There isn't a single (Korean) webtoon that does not use Sketchup models for their backgrounds, so don't be sad if you use a 3D model for your background.
I was very apprehensive about using 3d models in csp myself, then I saw a video about the animation industry and that basically everyone heavily references everything and uses whatever tools they have available. Including pictures and 3D models and honestly it made me feel MUCH better about using 3d models

As a long time traditional artist with 0 digital experience, but who spent a lot of time researching tablets and programs and paying a ton for a top of the line Samsung tab and deciding on clip studio paint, I am VERY grateful for all of your in depth CSP videos.

Great comparison! I used Pro for a very long time and I never really had a moment where I felt locked out of important features unlike a lot of other programs with different liscenses. I recently upgraded to EX because it was on sale last year and I really want to try out animation but I think you can rely on Pro for quite a lot, which I'm really glad about!

You're my favorite youtuber in teaching this program. I'm getting started on digital art so I think I'll stick with pro ( since it's on sale now) and the fact I can upgrade to ex and pay a little less is amazing since in the moment I don't have the money for ex and am afraid of expending too much on a program I'm starting
You'll very likely only ever need pro anyway if you're doing digital art. I only really use one or two small features in ex, and I was fine without them before I upgraded. 😊
I've been deciding on an alternative to Photoshop after how badly Adobe are botching it, so looks like it's Clip Studio EX for me. Thanks for this video!

That's really annoying, these features are pretty useful but a $150 price jump is just ridiculous. Its gonna be annoying not being able to organize the pages but that much money for only a slightly more connivant workflow is asking way to much

Omg tysm for this. I have been looking into CSP for a bit and when I saw the huge price difference from pro to EX, I was worried pro wouldn't have essential features I would need. But I already have Adobe Animate 2022 for animations, I don't make comics almost at all and I'm not interested in 3d work so I can get pro more comfortably now. Ty

Clip Studio Debut actually is the bundled version that comes with select Wacom tablets. I bought an Intuos Small last year and it said it came with a year license of Clip Studio. As it turns out, it was the Debut version. I don’t remember if it offered a discount to upgrade though

Thanks for the video. I had no idea Clip Studio had animation abilities! I had hoped I could get away with Pro, but EX has enough benefits I think I’m doomed to buying it 😭
The nice thing is you can get pro, and if you determine you need the features in EX, they have a special upgrade to upgrade your license.

I use Procreate for my Art but I wanna use Clip Studio Paint for Art as well to see which ones work for me best. I like Procreate is very easy to use and the UI is very clean
I believe Clip Studio has a "simple mode" which makes all those scary buttons dissappear 😁
I myself haven't used it so I wouldn't know what to tell you on the experiece.

I could be very very wrong.. but from having worked in printing/publishing software you can add a layer that essentially says "THIS IS FOIL" or "THIS IS CLEAR GLOSS" which will tell the printer to add glue and foil or a high gloss section to a print. It looks like Clip just took it a step further so you can see how it looks..? Again, I could be wrong.
Oh maybe. That's kinda neat if that's what that setting is.

Does anybody else feel like $219 is a hell of a lot of money to pay for software of ANY KIND?
I'm agonizing, WHY can't they have the script/outline feature in Pro?
Seriously, that's such a basic- yet crucial- part of EVERY artist/project's process! But they wanna make it part of the version that's the same exact price as the friggin' TABLET I am using to MAKE THE DAMN ART ITSELF.
At least it's possible to upgrade from Pro to Ex.
I guess I'll have to find a separate app to do the writing part with. I'll keep up my epic search for the perfect writing app, so far I've spent a month trying out all the highest-rated apps in the Play store (I went through about 5 apps, now I'm down to Campfire, Pluot, Novelist, and Character Planner)
I'm basically writing and drawing the longest book ever made in the modern era. We're talking, like, Holy-Bible-type length.
I know it'll be worthwhile, in the end.
I have to consider how fortunate I am not to be living in the medieval era. When I think of a monk spending decades of his life on an illuminated manuscript, doing absolutely everything by hand, I suddenly feel better.
After all, I have a font-making app, where I can make special original lettering, then I can just type out the words and make it all look hand-drawn.
Those monks would think that's the most amazing thing ever! Surely, that would've saved them YEARS. Not even exaggerating!
Everybody these days who creates literature and art is SO LUCKY, compared to those who came before us!
I mean, to think, artists these days can find a photo reference of ANYTHING, simply by typing what we want into a search bar. Before 2000, everyone had to go to the library and look through physical books, or do a study of the subject from life, or refer to work by another artist. That would take days, maybe weeks, and in the end you wouldn't even have much of a selection.

i’m looking to get csp to start a webcomic and i don’t know if that multi page tool is worth that ~$200 price difference since ik i won’t be using most of the other stuff
There should be a sale upcoming in September if you can wait. You could also get Pro (on sale it's like $25) and if you decide you need those features later, you can upgrade! I will say, the 3d/photo to lineart tool in EX would be really handy for webcomics and environment art.

