Lots of idiots in the comments section here. Many of whom claim Hannah is a fall-guy or patsy and insist Baldwin is the real villain. I am certainly no fan of Alec Baldwin. But I am a firearms instructor and have been one for over 12 years. Hannah was hired because she was (at least believed and purported to be) an expert in firearms handling and literally her sole purpose on the set was to ensure any firearms used on set were safe and unloaded. She was the expert and that's the only reason she was there. The actors are not experts, and she would know that. She is completely responsible for allowing this tragedy to happen. If she simply did her job, no one would have been shot. Period. You can blame Alec all you want because you dislike him. I dislike him too. But Hannah is the person who was specifically hired to prevent this type of tragedy from happening, and she failed at her job. Her conviction is 100% warranted. Stop feeling sorry for her. She took the job and knew what she was supposed to do, but she failed to do it. She's a pathetic failure and now a person is dead because of her.
As a firearm instructor, if you handed someone a gun after you checked to make sure it wasn't loaded, would it be okay for them to point it at you and pull the trigger? I understand on movie sets sometimes they've gotta point the gun at another actor for a scene. That was not the case here. They weren't filming a shot at the time, just discussing the scene. There's also no reason to ever point it at a cinematographer. Alec Baldwin knew this too. He said in an interview a few weeks after that he would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger.
I don't question this because I dislike Alec Baldwin. I don't know the dude, I don't like or dislike him. I'm also showing no sympathy for Hannah, I agree her conviction is 100% warranted. I just don't think Baldwin is blameless given he did something he knew he wasn't supposed to do.
Alec get off your burner lol
@@vshazamHannah was solely responsible for loading the gun and all of the chain of events that followed.
as a firearms instructor what is the first thing you teach your students sir, my guess would be, and correct me if im wrong, but its most likely "dont point a gun at someone", and this wasnt at another actor during filming, and it was also reported that baldwin said, "ill just shoot you both", probably joking, but still, he pointed a gun at someone and pulled the trigger, and he is supposedly someone who is antigun, so why was he playing around with one? it is 100% her fault the gun was loaded, but had baldwin not done what he did, the woman would still be alive, he cannot get off scott free, which is whats going to happen because they will pin the full blame on the armorer, and say baldwin cant be held liable because he trusted that the gun was empty, meanwhile if i handed you a gun and told you it was empty, and you pointed it at someone and shot them, you and me both would be rotting in a cell already
I agree. She should get at least 5 yrs. Imo.
There should be no reason live rounds should be on set.
There’s no reason to let a producer/actor as reckless as Alec Baldwin anywhere near a firearm-especially without training. That’s the situation that this armorer was forced into. Sad!
There are lots of reasons. There are live fire scenes all the time.
how does that absolve Alec of his outrageous behavior?
@@joelayoub2774 They should mandate blanks, eliminate live ammo of any kind.
Totally agree! Even in military training, we used blanks unless in the extremely controlled conditions of the firing range, or in an active war zone. Also, although I realize that this is not feasible for the sake of "acting," one must ALWAYS assume that there's a live round in the chamber, thus never point a firearm at a non-target.
I still cannot wrap my head around WHY, for God's sake, there were live rounds on the set!
This was a movie set. Why was there a live round in the gun? This doesn’t make sense.
It was murder you don't accidentally break the property lease and bring live ammo then accidentally put it on set then accidentally load and aim at someone who is not even an actor, com on.
What's even more stunning about this is that her father is THE top armorer in the business. He actually trained her, so it's pretty shocking that she was so reckless, and it's extremely sad. I think her young age had a lot to do with it. She really should never have been in charge of the weapons on the set, as she had almost no experience being an armorer on set and had only done it on one other movie set. All of this could have been avoided and Heleyna Hutchins would still be alive. There are no winners in this and it's incredibly tragic...
Familiarity breeds contempt.
She took this job thinking it would be an amazing opportunity and the start of a wonderful career and instead it turned into a nightmare
Well sometimes life can be like that.
She didn’t treat it like an amazing opportunity. Seems like she was stoned most of the time and barely paying attention to what she was supposed to be doing
There are a lot of ridiculous comments here from people who have no idea about set protocol. The guilty party has not been charged. The first assistant director is directly responsible for safety on the set. The first assistant director ALLOWED other people to handle firearms on the set which is a direct violation of set safety guidelines. Not only that but if reporting is to be believed , the first assistant director actually handled the gun and gave it to Baldwin. A 1st AD has no business handling any weapon on set UNLESS he is a licensed armorer with all the insurance and bonds that are part of that job requirements.
Can whoever made their reply repost it? Because it appears to have been deleted, but for a fraction of a second it looked like I could see it, and it looked pretty big.
