Not really. He conflates two very important terms. "Bullet" and "round:. I am an older, armorer with 50 years experience. Even given the restraints of precious limited minutes of TV TIME, you MUST educate the viewer because 99.999% of "the great unwashed" use and say incorrect firearm terms. ie bullet vs a round of ammo.....and clip vs magazine. It would have taken 20 seconds to hold up a round of ammo and explain why it should NEVER be called a "bullet". A bullet is ONLY the projectile. A bullet mated with a brass cartridge case, gunpowder and a primer is a ROUND of AMMO. A round is also referred to as a cartridge. But never, ever a "bullet" The loops on a gun belt are AMMO loops, not BULLET loops. Just some VERY lazy vocabulary that any armorer I know would never fuck up. I would have said this: Cartridge: A unit of ammunition, made up of a cartridge case, primer, powder, and bullet. Also called a "round", or “load”. Sometimes incorrectly called a “bullet”. Cartridge case: The container for all the other components that comprise a cartridge. Sometimes incorrectly called a shell, shell casing, brass, or a hull. www.tncourts.gov/sites/default/files/docs/firearmshandout_1.pdf Another KEY TERM terms ALWAYS fucked up by Hollyweird, The Media and the Great Unwashed: Misfire. A MISFIRE is a FAILURE to fire a bullet out the muzzle of a gun. A malfunctioned cartridge that fails to discharge at all (dud), doesn't discharge promptly (hang fire), or only partially discharges (squib load) when being shot from a firearm. TERMS MATTER!!!!!!!! He managed to really fuck up the terminology. I would never hire this imprecise man.

Actually a pretty awful interview trying to excuse Alec Baldwin by not pushing the correct safety narrative that EVERYONE in the chain of custody of the firearm is OBLIGATED to physically and visually verify the state of the firearm. The fact the Baldwin is on record as refusing any kind of training due to his hate of the 2A and NRA only adds to his criminal culpability of criminal homicide and reckless endangerment.

I was in the Air-Force back in the eaelry 90's during Desert Storm. When I received my first gun training they taught us that. NEVER point a weapon at anything you dont intend to kill, even if its empty. If you just checking a gun out admiring it always point the barrel down to the ground. Ive been over family member's houses or friend's houses where they just purchased a gun and they showing it and passing it around to other people to check out and the people have the barrel pointed at someone while they looking it over. I immediatly get in their asses for that. :(

Having worked in theater for years, I've been stunned to hear about Crew members taking the guns out to target shoot when they're bored. We would never let anyone (actors, crew, anyone) play with props.
Firearms used for the purposes of film making, aren't toys. They should be treated like company property and never leave the security of the armorer when not being used to film. The guy they interviewed likely has this mentality, and is why he's never had an accident like this happen. I don't understand how people can be this careless with tools designed to kill human beings. Yes target practice is fun, but if you're using them for a particular job oriented purpose, they should only be used for that purpose. Its like stealing your employer's time to play video games in the background on company equipment while you're at the office. It should be treated in the same way.
@@JosephArata : Absolutely. Highly unprofessional behaviour. Baldwin is a producer and might find himself personally liable if it’s established that he knew what people were doing with these guns? I can understand the temptation of hobbyists, wanting to fire authentic classic weapons, but like you say, there’s this thing called, “professionalism,” which is why you don’t allow it. But I have to laugh when so many people are suffering from the Dunning Kruger Effect, writing, “I never fire a weapon without checking what’s in the gun personally. If I was in Baldwin’s place, I would have checked the gun myself.” To which I say, “NO YOU WOULDN’T!” Because if you did, you’ve just screwed the take and the armorer now has to take back the gun and reset it for safety and use in the scene! That’s literally her job! It’s tragic and probably a whole series of things that went wrong, as the case so often is with tragedies. But it does come down to her in the end, as she was hired to ensure the guns were used safely and she signed a piece of paper that gave her soul responsibility. I don’t want anyone to go to jail over this unless they truly deserve to, like if she totally ignored safety, got drunk or just played with the weapons all day? Therefore it cannot be fired." & here is a blank. It has a primer so it can make a pop & produce a plume of smoke but it has no projectile so it can't cause a bullet wound.

