I recently purchased this Tisas 1911 from my LGS for 449.99 (they are almost impossible to find now on line) as a knock around gun. I have a Dan Wessen semi custom upgraded M1911A2 which I absolutely love. But to my surprise the Tisas is just as accurate and problem free! it eats everything I feed it including +P hollow points. A real superb 1911 for the money.
Indeed
I got last one they had today 438
Out the door
The original 1911’s came with a dark walnut grip, but for the second war the grips believe it or not were plastic..
I didn't know that, thanks for the info.
Yup. They had a slightly more coarse texture than the Tisas and were a bit darker.
I went ahead and got the wooden US grips for mine. Looks great with that parkerized finish.
@jeff lockaby Advertisment says so, but I have also seen cerakote which is more likely I suppose.

Bakelite grips
1911a1s had the plastic grips,ww1 1911s were wood.
All I've done to mine is shoot the hell out of it, clean it, and replaced the grips with some walnut grips from Altamont...great pistols, well worth the price..
You understand (by now) this is not intended as a Tisas baseline offering. The Tisas 1911 Service Model comes closer to that. This is intended to be a close rendition of a WW2 era 1911A1 government issue sidearm. The plastic grips you call cheap is an attempt at being true to period. You can always add wood diamond grips.
Generally speaking, whichever model has the lowest sticker price is the "baseline" model, which was the case with this firearm when I posted this video.
Lol at how many people with gun channels don’t know anything about guns.
This gun is bang on accurate. the grips are perfect. This is what the people want. The A1 came with brown bakelite (plastic) grips. An A1 never had wood grips unless the person to whom it was issued replaced them along the way. This isn’t a cost savings measure. This is an accurate clone.
Dude. Read up the 1911A1 before doing a video on a 1911A1. Stuff drives
me nuts. These dudes talking like this is a budget feature, when in reality they just don’t know anything about the pistol they are reviewing.
Ok boomer
Every body wants to be some body.
Closest repro to ww2 1911A1. Parkerized, vertical slide serrations, plastic grips, beavertail hammer spur & very accurate!
Exactly right
That thing ran those hollow points like a champ . Most Kimber 1911’s can’t do that
Kimbers i think are over priced.Buddy flew down to fla from virginia and the stainless barrel was rusted from a 1hour and a half flight.
@@alpalmieri8644 I believe it. Their 1911 magazines suck also
Ergo XTR grips look awesome with this gun. Just bought them.
Just shot mine at the range today. Absolutely LOVE this gun. I installed a set of VZ Grips on mine. Nice upgrade from basic plastic.
Bakelite grips I believe. That's actually to make the gun more WWII authentic as I think they were on many issue 1911's of the period. I like that wide spur hammer as well. My RIA GI has those sharp edges on the grip safety that begin to chew into the hand too. Thanks for the video.
I like the RIA better, will have to do comparo video. And then there's my Ruger... no comparison, but twice the price so there shouldn't be. Also the Ruger isn't trying to be a original mil style copy, so it has all the modern improvements. Thanks for watching.
Brown plastic was the US government issue standard for WW2 era made 1911A1s. Colt also produced the .38 Colt Commando (government purchased Official Police Models) with brown plastic grips. Just a cost saving measure for producing in mass.
They discontinued these army models.Better hang on to it
I just ordered a brand new one yesterday from rural king idk how long it will take to get it was 328 in total price
I just bought one and the thing shoots great and ate the firt 150 rounds without a glitch. I did end up with hammer bite though.
Excellent video, thx. A shooting bud has one. After a $60 trigger job and a kitchen table polishing of the feed ramp.It is as good if not better than the way over priced 1911’s. The only thing I dislike about Tisas copying US GI 1911’s military type sights.
BTW every gun aficionado must have at least one 1911 in their collection. To not have at least one 1911 is heresy and is punishable by being forced to only shoot HiPoint Yeet Cannons, policeing everybody’s brass and castration done by an ugly nurse that jokes about your tiny manhood.
Thanks and that shit's funny as hell. But where can I get a $60 trigger job?
Guns&Cars Sorry but he’s gone. He is an Airman that did 1911 and S&W revolvers at his apartment near Luke AFB. He transferred out nearly a year ago and my shooting bud lost contact with him. He did a real and I do mean a real sweet trigger job on my old S&W 27-2 Hwy Patrolman. Unfortunately I kept procrastinating and missed out on my Model 19. Don’t know what he did on my friend’s Model 29-2. The cylinder would bind up after shooting mag loads. He fixed it for only five bucks.

