I live in Japan. The Ultimate Starter Set is cheaper here, (19,800 yen) than the stand alone Tyranid Combat Patrol box set that's on pre-order (22,300 yen) So for less money, you can get 2 full combat patrol armies, terrain, decent quality playing mats, dice and all the printed rules. Very odd.
Sounds like a sweet deal.
If you like one or both armies, get two or more ultimate starter sets for the savings. And if you only really want one half you can split with a friend or sell it off online for more savings.
Me too I live in Japan and I buy two of this boxes 😋😋
DON'T USE GLUE IN THE PEG-HOLES! You are creating a cavern with incompressible liquid and a bit of air otherwise! This means you can't push it together anymore. The pieces will be pushed outward again, because you built an airspring. Only use glue at contact surfaces!

Yeah, I think I said, snipping the pegs a bit can help, maybe I said that in a previous video in the series.
The combat patrol rules are also in that little Core book as well. Combat Patrol game type is actually pretty fun in my opinion.
I hope to get this set later on in the year as i bought the introductory set and now ive caught the bug to collect these minis
I was going to get the mid tier set until the day before launch, but I realised that the boards were paper rather than solid card, this had me do a quick recheck of everything. working things out with the extra items, it almost made the set 1/2 price
If you want the boards and scenery the more expensive set is definitely the one to go for.
See i originally was gonna get the cheaper one as that has just enough to start playing with my fiancé (they are totally new whereas I already have a imperial guard combat patrol force) with some extras for fun an variation. However i also like using my models decoratively so the added scenery is a massive bonus!
So I'm not the only one who sniffs a book fresh out of the box?
Oh mate, its the best bit!
The ultimate form of starter set, compared to previous one, this have better miniature composition but the terrain is quite lacklustre
I think this box is only worth buying if you want the terrain, its a lot extra for 6 minis.
I'm sort of interested in the middle set for the models, this one adds stuff I don't personally need (scenery and boards, and a few extra figures) so doesn't work as well for me. But I guess getting 2 combat patrols for the price of 1 is a pretty sweet deal if you wanted to play that.
I'll be using the models in either Xenos Rampant or OPR as I'm not a big fan of WH40K rules - big fan of Rogue Trader mind.
OPR is something that is growing on me for sure.
What's that little beacon lookin' thing by the Space Marines in the picture?
Teleport homer.
The token for the Terminator Squad to signify their Deep Strike location. It’s completely optional
even the image they showed at 5:23 shows 12 dice why they only get 10 or is that image not from the site itself
I take the pictures from the GW site.
Scenery in a starter set!!!
I know right!
if i can get a ultmate starter set for €128 or the starter set for €68. what would be the best deal? seeing as i am new to the hobby
Tough question - depends how sure you are you want it - if you have tried and liked the game then you probably want the scenery and stuff - in which case the bigger set is better value for you - if you want to try the system and are not sure about it then that is a lot of money to invest.
@@ModellingforAdvantage thank you! i have decided to pull the trigger onthe largest set. since the tyranids look like a faction i would like to play and i love painting.
Blargh. Good thing GW helps me keep away from them. This "ultimate" set is wiat used to be a beginner's box
Too true.
AS A FORMER WARHAMMER GAMER(Nearly 20 years ago now) just wanted to say, SORRY, ITS NOT WORTH £125.00 OF ANYONES MONEY, IF YOU KNEW HOW MUCH IT REALLY COSTS TO PRODUCE THE PLASTIC MINIS AND TERRAIN, YOU WOULD BE SHOCKED, PUT IT THIS WAY IT COSTS A FEW PENCE FOR A STANDARD MARINE.
WORK IT OUT!
HENCE WHY I GAVE UP ON GAMES WORKSHOP, THE COMPANY USED TO BE ABOUT THE GAMER THE STAFF AND GAMERS WERE LIKE 1 BIG FAMILY AND THE STORES WERE ALWAYS FULL OF PEOPLE PAINTING, GAMING, CHATTING. BROWSING ETC BUT NOW MANY STORES ARE EMPTY OF GAMERS WHILE SOME HAVE CLOSED, THIS IS DUE TO MONEY AS ALWAYS, G.W WENT GLUTONOUS AND GREEDY, THEY THINK MORE ABOUT THE BUSINESS MAKING CASH THAN THINKING ABOUT THE GAMERS. SORRY FOLKS BUT THIS IS A FACT. APOLOGIES FOR THE RANT BUT IT NEEDED TO BE SAID.
ANYWAY RESPECT TO MODELLING FOR ADVANTAGE.👍
WHY ARE YOU TYPING IN ALL CAPS, YOU LOOK LIKE A CRAZY PERSON
