The original 1911 with the standard sights were not designed for precise distance shooting. It was intended to be an effective close quarters combat, point and shoot, weapon you could rely on to stop an enemy combatant.
Keep in mind that the standard 1911 was built around firing the 230 grain full metal jacket .45 ACP round that John M. Browning develoiped. The 1911 and the 230 gr. FMJ ..45 ACP are designed to work together as a system and uses a controlled round feed mechanism. It's intended to run with that ammo specifically, and different ammo types are not guaranteed to run as reliably without making certain modifications which can involve the magazine as well as the barrel throat and ramp.
Same goes for every firearm, barrel twist also is specific to bullet grain and the charge behind it. That's why we must train with and try different ammunition and run what works reliably. Great video. Just bought the sub compact.

Just run FMJ. No problem worries, will leave a half inch size hole. Don’t have to worry about hollow point not opening or feeding. Cheaper to shoot.Liberal DA won’t use ammo against you in court. hollow point is illegal in New Jersey. Think about it ball ammo .45 does almost what 9mm hollow will do , so why don’t you avoid possible problems , save some money, and have more ammo ? Just keep ball ammo for it. jMB designed it that way anyway.
Yeah. I agree. 230gr ball is fine and less issue in a 1911 than hollows. Every 1911 I’ve had has been finicky with HP ammunition, so I have always used ball for those.
The original 1911 was not designed for hollopoint ammo but new manufacturers can remedy that by tweaking the feed ramp.....have a Khar 1911 that loves hollopoint....no problem shooting them....exact replica to the WW2 1911 in all forms, they even left the ejection port alone......except its a series 80.....has the safety mechanism....I have nothing against FMJ except that in an urban setting.....it may exit the bad guy, and enter an innocent guy.....hollow points midigate that problem....
1. Get good magazines. 2. Clean weapon well. 3. Deburring and polishing a feed ramp is very simple. 4. And yes, a break in period is always advisable...
Mine could definitely use an improved foresight! But, all things considered, it's a far more reliable personal defense gun than my Ruger .380 Security pistol with its 50% feed failure rate.
My Tisas 1911A1 has had no problems with 230 grain, 200 grain, and 180 grain semi wad cutters all cast bullets akso 200 grain Berry plates bullets. Feed the gun what it likes and have a harmonious ending.
Love my Tisas 1911 so much I bought a second one ! I replaced the plastic grips with Tisas factory walnut grips available on their website. $20. What a steal for walnut grips! Shipping was fast too! Great company to deal with.
My Tisas came with both sets of grips in the box. I know the plastic ones are supposed to be representative of the 1911A1 grips but I put the wood ones on, too. I love this handgun. I've got several much more expensive 1911s but this is rapidly becoming my favorite.
Tisas is the only 1911 manufacturer that I know of that is also licensed to make the Ed Brown Bobtail cut on some of their models. That leads me to believe that they may be making the frames and slides for Ed Brown as well. Do yourself a favor, buy a Tisas and rebuild it with a 15 dollar Wilson Combat spring rebuild kit. You won't regret it.

First thing, you don't need to use hollow points, I have Metro, RIAs , and Tisas and they were all stock G.I., but after dressing them up they all shoot like high end pistols, very accurate...
Considering Ed Brown has long been an OEM manufacturer for other custom 1911 companies, there is zero chance Tisas is making anything for Ed Brown Products.
About the hollow point misfeeds. Tisas does not make the magazines they include with their 1911s. They buy them from the aftermarket and package them with their firearms. Some are made by Checkmate, some are Mec-Gar, and some aren't visibly branded. Needless to say, Tisas buys mags to meet a price point that keeps the final retail price of the firearm kit very low compared to others. In my experience, the Mec-Gars are the least reliable with ammo other than FMJ military ball. The Checkmates are better, but in my experience, the Tisas pistols run best with Chip McCormick mags. Their feed lips are more resilient, and they hold the top round at a slightly steeper angle, preventing hollow point and flat-nose rounds from diving into the feed ramp. Tisas 1911 are fabulously good guns for the price, so it shouldn't hurt too badly to buy a couple premium magazines to get the most out of your small cash investment.
Got one a few years back for about $350. It's not the "Army" one, which hadn't come out yet, and it has the "A2" setup. It is one solid and reliable shooter, and is my first foray into the 1911 world, despite my having been a shooting enthusiast since 1986. An all-steel 1911 that shoots and shoots for $350? What's not to love?
Ive owned a few of the budget 1911’s. The best budget one ive had so far was a rock island. The ones ive had that were more of this military style that had problems feeding different types of ammo were usually fixed with a little polishing on the feed ramp and the top of the chamber. Its a whole lot cheaper than running a ton of rounds to break it in and it cycles better anyway. Good video. Im a big fan of helping people find reliable budget firearms to protect themselves and their families, without having to think they have to try and rely on a hipoint.