Don't handle firearms while on cocaine.
It's just too risky. You might be convicted of involuntary manslaughter, or you might write Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
What? No one was even accused of that. It was alleged that she gave cocaine that was in her hotel room.
That's quite the allegation. Can you provide evidence that anyone on the set during the incident was under the influence of cocaine? I'm not Baldwin fan, but you're gonna have to back that up if you expect to be taken seriously.
Don jr does
18 months for someone's life.
It was manslaughter, not murder
"Armorer"?🤣 does she even know the difference between a blank and a live round?
Hey, her dad was experienced. For some people, that's enough to be experts..... 🤦♂
I used to work on film sets in the US and Ireland. The Armourer/Weapons Master was always fully responsible for firearms. Period.
I know a lot of gun and military people are saying Baldwin should have checked the weapon. I don't doubt that it's standard practice amongst gun owners...
But we never do. That's the Armorer's job. As Actor's we aren't trusted with weapons! The Armorer gives you a talk on weapon safety. He/she then explains the shot (scene) along with the Director. And only hands you the weapon just before the take. The Armorer watches you like a hawk during the take. And takes the weapon back into charge once the shot is finished.
The same when being squibbed (electric charges with fake blood pouches) when your character is shot. The special effects people were in charge of that and briefed us in detail before the shot. Everyone on the set has a specific role. At least that's how it should be!
I have to say even on low budget productions the Armorer's always knew their stuff. And weren't laid back Kids! I never saw one under thirty. Most were middle aged. They made you very aware that firearms weren't like regular props.
It looks like they hired this daughter of an Armorer on the cheap. I'm hoping her Dad is/was more professional. She doesn't even seem sure who had guns at a given time. Anyway I'm speculating.
But as much as people want to blame Baldwin (some because they don't like the Guy) he did nothing wrong on the day. I know if I opened the gun to check it I would expect to be reprimanded by the Armorer and/or Director. It just isn't our job.
They might be able to use the Producer angle to hold Baldwin responsible in some way. I don't know I'm not a Lawyer. But that depends if he was really involved in producing. Sometimes Stars get a Producer credit. But it's just an honorary title.
I kind feel a little sorry for the Armorer she doesn't come across as someone who should have been given so much responsibility. Running errands would have been a better start for her.
Commenting on this to bump it to the top, because most of the comments are very clearly people with no clue
@@mindblown42069 Thanks. I usually just get abuse. 😂
Thank you for educating us. As someone who enjoys movies, this explains weapons being used in movies quite well 👍
EXACTLY! People are allowing their political bias to drive their ignorance.
This is my take. I agree with everything you said. But the thing is, she clearly wasn’t capable of the job and everyone knew it including production. It was Baldwin’s movie. HE was the producer. Him and others over her. No one should expect her to have this level of knowledge because she is a kid, literally! I still feel like it is production fault for hiring a kid, and ignoring the red flags. I get that everyone wants to blame her. But I just don’t think that her negligence rises to the level of a manslaughter charge. She faces some culpability.
But ultimately, everything that you listed that you are use to armorers doing cannot be expected of her because she is not experienced. PERIOD. Baldwin is responsible NOT because he pulled the trigger, but because it was his movie!
Lock here up
Omg stop talking
Live ammunition should not be in a set, Baldwin should not have fired the gun without instruction, although i don't believe Baldwin would fire at the director or the other person, who's name escapes my mind, Intentionally. If in fact had he not fired that weapon at the point that he did he would have shot an actor in the actual cut of the movie. Its important to know that an armorer is key in gun safety in the set and she should have gone through the steps of gun safety with every one on set not just Alec Baldwin.
Who brings LIVE ammo to a movie set?
Idiots
Someone could of tampered with the gun. Something is fishy about this whole episode. Why did baldwin take the gun and fire at will. Baldwin had the gun before shooting.
Because no one expects a real gun on a movie set where prop guns are used.
I'm thinking some Hollywood exec wanted Halyna dead for some reason, and now they're getting away with it while these two are forced to take the fall.
This doesn't just happen by accident, it's extremely low odds.
Even if someone did tamper with it if she did her job it wouldn’t have happened. There was also literally no evidence that occurred.
@thelibertyprojects.4747 um evidence was “literally” tampered with by Sarah who got an immunity deal lol
@@Tylnorton Everyone knew they were using real guns. No one expected real BULLETS on the movie set. Had the gun been full of blanks the way it had been in previous takes, no one would have been hurt.
Did she not like the lady that was killed?
She had no way of knowing Alex Baldwin would point the gun at Halyna Hutchens. Hutchens wasn't an actor, there was no script that said "Baldwin aims the gun at the cinematographer."
