If cinema had not converted to this “fast fashion meets the movie industry” thing we have right now, I believe catching fire would’ve been an all time classic.

I've never watched the hunger games franchise but Mike makes me want to watch it all, buy all the blu rays, get a degree is filmmaking, find the set, and then recreate it in Mike's image
When she comes out of the tube into the arena, the aspect ratio changes and when I tell you my jaw DROPPED... that's movie of the century shit right there
Team Mags everyday I'm so fucking obsessed with her. She slayed her hunger games and then got slayed in the quarter. The double slayage is too much to handle. Mags and Rue are the only characters that have ever made me cry in any piece of film/literature
I laughed so much with the video, even went to twitter just to see those Finnick odar edits cause why wouldn't you??? But the thing with Peeta is that the producers of the movie did him so dirty, in the books Peeta is literally so good and kind to Katniss and his importance is that, in the months before the quarter quell and after the winner's tour, Katniss broke her ankle and had to stay like a month in bed, and Peeta was the one who toke care of Katniss and stayed with her as long as she needed (cause bestie was having a literally existencial crisis bc she felt useless while being injured), so Peeta helped Katniss development a better emotional intelligence¿? kinda thing, and helped her at like, letting her emotions come out of her and not just compress them inside of her. So yeah, Peeta has a lot more importance in the books but that wasn't showed in the movies and I hate the producers and screenwriter for that
i was so obsessed with the hunger games' political machinations all the time like the part where she came out in her wedding dress?? because she and peeta were gonna get (politically) married??? and she wanted outrage from the entire capitol full of everlark shippers??? i was screaming. that was inspired. they really gave us everything
the fact that i still remember exactly where i was when i read the ending to this book and how i felt says a lot imo. I literally just finished rereading catching fire last night so this was impeccable timing. Anyway: 1. You are not wrong this is the best movie full stop 2. Katniss was real excited in the book that her ointment for her blisters from the fog also had sunscreen. Like yessss spf queen 3. This movie is the perfect example of what it’s like to make correct changes to movies to quicken what is said in the story but without leaving out vital parts. They kept a lot of things exact but changed where needed. An actual masterpiece some would say

When katniss moves into the victors village it’s said that her house comes with a phone that she uses to talk to Cinna and Effie for victor business and whatnot. They probably have cellphones or something like that in the Capitol but the people in the districts barely have anything

It's insane unfair homophobic unhinged that I never got a prequel spin-off about how haymitch actually won
He's one of the best characters in the entire trilogy and I WILL fight about it
Would be a pretty dark movie bc im pretty sure his family was killed by Snow
I feel like our chances of this would get higher if the prequel movie does well 🤔
But it's gonna be r rated given how graphic the description was during the last hours of his hunger games
read the book! they talk about his hunger games in it
I think not enough people realize that when Katniss comes out to the arena, the aspect ratio of the movie changes. The black bars on the top and bottom of the screen disappear. I never understood why I was shitting my pants at the theater at that moment and when I found out that the aspect ratio is different when they're in the arena I shat my pants again.
It really brought the "shit your pants" energy.
Hunger games is one of the best books adaptations ever
they really took the time and i appreciate it
Except for maybe the third movie that felt sort of unnecessary iirc
They shouldn’t have tried to bank off splitting the last book into two movies, just cause it worked for Harry Potter doesn’t mean every series needs it 😕
So does it tie to the books very well? I havent read the books
@@Wooplot i read the books and yeah it did
@@HeyItsNovalee I kinda agree but also not! I feel like an important part of the 3rd book were the inner workings of district 13 and i feel like they wanted to show those in the first part. I just kinda feel like it didn't really work because on screen it was kinda boring
the fact that they didn't include Peeta's phisical disability is my villan origin story
Yeah everytime i remember i just clench my fist like that one meme
the movies did peeta dirty tbh, he was just way better in the books, more charming, more smart, more strong, more loyal, etc etc

I’m glad I’m not the only one who kinda admired the move made by president snow of cycling through former winners of the games for the quarter quell.
Is this endangering the movie’s protagonist yes, but like in a creative way I can kinda respect and get around
The craziest part is that the quell was not made up by snow. It worked out in his favor so he made it worse. But all of the quells were pre-determined for hundreds of years to come in the book
@@Raini2727 In the deleted scenes of the movie (that im pretty sure isn't canon to the book), Plutarch does a bit of girlbossing and changes the slip of paper for the quarter quell to have it be pooled from the victors, because he was already in on the whole revolution stuff. I have no idea why they removed it, seems like a cool addition.
@@max-bm1zf wait I actually kind of love that. I didn’t know about that scene! But it’s definitely giving girlboss and gatekeep with just a dash of gaslight 😌
I remember my 12 year old reading that in the book, saying "ABSOLUTELY NOT" and running with tears in my eyes like Donna in Mamma Mia 🥴

I... genuinely love this. my family watched the movies a few weeks ago and I was like. damn. these were actually good.
also I may be a lesbian but even I was like damn Finnick is 👀
but also Johannah... step on me PLEASE- 😳😛😍
Joanna could use me as a trampoline. 😂
But seriously, she's easily my favorite character apart from Katniss herself. I would have loved to have more of her in this movie. I find her backstory really compelling.
Johannah was SAVAGE in the books💅