I inherited my 1911 from my grandfather who used his in WW1. I have tried everything from 185 hollow point to 250 grain cast lead. It fed everything. I don’t shot it much because it is close to 100 years old but I am going to buy one of the Tisis 1911’s because I love this gun. If the Tisis is as accurate as my old original it can still put holes in the middle of a silhouette at 15 yards.

My Tisas US Army model needed a 650 round break in before it ran 100% reliability. Now I’ve got 2,000 rounds through it and I haven’t had a single malfunction in the last 1,350 rounds. All of the malfunctions that I had in the first 650 rounds were failure to feed the last round. It’s also important to note that I’ve only shot 230 grain hardball through this weapon.

@@n721sw I’ve learned to just shoot and carry FMJ ball in my 1911s. I’ve never had any luck with hollow points. The 1911 was designed to shoot 230 grain hardball. The ammo is cheaper and these weapons are extremely reliable when maintained as long as you stick with round nose FMJ. I really do enjoy your content. You are genuine, down to earth and I respect your service as an LEO.

Love my Tisas. It really was everything I wanted out of it. Put on some old grips from a Remington rand and it looks too proper. Not a single issue with the Wilson mags I bought they’re amazing. The factory mags had very minor trouble on the final round to cycle, but still worked somewhat decent. Incredible gun for the price, up the mags though.
Like you the only issue I had was with one of the two mags. I knew that mag was defective though since it’s an 8 rounder that would only load 7, so something was off. Last round failure to feed. 4 out of the last 150 rounds that happened, so it’s not a constant problem and only on that one mag. Definitely replace mags. I’m personally thinking about dropping a Wilson combat bullet proof extractor in also. Otherwise, the Tisas Duty has surpassed my expectations. Rekindled my love for 1911s. Don’t regret getting one at all.
Love your enthusiasm. I’ve got 2 of those Tisas .45’s. Loveshooting them! I load my own so can afford to shoot. I pick up lead from the berm when I can and make my own powder coat bullets too. Even picked up a couple of 9mm’s and really enjoy shooting both the .45 acp and 9mm. 1911’s are just plain fun.
People will blame either the weapon or the ammo when they have a malfunction. In the case of this pistol based on the us army during ww2, this pistol was designed for ball ammo, if you use hollow points, wad cutter and so on, there will be malfunctions. This pistol is modeled after a pistol of ww2 and you must use that ammo of that error, anything else may or may not work as good, it's like having a electric device that's calling for 9v, but you use 12v to operate it, it may work but not efficiently. If this weapon calls for ball ammo, then use ball ammo, cause other types of ammo will be a question mark, and I'm sure the ball ammo of ww2 have laid a lot of enemy soldiers to rest.

Dont hesitate, the prices are creeping up. I have 2 Tisas 45 cal and they perform flawlessly. I have one 9mm Tisas and it had a bad extractor. I replaced it with a Wilson Combat. Zero failures after hundreds of rounds.
Tisas is a Turkish company so it’s pronounced Tee-sahs. (Not dogging you, just trying to be helpful.) In my experience, GI-pattern 1911s are inconsistent with hollow points. Most of them can find a brand/design they feed consistently, but some of them won’t. This isn’t surprising since hollow points weren’t even a consideration when the 1911 was designed. There’s probably some hollow point it will feed, and even if there isn’t, .45 ACP ball is a highly effective round. I’d rather have one with better sights and a modern feed ramp, but I wouldn’t feel screwed if someone handed me this and 100 rounds of ball ammo when SHTF.

