Kurt Rosenwinkel is in his own league. The top tier of jazz guitarist of all time. his vocabulary is so vast, never running out of ideas and swings his tail off! I’m so glad you featured him on this concert. 100 stars!
yeah it is. But I'd actually like to see a creative work of art instead of a masterclass. I prefer the records, for example the big band album, Caipi or the Next Step
@@JannisSicker Well, it sounds like art to me, buddy. What I meant was that Kurt has it all - the man has the chops to accompany, solo, and compose. I don't understand your comment. Are you saying that if you have all these skills, it won't be considered art anymore?
Agreed, they are smoking on this one and Kurt just takes it to another level. So wondeful to finally see this collaboration. Great band but surely a piano-guitar pairing that is as good as it gets.
@@TorrieSeager i dont play guitar. my father does, but he studied classical guitar and classic composition back in the days. i know, jazzguitarrists tend to worship rosenwinkel. i dont care. i prefer other guys.
Here in the teeming metropolis of Peoria, IL, jazz of this calibre is the exception, not the norm. Don't get me wrong. There are many exceptional and dedicated players, just not the necessary demographics that result in the venues and audiences on any kind of regular basis. It is what it is. Having RUclips channels such as this, Small's Jazz Club and others helps in allowing us who love this expression to absorb and to enjoy. If we can't get it live, we can come here and get it virtually. Thank you for the artistry, the virtuosity and the willingness to share it, even ***way *** out here.
This was an awesome show. I have heard a lot about Kurt, yet never had seen him play. His fluidity is amazing and his sound is fantastic. A truly gifted guitarist. I will try to see him live.
I saw Rosenwinkel at the Village Vanguard but half the time he was accompanying his singing wife who was okay but I came to see KR. Now with Emmet, I can hear just how good Kurt is.
Also must be said that Kyle Poole really has an amazing touch and knows how to play small rooms like that. It's clear whenever another drummer gets on how much louder and heavy handed they feel. Respect!
Hey there, Conor - these performances stream on Monday nights @7:30p Eastern …🔥🎼 they’ve been a near-sacred gathering in Emmet’s apartment, since the pandemic…so, come swing with our global musical family 💯🎶 -Live performances from the apt. were originally streamed weekly, but are now on a monthly basis …however, you can still catch recorded performances from the Trio’s tour schedule, which continue to air each Monday (also @ 7:30p) Blessings, friend.

This is basically a new Kurt record 🔥
Glad that you guy's played kurt's compositions. IMHO he's a great player but even greater composer.
Love to hear Alex Claffy on the bass. Beautiful playing and groove.
The playing here sends shivers down my spine. Absolutely phenomenal musicianship all around! I’m so inspired by the contemporary mastery 🫶🏼🥰
Been looking forward to this one for YEARS
Was almost positive that Emmet's place was going to catch fire and burn to the ground during Kurt's solo on Nica's Dream
Agreed, they are smoking on this one and Kurt just takes it to another level. So wondeful to finally see this collaboration. Great band but surely a piano-guitar pairing that is as good as it gets.
Amazing.. so happy they played When Sunny Gets Blue. I always loved Kurt's version on his album Intuit
Came here to say this exact thing. Intuit was my first exposure to KR around 2006/2007 via AccuRadio
Same here. 'Intuit' is a great record.
Great record❤
Love this👌

nice harmonics, but a little boring rhythm. typical rosenwinkelstuff.

Whats the name of Kurt's pedal?
Fractal Ax8 or some kind of similar stuff, I'm not sure of the model but I woud say definetly fractal.
Fractal FM3
He's also used an EHX POG2 for other gigs to get the reduced attack thing.

Mike Moreno? Lage Lund?
Audio is delayed by ~474s..
I like the attitude of Kurt. I don’t like the attitude of the other musician.
I am curious to know what a "good attitude" is and why it even matters?
Does anyone know the name of the first tune?