Alec Baldwin pointed a gun at a person and pulled the trigger. That's it. No way I would ever believe that the gun is safe even if 70 people before me checked it. I sure as hell would do it myself. And I wouldnt point it at people. This is stupid. Blanks can hurt others. Guns are just not pointed at people period. Baldwin had no reason to do it. So he is guilty for sure. Others? Maybe.
100% Baldwin's fault. No matter how many failings occurred prior to Alec Baldwin accepting possession of the gun, he did not personally check the weapon. That alone would have saved a life. It's the actor's life that get's ruined by having to live with an accident. You'd think they would demand better from the people supporting them. Especially if they were also a producer.
I think this is exactly what we're looking at here. It's just so beyond unprofessional that I still can't really comprehend it. I'll check my firearms 10 times before I even hand one to a trusted (military background) friend of mine, and for the record I HAVE cleared a live round before while checking a gun to hand to a friend, which was a major oh-shit moment. Then again, we were just handling them, all of us STILL knew to never point them or pull the trigger at/near anything you're not willing to destroy - this is why those CORE firearms safety rules work together - there are so many levels of 'not doing stupid shit'. This incident should literally be impossible. Forget all of this talk about the armorer (who was an unprofessional idiot) but Mr. Balwdin was ultimately in control of that firearm, and ultimately pulled the trigger. You absolutely check and clear every gun you handle, ESPECIALLY when you're pulling the trigger, and holy $hit, you're also pointing it directly at them? For a guy who portrays CIA agents and cowboys, I wouldn't trust him with a f'ing BB gun. HE is the one who should be going to jail, but obviously won't be.

did still somewhat feel like they were spinning the angle that someone just loaded a live round thinking it was a dummy, but then who would load a dummy round besides the actors on camera? be interesting if there was a shot on camera come out that literally show a round being loaded in another scene by Alec that had a live primer and a bullet present
It's a good explanation of how safety measures "should" be implemented, but did NOT explain why a live round was in the gun, or, why a live round was on set to begin with, and in the correct caliber to fit the prop gun. Very suspicious.
The only reason I could think of is if they want a really high resolution slow-mo shot of a bullet hitting something, but that's not what they were doing on the Rust set.

I've been on film sets where rules and protocols were being broken by cocky DAs, directors and producers. They talked down to everyone on the crew and threw their position around - never with weapons but with equipment and vehicles.
This is the problem. Armorer and Prop master is suppose to be outside of those chain of command. If they say that this is unsafe, no one is to question them. The problem is the armorer is too green and didn't know where her authority begins and ends. SHe should of stopped filming all together, because of all the violations.
One of the questions I'd like to see answered is how much power/authority did Baldwin have on the set. Was he the "final say" since I read that he wrote, directed, and produced the movie?
Live ammo was either murder, sabotage or criminal negligence on the part of Alec, director, assistant director and the armorer. However, the armored was not on set and therefore cannot be held accountable for the chain of custody of the weapon. Live rounds on the set fall on the producer.
Uh no. The armorer was def on set buddy. Dont know what world you live in. She said before lunch she loaded blanks. On set doesnt have to be if youre on location when they resume lunch break. Her job is armorer is to ensure weapon safety. Just becos she load live rounds then look a break doesnt mean her job is done and whatever happen while she is on break is not her fault. Are you dense???
No you are wrong. I have no use for Alec Baldwin, but he was not responsible for ensuring weapons safety on the supposedly "cold" set. Anyone that handles weapons knows he SHOULD HAVE checked the gun, but he wasn't REQUIRED to do so anymore than expecting the actors to check the harness cabling for a high building action scene or checking the cars before a high-speed chase. Literally 10's of thousands of scenes have been filmed where the actor points the blank firing gun at the camera or another actor and fires. Are we to believe ALL the actors and extras were expected to check the guns for live rounds? No, they weren't. The armorer allowed live rounds on and near the "cold" set. Unless Baldwin knew about it and did noting to sanitize the set, he has no responsibility.
There's def something different about NewsNation pieces. Things don't feel as rushed and surfacey. They deliver more knowledge and understanding. Also Bryan here was a boss, I learned a lot.

