TY 4 the layout of it all.
Thank you for your services
You're doing the Lord's work...
Mr P.C. and Ceora make me remember Milestones, a great record by Paquito D Rivera and the late trumpet player Claudio Roditi
It's crazy how Larry makes people play different.
All the great players do that.
You mean better 😂
Kyle Poole hitting the craziest drum licks while staring into your soul is always one of the best things about Emmet’s Place every week😂😂😂
Patrick is an absolute fire breather 🔥
It's crazy...he can go from Benny Carter/Johnny Hodges to Bird/Cannonball to Eric Dolphy/Kenny Garrett but all while sounding like himself. There's 100 years of jazz and jazz saxophone in his playing...it's astounding - you've literally never heard anything like it! Then he kicks it into high gear and launches into orbit, wailing on alitissimo as if he's singing to the whole world.
Thank you Emmet, Patrick, Kyle, and Larry - this is one we'll never forget.
Monsters
Totally agree
He channeled his inner Coltrane on Mr. P.C. 🔥🔥🔥
Well put, was thinking the same. His playing on Just One of Those Things is just sublime. Mucho Cannonball, but just his own universe. I love how he hearkened to the era on Sophisticated Lady with the extra vibrato- but somehow was modern. Truly amazing.
Bartley’s solo on Just One is the most overwhelming solo I’ve heard since whenever. 🤩
Man, I really enjoy this quartet. A source of peacefulness and serenity in the often too stressful environments we tend to dwell.
If you like jazz, Emmet Cohen's channel has to be one of the "compulsory" subscriptions!
I agree and add " if you like jazz, love music, and phenomenal musicianship, Emmet's channel is a must! There's none better to energize you no matter what kind of day or night you're having. A day without music is a day that's forgettable.
@@EdnaLyons It is incredible that we can enjoy this music, not only for free, but also because we can watch them play
I subcribed on the third note. 😂
👍🏾👍🏾
What a rhythm section I studied with Larry for 2 1/2 years or so and he’s still the most emotionally moving upright player to me listen to that incredible thematic development, outstanding intonation and tone. Kyle is an absolute monster touch, feel, language, comping, support and great musical chops.
larry's punctuated staccato notes...love it. my favorite modern jazz bassist!
1:17:44 pursuance lick 🔥😩
素晴らしい!!日本は今日は雨ですが、朝から素晴らしい演奏を聞いて一日の始まりが幸せな気分です。ありがとう。
The more I hear of Emmet’s lyrical ideas the more I’m reminded of early Phineas Newborn Jr. Emmet seems to have a limitless creative vocabulary and never ceases to amaze with his flawless technique. Thanks for the music from all the players and great to see Larry!
That's a great comparison
Seeing Larry G and Russell H in this band is incredible…both masterful and completely different! I’d love to hear the drummer’s opinion on playing with both.
Damn… pats sound is huge … always a pleasure to hear
His embouchure is so relaxed.
Larry Grenadier's sound is unreal.
Best quartet since Trane... Pat's intensity is something that can't be rivaled by ANY modern players... Just wow man.
If you listen to Pat's Song of Storms cover you get more Trane - it's so good
kenny garrett.
@@JS-dt1tn na
@@benjamindarvish3027 Lol. Ok bud. Ask any of those cats and they'd tell you kennys quartets from the 90s onwards are on another level. But ok.
@@JS-dt1tn I’ve given kenny a good listen. If you put one of their records in front of me, and this in front of me, i’d choose this. Not saying Kenny isn’t a giant, but this is more enjoyable to listen to, from my perspective.
It’s always way more fun to watch people play, than just to listen. Always good vibes on this channel-the algorithm did a good job loading it into my feed 👏🏻
So swinging and musical. Thank you!
I love it haha. The allusion to himself and the whole band gets it at 19:15
i feel like licks from that solo are going to be showing up all over the place for years, what an amazing performance and so cool to hear him referencing himself haha
@@lightesque1407 yeah that’s definitely going to be a thing now. I don’t go to jams much but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is
@@lightesque1407 This is actually Miles Davis quote that people in the NY scene have been doing for decades now!
@@psyarts8687 aw shit! On which record is this?
Miles Davis - Walkin (Four & More), I’ve heard it on other live recordings of walking as well. It’s usually Miles and Tony Williams quoting it.
Larry Grenadier-love it! He listens so intently. Masterclass
Kyle has such great control over his dynamics on the kit. Feels like he can play anything he wants at any volume he desires, while maintaining accuracy & great swing. Thats always hard for me, especially at softer volumes
Sometimes I wonder if Poole is going to make it back to 1. He always does. Patrick Bartley puts a lot of air through that horn, what a sound. I can't think of anyone who's playing better than Bartley, or even as well. Emmet knows where to place the accompaniment and Grendier is solid and melodic in his solos.
