My friend is a professional cosplayer and his Buzz Lightyear costume made the front page of a major publication. He didn't create it mascot-style, but as a replication of the classic space suit. His Thing costume is also amazing.

I'm amateur cosplayer, and I think that non-mascot-style actually works better for cosplays, so I'm not surprised that his cosplay looked good.

My dad used to work at a packaging warehouse, whatever it’s called, and he actually saw a woody costume while packing some stuff, he sent me a picture of him wearing the head😂👍🏽
I actually own a bootleg Bluey mascot suit from Peru. I got it to wear at conventions and events and looks pretty close to the official one. Most of the Bluey costumes in the video don’t do a bad job, even if something feels a bit off. The Mei costume actually looks really adorable, I’m actually hoping we get her in the parks soon cuz an official one would be SO CUTEEEE
I know for the likes of Encanto and most other Disney human characters it’d be a lot harder to find actors who actually LOOK like them and act like them. I guess that’s why most party companies decide to get lazy and just buy these horrendous abomination mascots.

I’ve always been extremely interested in bootlegs, something about it sometimes it being very apparent it’s not licensed but other times it’s hard to tell if it’s official or not unless you really look at it. Costumes with heads are the ones that are very apparent that they are not licensed so I’ve always been wanting to see someone talk about them lol

Also legit, all those Bruno costumes are just repurposed Jesus and I can't think otherwise. The Mei mascot is super cute though, no notes on that.
When I buy bootleg mascot suits I redesign them to be more accurate to the original characters!

The first Mirabel is a whole nother ethnicity. She’s a whole sister
Some of the Mirabel ones are a huge improvement on the Mirabel I saw at Glasgow Comic Con recently that was prompting one of those rent a character for kids parties companies. She looked like she'd been smacked senseless by Rapunzel's frying pan, her face was so flat.

I keep seeing this Luisa party costume on Instagram that seems like they literally got a model from the movie and turned it into a head sculpt. It looks real good.

In 2014 we brought our young daughter to an unauthorized Frozen tea party. Anna and Elsa made the day with their great rapport with the children if not especially movie-accurate looks… but the woefully droopy and deflated Olaf frightened the kids so much that he immediately got sent to the venue’s kitchen and if anyone wanted a picture with him they had to go back there 😅
Leave it to Disney Dan to make something incredibly unsettling become something incredibly funny.
Disney Dan it's a good thing that I've learned from this video, I don't know why they created bootleg character party costumes of the Encanto family.
But anyway that's not right to make the characters to look like that, with big heads.
They're supposed to look like real human beings, with professional makeup. Wigs and even for Mirabelle to wear real glasses.
Those in conto costumes are really out of place, maybe ugly. But really unappealing, it should be real actors, so they can look like real humans. With makeup, wigs and even real glasses

The best bootleg costumes I saw was for a kid who had a star wars birthday party and we basically got to do the Jedi Academy stage show but with less rules to protect the safety of the performers (no one got hurt, and there wasn't too much danger, as we were all first graders). It was a generic Jedi and a guy with implacable Darth Maul makeup.

4:29 He actually does. Jesus was born as a native to Palestine, which is next to Israel. Those people, back in 4 BC, would have had Olive or Brown skin. They were also more likely to have more wavy or curly looking hair. So yea. Bruno looks more like Jesus than most modern depictions of him. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that on purpose

I love that the bootleg costumes somehow have more effort than that Pac-Man cosplay I did last year.
All I can say is that it looks like a deflated balloon with a tiny Pac-Man face on it.
fun fact: they still sell those curly laces and they're incredibly useful when you don't have full use of your hands! :0)

Back when I was living in New York, I was in Times Square around Christmastime, and I met bootleg Elmo and SpongeBob.
I really love bootlegs they are hilarious to me. I don't buy them (because I could be spending my money on something more valuable and not something worth a penny) but these bootleg costumes are so cursed and yet just hilarious to me on their quality. Thank you Dan for stepping into the world of bootlegs. :)