You can see the evidence from the Floyd riots where every single news station in the country came up with the idea that the riots were "mostly peaceful" almost has though they were told to say that from by single source. There is suppose to be a free press but every single news station in the country thinks these riots are peaceful while there is buildings up in flames? Obviously someone told them to say that. Who? The CIA.
NewsNation is trying to fill the gap left behind after every major news network decided to go hard left or right. If you look at a media bias chart, NewsNation is the only TV network that's down the middle. This is actual hard news. Because America is not exactly the brightest country, the other networks figured out that you could get higher ratings by having opinion hosts spoon feed their "news" to the viewers with a filtered and distorted tilt that simply reinforces their already held beliefs, rather than real information that educates and challenges.
I'm not going into the CIA conspiracy stuff, suffice it to say this news/video segment was probably one of the best all round pieces of news work I've seen in years...and for this subject it was very informative. This is what "news" should be.
@@TheTheo58 Still doesn't explain how she allowed non cleared firearms to be on set. I read she prepped them for the scene and left them on a cart outside the set. That is totally the wrong way to do things, but for the sake of argument, guns loaded with appropriate blanks, NOT bullets, left on the cart for the AD. IF that is what happened girl would still be alive. If she thinks she 'forgot' to clear check re-check then load with blanks, that is a huge problem. Unattended guns sitting a cart, while she is off doing other duties is a huge security risk. This is negligence beyond comprehension, or there is more to this 'accident'
Wrong. This is what happens when you put social justice warriors in charge. You wanna put a 24 year old female with no experience in a position of safety like this, people die.
Based on how set protocols the main culprit would be the armourer, then in a lesser degree the AD and finally the producer. So Alec Baldwin was not responsible as the shooter but as the producer. That is why armourers are there in the forst place.
@henry the armorer said she loaded 5 blanks and had hard time loading last round. You might wanna check the rounds BEFORE you load it. She should not have been "professional" armorer if she didnt know the :#@!$ she is doing. What a ditsy.
It doesn't help with people using incorrect terminology for cartridges. A cartridge is not a bullet and a bullet is not a cartridge. It's fine for cartoons and children to describe cartridges as bullets, but that's about it. Well it's Hollyweird, that's why live ammo was on set. When I do active shooter training I utilize .38 blanks. I verify all ammunition is in fact blanks. Then I have another instructor verify that all ammunition is blank ammunition. Then I have a member of the class that has experience with firearms verify that all ammunition is blank ammunition. The pistol used is zip tied through the barrel and cylinder, and the hammer is zip tied forward. When those are it is done cylinder first and the same verification process is followed as the ammunition three people verify the cylinder is empty, the barrel is free from obstructions. When they are cut it stays with me as does the ammunition. NO more than one box is out at a time. Gun safety isn't difficult it's common sense
Something to consider is that an "Army General" isn't someone whose job it is to make sure firearms are safely handled, stored and used. Also, an Army General would only, hopefully, be giving firearms to military professionals who have already been heavily trained in the use of firearms. If, as a civilian who has no firearm training, I was handed a firearm by an "Army General", I'd have far more trust in his ability to tell whether a firearm is safe to handle than if I had to rely on my own judgement. At least I'd hope that an "Army General" would know more about firearms than your average civilian.