@@vshazamWhat? Of course she knew he would point a gun at her as the scene was him pointing a gun down lens and firing
I absolutely agree with the guilty verdict. I also absolutely believe that Baldwin has some responsibility in this life taking mess and needs to held accountable
Yeah I mean according to law there’s a thing called involuntary manslaughter but it ain’t a life sentence just 1-6 years
Doesn't bode well for Baldwin.Lotta witness's coming into that trial are going to say that they were directed to sidestep safety by Baldwin as well.
BS
Sooo....were you there? ....or did you just pull all that bs outta your azz?
No, A.B.
if this is a movie set then why in the world would there be a need to have real bullets on the set? This is just basic logic and knowledge!!!!
So she's the fall guy so that means Baldwin will walk...I'd bet money on it.
Firearms instructor here. She should be. She's most responsible here. Period.
Money talks. We all know there’s a 2 tier justice system.
She said the gun was safe. It was her responsibility.
@@skyhawk_4526 ignorance of a weapons function (and I HIGHLY doubt that Alec didnt receive this instruction as he was more than likely instructed on how to use the weapon) is not removal of culpability.

That's her mother.

This is why we don't tune into the big broadcasters - the announcers narrate too much. Oh no, an analyst!
I want to hear what's going on in the courtroom and I don't need every silence filled. Ugh!
She had no emotions from incident, to questioning, to trial and verdict.
HG-R seems almost sociopathic in every setting we see her! Looked bored, entitled, & remorseless from on set, to conviction. Please give the max allowed!!!
That’s not true there was some self pity about how she trashed her own career that she shouldn’t have had to begin with.
She looked like she’s on meds
She is just tough
Feel bad for her but as an armorer myself you have to know weapon safety, enforce the safety of handling the weapons, and be 100% certain what type of ammo you have. Not to mention you need to be 100% accountable for the ammo which includes the expended rounds.
As an actor handling weapons you should know weapon safety. She didn't pull the trigger. If I am not mistaken Mr Baldwin has been handling weapons on set for a long time. He should know by now. He pointed.at the victim. He pulled the trigger
He was told the gun was "cold."
I hate to sound like a broken record, but... THESE WERE LIVE ROUNDS, these were not supposed to be anywhere near the production, it is safe to assume that the bullets didn't come out of a shelf labeled "real bullets". How was she supposed to know there was real bullets on set, when it's been 3 years, and we still don't know how there were real bullets.
@@castonyoung7514 as an armorer you need to be able to know the difference between live and blank rounds. It was one of the first things I learned as an armorer and it’s very easy to tell the difference. Safety is important and the weapons should’ve been checked multiple times before being used by the actors.
@@marquitamarina1486 That’s a huge problem. They should have been certain the weapon was cold and anyone handling the weapon needed to be trained before even touching any weapon. That’s negligence and if you accept the responsibility you have to be in control or else this type of thing happens.

Exactly. She looks like a typical social justice warrior crazed mind “me me me me” kid.
Alec should be responsible for hiring her but she is at major fault for what happened there. Alec fired the gun, yes, but am sure he never thought there was live ammo on set.
Why would Alec be responsible for hiring her? She was a claimed EXPERT. She's 100% at fault, end of the story.

Negligence is.
As someone who has been a defendant, I can tell you that she knew the verdict as soon as the jury came in. When they have a guilty verdict, they don't look at you. They mostly just look at the judge. If the verdict is not guilty, then they will make eye contact.
Witch how do you make a mistake like that com on
This looks like a Ryan George video the judge and defendant being acted by the same person.
I agree with people saying their should be no live rounds on sets, but sometimes it sounds better. Take the movie Collateral for example. The alley shooting is from real gun they were shooting off camera and that scene is one of the greatest scenes when it comes to sound design. But I think it can work if it’s done properly and professionally 💯
No live rounds on the set of a movie that's completely stupid
Are they rushing to justice to soon or is there more investigations that could unveil a more sinister plot ?
Spoilt rotten.
Is anyone else not shocked, that she is found guilty before Alec Baldwin? Who fired the gun only 3 years ago..
Politics aside bro cmon. If it was a far right actor you wouldn’t blame him. She is much more guilty, this is her job.
Both are guilty, one the armorer, responsible for the weapon and rounds, the other for NOT checking the gun, following up and pulling the trigger.
She loaded a gun with real bullets, why would she NOT be found guilty?
That comma is superfluous.
This whole thing stinks, theres gotta be a cover up. A single live round doesn't just accidentally get mixed up with dummy rounds. Somebody wanted Halyna dead and I bet whoever that was is getting off the hook, unless it was Hannah who wanted her dead...
