Thanks for watching! Hey Patreons! Exclusive Bonus Furby video has also been posted today! I talk about the Furby Chewbacca, Furby in the Thanksgiving Parade, and the lost Disney Furby collaboration! Head over to www.patreon.com/DisneyDan to check it out!
Disney owns the rights for Percy Jackson and The Olympians to make a show. So if the show succeeds they should make a thing like Indiana Jones but with the first book helping Percy, Grover, and Annabeth with finding the master bolt. It could be cool and get a older demographic to come to the parks. But that’s just my opinion
Great video! I'm the RUclipsr with the circle of Furbys as well as the Shelbies and Furby conversation videos you showed! I was aware of mascot costumes but not that they did so many different ones so I learned something today! It was a fun watch!
As a Furby collector & enthusiast, this video was quite exciting to see within my recommended! Not that many people talk about the Furby Mascot suits, and I think they deserve a little bit more attention! Also very nice collection you've got there!! : ]
Dan: the only way to turn Furbys off was to take their batteries out! me, whose Furby kept talking even without batteries: .......uhhhh I'm not sure about that.
I think it's both hilarious and kinda sad that the only idea the marketing team has to make Furbys more marketable to boys was to make them edgy, antisocial jerks.😂 Also I remember those "realistic" Furbys but eww the mascot for them is truly horrific, like we always joke that Furby ripped off the Mogwai from Gremlins but this one actually looks like it's some kind of Gremlin permanently stuck mid transformation.😰
"the first robot any of us owned" Teddy Ruxpin would like to have a word with you Dan 😆 Come to think of it, did they ever have any Teddy Ruxpin costumed characters? Could be an interesting topic for a video if they did.
I remember that the pilot for the Teddy Ruxpin cartoon used costumes instead of animation. This means there are mascot costumes of not only Teddy Ruxpin, but Grubby, Gimmick, and Wooly What's-It; along with a few other more obscure characters from that franchise that happened to appear in that pilot episode.
Last year at a convention, someone had a whole ton of weird toy bash art pieces that included a white "bride" & black "groom" furby conjoined into this weird 3 foot long black & white furry nightmare worm with a furby head on either end.
Words cannot describe how happy I am to see someone talk about these. I’m a furby fan and it angers me how so many fans ignore these wonderful cursed costumes
I remember liking Furbys as a kid as I always found them cute. However, looking back at the old 90s animatronic toys, I can see why some people were scared of them.
I made the mistake of bringing my Furby to school and it started DEMANDING food in the middle of math class. My teacher phoned the janitor to come remove the batteries. It was so incredibly embarassing
i once brung a 2012 furby (or was it a furby boom? i cant remember but it was likely a 2012 furby) into school and my teachers were so annoyed by it that they had to put it somewhere else. i also sometimes used to bring other furbies in so i could do a thing with my furby with my friends which was called ''flying furby'' where we would make our furby fly outside during breaktimes while singing ''flying furby, FLAP FLAP FLAP!'' i only remember doing it with a furby boom and i think it didnt have any batteries in it then so that it wouldnt annoy the teachers.
Hello DisneyDan! You should check the Spanish parades we have on Christmas (they are called "Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos" as in "Parade of the Magic Kings") You will find a lot of bootleg costumes. Some are funny others... Disturbing to say the least
Lil update 8 months later for fun~! China has now made a Furblet (the current generation's term for a Furby Baby) costume; specifically the one named Luv-Lee! It was seen on the 28th of September at a Toys R Us location and is set to be seen on the 4th of October at a Hamleys location! What I find interesting about it is how literally they are translating these toys into costumes. With the adult 2023 Furby costume, the ears/gem lights up, the eyes blink, and it even wears the necklace occasionally - just like the actual Furby toy. Meanwhile, Furblet's are completely non-articulated minus ears that are able to pop up and be pressed down to cover the eyes. So for the Furblet costume they made it have a static faceplate but have it so the performer can put their arms up into the ears to open and close them just like the actual Furblet's! It's such a small lil detail but I thought it was so neat that's the path they took~
Hey dan, great video! I think it would be really cool if you did a Thomas the tank engine costume evolution. There have been many full sizes Thomas train models made for day out with Thomas over the years and also a couple models made for live shows. There was also a really cool parade float Thomas back in the late 90s.
My brother and I both had the 2012 furbies. Mine was orange and his was blue. Mine died of age. But my brothers…. Well, if you pull their tail you can make them evil and they will stay that way, We figured this out by accident. So basically we abused my brothers furbie into having irreversible trauma, and we got scared and locked it into a metal safe for all of eternity
Literally the old giant furby mascot costumes in 1998 and 1999 in the USA kind of remind me of those Cartoon Network Blooregard Q Kazoo Mascot suits you see usually with the Mac mascot in Six-Flags during the 2000's era.... Blooregard moves weirdly just like the 1990's usa furby mascots, they just like slide while walking. Also, I wonder if the same door problem happens with him.
That was very interesting! It’s something how the majority of them, at least in the face, looked pretty on point to how the Furbys looked. Also, this really makes me want to see Dan talk about Teddy Ruxpin costumes (I don’t know if there have been very many of them though).
