As usually great review Ken.. Being a not every day flyer I kind of shyed away from that controller being that I have both the 1 and the pro models plus a number of DJI.. so I got the Triptek and it works great. Happy 4th
Hi! Does this smart controller let you do a custom stick layout? I use the DJI controllers and those let me invert the left stick up/down controll in mode 2.
Great info dude but I've got to ask you about how the hell you hand catch your evo 2. I just seem to be fighting with all the time. No one has made a good video about how to do it. Please help... Many thanks Shane
Nice presentation ! I really like the fact that the antennas are removable. That way one can upgrade antennas as desired without having to open up the enclosure. No doubt 4Hawks and Alientech will come up with mounting adapters for their products. I'm anticipating your range test to see how the connection is at a distance and or in a congested wifi area... I don't like the fact that there is no sd card slot....
I suspect screen brightness in the real world is a major reason for the purchase. When u do the full test comparing with a couple of ipads and/or hi end phones would be great.
Like you said tell someone not to do something they'll do the opposite. For me the price is too high unless you're making a living off your drone. That is one nice looing Smart Controller. Looking forward seeing your long range test.
In addition to having a way to store the control sticks, we also need a way to store the controller itself, because it's not going to fit into the rugged bundle case or any other case that is currently designed to hold the EVO 2 Pro or the 8k version. Just my two cents. I'm on the fence. I saw the interview with Randall and his statement about doing a free upgrade down the road if he's still the CEO. I use mine mostly for commercial use, I've got the GPC mount for the tablet and I use a full sized iPad for the screen, with a sun shade hood around it. I'm getting by with what I've got, but we're heading into the summer heat down here in Texas so I'm wondering how well that iPad's going to hold up. That would be something for you to test as well, seeing how well the smart controller holds up in your Florida heat.
2:48 - The controller might have something called eSIM (embedded SIM), which is common for IoT devices. With a subscription to a mobile operator, it would be effortless to access 5G network at any point.
Thanks for the review. I don't like the small controller that comes with the Evo II because the battery life is inadequate and also it's very uncomfortable. This looks ideal. Does the V2 Version of the controller work with the Autel Evo 2 Pro?
Someone really should make a 2000 nit tablet. I like my Tripltek but its still not bright enough for these old eyes of mine. No, I can't get LASIK, I have dry eyes condition.
Great video. I love my controller and will use it in the field all day long. One question, How to you turn the volume up within the app. I was able to turn it up outside the app but still cannot get it very loud.
I'm also very interested in getting the SC volume louder. I have a hearing disability and can't hear it at the factory set volume. Only have it for 3 days, but I may have to return it if I can't find an answer. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Just now seeing your vid and not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but on the underside of the handle there are 2 small threaded holes to screw in the sticks.
You should make a holder for the sticks and the antennas as a whole piece. Make a cover type piece that covers your antennas that flows over to the back side of the controller with the thumb stick slots. Almost like a " L " shaped piece that you can simply pull up and out through your controller stand. Could be an epic design and hope it would work out for yah!!
Ken, I got the SC from you for the simple reason that when I fly I do not have time to do all the phone set up and in my field phone calls trump drones anytime. I have been looking for your settings in the description but could not find them. Can you please tell me where I can find them? This controller is worlds away from the original one and I think it is well worth the money. I fly in bright Florida sunshine and on the boat. Greetings from down the road in Cape Coral and Thanks you for your service to the drone community
I guess its just half inch bigger then my Typhoon Hs &7 inch screen but the brightness makes it look twice as big, its amazing. Anyone that complains about it, other then the price, doesnt know what they have. The people that can afford this will complain that it doesnt fit in their pocket and its way too heavy, Grandma will ya hold this for me and that strap? might as well be a mask that im forced to wear at the store. Yeah, Rich kids will just throw it away the next day. Dear EVO, I will gladly review this and your drone with complete happiness with warm fuzzies you only get from true love :) lol
Don’t forget that Live Deck, at a cost of $450, is included in this. Subtract that from the price and it’s on par with DJI for price. It would be a good option to have it available with or without Live Deck - if that would make it more affordable for those not needing Live Deck.
