I think you are the best you have helped me to heal..What I can't understand is why we have to cater so so much to them and most of the time we get nothing in return. It's like walking on egg shells with these people. It would help us to navigate if they would work on themselves I'm secure and like you said I had to walk away I after 2 years it was to much not worth my time.

The real question is, what inside of you feels like you need to?

Thank you! It’s really hard to find support and resources for those of us who are married to a dismissive avoidant, where a lot of the advice that is useful in dating doesn’t apply! Thank you for addressing this topic.

    Hello
I’ve been married to an avoidant for 23 years. I just realized he was an avoidant a few months ago. Anytime we need to have a discussion he shuts down, he buries his head in the sand when it comes to important things. He grew up in a home that was very strict.I was discarded by him in June and it’s been very painful. Not only is he a avoidant he is currently going through a mid life crises. He stated he needs to live for himself now and he wants to be free. I noticed the withdrawal back in 2022. He left the home in September of 2023 and he’s been back since December. He seems very confused. I want my marriage to work out. I’ve been giving him his space and just being a friend to him. He seemed very depressed during all of this, now I’m seeing little peaks of himself coming back. I’ve always been the supportive wife, not sure what to do. If you have any advice I would really appreciate it.