This video is 2 years old. I just bought mine for $450. The best gun-buy of my life.
I have one and love it. It's a well-made tool 1000 rnds and counting no FTF issues with FMJS/ HPS, I'm keeping it. Colt watch out! The sights and the trigger are fine. Remember the pistol is a tool to help you get to your rifle. You may be used to series 80?
When I finally get my pistol licence, I’m going to buy one of these for the range. Sadly here in Australia they’re $900...
That sucks
Only slaves need permission to arm themselves
I honestly didn't know you could purchase pistols in Australia. What are the restrictions there?
Other people have commented on the grips but I figure I’d add that they’re copies of the 3rd pattern of Bakelite grip. The first pattern had a large diamond around the grip screws like the WWI wood grips, these dropped out of style quickly and were replaced by a second pattern that had fine checkering over the whole surface and turned out to be too weak and cracked in service. This lead to the third pattern with the reinforcement around the grip screws.
Thanks for the info
Like the fact it's forged slide & barrel
Cold Hammer Forged Frame, Slide, Barrel
Una buena pistola nada que envidiar a la original. El color me encanta saludos
I have a Springfield loaded in stainless steel and it runs everything. Being a lefty I bought a loaded blue steel Tisas with dual safety levers and after a good grease job on the rails and barrel it shoots just as smooth as my trusted Springfield at half the price. Truth be told all modern 1911 manufacturers make their guns using CNC machining just as long as the programmers put in the correct specifications so it’s not rocket science but more about who has the biggest name recognition to drive up the price.
You know what? That's actually a good point. It really does feel like we are paying for the name, and not the gun. Which makes a lot of sense, since we know those brands, and we trust them.

Have put 600 rnds through mine, no issues at all. Well made platform.
Rock ilands have a cast frame Tisas have forged frames slides amd barrels just like ww2 1911a1s.
I believe a little polishi internally and a bit of adjustment and I believe I can make this work for me ,course its not going to match up to my Roger 1911stanlessin 10 mm
Love my Ruger as well
I have a Tisas 1911A1. It is as well built (because they used Colt's specs) and performs as good as any COLT I have ever seen. It may as well be a Colt.
That's like Girsan and Beretta, only Girsan actually produced the 92 for Beretta at one point before selling their own clone of it.
Lol ... A sniper !!! That's a good one !!! Heck i thought y'all was Delta Force the way you was pouring em in there :-)
So you could say I have a bit of an addiction when it comes to the 1911. Currently I have nine of them. All of them are full-sized g i model. Many different companies. I have two that are made by Tisas.
And I'll tell you right now in a blind test... They are quite literally as accurate and is solid and reliable as the springfields that I have and the Colt... The RIA.... They really have made a very tight very accurate and incredibly reliable dependable 1911.
I had one that was a 9 mm but yeah I don't do the whole 9 mm 1911 thing. If they're not 45 ACP I really have no interest.
But seriously..
I would trust my life and the lives of my kids to this firearm. 🔥
Awesome, so do I lol. Check out my 1911 playlist on the channel then 😁 👍
saying a tisas is like a rock island is an insult lmao. Forged is always better than cast crap.
Just ordered one of these for $329 with 2 8rd magazines.
I've been seeing them local for $319 but I think that's with only 1 mag. Now is the time to buy one, that's for sure...
@@BuckeyeBallistics lol I just saw them for $319 today. After I placed the order of course. The ones I saw came with one 7rd magazine. I'll gladly pay an additional $10 for two 8rd magazines.

The plastic grips at Kahr Arms are actual GI
Just watching the review before I buy this firearm so far I like the way it shoots
It's a good gun for the price, but I'd spend the extra $100 for the Rock Island personally (video on channel). I intend to do a comparo video sometime soon...

Cool, thank you.

That's such a beautiful range with the rocky outcrops
Yeah the background is nice, but I wish they would do something about the mud and maybe re-paint the walls. Their rifle range is pretty sweet too, set in a valley. But again, a mud pit.

its pronounced "Titty's"!!! good shooting! enjoyed the review, now i gotta get one and do a trigger job...thanks!! yep..JUST THE TIP!! Baaaahaahahahaaa...awesome!!
Lol thanks
@@BuckeyeBallistics Its actually pronounced Ti-shash.
I think this is the best low cost 1911 on the market. They need a trigger job as the stock trigger is much too heavy(I think). Otherwise, load the mags, insert them into the pistol and put holes in targets. I hate the G.I. model. I always get hammer bite. .45 was a tricky one for Me to get right. I struggled big time to get My shots where I wanted them to be. Using the pad of My finger made all the difference! It's the little things.
As already mentioned, the 'plastic' grips and the color of the pistol are true to the mil spec 1911s.
I've been around many 1911s and these absolutely get the job done. Back in WW2, manufacturers of, everything, needed to move at high speed and were a little rough around the edges. But, with time and breaking-in, were fantastic.
Of course, custom made, high dollar 1911s are going to be more refined than the originals - and they had better be.
There's nothing structurally wrong with the Tisas. And you're not alone with the hammer bite. I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but yes, you want to let your support hand do the heavy lifting while maintaining the trigger finger between the first joint and the end of your finger. Took me a while to get used that. I blame the cops and robbers movies and shows with the single-handed shooting. Let's not even start on the 'turning the gun sideways' stuff. Argh!
Thanks for the video.
polymer grip is period correct for a wwII reproduction
Evidently the Turkish manufacturing company that makes these has very good tooling and machinery. My gunsmith buddy (75 yrs old and has been hand fitting custom 1911&2011s for many decades) says this gun has the tightest tolerances and most precisely machined components of all the low priced 1911s. Even better than many in the $700+ category. Get a trigger job and a set of G10 grips off Amazon for $25 and you got a good looking and good shooting 1911.
I love watching Millennials shoot 1911's