You don’t need a live deck with the smart controller and the whole purpose of the controller is to off more enhancements than the standard RC. This is a device for professionals not hobbyists
@@OriginaldoBo that’s what I was saying - it has the functionality of live deck ($450 value) built in. $1,200 - $450 = $750 which is close to the value of the DJI smart controller. It would be cool if Autel could also come out with a ‘smart controller Jr’ for a lower price without all the extra capabilities.
Damn that’s huge bro. They should had did the SD card slot unless they are thinking of doing a Apple strategy and sell higher capacity controllers. Can the OS be upgraded to newer Android OS ? It’s just too much for what it is and how new it is. Nice vid. Thank you.
If it is possible, can you please tell me how to increase the volume level on my Autel Smart Controller. When showing a video, I noticed that the sound is very low.
That new smart controller from Autel is very impressive. Except for the oversite on not having a place to store the sticks. Great overview and first impressions, you really went over everything. I own the EVO 2, but because of the price I will probably pass on this controller.
Orange Bob Can tell what plastic printing machine you like use please ? I look on Amazon and hard to decide. Thank You. I thank you review this iPad but think like you say it’s just big fart.
I would like one, but if only 500 were made, I don't think I can one here in Greece when I have the money saved up to get one. The Autel Evo II Pro was expensive for me as it is. Maybe I will get lucky.
The CEO guy in the live stream seemed pretty honest, he seemed to genuinely consider what you had to say. Would you consider that brand for a first camera drone? I fly fpv now but realize there's some probably some real skill to flying camera drones. I really don't want a mini DJI I don't think it can handle wind where I live.
While I understand completely why manufacturers make these choices when using embedded Android, in short, it's a PITA for end users and really limiting. When you have to sideload, hack and generally f#@k with the installed OS, it makes troubleshooting painful, and who wants their drone sitting 300 feet up in the air and a crashed OS? Show of hands? That's what I thought. Beautiful bit of kit though. 👌
@@OriginaldoBo Nice I could tell by how close you were able to get and how long you could pull into the shot. awesome investment. I wish I had a reason to buy that lens.
I hope that DJI matches it or comes out with a new controller that is close. I’m a hobbyist but the built-in screen and convenience matter very much to me. I don’t use Autel products but one thing I noticed there is a 1/4 20 threading on the back, that is awesome. Of course the size of your pocketbook matters for everybody. Thankfully for me that’s not a problem. But I would like DJI to come out with something close to this for the Mavic 2 etc.
I just bought a DJI SC, and... it's probably going back. Actually it's definitely going back, as an exchange (why I use Amazon for this stuff) cause it has at least 4 defects, and my limit is 2, lol. I'll try exactly 1 more. Expectations are... low. Would a V1 Evo 2 Pro and this make sense with Randall gone? Seems like a real crap shoot at present. Sigh.
Add the 2k price to the 2.4k price of the Evo 2 Pro 6K and you have the price of the Mavic 3 with a smart controller. Which is the better buy? ? That is the decision I will have to make. The difference in the geofencing may push me toward the Autel, however so far it has not been an issue where I have flown... so far.
@@zipper978 Thanks for the input, but I went for the M3 as the color and photo quality is fantastic as is the zoom, now more than ever. Autel is interesting, but not quite there yet. I travel, camp and kayak and the M3 will be my 3re DJI and geofencing has not been an issue yet, not even in a couple cities as one can get permission to fly within the rules of regulated areas. I am a happy camper so far.
I would love to see if these smart controllers have any real range? Some say they are good for 8.1 miles or 13 kilometres. I am looking for someone to find out what the ACTUAL range on these are in reality. Any chance of you doing a range test? Thanks...............Dale.
I have got over 2 miles away in very foggy conditions. That was the version 1. Buddy flew the v2 and couldn't get the range I was getting with the v1. I could also go over large hills and around corners in narrow transmission line corridors. Best range I've ever got working transmission lines (with the smart controller)!

Could you guide me on how to include the languages mentioned? Thank you and hug. Amarildo.

So looks like there is a spot to stow the sticks. The location just isn’t apparent like on other controllers. I put a photo on the community tab
What do you prefer E2P or M2P
Thumb sticks can be stored on the opposite side of the harness attachment point, there are holes where they screw into. 😎

I would go with the M3T it’s a lot more future proof
Is it better to just put a large tablet like a 10.9" ipad on the regular controller using the LIFTHOR EVO TABLET MOUNT? It comes out cheaper as well.
Look into tripletek
