After having watched the video, I still don't know what this car actually looks like. Good job Auto Express. Reviewing an Italian car with 3 seconds of wide shots, and not even a proper shot of the interior without this dude whining about some crap.
If Porsche can build a monstrosity that is the Cayenne, then by all means, go for it Maserati! It is gorgeous, a response to what the market demands. The brand has to stay profitable.
What a great review. James improved A LOT since his review of Renault Megane. Also, finally it's properly filmed and edited. The script is not boring and the review is detailed and long enough. Well done, AutoExpress. I almost lose hope in you when you release yet another 3-minute review recorded on a potato, but these reviews show that you are capable of proper stuff if you want to.
+Omar El Shazli I think it may have something to do with his accent. To me, his accent makes him sound kind of condescending or snooty, not to say that he is but that's how he sounds to me
+Iker del Palacio Auto Express and carbuyer are part of the same company, and I suspect many of their presenters left en-masse and this bloke is the only one left.
+Michael McDonald Less than 1% of people viewing this video hit the dislike button so they're not exactly in the majority. I think he does a good job too and completely agree with your comment.
Love the production (drone, moving interior views, camera above driver's shoulder, music, etc.) I hope it's not some supported ad by Maserati and hopefully we'll see this quality in other reviews! As for James, keep up the good work despite the haters!
Beautiful for an SUV, ugly for a MaseratI: the Levante is to Maserati what merchandise is to Ferrari. Purists call it blasphemy, and it *is* stretching the heritage, but it will ultimately bring in revenue and customers to fund the development of 'proper' cars. One might call this the 'Cayenne effect', after the car that Porsche quite possibly owes its current healthy state to. For that, I approve of the Levante, as much as I dislike the car itself.
Adam Pamungkas Again: good car, looks great for an SUV, but it's far from the prettiest Jag. Personally, I'd always prefer the XF, but it'll help bring Jaguar revenue, which they can use to develop 'proper' Jags. I would never buy one, but I don't mind its existence.
Fabian Espinoza The F-Pace is in the same class, though it's slightly cheaper and perhaps not as mesmerizingly perfect as the Macan, but it's a whole lot more appealing and charming. It stands a chance, I think. The Levante was made to compete with the Cayenne, and it holds up surprisingly well in the areas where the crushing, German perfection of the Cayenne runs rampant, without losing the Italian charm. It won't outsell the Cayenne, but will nonetheless do well in this expanding market.
Great car, saw it and sit in one in Geneva, it's miles ahead of the ghibli in terms of perceived quality and it looks just amazing in real life, pictures can't tell half the story! The styling is so good, certain elements, especially in the rear need to be seen irl, amazing play with light, especially if not in white
what's someone's sexuality got to do with their ability to review a car? The homophobia on here is truly disgusting. A lot of you are grown men behind your phone screen bullying someone who is just trying to making a living, just because he might be a bit feminine? You should be ashamed of yourselves.
this car has a lot of character which i appreciate, many new and old cars have lost that exciting factor that is needed. well done Maserati. now I have to wait for the test drive to see if the hype with the design/badge lives up to all what it promises.
Sorry but why are people knocking the presenter, how he looks or sounds is irrelevant, this is a car review, not a presenter review. I personally found it very informative and interesting.
No other car review channel continually makes the amount of unpopular reviews that Auto Express do! Also, new car buyers only have themselves to blame for Maserati only offering a diesel automatic SUV. They don't care how it goes / sounds, only that it has the best badge-to-running-cost ratio.
Has James actually left CarBuyers? Either way I do quite enjoy his reviewing style :] Thumbs up for James is one of the decent car reviewers on the RUclips platform
given the close ties now between Alfa & Maserati, ie 4C made at Maserati, i think we must assume the new Alfa SUV will share the same body, will grille & tail tweaks and a bit less power, i wonder if they'll do a GTA version with Maserati engine ???
I don't mind him, I just can't focus on anything other than his haircut. Either get a transplant or get it cut short. At the moment it's like a young Bobby Charlton, just before he went into comb over mode! Now I'm gonna watch a different review of the Maserati, it looks cool.
I wasn't sure about the looks after seeing it in the first pictures from the launch. But now, especially after seeing it driving in videos, I really like it. The interior is just so nice and classic Maserati. I'll take a black metallic Levante S with 21" wheels and the whole Zenga treatment... how much was it again??
Lovely SUV! never ever thought that premium Brands will ever build SUV's and im glad they did. cant see anymore X5s or Q5s. Congrats To the Premium Car Builders
Even if I can't afford a Maserati and if I would I'd still go for the Gran Turismo or the Quattroporte, I quite like what they did here. It sure came out better than the Ghibli, which is beautiful (really, it is, I like it), good-sounding and nothing else. I hope it will perform better than its Porsche's counterparts, but only time will tell.
The only thing that downgrades Maserati substantially is that they are owned by Fiat-Chrysler, therefore many parts are exchanged between the subsidiaries of Fiat-Chrysler. Maserati needs to be bought by another high-end company, or go independent and they will become even more successful. Not the review I was expecting, but wonderful car!
Friend to friend... who gives a damn? I'll take Chrysler interior buttons and a Ferrari engine instead of Ferrari interior buttons and a Chrysler engine.
Auto Express , kindly get this man off your reviews. if you cannot arrange a better reviewer then just get the review written on snaps playing on a slide, rather than having this guy blabbering. Thankyou :)
Chose Cayenne over this in September I waited for the levante and it was so disappointing. 1) Cheaply built car. Doesnt feel at all premium with the plastic buttons, and the layout. Throwing leather on a car doesnt make it premium. 2) Back seat is smaller than Cayenne. 3) Driving is subjective but this car was heavy, and didn't engross me the way the cayenne did. Huge disappointment considering Maserati came so late to the SUV market. Even the looks are poor. You could mistake this for an Infiniti.
Good Review! and well the Levante appears to be a very good SUV and it looks quite good for an SUV as well - My guess is that this car will be a good success for Maserati. The transfer of the current Maserati DNA to the SUV is a successful one IMO - The pushed back cabin appearance is particular well executed and if it drives as good as indicated in this review it will have some appeal for sure. Interior and seats also looks good. I ma not much into SUV´s but for what it is this new Maserati is very good indeed.
After having watched the video, I still don't know what this car actually looks like. Good job Auto Express. Reviewing an Italian car with 3 seconds of wide shots, and not even a proper shot of the interior without this dude whining about some crap.
Haha indeed I pause the video a lot though!
So true.
Exactly! we could do without the theatrics.
I agree , I came here for a car review not for his face review
How many people went "ahh fuck." when they saw it was him...
1-you again !
2-dislike video
3-write comment about you again and disliking video
lmao
+Melinda Park *DUDE SHOVE YOUR SPAM UP YOUR ARS*
+blocksterz Oh dear.
Shut up
This guy is so uniquely unlikeable. I don't know how he does it.
If Porsche can build a monstrosity that is the Cayenne, then by all means, go for it Maserati! It is gorgeous, a response to what the market demands. The brand has to stay profitable.

