it’s important to note that you should double cleanse only in the nighttime, it’s best to cleanse with water in the morning time. I was double cleansing in the morning and night time and that is over cleansing and my skin barrier was damaged and it burned to even put on my normal moisturizer. Now I’m just washing my face with water and putting on Vaseline because my skin is so fucking sensitive.
If you can get Aquaphor, I highly recommend (and I believe Dr Shereen does, too, but don't quote that) If $$ is an issue, some stores make their own cheaper version, or, if you have good medical insurance, a general practitioner may be able to get you a prescription version. If not possible atm, no worries! The main ingredient in Aquaphor is petroleum jelly, and as the saying goes... if it ain't broke, don't fix it! 😊
Hi for those of you who have sensitive skin and don't wear make up, you don't need to cleanse twice. If you are using Vaseline (Shea butter is so much butter for us with irritation to PJelly!!) then you have to double cleanse at night to get that occlusive layer. Otherwise you won't be cleaning the skin underneath and it won't all come off. You can double cleanse with the same cleanser with this layer, but not makeup.
Can you show us a double cleansing routine for people with ‘sensitive & dry’ skin? I would like some product recommendations because I don’t know what products to use that won’t cause irritation or dry out my skin.
True. I just started using regular old Cheapo hand soap for the first wash. And then for the second one I use a rice polish from tatcha. Squeaky clean. I noticed a huge difference putting products on my face after this they soaked in so much better.
I think it depends tho… Not everyone’s skin is built same or in the same state. The very cloudy regions, alot of folk don’t wear sunscreen along w makeup may not need to if moisturiser is only being used after cleanser. May only need 1 wash depending state of face and which cleanser using
Interestingly, Dr Shereene Idriss does the same thing. But she does the micellar water first, then the cream cleanser. Do you rinse the micellar water off?
Does this also apply if you don't wear makeup? I do wear sunscreen obviously so idk if it makes a huge difference. I only cleanse once and I have no skin issues to speak of but I guess I'll try double cleansing and see what it does.
Yes. If you wear sunscreen, it’s a must. Whenever you get a facial with an esthetician, most of them will also double cleanse your face. It helps ensure any and all free radicals, oils, sunscreen is off. And it helps you in case you tend to have skip areas for your cleanser
Since Double cleansing is important, when speaking about cleansers, can you suggest double cleansers for every skin type? Is there a reason you have not spoken about what the safe types of double cleansers for every skin type? Is oil cleansing advisable for oily skin types? It seems imperative to use an oil cleanser for oily skin.
Using an oil cleanser as a double cleanser breaks my face during the summer because i get rewlly oily. I use miclear water as my double cleanser then wash off my face with my regular cleanser.
Double cleansing did irritate my skin (I have dry and sensitive skin). Now that I don't double cleanse anymore my face feels and looks a lot better. So I would say it's not for everyone. ❤
When you wear makeup , 2 cleanse must. But when i look at an African woman who doesn't wear makeup ,and her skin is gorgeous, doubts come to my mind about double cleanse for her.
Yes it is worth it and tonic water between every time water is in contact with your skin. And especially a Tonic water with no Alcohol!!!!!!!!! There are loads out there with no Alcohol!!!
I used to use an oil cleanser but it felt like it got me bumps on my skin so I stopped and just used a water based cleanser. It got better then bumps came back though. I only use sunscreen
I am not going out, not wearing any sunscreen/ make up, just using moisturizer one time at home... Do I still need double cleanse?! I do double cleanse but still want to know. I do exfoliate weekly use tretinoin... The facewash I use at night is Cosrx Salicylic acid cleanser. I just want to cut off double cleansing?! Should I??
Yeah you probably can, coz the main purpose of double cleansing is to take the makeup , sunscreen or the dirt you got from being outside the whole day. So if you are not doing any of that you can just cleanse once properly
Can massaging your face (more then 5 minutes for exemple) while using cleansing balm every night cause trauma/damage on the skin ? I really enjoy doing it because at the end I feel like more grit coming out.
*I am not an esthetician or Derm*.... from what I have learned, it depends on the technique! As long as you pay attention, ensure there is a balm or oil to prevent friction, and you avoid excessive pressure, no tugging or harsh rubbing, and take care to be super gentle around eyes ( or maybe just avoid, not sure about that!) you should be fine. If I am mistaken, and/or have useful tips, plz share your knowledge (esp if you have the education/experience to back it up)
@@hallievanoutryve3109 Oh yeah ! The eye area is so thin. My instinct tells me to pre-wet a cotton pad before putting the cleanser then let that pads sit for a few secs before swapping it off.
It's recommended for night time, because that's when you're trying to get all the grime of the day off your face. To double cleanse in the morning would just strip all the skincare products applied from the previous night. Hope that helped.
I check my skin condition every morning since it’s summer time and I have changed my pm skin care products and bought a lot different products to try and see which suits me the best. So I check in the morning, if I am not oily I skip. If I am oily I rinse with water or use micellar water to gently wipe off the dewy parts. It really depends on your morning skin condition IMO.
Yes. I’ve heard more and more that you’re in fact supposed to rinse off the micellar water bc the ingredients left on can cause irritation. Whether that’s immediately or over time, idk, but it’s not supposed to be good.
That’s not common sense by now? I mean you don’t have to even wash your face in the morning with cleansers. I usually check my morning skin condition and if I’m not oily I skip it. At most I use Bioderma’s micellar water. BUT night time! Please do double cleansing after your skin was exposed to so many pollutions and your makeup etc. Why is this still not common sense by now?
double cleansing means twice in a row not twice a day. but if you do cleanse twice a day double cleansing would be reserved for nighttime. hope this helps!
why is double cleansing important? how is it not wasting product to double cleanse? skincare is so overwhelming now lmao it used to just be “you need to wash your face in the morning & at night with some steps after each.”
Yes. Double cleanse at night to remove the day from your face: sweat, sebum, pollen, pollution, sunscreen and makeup (if any). Give your nighttime actives a chance to penetrate and work effectively for you.
Can someone help me on the steps in double cleansing with micellar water. Should I use micellar water first then a gentle cleanser? Or just use micellar water then just water to cleanse?

