    As someone who does inspections for telecom and electric companies the two biggest headaches you'll face are geofencing, and battery life. Qualified entities program doesn't work if you aren't a qualified entity (public safety/Government). Then again clients will often times only want to work with DJI products, since that is what they are used to, so it's a headache you have to learn to live with/work around.

    The one critical point missing is that even with the zoom capabilities of the Mavic Enterprise, all photos taken are at 1X zoom, basically no zoom. DJI needs go fix this. Why after spending 7K on a drone should we have to rely on editing software to fix the lack of "what you see (zoomed in photo) capabili ies because DJI shorted us on the firmware. They need to fix it now!

    I just returned my DJI as I was having problems with the power. It kept shorting for some reason and would literally cut out so I sent it back, they replaced it and I then had another problem with the sensor so I just gave it up at that point and got my money refunded. I've had the cheaper DJI's for years and never had any problems with any of them and then I spend 4.8k on my "dream" drone and both of them fucked up. It was clearly a sign so I'm now thinking about getting the Evo2. Good review, man 👍

    Another thing to note is that if you are using these drones for radiometric thermal inspection, only the DJI M2EA exports R-JPEG format which can be used in FLIR Studio to tune and create inspection reports (lots of functionality). The Autel E2640T exports thermal images in TIFF and JPEG format only. You have to use the often buggy and limited capability Autel IR PC Tool to do any thermal tuning.

    To me, DJI geofencing is a dealbreaker for not only a drone in the price range but for a drone of this importance. Just imagine the (permanent) damage to your reputation when you are in the field and cannot perform a job because DJI won't let you fly in controlled airspace!
    Not worth it.

    DJI has the QEP program for public safety to totally unlock your system(s). Yes you have to fill out the paperwork but for,our agency this allowed for over 10 years of unlock.

    A question about the zoom at the Evo 2 640T: are the zoom photos saved as zoomed-in photos or is it like the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced where the zoom photo is saved as a normal wide-angle photo?

    Bottom line: if geofencing is an issue with the Mavic, you might need the Evo as well. That surely punches a hole in the price issue.

    I have an old Autel EVO 2 that came w/ the small controller w/ a screen or attach an IPhone or for me an IPad. Wish Autel would come out w/ a new controller with a big screen like the new EVO. Plus a new longer range time battery for the old EVO.

    I'm so glad that I retired when I did and got into drones as a hobby, but with modern drones. My first drone is the Autel EVO II Pro Enterprise V3 w/6k one inch camera (which blows away the DJI versions in features and price ($3,700 on Amazon). Tried the DJI Classic and it wouldn't track correctly (horrible experience), but returned and refunded (so DJI is dead to me).

    This weekend I flew the Evo 2 Pro Ent V3 in some stronger winds, with longer arms and larger motors you would hope it would perform better then an Evo 2 Pro V1. It did not, it would slow down and drop altitude and even gave me tilt warnings instead of wind warnings. They have not even programmed the FC good for the wind, this is terrible. They need to do a serious update for the FC. I've flown my Evo 2 Pro V1s in powerful winds that wanna knock you over, nothing can take that thing out of the sky, the winds yesterday were not even close to that strong and the Evo 2 Pro Ent V3 sucked badly. It took them till June 6th 2022 before they had the final FW update that gave us dual stability on the Evo 2 Pro V1 also, thats 2 years after the drone was released. So thats how long we might be waiting before they fix things with this one. I'm starting a drone company and I can't even do serious filming with this drone because the dual stability is what got the Evo 2 Pro V1 real close to the Mavic, as far as smooth flying for filming goes. So at this time if I was doing serious filming, I would still actually be using my Evo 2 Pro V1 drone. Autel is focused on making money pushing the Evo Max 4T now and other products and is taking their time with this drone poeple spent 5K of their hard earned money on. And lastly, can we please stop beating around the bush with these useless accessories and make a drop arm like we know that that's what everyone wants. Can someone who knows electronics please rewire one of those useless accessories they give us and make a drop arm. I would be willing to pay handsomly for one.

      Orange color is safer because black or grey drones are sometimes attacking by predator birds.

    If you could make a video, outlining, explaining, the necessary steps, to unlock a DJI Geo Zone, it would be much appreciated. Can't tell you how many times, I've searched for a review of both of these drones and, when it comes to the blessed Geo fencing issues, time and again DJI's unlocking rigmarole is mentioned but, nobody explains what is actually involved.
    It seems as if, DJI's Geo Fencing, is an actual end-all, whereas in actuality, by my understanding (and here is where you come in and clarify things for us neophytes) this is not an impediment but a slow down to a workflow.
    I'd love to own the Autel product, but I don't know if an extra couple thousand bucks ( with the extra accesories) is worth bypassing the Geo Fencing issues of the M2EA.

  • @iainhmunro
    @iainhmunro 2 года назад

    Thanks for comparison. Have DJI fixed the issue with the zoom. I noticed you gave the DJI the point for the zoom capability, but does that transfer to the photo that is saved on the SD Card ?

    Very informative, thank you. The geofencing hoops with my rec drone from DJI is definitely a PITA since I live somewhere that planes may pass over at 2000' in the pattern. (ugh)
    Real question though, as a business, how does one make money from search & rescue? Or are you referring to agency purchases?

  • @shane3478
    @shane3478 3 года назад +1

    Despite the extra cost for live deck it is Leaps and Bounds better than dji's offering. If you want to transmit your data the mobile command center for search-and-rescue, DJI is glad to charge you thousands and thousands of dollars so that you can have that privilege. Add that in with also with the stripped-down version of the type of drone you're getting for the money you're spending, Autel is the clear winner. I have used DJI for the last six years, as well as their previous search and rescue Enterprise drone. And every one of their drones is similar to how Apple builds their iPhone. Their philosophy it's basically you will like what we give you and that's it. Otherwise piss off. After six years of it, I have moved on recently and I'm glad I did. There are some things that I missed, and some things I'm still having to learn. But it's the same as it was when I left apple and went with Android. A learning curve, yes, but worth it

    You make a comment about how the antennas on a controller work better facing down than up. Why does that work better?

    • @AerialInfluence
      @AerialInfluence  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching! Yes, both manufacturers suggest you point the antenna downward as I showed and facing the drone to get the best reception. Not sure of the science or the polarization of the antenna, but that is what the manufacturer suggests and I can attest that you do get longer range.

    If both drone fly 45 mph and the Autel has a longer battery life, which would stay in the air longer and have a longer range because of this? lol, im not sure if im just an idiot but someone clear this up for me and ty in advance.. if my thinking is right then why does the dji win range?

    • @AerialInfluence
      @AerialInfluence  3 года назад +1

      When we talk about range, we are referring to how far the drone can fly from the remote before losing transmission, not how long the drone will stay in the air.