Having experienced the Hunger Games at its height in the 2010s, it is SO disorienting to hear someone talk abt it using such 2020s vocabulary. I lovee
The fifteen “get a good lawyer” audio plays send me every single time 💀💀
Can we just discuss how Katniss’s hair always looks right? The chick gets electrocuted and she still looks like a glamazon ready for the runway, her power is unmatched
She's a female phenomenon, she's a glamazon
"katniss, peeta, and finnick are having sashimi on the beach"
WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY TO ME
sashimi on the beach sounds like a lana del rey song title lmao
mike you sure have a lot to say about the color orange for a guy boldly wearing an orange shirt on camera
and can we talk about the most powerful line in the whole movie when one of Snowsty’s computer peeps tell him “ sir we’ve lost power”, after Katniss blows the entire dome thing up
when i say that i was literally Obsessed with this book at age 13. so many iconic moments packed into one novel. I still remember how the "if it weren't for the baby" line absolutely gagged me. also tbh the movies did peeta so dirty, he was such an icon in the books but the casting was all wrong imo. on the flipside though finnick and johanna are the absolute mvps of the franchise they ate Every scene up and little closeted 14 y/o me was GUTTED when finnick d-worded in the last book
I was obsessed at age 9 💀 I read all three in one summer 2015 I think ugh I loved it but the third book I didn’t rlly understand tbh it was kinda hard for me to read but whatever I still was obsessed
Johannah was my favorite in the whole series HANDS DOWN. She was absolutely feral and also had pretty intense wlw vibes. Respect.

I remember being practically blown away in the theatre during the premier of catching fire. I knew what was going to happen (albeit roughly) and yet my jaw was still on the ground. If cinema had not converted to this “fast fashion meets the movie industry” thing we have right now, I believe catching fire would’ve been an all time classic.
I love how you can tell when Mike has a reaction clip he's currently obsessed with because he keeps using it throughout the video. The editing is always top tier but that Taylor "get a good lawyer" clip had me rolling EVERY TIME

So yeah, Peeta has a lot more importance in the books but that wasn't showed in the movies and I hate the producers and screenwriter for that
Matilda's father would certainly be very jealous of the blazer mr michael sir.

i was so obsessed with the hunger games' political machinations all the time like the part where she came out in her wedding dress?? because she and peeta were gonna get (politically) married??? and she wanted outrage from the entire capitol full of everlark shippers??? i was screaming. that was inspired. they really gave us everything
The scene where she enters the arena is literally one of my favorite in all of cinemas. ALL film departments are at an absolute 10.
the fact that i still remember exactly where i was when i read the ending to this book and how i felt says a lot imo. I was on the way to see family and i finished the book just as we pulled up to their driveway and i remember gasping out loud and just going like omg how am i supposed to function normally after reading that lmao
“ If it wasn’t for the baby” line has me so gagged in 8th grade. I was pirating the books on my laptop and I got to that line right before I had to leave for school. I legit could not think of anything else the whole school day.
Ok but you’d totally have a job bc you’d definitely replace Caesar Flickerman and get to interview everyone

So true my Frankie Grande era
cannot believe you skipped over when the wedding dress turns into a mockingjay... thats the shit

Favourite line of the video: "If a monkey roared in my face, I think that would be it for me" 🤣
no kidding, this movie is AMAZING. Jennifer Lwarence was on her shit and so many other supporting actors excelled as well. The budget was obviously huge and they used it the right way, the cgi and general look of the movie great. The music?? Top tier. The costumes?? Slay boots the house down. The storyline?? Plot twist👏🏻after👏🏻plottwist👏🏻 while still making sense.

I literally just finished rereading catching fire last night so this was impeccable timing. Anyway:
1. You are not wrong this is the best movie full stop
2. Katniss was real excited in the book that her ointment for her blisters from the fog also had sunscreen. Like yessss spf queen
3. This movie is the perfect example of what it’s like to make correct changes to movies to quicken what is said in the story but without leaving out vital parts. They kept a lot of things exact but changed where needed. An actual masterpiece some would say
YAY another member of the 'Meet the Robinsons' fandom, my therapist was so confused when I told him that that was the only movie to ever make me cry
I’ve only ever cried at a few movies in my life. Mostly understandable movies but one was Batman. Because. And I quote “Alfred just loves Batman so much and wants the best for Batman.” Idk. I guess I just had a lot going on at the time. 😂😂
I’m obsessed with Meet the Robinsons, it literally deserves so much credit that it never gets

3:10 btw they don’t have phones in the district, except for the really rich people who have landline phones. When katniss moves into the victors village it’s said that her house comes with a phone that she uses to talk to Cinna and Effie for victor business and whatnot. They probably have cellphones or something like that in the Capitol but the people in the districts barely have anything
The terminology, the humor, the Nicki memes sprinkled in… iconic viewing experience 😂

I was OBZEZZED with hunger games when CF came out, and the movie met my every expectation as a diehard fan and I still think about how fucking awesome it was to see it in the cinema for the first time. It makes Mockingjay's disappointment hurt that much more - that movie could have been great if it wasn't split into two.

in the book, the little sound katniss does for rue that ends up symbolizing the rebellion, was actually something from district 11 that rue taught katniss. not sure if that’s how it is in the movie