I’ve got the same model and it’s actually fairly combat accurate, especially for those period correct sights. For hollowpoints, pick a 230g with a bullet whose profile more closely resembles that of ball ammo. Hyrda Shok does that, for instance. Enjoy the Tisas. The Tanker and Raider are also great pistols from Tisas. The Carry model is another. BTW that suppressor at about the 10:40 mark was really impressive. Silenced everything. 😂
Try Bulldog ammo....I don't think it's made anymore....but you can still find it at gunshows.....it is an all silver colored round and is jacketed....in a way....does not have a hollow cavity....but has a gell like compound inside....that mushrooms on impact....turning it into an ashtray.....but it feeds like a FMJ.....that's what I use in my tanker and my Turkish Hi Power P1....
I put surplus US GI grips on my Tisas. The same grips you have on your Remington Rand. 1,700 rounds through it, last malfunction was at about 600 rounds. I never tried hollow points in mine though.
Looks just like my Springfield Armory 1911 A1 that I got back in 1990 for $365. It ran 230gr FMJ all day, could should lead bullets to save its life. After fiddling with the ramp and loads I finally got it working ok.
Good review overall. These pistols are getting great reviews across the board, especially at the price point. My only negative and it’s pretty minor, take a listen yourself at how often you say “guys”. I will probably purchase one of these, I have a couple of 1911’s an Sig officer size, and a Colt, I sincerely love the 1911 platform.
My Tisas zig m1911 didn't like hollow points until a shot about 200 rounds of ball now it shoots it just fine. I haven't tried hollow points in my us army 1911a1 yet.

I have the same Tisas M1911A1 .45ACP. The ONLY ammo I have had issue with was 1776 brand composite bullet. I had 5 of 50 rounds BREAK while feeding and jam the broken bullet in the chamber. JUST because I can, I mirror polished the feed ramp and chamfered it to provide a smoother edge. That 1776 ammo? I hand loaded them one at a time to finish it off. It is a companion piece for my CMP acquired service grade 1943 Remington Rand with a Colt National Match Hard Slide and barrel from a USAF Marksmanship contract. It is an excellent piece of military history. I enjoy that Tisas as much as the vintage 1911. MSgt USAF ret '73-'95. I served as Security Policeman, Armorer. Flight Operations and

In 1924, a few modifications to the M1911 were in place to make it the M1911A1. One of those changes was an arched mainspring housing, which your pistol has. I prefer an arched mainspring housing to the flat mainspring housing, as it feels better in my hand. I apologize if I am being persnickety.
That’s why I have a Glock 21 that will eat both FMJ and hollow points. In my 1911 I only shoot FMJ most of the time even tho it does run hollow points well in my Tisas duty B45 model but until I run since more ammo through it I stick to FMJ because that caliber at 230 grains is a stopper anyway.
let me be clear...that pistol will shoot anything and everything BUT make sure you buy good magazines for it...Wilson Combat mags is what I run mine with...boy, sweet shooter !
A company called EGW makes a high shelf mag release that seats the mag about .020 higher and it lets the round land higher on the feed ramp and that cured my hollow point problems.
The big reason to run hollow points is to prevent over penetration We are responsible for every round fired. In urban or suburban settings, that's something to be concerned about. My old Auto Ordannce 1911A1 runs HPs well after it was polished up. My SIG 1911 ran them right out of the box.
I had a officer model I wore it out the best gun in the world believe me its the best. 26 year navy vet sends this. Try trx incepter it wont jam.Better than hollow points.
I have read that hollow point ammo in .45 often doesn’t penetrate deep enough if it expands because of the low velocity and large diameter. The combat record of the FMJ ammunition is pretty awesome or we would not still be buying these.
Great video my friend, mine just went back for warranty work nothing but failures right of the box very disappointing mine is the 9mm duty, plus customer service sucks it take almost a month of emails back and forth before they send me the label to send them the gun, hopefully they fixed,nex time I save my money and buy something from a better manufacturer with better customer service.

