The Deep from the Amazon series is surely one of the more useful members of the team. The deep has the most practical powers, he just needs to focus on marine crimes, like illegal fishing and saving endangered Fish species, he could also use his power to organize a large cleanup of all the trash in the ocean and lead ocean exploration. So he’s a really useful superhero but he focuses on the wrong areas

I don’t know how to feel about his character I sympathize and relate to the whole body image thing but what I don’t agree with is him taking it out on women. The Deep seems to be one of the few heros that genuinely try to do good, and generally looks down on physically harming innocent people. Most of his attempts to do good seem to be focused towards sealife, though that could be said to be possibly selfish just motivated by guilt and trauma form constantly being exposed to the plees of suffering sea life, or his own romantic or sexual desires, however his good nature towards sealife can be overridden by his vanity, narcissism/ oppression with hus image, but also his fear of home lander and desire to please him. So well he is a piece of shit he is also one of the least evil and most genuinely heroic (when it comes to sealife) of the heros, however his generally stupidity, depravity and patheticness largely overshadows his attempts to do good

The Deep in the comics is one of the only decent members of the Seven, and one of the only decent Supes. He isn't doing anything bad so the Boys largely leave him alone. He isn't doing anything shady so there is no dirt to dig up. All he does is make movies, do publicity stunts, and not join in on the really messed up stuff the other supes indulge in. He sees what he does as a job, and keeps his nose clean for the most part. He is a backgroundish character because he doesn't do anything that would demand attention from the main cast. He even tells several supes to tone it down to avoid attention.
This is all fine and dandy but why are not people talking about Ad Astra? A sequel must be made. I am so mad of the pandemic. A group of us would go to the cheap theatre every Saturday and pay $4 to watch the movie. The theatre kept it running for us every weekend since there was 20-25 of us. We actually broke a record being the longest theatre Ad Astra was played in across the entire planet by a huge margin! We ran almost 2 years longer in the theatre than when it was commercially released! What an accomplishment and COVID ruined that. Now I want an Ad Astra 2. Comon folks!!! It only costs $15 bucks for a movie, if we are all willing to pay that, we can make this dream come true! Ad Astra 2 would be amazing,! Ad Astra is the best movie since Star Trek the Voyage Home and I want it to keep being successful. An Ad Astra video game would be sweet too where you can fight pirates on the moon and lazer blast those dam chimps! Think about it, who is with me?

The performance is great and the character itself is interesting and entertaining, but i feel like the writers struggle to make him relevant to the main plot. Ever since the first couple episodes of season 1 he's been... just filler. Everything he does is either part of his own separate storyline, that's not all that important in the grand scheme of things, or something minor. They wanted to expand his character from the comics, but why...? What's his purpose in the end? For some reason the show treats him like a main character, when he clearly just isn't. About half of his scenes could've been cut and ultimately nothing would change. Would've worked better as a background character.
YOu have something of a point but i disagree. Especially early on where the seven were the only windows into superheroes. He shows what they are, and different aspects of the celebrity world. He's used to explore and expand that. Now he's back into the main story anyway.
He is part of so much of the fabric of the show tho. The biting social commentary on his sex abuse, scientology, excommunication and return to the 7 - all of it adds so much depth to the show.
The thing is by taking a deeper dive on The Deep, the shows writers were giving us a look into the world of the supes without dissipating or revealing too much of the other, potential storychanger supes like Homelander, Maeve, Starlight, etc.
To me he's kind of a nice break from things and one of the few examples of effective comic relief in such a brutal piece of media, if you can call him that
