I just can't understand why there was live ammo on the set in the first place. Talk about irresponsible!
Live ammos used in scenes were no people are actually being shot at. So a scene of say bullets hitting the ground or a building will use live ammo.
That was mentioned by several experts when it first happened. Completely irresponsible to have live ammo NEAR a set. Supposedly some of them would do some plinking after hours!

You can’t tell me Baldwin being the producer and actor wasn’t on set long hours and unaware that they were shooting those guns with live ammo. He’s just as responsible if not more than she is.
the person holding the weapon is always the most responsible. gun safety 101
What kind of producer was he? Lots of people get producer credit, and usually only a few are hands-on. Others get credit for putting up money or being a big name actor. I honestly don't know which kind of producer he is.
Producer, co writer and main actor. I’m sure he was oblivious. Geez.
You fail to understand the chain of command on any film or theatre location where any legally controlled weapons are being used, whether they are tanks, handguns, crossbows, flick knives or pikes. The ARMOURER has TOTAL responsibility for the managament and control of everything that happens whilst the weapons are out of his/her SECURE armoury location. Furthermore, the armourer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that those using the arms are sufficiently familiar with their operation that they can use them with an acceptable level of safety. LIke it or not, THE BUCK STOPS TOTALLY WITH THE ARMOURER. End of.
When your armourer hands you a weapon, and tells you it’s a COLD GUN, that means they checked it personally.
This ISN’T a gun range scenario where you only point where you intend to shoot.

She was too concerned about her tic toc.
I'm not trying to diminish her responsibility in this, but she was a young person with very little experience put into a position she should have never been in. She was a legacy hire, and all the Hollywood creeps involved in that production would have had no hesitation in taking advantage of her weaknesses. She's been held accountable for her part. I'm interested in seeing how well the others are held accountable for theirs. I'll have my doubts until I see otherwise.
She should never had that job. Ever.
Yes and Alec Baldwin and the director decided to skip her advice. She didn't hand him the gun, the director did. She never cleared that gun to be used in that situation. Yet they used it anyways and Alec Baldwin was a producer.
@@rudyschwab7709 that said is trying to diminish her responsibility 🤡
She was set up for failure from the beginning. She lacked experience and this was her first job as an armorer. She was put in that position because she was cheap and wasn't hired through the acting union. Bottom line, she wasn't qualified. The entire production was done on a tiny budget and a dozen or more people walked off the set due to poor/unsafe working conditions and being put in the cheapest motel possible. This failure was of Alec Baldwin's own making.