I read that this is supposed to be the case on movie sets, too. The AD handed the gun to Baldwin. He should never have touched it. The armorer inspects, hands it to the actor who performs the same inspection.
@@chesterwilberforce9832 Yep, the major difference here is that in the military (I was air force, so im using more general terms 🤣) everyone around you has had those protocols and regulations hammered into their heads even if they're not the armorer or the one receiving the weapon or ammo, so if someone is enough of an idiot to cut corners they would be quickly corrected and reprimanded. This isn't the case on movie sets. I'd be willing to bet very few people on set know anything about guns, let alone safety protocols and regulations for weapons. And even if they did they might not be confident enough in their knowledge to correct them. However I know Baldwin has been on plenty of movie sets with firearms, him and probably a few others should have known better, extreme negligence here.
There was an Armorer Mentor on the set also, Seth Kenney, who recommended Hannah Guitierrez Reed as the armorer, they also had a prop master, Sarah Zachry, who locked the guns after prepped by Hannah G. Reed, for the lunch break. And Hannah wasn’t allowed on the set, thus the 1st AD Halls said he went and got a gun from the steel table outside and stated he only checked 3 vs all 6 bullet chambers. @@JD-Defenders I haven’t heard Halls interrogation, but what an idiot he is!! Technically a “cold gun” has no type of bullets in it, so many armorers say (of bigger budget movies, TV shows, etc). He was pointing at the camera, please think about it. She was at, behind the camera. He was performing and being filmed. Why is this so hard for people to understand?
Alec obviously never opened the gun to see what it was loaded with. He is responsible. All gun owners know that you don't just assume a gun is empty or loaded with blanks. You are responsible for making sure if you are the one handling the gun.
@@selecttravelvacations7472 you are not suppose to aim at a general direction of a person, and he had no reason even to have a gun. This was a rehearsal. This was very well presented and explained in a way that FINALLY makes sense! I was confused by the difference between "blanks" and "dummy rounds" for a very long time!
Bespoke short chamber lengths are needed to prevent a full length live round being chambered in a dedicated blank firing only revolver. To load dummy rounds, a 2nd inert revolver should be used, with no firing pin.
From my professional experience for a number of years on the set, this explanation is the best description of the how firearms/ prop guns are handled on the set and who is responsible. The safety precautions explained here are the reason why of the 10's of thousands of movies and TV with guns, that there haven't been such mishaps. This guy is 100% right on. By far the best explanation. The armorers that I have worked with are VERY careful and professional when they handle any kind of gun on the set. There are multiple safeguards to protect. A lot went wrong on Rust to have happen, what did.
They allow a prop gun to be loaded with live ammo. They allow a negligent armorer to load blanks and hand it to the AD Hall. They allow the AD to yell "cold gun". We know thats a lie and someone died. 3 people didnt check the gun. Do we need more explanations? Why are people arguing who should be the person hemmed up? Start arresting the armorer and ask questions. She will squeal loud and proud and throw everyone under the bus. She should be in jail first. Rest of "rust" crew can receive civil lawsuits. Criminal is the "professional" dimwit. The AD that say "cold gun" is also guilty of negligence. Alec Baldwin should be last but ofc not least. Everyone on that set that ever held the .45 colt for target practice should also be investigated.
There is something deeper and more sinister going on here........after Brandon lees death in *the crow* there should not even be dummy rounds on a film set -- use CGI......there's more to this .....nobody can be that negligent.....
The first and biggest thing that went wrong is they hired a person who was still a child in her mind and actions, and she even made the statement in her Police interrogation "I want to be there as little as possible" when she was talking about being at work. That is not what someone who is into their career says or acts like. They want to take the time to make sure everything is right and safe. They want to do their job to the best of their abilities because they take pride in their work. That level of caring and dedication does not come for free. But will save you a lot in the end which they are about to find out.
Hmm, more like someone that relays how it should be done. Hindsight is 20/20. Bryan says that we only works with a small number of company for low budget movies. But what does he do when you as an armorer don't get the time or means to perform you job in a correct matter? You walk away from a paying job risking a bad reference (you are as good as you're latest project) or do you make the most of it? If you're doing a job long enough without incidents it's easy to become overconfident and think you can handle it anyway. Probably the same reason why should thought she could perform two roles (prop master and armorer). Everybody knows you shouldn't drive while drunk. When somebody does that anyways it is not hard to find an 'expert' to day you shouldn't drive drunk. To further back that claim, the media outlet do a poll on their website and in the coverage claim that 98% of the Americans day it is stupid to drive while intoxicated. Yet, we have hundreds of DUI every weekend... So theory is one, reality is a whole other beast!
Its a shame that Brian Carpenter was not hired for this movie! This tragedy would have Never occured if this guy had been on set working as the armourer on the movie rust!
Something tells me he likely wouldn't have remained on set for too long either, exactly BECAUSE he's a professional. Cutting corners was experienced across the board.
I heard different . THat the actual prop master left. I'm not too concern if the Armorer was inexperienced, if there was a good Prop master to mentor her. People need to start somewhere. But it's ridiculous, if she was asked to do both jobs, when this is her second time doing this. But as Armorer, she should of walked off with everyone, when the rest of the film crew refuse to follow basic safety protocols. The fact that she was not on set while the gun was being used, is a violation in itself.
Excellent example of a thoughtful and professional interview. It is the best explanation I have seen relative to the tragic event on the set of Rust. Well done. Wish there were more like this out there on the issues of today.