It looked like the slide stop engaged on both of those malfunctions? Either the plunger and spring need replacing or you might be bumping it up under the heavier recoil. Just a thought. I like your vids. Subbed I love LOVE good .45 1911s. I EDC an Ed Brown Kobra Carry and shoot Defensive Pistol Competitions with a Wilson Combat. But I've been thinking about getting a Tisas for a beater/truck gun. Depression IS a real thing. And taking things one day at a time and looking for the positive really does work. I've got 3 Tisas, a Rock Island, and a Springfield 1911. I've been fortunate to have no failures with any of them, regardless of the ammo I put through them. Yes, I do shoot a lot of 230 FMJ out of them at the range, I put 1000+ rounds through any pistol I may choose to carry. I also shoot at least 3 boxes of whatever hollow point carry ammo I want to use. I keep my guns meticulously clean, and properly lubricated, and they've always worked without fail. I'm shopping for another Tisas.
I've heard and seen iffy performance out of the sierra jhp in 9mm. I'm running 124g nukes jhp by unlimited ammo in my 9s and I shoot liberty defense 90g jhp 40 sw. My absolute favorite ammo it's $2 a round though so I don't shoot it. It's carry ammo only.
Good stuff man, just make sure to put at least a couple of mags through it with the new HP, I know, it's expensive, but definitely worth it to make sure it runs.
I have a Tisas 1911A1 that I improve with a GI replacement slide. I replaced the hammer, AMH, thumb safety ans slide stop with parts that are more WWII in appearance. I had my gunsmith refinish it to look more like the WWII finish. What I ended up with is a more period correct WWII 1911A1 than what Tisas began with. Auto Ordinance makes a 1911A1 that's close but its a series 80 aks has a lowered ejection port. Unless you wanna blow your wad on a Colt original or reissue 1911A1 buy a Tisas and do what I did.
First one of these Tisas's I have seen that malfunctioned. That being said the 1911 was not designed to shoot hollow points however After beveling and polishing the ramp and throat all of my 1911's they will shoot anything. If you shoot a bunch of ball ammo then switch to hollow point make SURE the ramp is not lead fouled before doing so on a factory stock 1911. I don't own or carry anything but 1911's, I even have one that is 100 +- years old and all the numbers match on it, even the main spring housing is numbered...
I'll bet your thumb safety is a little mushy. That one jam you had on the hollow point, did not look like a feed jam. It looked as though your slide stop popped up, and locked the slide back. This is due to a weak plunger spring. Change out your plunger spring for a Wolf. This will tighten up your thumb safety and also stop your slide stop from popping up on a partial mag.

I run hollow points in mine and it eats everything i put in it .but i don't use the factory mags i have a bunch of chip and Wilson mags so thats what i use.im about 3k rounds in and never a malfunction in my 9 or 10mm .my 45 is an older Springfield trp .so i didn't see a reason to buy another 45
The Tisas guns are superior, not using any cast metal parts ("Metal injection molded" or MIM) and instead use machined steel parts, which were made from bar stock or forgings, and which are hardened before machining, making them more dimensionally accurate and consistent.
It appeared to me that the jam accord on the fifth bullet both times. Curious if you did this test more if it would always be on the 5th bullet. Maybe just coincidence.

I got a Taurus 1911 in 45acp. I paid $500 for this thing. This thing spits out EVERYTHING without issue. Different brands of ball. Different brands of hollow points. It hasn't had one issue. Heck, all my Glocks have had more issues. My Sigs have had issues. Even my Rugers. But not this guy. Its mind boggling. Anyway...Jesus Christ is Lord regardless if you believe it or not. @n721sw You also half to Polish the slide face where the cartridge slides up into the ejector there is a lot of drag there. Most people forget this very important spot when they ease up the action. I'm speaking of the face where the firing Pin the Protutes.

Howdy, I do most of my pistol videos at 20 feet, I try and keep it standard, so I can go back and compare different pistols, and at that particular place, I don’t have a lot of room.
Maybe it would be helpful to do a bit of research and find out how to correctly pronounce, more or less, the name of the gun manufacturer. It is really not so hard and adds to the reviewer and the review credibility.