This what i do, twice at night and rinse only with warm water in the AM and my skin is so naturally hydrated now i love it.
Not as a moisturizer. Its to lock in your already applied moisturizer @hallievanoutryve3109
cleansing with water in the morning is not recommended for oily skin she said it in a video
but I usually double cleanse at night and morning and my skin barrier is fine, maybe it's because your skin type is sensitive?
Interesting because I always thought double cleanse automatically meant oil cleanser then normal cleanser. Your videos are very helpful!
The purpose of oil cleansing is to pull off water resistant residues left behind at the end of the day. That’s what I read

My recs: La Roche Posay Toleriane is awesome, Vanicream is popular and Aquanil is less pricey and very gentle. I have rosacea and sensitive skin.
Double cleaning makes a huge difference.

Very true i agree cause it can aggressive the skin too for some people

if you wear thicker consistency or water resistant sunscreens, then yes double cleansing is the way.
I can only do it once ..and horror of horrors only with a microfibre cloth. It changed my skin for the better once i ditched the products 😏
I always thought double cleansing means micellar water and gel. I didn't know it means we can wash twice with gel. Thanks doc ❤
Do you still need to double cleanse if you're not wearing anything but sunscreen?
Yes
If the sunscreen is thick in consistency or water resistant, then yes

Tonic water is the sweetened sparking water that you drink.
Can i do it twice with a gentle foaming/whip cleanser?
what about when you dont wear make up? seems a bit overkill to cleanse something thats dirty but not dirty dirty...
Can i use a gel cleanser and a cream foam cleanser? I dont wanna stray from the two that my skin loves lol
Yes.
It depends on the cleanser. I use st ives and it takes the shit off. I use the gentler version.
What eyeshadow are you using?
I used to use an oil cleanser but it felt like it got me bumps on my skin so I stopped and just used a water based cleanser. It got better then bumps came back though. I only use sunscreen
Is this only when wearing makeup??
I using incredibly deep clean cleanser and then a very gentle. Hydrating cleanser. and leave it on for a minute.
Do does it work like double cleansing
In a previous video you said that in the morning you should ONLY cleanse with WATER...so now I'm confused.
It’s twice at one time in the evening.
Can you do micellar water and then a gel cleaner?
Yes.
WHAT? I have to rinse Micellar water OFF? WHAT? Wait for me! I am way behind.

I dont wear make-up. Do I need a double cleanse?
Can I just wash my face twice with a foaming face wash, or cream wash?
If you're wearing sunscreen as you should that's not enough

That's what I do. Works great!

Yes
If you’re not wearing sunscreen, you wash properly, & don’t have any skin issues then no, you don’t have to.

Its really only beneficial for those that wear makeup and spf daily in my opinion. It will irritate you otherwise from my experience.
What about clensing milk