Apparently the live rounds that were present on set were not manufactured. They were actually blanks from a manufacturer who only makes blanks and not live rounds. This means someone loaded the blanks with powder and projectiles. The armorer on set did not recognize the difference because they looked like the other blanks with only little difference apparently. Either she did it or new about it (either way she was not doing her job that day). Or someone else purposely and maliciously intended to hurt someone. I got this info from the interview the cops did with the armorer. This is crazy, but I believe Alec, even tho he definitely pulled the trigger (lied to save face) I don't think he knew. Because he did not load the gun. He would not have known if there was any live rounds in it or not or at what time.
Agree, this expert basically vindicated Baldwin. Yes he pulled the trigger but how would he know it had live rounds. The parties responsible is the armorer and cheap producers.
Concerned armourers wrote it well, it should be added that overworking caused deaths. Not only by weapons but also living conditions, stress, etc. Hollywood or whoever payed for this movie ruined at least 4-5 lives because some people think they are not rich enough. I'm surprised people continue to watch their movies as they are getting more stupid than ever.
This guy is great. He is direct, correct and articulate. I’m glad he brought up the issue of the industry trying to maximize profits by cutting corners, but I don’t agree with him that COVID-19 protocols are the reason. It shouldn’t be one or the other. Using inexperienced or non union labour and asking them to do double duty in a position that is dangerous and requires a lot of focus is always the problem. The film industry will continue to need to adapt to change but more sacrifices in wages needs to come from the top not the bottom.
COVID-19 protocols meant that there were testing fees and salary for the people performing the testing. That increased costs and they skimped in other areas.
@0809justine I agree, except that he didn't lay the blame solely on COVID-19 protocols, he said those protocols just made this issue worse. Right before he mentioned COVID, he talked about how corners were already being cut, saying "this has been going on for quite some time, there's been a lot of industry push back recently because of that; if you think corners may have been cut in areas before COVID, you should see it now." Meaning, again, the issue was already there, but COVID is making it worse & is also highlighting the issues.
He didn't say that Covid protocols were the problem he just pointed out that they cost money that the company was trying to claw back by penny pinching in other areas.
Thank you Brian. A word of caution on the dummy round. Having shot and reloaded ammo quite a bit, I noticed many times that a live round could have it's primer struck and not fire, but when struck again it would fire. Therefore a struck primer was not a reliable visible indication of a dummy round. So for dummy rounds I ended up drilling a large hole in the side of the case so as to provide a more positive indication of it being a dummy round. If anyone does practice with dummy rounds, like for loading a magazine, I suggest doing this in addition to your other safety measures.
Drilling a large hole in the case defeats the visual purpose of a dummy round in the first place. Why not just de-prime the case--much less obvious on camera.
You can see a light strike on the primer though. As shown in the video, the dimple put into a dummy is much deeper than any pin strike. I drill cases as well when making proofs but, as mentioned, that doesn't work on camera.
Since you are not an industry pop master I’m not sure why you’re trying to reinvent the wheel. They put BBs inside the round so there’s an audible indication. Apparently this method has worked on thousands of movies. You forget that sometimes the audience sees the bullet. And a big hole in them would ruin the illusion.
One of the safety rules is that the actor should never point the gun at someone, but yet it was pointed at Hutchins. Even if unintentional or accidental or a misfire, I suspect Baldwin is still legally liable for that.
Don’t understand how hard you the s could be. A a hospital nurse we are required to del with life and deaths issues with several patients for 12 hours using meds which could cause death if given incorrectly.
Right, good point. The difference is that in the movie business there are lots of stupid and dangerous people. Like Baldwin who points a gun at a woman’s head and pulls the trigger...
Greed, arrogance . Again was, there issues btwn Alec and either of the two who were shot. Sorry greed is a god in Hollyweird, safety does not matter to the lizzards who make the most. Another interview they said that a couple of the people who are supposed to be watching the guns or couple people who are working on the set actually took the guns off to do live ammunition target practice so they obviously left a bullet in one of them
But even then she should have checked and fully unloaded the guns. That's her job! The person that called cold gun didn't check either and that was his job!
@@leahwilson56 It sounds like a safety check was done between AD Halls and the armourer. It is possible that they did not properly check the gun OR that the live round was loaded after that safety check. It really has to be one or the other.
There was a container of dummy rounds that "somehow" ended up with real bullets in it (we know the armorer was letting people target shoot, but we don't *know* that's where the fatal round came from). Baldwin's gun was loaded with 4 inert dummy rounds and two real bullets. Depending on how realistic the dummy rounds were it's possible that "only" the armorer would have been able to tell them apart (assuming she WOULD be able to tell them apart). The armorer didn't respect gun safety, and therefore nobody else on set respected gun safety. A malevolent actor (not necessarily a literal actor per se) *could* have taken advantage of the situation to stage an "accident"
@@Saint_Sigismund AD Halls said that the pre-scene safety check consisted of the armourer opening the loading gate and rolling the cylinder for his inspection. Therefore it is reasonable to believe that the dummy rounds were identified by a spent primer, as is typical. It would be difficult to overlook live rounds in this process.
@@Sherman62 In that case, the two people responsible for the state of the ammunition in the firearm, missed that two live rounds were inserted in the drum. Which is extreme negligence on their part and the producers that hired them for a job they were not qualified to perform.
Low pay and overworked does not answer the question as to WHY was there live ammunition on the set? Be wary every employee always thinks that they are low paid and over worked, this is nothing new. It does not matter what you pay them employees will always want more. You pay what the market demands. I happen to know many actors and they are paid fairly. The problem is that the work is not steady yet they want one movie or production to pay them as if they were working the full year.