Think about it ball ammo .45 does almost what 9mm hollow will do , so why don’t you avoid possible problems , save some money, and have more ammo ? Just keep ball ammo for it. jMB designed it that way anyway.

Every 1911 I’ve had has been finicky with HP ammunition, so I have always used ball for those.
The original 1911 was not designed for hollopoint ammo but new manufacturers can remedy that by tweaking the feed ramp.....have a Khar 1911 that loves hollopoint....no problem shooting them....exact replica to the WW2 1911 in all forms, they even left the ejection port alone......except its a series 80.....has the safety mechanism....I have nothing against FMJ except that in an urban setting.....it may exit the bad guy, and enter an innocent guy.....hollow points midigate that problem....

My Tisas 1911A1 has had no problems with 230 grain, 200 grain, and 180 grain semi wad cutters all cast bullets akso 200 grain Berry plates bullets.
Feed the gun what it likes and have a harmonious ending.
Love my Tisas 1911 so much I bought a second one ! I replaced the plastic grips with Tisas factory walnut grips available on their website. $20. What a steal for walnut grips! Shipping was fast too! Great company to deal with.
My Tisas came with both sets of grips in the box. I know the plastic ones are supposed to be representative of the 1911A1 grips but I put the wood ones on, too. I love this handgun. I've got several much more expensive 1911s but this is rapidly becoming my favorite.

Tisas is the only 1911 manufacturer that I know of that is also licensed to make the Ed Brown Bobtail cut on some of their models. That leads me to believe that they may be making the frames and slides for Ed Brown as well. Do yourself a favor, buy a Tisas and rebuild it with a 15 dollar Wilson Combat spring rebuild kit. You won't regret it.

First thing, you don't need to use hollow points, I have Metro, RIAs , and Tisas and they were all stock G.I., but after dressing them up they all shoot like high end pistols, very accurate...
Considering Ed Brown has long been an OEM manufacturer for other custom 1911 companies, there is zero chance Tisas is making anything for Ed Brown Products.

About the hollow point misfeeds. Tisas does not make the magazines they include with their 1911s. They buy them from the aftermarket and package them with their firearms. Some are made by Checkmate, some are Mec-Gar, and some aren't visibly branded. Needless to say, Tisas buys mags to meet a price point that keeps the final retail price of the firearm kit very low compared to others. In my experience, the Mec-Gars are the least reliable with ammo other than FMJ military ball. The Checkmates are better, but in my experience, the Tisas pistols run best with Chip McCormick mags. Their feed lips are more resilient, and they hold the top round at a slightly steeper angle, preventing hollow point and flat-nose rounds from diving into the feed ramp. Tisas 1911 are fabulously good guns for the price, so it shouldn't hurt too badly to buy a couple premium magazines to get the most out of your small cash investment.

Got one a few years back for about $350. It's not the "Army" one, which hadn't come out yet, and it has the "A2" setup. It is one solid and reliable shooter, and is my first foray into the 1911 world, despite my having been a shooting enthusiast since 1986.

There's a later version of this gun out. It has an original sized ejector port, no mag well bevel, and no markings on the slide. You MUST have one!

Ive owned a few of the budget 1911’s. The best budget one ive had so far was a rock island. The ones ive had that were more of this military style that had problems feeding different types of ammo were usually fixed with a little polishing on the feed ramp and the top of the chamber. Its a whole lot cheaper than running a ton of rounds to break it in and it cycles better anyway.

I inherited my 1911 from my grandfather who used his in WW1. I have tried everything from 185 hollow point to 250 grain cast lead. It fed everything. I don’t shot it much because it is close to 100 years old but I am going to buy one of the Tisis 1911’s because I love this gun. If the Tisis is as accurate as my old original it can still put holes in the middle of a silhouette at 15 yards.

My Tisas US Army model needed a 650 round break in before it ran 100% reliability. Now I’ve got 2,000 rounds through it and I haven’t had a single malfunction in the last 1,350 rounds. All of the malfunctions that I had in the first 650 rounds were failure to feed the last round. It’s also important to note that I’ve only shot 230 grain hardball through this weapon.

