    I have the 9mm untouchable Girsan. Only came with 1 magazine but my Colt commander mags fit just fine.
    I haven't had any issues feeding, ejecting or holding open after last round with fmj and hollow points. Trigger is a bit on the stiff side but still crisp on release. Not thrilled but not disappointed either. Will run another 200-300 rounds through it before I decide if I want to work on lightening the trigger pull.

    I like to validate my guns with all combos of ammo and all magazine types for each pistol I own. I can say the 200 grain lawman feeds in none of my 1911s, ranging from a tuned and loved Colt (used in competition by previous owner, tuned, ramped etc. by my own gunsmith) to old-school Detonics (also ramped and polished by my gunsmith with 30 years experience). I will not buy that profile anymore. All my guns eat Federal 230g JHP and Remington Golden Saber 185g+p. 200 grain is just not food for a 1911, and I would not judge any 1911 by it's capacity to run it.

      Agree. I made the mistake of buying a Girsan officer model 1911. Had similar extractor-related failure to achieve battery problems with 3 different brands of ball ammo and two different brand mags, as well as some failures to eject. The slide would come back, still holding the spent case.

    1911s are notorious for being hollow point sensitive. Pick a quality load with a ball profile, use good mags and properly lubricate it. It is not a Glock. Also, DO NOT drop the slide on a 1911 with no round being fed from a mag. The chambering of a round reduces the jar as the slide goes into battery. With out that reduction, the jar can and will eventually cause the hammer notch to jump and slip off the sear notch. Once that starts to happen the edges off the hammer and sear notches will round off and your hammer will start following the slide down every time you chamber a round and you will need to replace them.

      We tried different hollow points in one of the videos including some with very rounded profiles and it still hangs up. Know what's funny? We ran the same Federal HP's through a brand new $300 Tisas and it ate them all no problem. So does our Rock Island, Ruger, and Colt. There's just an issue with this Girsan because all the others have ran 100%, even with the same ammo.

    Not sure if mines a newer model,I'm new to guns and just learning since I got my permit recently but I believe mines a gen 2 and didnt have any problems what so ever.
    My brother in law ran 200 rds with 0 trouble so maybe girsan recognized the problems and fixed them.
    Even when I look at the slide stop and safety they look updated from the older 45 model.
    I will take mine out after all this virus b.s is done and do a few videos.
    I've got a old Steven's 20 ga and a older Remington 222 that I guess fbi used to use those as sniper rifles from what I've read and I've got a double star star 15 and wanna do some videos myself.

      Sometimes we only had 1 or 2 per box of 50 that would mess up, sometimes it was more like 10 per box. Even at 1 per box, that 1 could be the one that get's you killed if it jams up on you when you are fighting for your life. If you watch the other 2 videos of the gun you will see all the jams; there were a lot more. In part 1 we discovered it didn't like hollow points and jammed up on them. In part 2 I tried several different other hollow points and it still did it. So here in part 3 he had messed with it as mentioned, and while improved, still had issues as you saw. But it runs fmj's (regular ammo) just fine. He has since sold the gun which irritated me slightly because I wanted to work on it myself and never got too. Gorgeous gun...

    Those hollow point cavities are deep, looks like you could fill'em with water and wash from it. Not really I know, but they are pretty damn big. Amazing they feed at all. Oh and you do control firing that 1911 rather well. Nicely done.

    • @BuckeyeBallistics
      @BuckeyeBallistics  4 года назад +3

      In part 2 we tried all kinds of hollow points including much more rounded ones with cavities half the diameter, and it still hung up. It may run those now that we tuned the extractor, it may not. I'll never know, because the owner sold the gun. All I know is I'm happy to own a Ruger 1911, because it eats everything. And thanks, but people mock me on here for flinching/anticipating recoil, so I thought I'd just go ahead and make fun of myself in the video. Hopefully some people will get a good laugh at that. I'm still trying to work on the anticipation thing. I'm a long time rifle shooter and only recently started shooting pistols, so it's part of what I still need to work on.

The first 50 or so rounds i was hitting everything darn near dead on then it just started shooting lower and lower until it was shooting 6inches low or more. I still haven't had a malfunction with any 230fmj ammo but just about any plus p or hollow point it fouls up. I also have noticed you need the mags that are made for it, it hates other mags.

      I don't know, maybe just the way I shoot (can't speak for him). I was a rifle shooter for over a decade before I ever really started shooting pistols, so maybe that's why (because I'm used to resting my cheek on something when shooting). I think my head positioning has since changed some though if you were to compare more recent videos of me shooting pistols. I kinda just taught myself to shoot, no training or anything. People usually comment that my stance is wrong, I hold the gun wrong, etc. I don't really care though because I probably shoot better than them anyway (now). I'm decent on the pistol range with the right gun and I can shoot some of them 100 yards accurately as well. I have tried the "correct" methods and I shoot worse, so I have just stuck with what works for me.

      I too have a Girsan. Mine is commander in 9mm, as I wanted to try a 1911 in 9. My edc is a Les Baer 1911 TRS in .45. Love that gun. In many years of shooting it, never one single jam or failure to feed or eject. The Garson on the other hand can't get thru a mag without F'n up. GRRRRRR!
      Far, changed the ejector, extractor, recoil spring, polished the ramp and it still isn't quite right. First issue was the recoil spring. Far over sprung, and worse, it was going into coil bind almost 3/8" before boing fully rearward. I just put a Knight Hawk Commander spring in it of lesser weight and it too was too long. It is trimmed now and will test in a few minutes on my private range. (Sure comes in handy being able to just walk out he back door and test). ;