Yes we can see how refined it is @5:22 when you press that button, whole mid console moves... top notch quality.
True
I don't understand why people aren't happy with him reviewing. He's great. I'm not paid to say this. I don't even know his name! 😂
+Omar El Shazli I think it may have something to do with his accent. To me, his accent makes him sound kind of condescending or snooty, not to say that he is but that's how he sounds to me
Omar El Shazli I think he's great TBH
Omar El Shazli l
Noooo! This guy on here too?!?!?!
+Iker del Palacio Auto Express and carbuyer are part of the same company, and I suspect many of their presenters left en-masse and this bloke is the only one left.
He ruined Carbuyer and now he's ruining Auto Express...I can't stand this guy!
You're absolutely right! He sucks big time!
Was that a pun? :D
personally think he's an excellent reviewer.
This guy is a good reviewer. I'd like to see all the people complaining try to review cars
i agree with you...
+Michael McDonald Less than 1% of people viewing this video hit the dislike button so they're not exactly in the majority. I think he does a good job too and completely agree with your comment.
great looking car, very poor review
Really hope this is a success for Maserati so they can build the next generation of cars; the Alfieri and GT replacement.
It's Tiff Needell's son?....oh joy....
ok je has annoyed me before but this is his best review yet!
the guys not too bad. give him a chance.
+hyylo no he is positive like HIV positive :)
First Levante review in my subscription list. Well done Auto Express
Love the production (drone, moving interior views, camera above driver's shoulder, music, etc.) I hope it's not some supported ad by Maserati and hopefully we'll see this quality in other reviews! As for James, keep up the good work despite the haters!
Not one single overview shot of the interior. Horrible review!
+YM M 5:45 onwards
+boy638 that's not what I call an overview really. Very limited view from an awkward angle
+Auto Express dont listen to the haters this guy is good adt rewieving cars. Keep up the good work buddy dont listen to haters

Well said!!!
Do you think any of them can compete with the Porsche Macan? (Jaguar F-Pace or Maserati)