Why are they talking over the verdict
I don't like the Baldwins. But if you're the actor and you're handed a prop gun, i would think it was THOROUGHLY CHECKED AND QA'd by this Hannah.
"Should" be able to trust person in charge to be thorough in fulfilling the job, but... always check a deadly weapon yourself to be sure!!
That gal sets there looking on fire, shame
Baldwin was not just "handling" the gun. He fired the gun!
They shoot blanks on the set. Of course he fired the gun.
He was told it wasn't loaded.
He didn't even realize he pulled the trigger though.
The strange part of this case is that Sara wasn't charged at all although she was the assistant armorer and she even threw bullets away after the shooting.
WHAT?!
Only 18 months? For a life?
She was convicted of manslaughter, not murder.
Manslaughter means there was recklessness but not intent
@@RB01.10 all I said was 18 months seems a little short for someone’s life. I know she didn’t take anyone’s life, but due to her negligence an accident happened that could’ve been prevented if she would’ve acted like an adult while at work. I mean she even was posting pictures holding the two guns crisscross in a photo by her head. The irony
She should not be jailed at all.
It was accidental.
No malice aforethought, and no reasonable risk to herself and/or others if released unconditionally.
P.S. Hannah has an interesting reaction or lack thereof, to the verdict .
What's crazy to me is why would you bring a case of live rounds to a live shooting scene? I've worked with producers and directors and we mark everything in large extremely specific underlined and italicized print with different color coding for everything on set and specifically per scene
Can't here what the judge is saying
I cannot wait to see Baldwin's trial. I bet he skates free or gets a much lighter sentence. Money rules.
Umm yes, she is at major fault for this. Not doing her job caused someone to lose their life
when i first heard about the case, i was on her side. it seemed like she was just getting picked as the scapegoat. but i changed my mind after watching the trial.
Help me understand something, why would there ever be a real loaded gun on a film set? Is it intentional for authe ticity?
Even if a gun is believed to be loaded with blanks, it doesn’t make sense to me that an actor would point it at anyone other than the scene’s target.
It seems ridiculous to me that prop guns aren't chambered in a special round that isn't found in real guns.
@@sdafasdfasdfsda
The thing is, despite this shooting the procedures to keep live rounds from being loaded into a gun on a movie set have been incredibly successful. It's been almost 20 years since someone has been shot on a Hollywood film set. So I get why they weren't spending money to make special replicas and special rounds to fix something that wasn't even a problem. Especially when every single year there's several deaths and life altering injuries (like amputations, critical brain damage, paralysis) from other types of accidents.
Well I hope Alec gets the same, but I'm sure he won't.
He was paid to be an actor, he didn't need to be checking on other people work.

No matter what else happened on the set, the bottom line is they did not call in Hannah when they were preparing to SHOOT, when ALEX pointed the gun and pulled the trigger. Hannah may have done something different, had she been given the opportunity to be present, but she was not. So to be she is NOT guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. There is doubt there. This is the point her attorney failed to make.
Bye hannah.
Why would guns on a movie set even be capable of shooting live rounds ???? Always thought they used prop guns and ammo ? Is rhis common practice?
Both she and Alec Baldwin bear the blame for what happened on that set.
She behaved like an irresponsible child with her drug use, and her lack of care when handling weapons extended ro previous dilms she worked on. She also should never have agreed to take on additional prop duties.
Baldwin cut corners on safety by requiring her to also be prop master. He has enough experience to know that such a situation is DANGEROUS.
Broken news... CBS announced this 45 minutes ago. So, this is not “live”. The gun did NOT “just go off”. Someone pressed the trigger, after pointing it at someone else, and it was not the armorer.

Ali Bowen was a producer on that show and the gun didn’t go off in his hand and he pulled the trigger. He’s ultimate responsible because he hired her.
Thank God she was found guilty, I can’t believe the max range is only 18 months!
Also, she literally had zero emotion the entire trial, up to and including the reading of the verdict! I guess that was her “father” in the back, Thell Reed. I wonder if that was her mother sitting right behind her. She started crying and you could see her kind of throwing a little fit as she was leaving the courtroom.
Some people say this is good news for Alec Baldwin. I hope not! 🤞🏾 I think they’re both at fault! He’s part of production and shouldn’t have hired her with as little experience as she seemed to have! He even said there was another guy they were interested in, but he was too expensive! 🤷🏽♀️ I bet they would gladly pay that price now!
The State’s expert witness who was an Armorer and an ex police officer was am amazing witness and really showed how inexperienced Hannah was. I'm guessing somebody wanted Halyna dead, and snuck a live round into the dummies. They basically had two separate people assist with a murder without even realizing it until after the fact. Somebody who probably is much more rich and powerful than Alec or Hannah.
The odds of this happening by accident are ridiculously low.