WedidLandONtheMOON Back in the old days of Hollywood that would be true. They were usually made not to fire but put in scenes as window dressing. Not trying to be critical, just trying to get real facts. I can understand the "fun" of doing such a thing, but I think we all can see the absolute danger of doing such a thing considering the fact that people there on the set will be pointing guns at other people, pulling the trigger with resulting gunpowder explosions (from blanks). As I've said before in other comments here, considering the nature of the use of firearms, the only live rounds on the movie set should be on the persons of trained and licensed security and/or police officers. In fact, if the actors and crew had their own personal firearms locked in the trunks of their cars, that wouldn't be such an issue either...maybe.

But never, ever a "bullet"
The loops on a gun belt are AMMO loops, not BULLET loops. Just some VERY lazy vocabulary that any armorer I know would never fuck up.
I would have said this:
Cartridge: A unit of ammunition, made up of a cartridge case, primer, powder, and bullet. Also called a "round", or “load”. Sometimes incorrectly called a “bullet”.
Cartridge case: The container for all the other components that comprise a cartridge. Sometimes incorrectly called a shell, shell casing, brass, or a hull.
www.tncourts.gov/sites/default/files/docs/firearmshandout_1.pdf
Another KEY TERM terms ALWAYS fucked up by Hollyweird, The Media and the Great Unwashed: Misfire.

2) Trumpist Decree: VANQUISH, DESTROY anyone at all who is liberal or Dem. Shut them down? Never enough. Leader prescribes: Completely Destroy by any means & tactics
3) Track news religiously for any potential opportunity you can exploit to OWN THE LIBS and destroy.
4) Alec Baldwin, gun, kill = a perfect oppty to tribally gang up and dispense your un-American brand of justice.
5) The normal brain-functioning thing to do is: let Law Enforcement gather all evidence, interviews, etc. Jurisdiction's District Attorney's office analyzes evidence and brings charges against people who meet the probable-cause test. Arrest, Arraignment, Trial by Jury, Verdict.
6) You QAnon Trump Cultists have long ago rejected Rule of Law, replacing it with "ignore all facts or evidence, judge by instant cock-sure aggression, threaten violence, destruction, terrorism, coordinate media drama, pounce to kill".
7) These are extreme Anti-American values, and you and your ilk have no interest, desire, intent in maintaining our Union
8) Do us all a favor and carry it out- Secede from the Union, go form your Trumplandia Nation within the states of your liking, run it the way you want including rioting, brandishing weapons, shooting at will, dumb-ass anti-vaxx rules prevail, country-bumpkin music, and leave the f-ing rest of us alone. We will have borders, armed entry points, and anyone who affiliates with Trumplandia will be refused entry back into the United States again.

THAT is true and the root of the safety issue on Rust.
But, she doesn’t come across like that?
Unless we’re looking at an episode Columbo where someone deliberately switched the bullet, hoping to murder someone, it’s all on her.

Therefore it cannot be fired."
& here is a blank.