@@n721sw I’ve learned to just shoot and carry FMJ ball in my 1911s. I’ve never had any luck with hollow points. The 1911 was designed to shoot 230 grain hardball. The ammo is cheaper and these weapons are extremely reliable when maintained as long as you stick with round nose FMJ. I really do enjoy your content. You are genuine, down to earth and I respect your service as an LEO.

Love my Tisas. It really was everything I wanted out of it. Put on some old grips from a Remington rand and it looks too proper. Not a single issue with the Wilson mags I bought they’re amazing. The factory mags had very minor trouble on the final round to cycle, but still worked somewhat decent. Incredible gun for the price, up the mags though.
Like you the only issue I had was with one of the two mags. I knew that mag was defective though since it’s an 8 rounder that would only load 7, so something was off. Last round failure to feed. 4 out of the last 150 rounds that happened, so it’s not a constant problem and only on that one mag. Definitely replace mags. I’m personally thinking about dropping a Wilson combat bullet proof extractor in also. Otherwise, the Tisas Duty has surpassed my expectations. Rekindled my love for 1911s. Don’t regret getting one at all.
Love your enthusiasm. I’ve got 2 of those Tisas .45’s. Loveshooting them! I load my own so can afford to shoot. I pick up lead from the berm when I can and make my own powder coat bullets too. Even picked up a couple of 9mm’s and really enjoy shooting both the .45 acp and 9mm. 1911’s are just plain fun.

People will blame either the weapon or the ammo when they have a malfunction. In the case of this pistol based on the us army during ww2, this pistol was designed for ball ammo, if you use hollow points, wad cutter and so on, there will be malfunctions. This pistol is modeled after a pistol of ww2 and you must use that ammo of that error, anything else may or may not work as good, it's like having a electric device that's calling for 9v, but you use 12v to operate it, it may work but not efficiently. If this weapon calls for ball ammo, then use ball ammo, cause other types of ammo will be a question mark, and I'm sure the ball ammo of ww2 have laid a lot of enemy soldiers to rest.

Dont hesitate, the prices are creeping up. I have 2 Tisas 45 cal and they perform flawlessly. I have one 9mm Tisas and it had a bad extractor. I replaced it with a Wilson Combat. Zero failures after hundreds of rounds.
Remember 1911 pistols aren't designed for hollow points..ball ammo is what it's made for.
Absolutely correct, I carry the 230 FMJ ball ammo for self defense. That round makes a big hole and it will do the job, if needed.
Tisas is a Turkish company so it’s pronounced Tee-sahs. (Not dogging you, just trying to be helpful.)
In my experience, GI-pattern 1911s are inconsistent with hollow points. Most of them can find a brand/design they feed consistently, but some of them won’t. This isn’t surprising since hollow points weren’t even a consideration when the 1911 was designed. There’s probably some hollow point it will feed, and even if there isn’t, .45 ACP ball is a highly effective round. I’d rather have one with better sights and a modern feed ramp, but I wouldn’t feel screwed if someone handed me this and 100 rounds of ball ammo when SHTF.

The overall length of the Sierra .45 185gr ammo is too short to run reliably in most 1911's unless you use Wilson 47D mags. Thats been my experience.

There is a safety recall on these pistols. Sometimes the hammer follows the slide home without a trigger pull.

I’ve got the same model and it’s actually fairly combat accurate, especially for those period correct sights. For hollowpoints, pick a 230g with a bullet whose profile more closely resembles that of ball ammo. Hyrda Shok does that, for instance.
Enjoy the Tisas. The Tanker and Raider are also great pistols from Tisas. The Carry model is another.
BTW that suppressor at about the 10:40 mark was really impressive. Silenced everything. 😂

Try Bulldog ammo....I don't think it's made anymore....but you can still find it at gunshows.....it is an all silver colored round and is jacketed....in a way....does not have a hollow cavity....but has a gell like compound inside....that mushrooms on impact....turning it into an ashtray.....but it feeds like a FMJ.....that's what I use in my tanker and my Turkish Hi Power P1....

