You’re missing out on assembling the engine if the machine shop is doing it. It’s a lot of fun! A lot of great parts should yield you plenty of fun with no worries tho. Can’t wait to see her fire back up.
I really wanted to do the engine build myself but I just don't have the time for it. Plus it'd be a lot of researching since I've never done one before. Hopefully on the next project car I'll be able to. Thanks same here!
@@RatchetWrenches just remember it’s a machine shop, not an engine builder. Double check their work. I’ve heard of them installing pistons backwards and all kinds of crap.
@@shawnsilverstang2138 yeah sure for sure we'll make sure to
Assembling a short block takes a lot. You gotta balance the crankshaft, check tolerance, gap the rings properly. I took my 4.6 3v to a machine shop to have them put the short block together. But I am putting the rest back together myself.
@@RemiBarna the machine shop balances the rotating assembly you can check the weights of the components on a scale but that takes high dollar equipment to do that work the crank especially ! The ring gap is easy !
Sounds like a solid list 👍
Thank you!
Sounds like some good stuff man, can’t wait for more mustang content!
Thank you! I can't wait either. Things are starting to move along at the machine shop so it's only a matter of time
YOOOOO LETS GOOOO! Hoping to do first start when you’re getting the engine back
HYPED! For sure we will 🤙🏽
I’m running DSS pistons with valve reliefs as well but mine are for .030 bore. I ran the ModMax forged crank and rods good to about 800 wheel. Todd Warren cams with stock heads and intake.
Car made 573rwhp on the first pull at 17psi through a Vortech V3 SI with a 3.15 upper and a 10% OD lower. All 8 rib. After that the driveshaft let go at 6k and took out the transmission and cracked the block. So now the motor is back at the machine shop waiting to be reassembled into a new donor block. Got a built TR3650
from Lashbrook Built out of Oklahoma and the most important piece, a Stifflers driveshaft loop. I highly recommend getting one. It would have saved me about 5k. I took my broken driveshaft to a local DS shop and having them make me one to hold 800 wheel. The rear end I hope is ok. It knocked the pinion flange loose so I replaced the seal and tightened the pinion nut back down. So yeah, get a driveshaft loop.
Hell yeah sounds awesome! Can't wait to see how my set up performs. And holy shit didn't even think about that! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll definitely look into that cause I would hate for that to happen to my block after being built all winter.
Thanks for the update! Make SURE the machine shop line bores the mains since your running arp main studs. If they don't, it will eat bearings like a 3 year old eats Cheerios lol. I'm ready to see it make big power 💪
We'll definitely make sure thanks for the suggestion! I don't know how much longer I can wait, I've been ready since the summer! Gonna be epic
@@RatchetWrenches man I KNOW! It's going to be so sick 🤘!
That’s a nice parts list…Santa was good to you this year I see…
Haha yes he was! Ain't messing around this time
I been trying to find a website to find all these forged internals if you could help me out that would be nice cause I’m currently building a 2v to push 680whp
Hit up our channel sponsor Cody Queensberry at StraightLineSolutions. He sells numerous different brands you can choose from for your build!
Nice build list, have several of those on my own for my 03 build. Who did your head work?
Thanks 👍🏼 and Automotive Machine
Just curious why you went 10.5 to 1 compression? Are you going e85? Isn't that high for big boost?
Great build so far by the way. I have a 03 gt but going kenne bell route. You guys have given me a lot of great ideas!
Eventually I will probably be running E85 when I really turn up the boost, but for now I'm gonna attempt to run pump gas 93 and make as much power as safely as possible. But thank you! Kenne Bell is definitely sick but from what I hear the heat soak can be a major issue especially in the summer months. Glad we could help!
Awesome build list! I didn’t hear you say what oil pump you will be running. I was advised to run at least an HD oil pump.
Thank you! And I didn't mention it but I'll definitely be upgrading that for sure!
What’d you do to the engine with the first turbo I’m thinking of going turbo over supercharger what’d you do to the engine so i wouldn’t blow up
Not sure exactly how it happened but I had detonation in cylinder 3 and cracked a piston ringland
are you not worried about piston slap with that 10 over on standard bore pistons?
I made a mistake with the screenshot I inserted. The pistons are correct
What machine shop is doing all the work? I'm from NJ as well and looking for someone to do my 4.6
Automotive Machine in Hillside, NJ fixed my heads and did a little work on the short block but I found a guy in Delaware who is going to assemble the engine for me.
Do you go down to Myrtle Beach for Mustang Week? Been watching the build on your 2V I have an 01 gt that I'm making a project out of. Would love to hear yours in person, I'm stuck on either the S types or the ATAKs
I don't, but I've always wanted to. Unfortunately, wasn't last year (2022) the last year for Mustang Week? Honestly, from what I've heard, ATAK's are way overpriced for what they are. I personally love the S-types for a nice mix of deep sound but a nicer high note on WOT. If you like louder exhausts, I'd go with ATAK's or another brand that's less restricted.
@@RatchetWrenches Mustang week is actually going on they sold the company out so they are having still this year is September the week of labor day if you wanna go the original staff will be there this year to help out. And listening to the install video you did on yours it sounds amazing, how high in the revs do you have to be to really hear it?
@@blakedavis5540 that's awesome! Maybe I'll come down if I can get off of work then. And if I were to guess probably 4k RPM and up
_You still got that silver ram truck you leveled?_
I do yep
Sweet ;))) Did you put Flowmaster high flow cats on? I got the 3” universal .
I didn't nope!
@@RatchetWrenches Oh, you don’t have smog there ?
Good match of parts should be a strong build
Thanks yeah I'm excited to see what this combination can do
@Ratchet Wrenches it should be really healthy I'm running a 5.0 stroker with a kenny bell @ 14psi 904 wheel
@@chrispassarella5634 that sounds like one rowdy car!!
does anybody know where to get a forged 4.6 bottom end. bottom end not the rotating assembly
Are you asking for a complete bottom end with a forged rotating assembly that already has been assembled?
what clutch are you going with?
Honestly not too sure just yet still exploring options
@@RatchetWrenches Cody hooked me up with the Mcloud RST twin disk.
noti squad
Is it not possible to get the iconic "stutututu" turbo noises on these mustangs?
I don't believe so haha