So the detective answered that in trial. It was a rumor, but she found no evidence to support it.
It's pretty outrageous that a movie production can pay a single actor $20 million, but they can't pay $100k/year for an additional props manager. The industry desperately needs a complete wage overhaul. Actors don't work any harder than many others on set, they shouldn't be paid exponentially higher salaries.
Actors get the general publics bums on seats.
@@krusher74 maybe, but without those that do the “behind the scenes” there wouldn’t be movies for seats to fill. So maybe it’s time actors get paid a little less so the work gets done accurately and properly.
People will be more likely to watch a movie if they're actors/directors they know and like. They're not gonna care who a props manager is, and likewise a props manager is not likely to care if the movie is any good or not.
Well said exactly! Why does an actor get 20 million give it to a heart surgeon instead who has a real job👍🏼

@Jon Smyth. I think I learned that at about 8 too as it’s so ingrained into me. I wouldn’t feel comfortable just taking a gun and shooting it unless I’d loaded it myself and it was an emergency.

Excellent guest!
Are you dense???
h n a clue for you, piss and spit down wind if you don't want to look stupid.
You do realize well they say there is members of the CIA working at every news station, but I think the CIA just keeps tabs on them. So it's really just one organization.

I don't see how any of the three - Alec, the AD, or Hannah, should get off without responsibility for what happened.
Based on how set protocols the main culprit would be the armourer, then in a lesser degree the AD and finally the producer. So Alec Baldwin was not responsible as the shooter but as the producer. That is why armourers are there in the forst place.

Thank you Bryan for clearly stating the facts about this process.
Finally....a real expert who knows what he's doing. Veterans Rock!

Ahh, the myth that union labor is somehow better. Often, it's worse.
He didn't say that Covid protocols were the problem he just pointed out that they cost money that the company was trying to claw back by penny pinching in other areas.
@@jshepard152 How do you know it was union labour and not just a bunch of scabs working there?
The armorer clearly stated that shaking the dummy round and ensuring its not filled w/ gunpowder was the best way to tell the difference
And a big hole in them would ruin the illusion.
hahaha that would be to much good info for the media and leftist
Also sorry to say Alec Baldwin is a very nasty, controlling, pompous and entitled. There is more to this story than has come to light. Was someone out to damage the production if so who would the players be. Look into Alec he is a bad person. Amunition is not easy to get thanks to Obama buying it up for his Mao wanna be aspirations.
@@autumninvirginia1229 You are truly an idiot. Listening to people like you is actually painful; painful because I'm embarrassed for you and your woeful lack of intelligence. The last sentence was truly a work of art! Now explain to us how the earth is really flat and the moon landing was actually done on a soundstage.
@@hotjazzbaby He didn't point it at her head and shoot, jackass. Get your facts straight. You just heard how many checks and balances there are supposed to be on a responsibly run movie set. This man even does sweeps of the sets because most of the stupidity comes from people from the outside; not the actors and crew. If that were not the case, you'd hear about this constantly.
The whole movie set appears to me a hot mess
It was low budget $7 million dollars and had 17 days to complete filming.
Like you would know what is a mess is or not. HA HA HA
Contrary to what the media might say, the word "prop" actually means property of the studio. The "prop" gun Alec used to kill the lady and injure the director is a real gun loaded with live ammo.
A real gun should not be a prop. Even so the gun should not be pointed at anyone for ANY reason.
@@nicholassmith479 Prop guns are actual real guns but they are modified to only accept blanks. Meaning live ammo will not fit into the cylinder of a revolver or feed into the barrel of a handgun. Blanks will only fit in a prop gun. Baldwin was given a real gun with live ammo, BUT WHY
WedidLandONtheMOON Back in the old days of Hollywood that would be true. They were usually made not to fire but put in scenes as window dressing. Nowadays it is authenticity to use real weapons and blank cartridges. My problem is WHY is the crew using late 19th Century style weapons to shoot bottles and cans on their lunch breaks? Not to mention revolvers that could get mixed up with "Props"
@@nicholassmith479 Yeah good question.. Why were they allowed to go and shoot guns with real ammo.. Someone fucked up big time. And it is likely one of those guns got introduced with the prop guns.. Or was it intentional.
@@nicholassmith479 Quick question: Is that true about them "shooting bottles and cans during lunch breaks" or is that just something you heard?
Damn. Mr. Carpenter is a super-professional sounding subject matter expert.
Excellent sharing, Bryan Carpenter
I watched a deposition of the "armorer" on the Rust set. She talked like a Moon Unit Zappa valley girl. There were two accidental discharges in one day on the set before the person was shot and killed. She didn't have control over firearms on the set and nobody there took her seriously.