I put surplus US GI grips on my Tisas. The same grips you have on your Remington Rand. 1,700 rounds through it, last malfunction was at about 600 rounds. I never tried hollow points in mine though.

Looks just like my Springfield Armory 1911 A1 that I got back in 1990 for $365. It ran 230gr FMJ all day, could should lead bullets to save its life. After fiddling with the ramp and loads I finally got it working ok.

Good review overall. These pistols are getting great reviews across the board, especially at the price point. My only negative and it’s pretty minor, take a listen yourself at how often you say “guys”. I will probably purchase one of these, I have a couple of 1911’s an Sig officer size, and a Colt, I sincerely love the 1911 platform.

My Tisas zig m1911 didn't like hollow points until a shot about 200 rounds of ball now it shoots it just fine. I haven't tried hollow points in my us army 1911a1 yet.

I have the same Tisas M1911A1 .45ACP. The ONLY ammo I have had issue with was 1776 brand composite bullet. I had 5 of 50 rounds BREAK while feeding and jam the broken bullet in the chamber. JUST because I can, I mirror polished the feed ramp and chamfered it to provide a smoother edge. That 1776 ammo? I hand loaded them one at a time to finish it off.
It is a companion piece for my CMP acquired service grade 1943 Remington Rand with a Colt National Match Hard Slide and barrel from a USAF Marksmanship contract. It is an excellent piece of military history. I enjoy that Tisas as much as the vintage 1911. MSgt USAF ret '73-'95. I served as Security Policeman, Armorer. Flight Operations and

In 1924, a few modifications to the M1911 were in place to make it the M1911A1. One of those changes was an arched mainspring housing, which your pistol has. I prefer an arched mainspring housing to the flat mainspring housing, as it feels better in my hand. I apologize if I am being persnickety.

That’s why I have a Glock 21 that will eat both FMJ and hollow points. In my 1911 I only shoot FMJ most of the time even tho it does run hollow points well in my Tisas duty B45 model but until I run since more ammo through it I stick to FMJ because that caliber at 230 grains is a stopper anyway.
Mine came with two mags recently, and I think a newer version forged hammer ! Incredible buy and pistol .

A company called EGW makes a high shelf mag release that seats the mag about .020 higher and it lets the round land higher on the feed ramp and that cured my hollow point problems.

The big reason to run hollow points is to prevent over penetration We are responsible for every round fired. In urban or suburban settings, that's something to be concerned about. My old Auto Ordannce 1911A1 runs HPs well after it was polished up. My SIG 1911 ran them right out of the box.

I have read that hollow point ammo in .45 often doesn’t penetrate deep enough if it expands because of the low velocity and large diameter. The combat record of the FMJ ammunition is pretty awesome or we would not still be buying these.

Most 45 HP ammo penetrates to the FBI criteria of 12 to 18 inches in gelatin tests. Over penetration is more of a concern with ball ammo.
Great video my friend, mine just went back for warranty work nothing but failures right of the box very disappointing mine is the 9mm duty, plus customer service sucks it take almost a month of emails back and forth before they send me the label to send them the gun, hopefully they fixed,nex time I save my money and buy something from a better manufacturer with better customer service.

It looked like the slide stop engaged on both of those malfunctions? Either the plunger and spring need replacing or you might be bumping it up under the heavier recoil. Just a thought.

I love LOVE good .45 1911s. I EDC an Ed Brown Kobra Carry and shoot Defensive Pistol Competitions with a Wilson Combat. But I've been thinking about getting a Tisas for a beater/truck gun.

I found that with the Tisas, get good mags to use instead of the factory mags. It runs considerably better than the factory ones.

I've got 3 Tisas, a Rock Island, and a Springfield 1911. I've been fortunate to have no failures with any of them, regardless of the ammo I put through them. Yes, I do shoot a lot of 230 FMJ out of them at the range, I put 1000+ rounds through any pistol I may choose to carry. I also shoot at least 3 boxes of whatever hollow point carry ammo I want to use. I keep my guns meticulously clean, and properly lubricated, and they've always worked without fail. I'm shopping for another Tisas.