I'm such a furby nerd so watching this was incredibly entertaining and informative! I'm so glad to see such a well structured video of promotional costumes since I've seen a bunch of clips and pictures, but not much context behind them This convinced me to check out more of your content!! Thanks for the great vídeo ❤
I was a kid around this time and boy did I want those cool new robotic toys but never got one. Now I think they're hideous and terrifying and should probably be grateful I had no demonic Furbies haunting me in the middle of the night.
Ooooooh gottz, the memories! I remember that my younger brother and I REALLY wanted a Furby so badly, but our parents could only afford one. So we were given one for Christmas, I THINK it was Skunk. But it could NOT leave the house. Had to stay home. Which was fine. Truuuuthfully, we got bored of it REALLY quickly. 😅😅
Waiting for evolution of: Rocky and Bullwinkle walk around costume suits, Dora The Explorer walk around character suit, Diego, The Backyardigans, McGruff, Baby Bop and BJ, Scooby Doo walk around costume, The Rescuers characters, Tony The Tiger, Toucan Sam, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Roger Rabbit, Woody Woodpecker, Blue's Clues, Madgascar walk around character suits, Bolt and Mittens, Spot the Dog, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi and Boo Boo Bear, Fred Flintstone, and other retired Hanna Barbara walkaround characters, Bean Bunny, Fraggle Rock characters, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Marvin the Martian, Patrick Star, Squidward, Sandy Cheeks, the Pink Panther, Elmo, Zoe, Telly, Phillie Phanatic, etc. 📺🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥
I am traumatized and triggered. When I was a cadet at the US Coast Guard Academy, some of the upperclassmen had a furby they named Admiral Furby, made tiny little uniform epaulettes for, taught phrases like "Salute me, b****h", and then would wheel out into the hallway on an office chair to ambush unsuspecting underclassmen who were expected to treat it accordingly.
You should do a "Mall of America Costume Evolution", I remember seeing a Shark Costume, a Shrimp costume from Bubba Gump Shrimp, Peanuts, and now Nickelodeon characters.
Some of these appear to be based on the prototypes of the toys they were promoting rather than their final designs, particularly the Owen Wilson Furby and the slender Furbies with hearts for IR sensors
a weird thing i noticed is that the sensor/light detector/ir sensor above the eyes usually has 3 points, aswhere on the early costumes (1998-2000) it has 2, which is odd because that was only a feature on the late prototypes, shown here, ruclips.net/video/PHWcBbf0Eng/видео.htmlsi=m5XjRZVgjw7bLRt9
The 2012 Furbies that changed personalities scared me and my family away from Furby for a while, mostly because of the evil/rude personality. I think the 2023 ones fixed that problem? These costumes are really cute, though. Fingers crossed you'll one day cover The California Raisins costume evolution [including their appearances in vintage Macy's Thanksgiving Parades], because the history of the Raisins, as well as Will Vinton Studios, is super interesting.
I love Furbys! I still have the red/black one from my childhood. I got the 2005 version but didn't like it. The current kind are cute but you can't beat the OG lol
I think the first robot I might’ve owned was one of those fake Robosapiens called “Roboactor”, the Jia Qi TT313 robot that ripped him off. I’m not sure if it was that or the RoboReptile Feng Yuan ripoff called “Fire Dragon” or something… Idk. I also owned a wooden dinosaur robot toy, which I still own today.
... I was in my 20s when Furbies came out. I saw Gremlins, and Furbies remind me of them. I realize that the Furby scene from The Mitchells vs the Machines is insane product placement for an animated movie.
Same!
AND THEY JUST TURNED INTO FURBY BOOMS WHEN THEY STARTED SINGING IN THAT SCENE 💀💀💀

@@jenngra505And they were made by the same people as the Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus costumes.
I would love to see Dan covering Long Furbys. Just like it doesn’t even have to be a history just Dan laughing at wild Long Furbys
Last year at a convention, someone had a whole ton of weird toy bash art pieces that included a white "bride" & black "groom" furby conjoined into this weird 3 foot long black & white furry nightmare worm with a furby head on either end.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the limited-edition 'Gremlins' Furby that was designed to look and sound like Gizmo! =)
As someone named Shelby, I'm in absolute tears right now
My name is shelby too lol
Finally, a vid on Furbys I love furby
The only furby I ever owned (and still own to this day!) was the one styled after Gizmo, from the movie Gremlins.
Suddenly very nostalgic for the Shelby I had as a kid 😂 it was definitely grumpy but it was kinda fun to try to get it to like you lol
The Furby I had as a kid was one of those hyper real ones that was made to look like Gizmo from Gremlins.
I have a deep seated phobia of Furbys and am hoping this video will act as some kind of immersion therapy.
I regret my choices.
You’re not alone. They still haunt my childhood nightmares before skibidi toilet became a thing!😬😂
Glad you're still doing costume evolution videos, Dan! 😀 But will you please do Bugs Bunny next? 🥺
I second that suggestion.
@@Shark_Builds_Bro Same with Daffy Duck!
That'd be great! I have a picture somewhere of myself as a child with Bugs at six flags circa 2002.
