added things into it like upgrading specific punches like ur left hook
Just got the game 4 days ago and have been playing non-stop. Finally got the title shot against Frost and I'm getting OBLITERATED. First it took me a good 20 or so try's just to 'survive the first two rounds'. Now I can't get out of the 3rd round. Bah!!! He's a BEAST!!
need da old way of punching back, need da old way of blocking back, need da stun punches flash knockouts n power punches back, need da old taunt n illegal move back, need da old tie up back,
EA Sports needs to bring back fight night.
Apart from the bugs..
Still waiting....

For android
Still waiting

They finally made this game backwards compatible on the Xbox one
But no update
Just like so many others, I want a new Fight Night game. I've been playing the series since it was known as Knockout Kings and wish that EA could just forget about UFC and go back to making the fighting game that they actually know how to make.
can you still play fight night champion online?
yeah u still can but very few people play online sadly

THIS is THEE best Fight Night! If you're complaining about the controls in this game then you're just a lame no skilled button masher, simple as that.
Nope, Round 3 Is still the Undisputed champ over all.

T'Challa controls for round 3 were better.
T'Challa best boxing game of all time hands down Fight Night Champion
Marcus Thomas how did you misspell 3?
Still playing in crazy 2020. Started a new legacy and having so much fun lol
Fight night > UFC
I love fight night
Make fight night 2
Because I can't play it on the next gen consoles
Make Fight Night 2? They did that in 2005. Champion is the fifth game in the series.
It just got backwards compatibility on Xbox enjoy my friend
PinchBOOM__ __ now you can
Yep fight night way better than UFC
I want them to make fight night champion 2 on Ps4 and Xbox 1 that would be epic

fight night round 3 was easily the best in the series, making your own fighter, even choosing his shoes..was so good
No way man, fighting speed was like they were on some horse tranqualizers or something like that!
Adam Purcell lmao bro on FN4 u can make ur own character tf? lmao
Adam Purcell: I agree
Still the best fighting game ever. Never understood why this didn't get a sequel. I thought it sold well.

dude we need fightt night for PS, XBOX and Nintendo Switch, its been years since we had a proper boxing game
EA should bring back Fight Night!
@AceKinq34 I know right? They should have mentioned about the Online for Fight Night Champion.
4 bucks on psn right now..ps3. nice!!!

@LeoTechGamerRKO
thats why hes says to read the full written review at ign.
A few improvements I'd like to see (or hear) is a huge increase in the various things the sportscasters say. In Career mode, it's great how they'll comment sometimes on how you're fighting and even talk a little boxing philosophy, but after the 2nd fight, you hear them saying the same things over and over again.
@MolesMalone IGN is the best. Paid for playing games. Best job ever.
buy this. i got it off amazon for $23$ totally worth it, love the champion mode; you actually feel the emotion
picking this bad boy up on 360 huge boxing fan. wished they had more fighters that aren't as "known." like amir khan. glad diego corrales made it one of my fav boxers sucks that arturo gatti didn't get in the game. hopefully some DLC will come to add fighters.
"even though it fails to connect on all it's punches" I'm not sure that's what he meant to say
do u make ur own charactor and to take som1 down does it hav to be a power punch i have only played the demo

Info of Ali vs Tyson
@cheatingwanker I disagree. Jabbing to the body is as good as a weak straight punch - depending on how you use it. Sure, jabbing to the body will open you up to a left hook from the opponent but so does every punch - each indivual punch always has a good counter-punch. The best use of the jab to the body is to create an opening to the sides and also to the head - in-game and in real life.
@blkd25
I agree about the judging.
Parrying was always so cheap to me
I like Legacy Mode.
"...Ali plays with you, Tyson tries to destroy you" Haha true shit!
@TriptalkGuy i guessing that floyd isn't in the game because he won't sell his likeness to ea, but can't figure out why.
@permos12345 Both man, But if you are only getting one then get Fight Night Champion. Are you on XBOX 360 or PS3?
@Theshofumiah1
definitely buy this one bro.
We’re due for a new one
Just got the game 4 days ago and have been playing non-stop. Finally got the title shot against Frost and I'm getting OBLITERATED. First it took me a good 20 or so try's just to 'survive the first two rounds'. Now I can't get out of the 3rd round. Bah!!! He's a BEAST!!
I bought this game today because of champion mode and man is it awesome!
i like the old style of the right stick for punches. it was more challenging and required more skill
need da old way of punching back, need da old way of blocking back, need da stun punches flash knockouts n power punches back, need da old taunt n illegal move back, need da old tie up back,
Brutalized faces, Improved controls an actual story nuff said im buying it!