It can be. I've experienced some lag sometimes and I have a fairly new computer

I have Pro and I love it. However if I get into larger animations I’ll just export all the files and import into Blender. Not worth the extra $150 IMO. However for comic creation and scripting I think the workflow will be useful but again is it worth $150 for the upgrade ?
For comics I've seen videos of comic artists workflow and it's a must!

The features are meant for professional animators and comic artists and the price point reflects being a professional software.

Thanks very much for your video. I work for Marvel comics and this whole Adobe kerfuffle is making a lot of look for other options while the lawyers try to sort everything out. Im probably going to buy the Pro version especially since there's a 60% sale going on right now for the Pro version, do you know though if I work on pages in Pro that someone in EX could open them and add them somehow to a comic book series as you detailed in the comic section of the video? Thanks again!
I don't know honestly. The person using EX could definitely open the file but I'm not sure if they would be able to copy the pages into a different document easily. Also after the person with EX saves the document it's unlikely anyone with Pro will be able to open it, or some layers/features might be missing if they can.

I have to use ex since I animate a lot. And on average 50 frames per animation. Even though pro is sooo much cheaper I’m unfortunately stuck with ex

Im going to try and get the pro version I seriously need a program that's like paint tool sai for cel shading, I don't really need the manga tool because I have manga studio ex already 😊

Do you need a specific tablet for drawing device to use the program? I was going to get a wacom intous and then get clip studio paint.
Nope, I use a Huion. Wacom is a great choice though.

so basically you can have an animation in any length(ie have like a 20-50 sec animation for example) but cant exceeded 24 FPS on pro is that correct
Unless there's a cap on the frame duration that I didn't hit (I think I tested up to like 5 seconds per frame) then I believe so. But I could be wrong so I recommend testing yourself.

I don't make webtoons, so don't take my word for it but you could probably get CSP pro on sale for $25 and use layers as organization instead of the pricier features in EX

Do They Both Cost?
Yeah no. 1:18 You're missing a huge part that made me switch to Clip Art Studio Ex from Adobe Photoshop
Convert 2D and 3D images to lines and tones THIS IS HUGE!! It's game changer it's insane they're not the same because of it. Imagine all the time you can save using this instead of drawing and painting every single backgrounds.

My native language is not English and the subtitles are not correct, so I have a question. Is the Pro Version enough to make a professional Weebtoon? Ex Version is really a huge amount for my currency. I would be happy if you answer.
Pro version will be ok to start out with. If you need more features you can consider upgrading, but pro has a lot of features already.

If you do not need advanced features such as collaboration tools, 3d-to-lineart, or any of the other features I mentioned in the EX part of the video, yes.
I recommend looking up the features on clip studios website and comparing for yourself, because while I think Pro is enough, I cannot be your decision maker.

hello I have a question I'm new using clip studios paint but I was wondering what would happen ones the 6 or 3 months free try are over I will be not able to use the program any more until I start paying?
I haven't tried using it without a license, but most likely yes, you won't be able to use it until you purchase. Luckily it goes on sale pretty often

So there's no difference between the 2 when it comes to creating comics im asking before I think of getting a expensive software
I covered this in the video starting at about the 3:40 timestamp, but in case you missed that info, EX will have the page manager, story editor, other multi-page work related features, webtoon PDF and ebook exporting and printing options, and some 3d-to-line-and-tone features that will help extensively with creating comics.

Both versions sucks when it comes to animation terms . At least I made one but there is a frame limit so no bueno .. All versions sucks
CSP is definitely not industry standard for animation, but I wouldn't say EX sucks. I've seen some amazing animations made with it.
@@madameberry The issue is the frame limit which keeps you from doing long animations .. Mine is stuck only at 24 frames ..

Like I explained in the video you're commenting on, that frame limit is removed once you upgrade from pro version to EX
@@madameberry BTW good grief I just had to crack it after activating 30 day trial so now it's free . Replaced with a cracked EX version but I still have to observe it since the frame limit is off