Couldn't get through all of this vid.
This review was really spot on.
The rear end is too plain.
agreed but I cant blame them
I have to admit, I liked the way the video started. Overall I liked the presentation of the car.
Great car, saw it and sit in one in Geneva, it's miles ahead of the ghibli in terms of perceived quality and it looks just amazing in real life, pictures can't tell half the story! Yep...
Looks like the lambo concept ...are these been developed as a joint project ?
I think the Levante looks amazing!!!
James, your reviews are getting better and better :)
Is this a new episode of "Little Britain"?
is it me or the building @ 0:14 looks like the one from Age Of Ultron
What's the name of the classical song right at the beginning?
The petrol V6 WILL BE OFFERED in the UK. they already stated so.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
WHAT IS HE DOING HERE?
+Alex Wong Lol
this guy will make me stop going on car channels... :(
Darionn17 Dota 2 I agree but there are some great ones like MotorTrend and CarWow.
+Alex Wong i feel that carwow is ruined now.. too much spam for views instead of focusing on more videos
Darionn17 Dota 2 But how about Telegraph Cars?Rebecca went there tho...
Am I the only one to think that these kid of SUV-s look a lot like Infinity FX.
+kara88bg looks better
J88go That was the name I was looking for😂
Oh My God, it has hydraulic steering?! Thank you Maserati!
I can't wait to see how it compares to the Jaguar F-Type.
Where are the front indicators? :P
imo. this presenter is good enough, he just being himself and done nothing wrong. great review mate. keep up a good work.
had to pause at 0:47 first of all theres NOTHING ugly about this beautiful car!!!
It looks amazing indeed!
+kimoy kalinago
beautiful for SUV-standards does not necessarily equal beautiful compared to normal cars, but i guess it looks OK
+kimoy kalinago It's a striking shot!
amazing italian style
It might be common, but the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is the most beautiful SUV out there.
Not until the F-Pace coming! Haha
Name of the starting music ?
you can only get the diesel engine in the UK? sucks to live there, then.
If it sells (it will, by the bucketload...), it'll be a great idea.
Can skis fit inside?
What is the name of the music ???
i like this guy's reviews
idc about others
I love this video so much im going to tap the like button not once, but twice😉
Even Louie Spence be like....."Girl, you need to butch it up a bit"

How good is this thing in the snow?
What about the interior??
Price?
I like it!
hows the reliability on maserati?
The blue works really well with he Styling. Nice looking car.
I had Maserati levante. its so good but breaks so often
he isn't that bad. Just a guy making an honest living and pretty reasonable review. Yes, he's a little 'theatrical', but that's no big deal...
No other car review channel continually makes the amount of unpopular reviews that Auto Express do!
Also, new car buyers only have themselves to blame for Maserati only offering a diesel automatic SUV. They don't care how it goes / sounds, only that it has the best badge-to-running-cost ratio.
Matt oh Matt!!! Please come back
Has James actually left CarBuyers? Either way I do quite enjoy his reviewing style :] Thumbs up for James is one of the decent car reviewers on the RUclips platform
Why maserati aren't launching the full fat petrol version is beyond belief!! Fingers crossed they do as that will be one awesome machine!
given the close ties now between Alfa & Maserati, ie 4C made at Maserati, i think we must assume the new Alfa SUV will share the same body, will grille & tail tweaks and a bit less power, i wonder if they'll do a GTA version with Maserati engine ???

great review thankyou
AUTO EXPRESS - Listen to your viewers if you cannot fire him then please put this guy behind the camera where we cannot see or hear him!
Lovely SUV! never ever thought that premium Brands will ever build SUV's and im glad they did. cant see anymore X5s or Q5s. Congrats To the Premium Car Builders
subaru impreza taillight?
Looks like a Qashqai with a a dj remix done on it.
it already looks old, hopefully maserati will get their game together in 10 years
seems to look similar to modern light suv cross fit cars but I guess the stamina makes the difference
So much better looking than the equal Jaguar crap
We told you to get this guy out! -1
Love it, would defo want a petrol one when its launched.
please do back seat review, as well !!!
Oh dear he's on here now too. Wanted to watch a levante review but just cant bear to. Sorry Auto Express will have to look for another video

Not the review I was expecting, but wonderful car!
Friend to friend... who gives a damn? I'll take Chrysler interior buttons and a Ferrari engine instead of Ferrari interior buttons and a Chrysler engine.
Why would you test the diesel?
Kristian Brandt
According to the reviewer, it's the only Lev model available in the UK. He seemed disappointed in that fact as well.
'Allowing it to tackle some pretty challenging terrain' Proceeds to drive it through a puddle...
Saw the guys from Maserati test this in Lapland (Finland) last winter. They had a Cayenne to test it against. :D
Tail lights reminded me of ix35. Intimidating looks.
People were upset about Porsche making SUVs, too.
paint coming off the exhaust surround/diffuser on the brand new press car. typical Maserati build quality then.
Did not expect to see this guy lol
I don't understand why they don't offer the petrol engines in the UK. If I order it, why can't you make it like you'd do for a Frenchman?
Looking forward to rounding up my sheep in style
6:50 "but for those who really can't stand *me*"
He looks like the type of guy who goes in his sisters room and stares at her for 7hours before going back to bed. Good review tho!
Auto Express , kindly get this man off your reviews. if you cannot arrange a better reviewer then just get the review written on snaps playing on a slide, rather than having this guy blabbering.
Thankyou :)
SUVs, and the people that drive them, are the scourge of the earth.
I can't even afford a bicycle and watching review of a Maserati
Chose Cayenne over this in September
I waited for the levante and it was so disappointing.

Huge disappointment considering Maserati came so late to the SUV market.
Even the looks are poor. You could mistake this for an Infiniti.
The beginning reminds me of GT5 prologue scenes
I feel all these little luxing up of cars is a great way to sap money and SAP more money when it actually is gimmicky

MASERATI LAVATORY MAYBE !?
Wait, I thought he was in Carbuyer?