What's your opinion between the rock island and tisas @Guns&Cars ? I want a cheap 1911 and I'm stuck between the two
Rock Island. I did a video on that one as well.
@@BuckeyeBallistics can you link the video, I cant find it on your page
It was last year. I don't know how to link from my phone. If I remember when I get home from work I'll open the laptop and send you the link.
I created a 1911 playlist so it's easy to find. Just go under my playlists on the channel and look for the 1911 playlist.
not trying to be mean but learn how to grip a pistol like that. Focus , breathe and fire. I have this firearm its SPOT on . Get two extra mags atleast. Mine came with 2 mags , i bout 2 additional.
I was in the US Army during the 1911 generation. The government 1911 had plastic grips. I think they called it Bakelite.
I have the model zig M 1911 it is the stainless with Marines rodent on the slide in the grips but I can't find this gun they don't make it no more it's not made in Turkish no more what's a $800
Ateş etme mandali cikartabiliyormuyuz
That’s the same price I paid for mine. It’s identical except mine included wood grips with no texture on them.
I'm impressed that it shot those Federal Hollow Points! The 1911 pistol was designed to shoot ball ammo. Most Milspec 1911s are very close to the original and I have found them not to work well with hollow points. Of course there are exceptions to that rule, and this gun runs them well.
Yeah kinda crazy that the cheapest 1911 you can buy will shoot anything while more expensive ones won't.
I'm surprised too. But I'm not complaining one bit. This means that this 1911 is a lot more versatile in its role in the civilian market than the more expensive ones. A good sidearm for hunting, target shooting, competition (all be it with a little modification), AND self defense. All it takes is a quick swap of the ammo type, and you can easily use this handgun for most situations.
Now to be clear: I'm not hating on more expensive 1911s. But if my SDS 1911A1 can handle steel case ammo, regular ball, +P, AND Hollow Points better than my $1,500 Sig 1911, I'm gonna start using the SDS more.
A dremel and some polish. Buff the ramp a bit until it looks like a mirror. All of my 1911s fire about anything. Of course my roberts defense was a beast out of the box.
Great priced gun but I don’t recommend anybody buying it right now the price has skyrocketed to 450$
I don't know if the prices will ever drop back down again. The compareable Rock Islands are $550 now. With 4 years of Biden, don't count on it.
@@BuckeyeBallistics lol we all know Kamala is the real president
Just got this same gun for $328 shipped. September 2022.
Nice handgun.
The cheap plastic grips were intentional to be as close as possible to the old army issued pistols.
for your hold style , your finger is in the wrong place. Your technic is not good.
I looked at one of these it looks like a well built 1911 that I could afford on my budget either this or the rock island 1911 A1
That is correct. If you look in my 1911 playlist, I have several videos of the Tisas and a Rock Island. Both are very reliable. I prefer the Rock over this Tisas, but it does cost more. However, we just recently showcased another (different model) Tisas, and I like that one more than the Rock. But again, it costs more than this one.
Tisas is forged RI is cast. That is the main difference for me and why i chose the Tisas
Mine also came with 2 Mecgar mags and the trigger was very crisp not mushy
Your trigger finger placement is all wrong for a 1911. Always use the pad of the trigger finger, not the first joint like you would with a revolver.
Sold out everywhere
I purchased the Tisas 1911 in 45 and 9mm back in April 2023. Mine came with a nice plastic case, 2 mags and 2 sets of grips. The GI plastic ones that were on what I carried when I was in the Navy, but I left the walnut ones that were on the guns when I bought them. I've taken both to the range 2 times and love both. The guns are nice and tight and built well. This is the government model so there's no extras. If what you're looking for is a government model for the price and quality you can't go wrong.
That trigger was hella bothering you.Which one u like better Tisas or Rock Island?

The grips aren't plastic so as to be cheap. They are plastic so as to conform to the standard of USGI issue. In other words, they were issued by the US Army with plastic grips, and so naturally the reproduction will have plastic grips, too.
Hundreds of rounds. Never experienced hammer bite. Just lucky I guess.

Are standard 1911 mags compatible with these?
Yes
I was considering sanding the coating off part of my front sight like a makeshift white dot
if you stop putt8ng the trigger in the "pit" of your finger and use your finger your shooting will improve drastically....just saying.
Yeah like I said in the video, never had this problem before. I think it's because the trigger is so narrow and rounded on this gun. My Ruger 1911 for example is very wide and flat by comparison.

Hey, i have a question. my tisas 1911a1, the grip safety takes VERY little pressure to disengage the trigger pull. is that normal? i hear a lot of 1911 you need a FIRM grip on the grip safety to disengage it. mine literally takes a tiny poke and it will disengage. THANKS!
In my experience (check out the 1911 playlist on the channel), I have never noticed any of the grip safeties being stiff and needing a firm grip to depress them, but rather, quite the opposite- so I would say it's likely normal. However, if you're genuinely concerned, then I would contact Tisas or the importer and ask them.
@@BuckeyeBallistics I mean not stiff. My grip safety takes very little press to disengage the trigger