I've heard and seen iffy performance out of the sierra jhp in 9mm. I'm running 124g nukes jhp by unlimited ammo in my 9s and I shoot liberty defense 90g jhp 40 sw. My absolute favorite ammo it's $2 a round though so I don't shoot it. It's carry ammo only.
Good stuff man, just make sure to put at least a couple of mags through it with the new HP, I know, it's expensive, but definitely worth it to make sure it runs.
I have a Tisas 1911A1 that I improve with a GI replacement slide. I replaced the hammer, AMH, thumb safety ans slide stop with parts that are more WWII in appearance.
I had my gunsmith refinish it to look more like the WWII finish.
What I ended up with is a more period correct WWII 1911A1 than what Tisas began with.
Auto Ordinance makes a 1911A1 that's close but its a series 80 aks has a lowered ejection port.
Unless you wanna blow your wad on a Colt original or reissue 1911A1 buy a Tisas and do what I did.

First one of these Tisas's I have seen that malfunctioned. That being said the 1911 was not designed to shoot hollow points however After beveling and polishing the ramp and throat all of my 1911's they will shoot anything.
If you shoot a bunch of ball ammo then switch to hollow point make SURE the ramp is not lead fouled before doing so on a factory stock 1911.
I don't own or carry anything but 1911's, I even have one that is 100 +- years old and all the numbers match on it, even the main spring housing is numbered...
I'll bet your thumb safety is a little mushy. That one jam you had on the hollow point, did not look like a feed jam. It looked as though your slide stop popped up, and locked the slide back. This is due to a weak plunger spring. Change out your plunger spring for a Wolf. This will tighten up your thumb safety and also stop your slide stop from popping up on a partial mag.

I run hollow points in mine and it eats everything i put in it .but i don't use the factory mags i have a bunch of chip and Wilson mags so thats what i use.im about 3k rounds in and never a malfunction in my 9 or 10mm .my 45 is an older Springfield trp .so i didn't see a reason to buy another 45

The Tisas guns are superior, not using any cast metal parts ("Metal injection molded" or MIM) and instead use machined steel parts,
which were made from bar stock or forgings, and which are hardened before machining, making them more dimensionally accurate and consistent.
For not much more money you can get the (carry) model that has a few improvements including the sights.

I got a Taurus 1911 in 45acp. I paid $500 for this thing. This thing spits out EVERYTHING without issue. Different brands of ball. Different brands of hollow points. It hasn't had one issue. Heck, all my Glocks have had more issues. My Sigs have had issues. Even my Rugers. But not this guy. Its mind boggling. Anyway...Jesus Christ is Lord regardless if you believe it or not. Yeah, I cant find many videos on them unfortunately. When I was looking at it to buy it, I was looking at the one without the rail, but the woman said, "I'll get you a new one from the back." When she brought it out it had the rail, but I was too excited to even notice. I finally realized it when I got home and I was devastated. I wanted one shaped like your Tisas since it was going to be my first 1911. But I ended up putting an Olight Valkerie on it and now im in love.

Thanks for the comment, it’s been awesome so far, I keep hearing great things about Tisas! I do hear that one needs to upgrade mags, that’s my first thing I am gonna do. I want to upgrade the trigger as well, it would be neat to see how much I could improve an already good platform.

@n721sw You also half to Polish the slide face where the cartridge slides up into the ejector there is a lot of drag there. Most people forget this very important spot when they ease up the action. I'm speaking of the face where the firing Pin the Protutes.

Howdy, I do most of my pistol videos at 20 feet, I try and keep it standard, so I can go back and compare different pistols, and at that particular place, I don’t have a lot of room.
Maybe it would be helpful to do a bit of research and find out how to correctly pronounce, more or less, the name of the gun manufacturer. It is really not so hard and adds to the reviewer and the review credibility.

Tisas is good stuff, I’m trying to spread the word. I borrowed a friends Tisas to do a video review and I liked it so much, I went and bought my own and did another video. I have a $550 Springfield 1911, this Tisas is the same quality or better for way less $. Thank you for watching and replying usualsuspect.
