The problem with polarity theory / masculine & feminine energy in dating

The theory of polarity and masculine and feminine energies have become a big topic in dating and relationships. But is this just a reincarnation of traditional (and restrictive) gender roles? Is it healthy? Is it authentic for YOU?
In our experience, not only do more people WANT someone who they can connect with on multiple levels (ambition, emotionally, etc) and who are similar to them, BUT people also have better relationships and mental health when embracing and leaning into both "feminine" and "masculine" traits. @@matt566 Thanks for your comment. If polarity theory resonates then we encourage people to look for that, but for a lot of people we speak to, they don't feel it applies to them and so it isn't the only way!

LGBT has been using terms like "top/bottom" or "butch/femme" for 30+ years. They're not excluded from this, if anything they have been more accutely aware than most of the dichotomy... ❤

It's interesting that in the LGBT community they use different language to describe this dynamic (when it does play out) and have also consciously challenged assumed dynamics in dating and relationships. As they challenge these stereotypes and set up the relationships they want, we see a much greater variety of relationship types in the LGBT community which is an interesting observation for those in straight dating or in cultures/religions that push a certain "correct" way!