Why did live ammo make it to the set ?
No one knows. The question is unanswered.
Apparently she had a history of firing live guns on set.
Good question !
Using live guns on a movie set with live ammo? Seriously? We should be locked up !
@@jacobfromallstate4963 Various crew members (who should be identified) recreationally "plinked," fired real bullets into tin cans. Is it plausible that coproducer Baldwin was unaware of this dangerous practice?
I didn’t follow the armors entire trial but why in the hell were live rounds on the set to begin with? That’s insane!
We'll never know because the investigation was botched, and the Prosecutor handed out sweet plea deals to the really guilty people. Many people were responsible for that death, and none of them will face trial.
Anyone that is handed a gun no matter if the person handing it to you says it’s clear you should ALWAYS check for yourself. Go to any firearm class and that is one of the first things the instructor will tell you.
Not on a movie set. There is a protocol for this - for good reason. The ARMOROR is responsible for the gun. After handing an actor (could be Keanu Reeves or Alec Baldwin or Opie Taylor) a safe firearm, if that actor opens the cylinder (on a revolver) - the armoror should stop the scene and take the gun back and re-check it. NOBODY is allowed to open the gun other than the armoror.
NOBODY is supposed to be near the camera or behind the camera if the scene calls for an actor to point a gun in the direction of the camera.
EVERYBODY on set is supposed to insist that the armoror show everybody that the gun is safe. (not just the actor it is being handed to)
@danbarrette9888, That Baldwin's an actor entitled to rely on the professionalism of the crew to each do their job is exactly the opinion I had. A person who goes to a gun class with the expectation of learning & using a real, loaded firearm is an entirely different situation than a actor on a movie set playing a part with props. I do think, however, that the party or parties who brought live ammunition on the set should be held liable for that.
@@mariesmith8454 then don’t use real guns on the set after all everything in movies is fake. Because I must be a little bit more intelligent than some even if I was an actor someone hands me a real gun I check it. All of two seconds everyone lives.
I will see you on that the Alec Baldwin the actor was following well-established protocol. As far as Alec Baldwin the producer, that’s a different story. There were ongoing issues with many aspects of safety, and it’s well known that he was rushing people around and even putting the armorer under a lot of pressure, not that that excuses her, but it definitely doesn’t stop with her.
Movie guns are not supposed to be real guns. Everyone knows that Rule #1 of handling a gun is to never point the barrel at anyone that you do not intend to shoot, but how bad would action movies look if none of the characters could ever point guns at each other? The responsibility for this is squarely in the hands of the armorer and whoever brough that gun onto set.
How on earth do you allow live ammunition on a set? Prop guns do not fire live rounds.
For the front view imagery they were filming, it IS necessary for the revolver to be fully functional.
Most do fire live ammo
Prop doesn't mean fake. Fully functional firearms are also props. The use of the item defines what it is called. In this case, the prop gun was also fully functional.
Prop guns ARE real guns. It's the ammo. Live rounds, rounds with a plastic plug(bullet), and the blank.
He has no idea what he's talking about. Your right.
nope if you have a gun in your hands its your responsibility to check. The military shoots thousands of rounds blanks and live ammo. Its always the responsibility of the shooter to check.
Tht makes no sense. Armorer is there so blame doesnt fall on an actor. The actor cant check because then the armorer wouldnt be last person to check
That's not how it works on film sets. Actors have no training to do that and they are not supposed to do it.
When you're trained to handle live weapons that's correct. When you have zero training, like an actor, you have a person like her 100% in charge of the weapons...no excuses, that's exactly what they're paid for.
Wrong, stop talking about things you don’t understand.
Lol and the moment blanks are replaced with ammo, they won't just shrug it off, they'd come for the armorer.
These reporters clearly didn’t watch the trial. She’s guilty because she didn’t do the safety checks that would have detected the live rounds. Alec’s trial may be less about him as an actor and more of his role as a producer.
There shouldn't have been live ammo anywhere near the whole area.
Only one person is suppose to check for weapon safety. That was this woman.
No wild man. She checks. And Alec was supposed to check.
I clear a handgun then give it to you. Your job also is to check it is clear
Sad and unfortunate all the round
Baldwin needs to be convicted next. And no, not for shooting her. But for his responsibility as Producer in hiring this woman, and for allowing a dangerous set environment (this was said by many of the cast members/crew).
nope hes guilty of homicide- he pointed a gun at someone without confirming it was a prop gun or had blanks

Yes,she bears some responsibility, but so does Alec Baldwin. A tragic, accidental death.
Prop guns shouldn't have space to put bullets in.
Why? An item that is a movie property (prop) can be fully functional. For some movie scenes, prop guns have to fire blanks so, they need to be able to accept functional ammunition.
They fire blanks from real guns.
We're talking about a real gun, not a prop.
There is no reason a prop gun should be able to chamber live round
They weren't using a prop gun.

@@JudgeJulieLit I'm saying in general, everyone should undergo a drug test. It was indicated she gave the witness something to hold looks like white powder substance.
There should have never been ANY live rounds of ammunition on that set and it was her responsibility to make sure that there wasn't. Alec should have NEVER had his finger placed on that trigger. I don't care what he says, his finger was on the trigger, and that weapon should have been holstered and not pointing the barrel at anyone. You never point a gun at a person because you have to always assume that weapon is hot. Anyone who handles a gun should know that.
She didn't pull the trigger..... Alex did. Get it right folks. Now was there a motive behind this. Why would she put live ammunition in that gun. That was no mistake.
As the armorer her duty is to check the pistol and make sure it is clear. Alec is held to the same standard.
I want to know who she was texting about the drugs. Who was she drinking and doing drugs with? My suspicion is that this totally inept person was not hired for her armorer skills and that was the biggest contributing factor that led to this death.
Her lack of remorse or accountability sealed the deal for me.
Earlier on the day of the shooting there were union workers who stormed off the set talking about how safety was going to go down without them, and one of them was the armorer. It's not a mystery to me how live rounds got on set.
So that day of the fatal shooting of the cinematographer was the now convicted armorer girl's first day on the set? A newbie, intimidated into taking orders from her elder experienced bosses?