Bartley may be the best of this generation. Mind blowing in every aspect in every sun genre of jazz. And his melodicism is unparalleled.
@@tonywallens217 Just when I think there's nowhere else to go, he goes somewhere else. He's astonishing.
@@farshimelt Yeah. It's mindblowing.
I agree he'se absolutey obscene, but Mark Turner? Chris Potter? Recent Joshua Redman? There are some serious players rn we are very blessed to be able to experience these people atm.
@@george7864 yeah for sure, but I’d say those guys are a generation prior, they got at least 20 years on Patrick
Watching the chat replay of Dave Pollack is making my day
every time Pat plays I get so incredibly hyped! I can't help it, hah
@@DavePollack that's the only appropriate response man pat just doesn't miss.
larry greandier and kyle poole is definitely one of my favourite rhythmic session of all times
19:32 flight of the bumblebee quote is craazy
This is ALSO why I LOVE Emmet. That, unlike MANY videos here, his CREDIT THE SONGWRITERS! This is so important. Jazz Fans and aspirng fans need to know this. THANK YOU!
And....Kyle Poole on Drums!!!
thank you for another amazing session
I'm wacthing in Japan, Mr. patrick, you've been already Japanese conversation master. Your blowing always knocks me out,
pat is unreal, 1 of 1, might go down as the greatest of all time holy fuck
57:45 Patrick sounds like a violin. Incredible.
Great music, Great saxophone! Thank you for taking in Japanese😀
Wow, the video and audio quality, the chops, and the magical blend of all the players. This is a superlative experience.
crazy, love this.
one of my favorite streams so far.
Thank you so much , for so much music and i mean really music !!!! besides you are Genius !!
Wow. I am watching it again and again.
I'm really quite fond of this combo good mix of West Coast cool. East Coast hard bop & standards. They got it going on daddy-o. Was listening to them cruising down through Pacific Coast Highway. In my 1967 red karmann ghia. These guys are part of my collective memory now. Enjoy the music... Because that's what it's all about. Thank you guys!!!!
Wow, what a great QUARTET!!!
Absolutely incredible as always, thanks so much for your contributions to music and to the jazz community
32:09 set up !!
maaaaan!!
36:39
We love that quote😂
Sheesh. This is magic. Swingin deep, but in style. Casual atmosphere and creative reinterpretations, all in great taste. This is the pinnacle
So great!!
What a gift, thanks!
larry grenadier-wow-where have you been ? Haha
first tune is a trio masterclass man, larry is crazy killing
Love it
what a GREAT band-Ken from SF-TN
This is amazing I'm sad I didn't get to see it live you guys all killed
A mighty session!
just wonderful! ❤
Beautiful y'all!
Respect!
Exceptionnel !!!!!!!!!!
מרי כאן רספקט!!! תודה 🎼🏸
The algorithm obviously knows when there are climax moments in music or performances and intentionally puts announcements in that moment, yet it is worth listening to and seeing these beautiful moments of musical collaboration and genius.
The tone of patrick is at the same lvl of charlie parker. Bless you all for that wonderfull gift
Thanks
Absolutely fantastic!!! Greetings from Poland 🍀🍀🍀
I like seeing them working out the space....
fine bass playing
wow!
Great players=Great music!
The sickest walking bass solos ever on Mr. PC!!! woooh!!
Best one yet… wow! That is some next level stuff…
Damn Larry is amazing
Absolutely relentless
Incredible version of Coltrane's Mr P.C: 1:24:58. Hats off to Mr. Bartley, playing in socks 😎
Interesting concept. The sax leads off with the chorus followed with solos by the piano, bass, and drums. Then, the sax closes with a solo. Beautiful!
It just don’t get better…late at night but can’t turn it off 💤
you know when you have a really good night & you're still thinking about it the next morning w like residual endorphins? yeah that! this was so wonderful! thanks guys :)
1:09:38 WOW! Amazing sequence
Edit: Now 56:45, they edited the video
Didn’t know Bono played killer bass!
🔥🔥🔥
You and Joe and Phil this weekend in PA. My heart is full for those two, and you, sir… you’re like the bubbles in my soda: effervescent, full of surprising, refreshing sparkles. Joe only has cowboy boots. 😂😂 And I’d tell him so myself so he knows I’m kidding,
I defo hear some Canonball in Patrick’s playing..😊
The entire history of the alto saxophone is in Patrick's playing.
16:35 - 16:43 they know each other very very well.
32:10 broooo this setup and the landing of the rythm between all of them was crazy
PLEASE GET JAMES CARTER ON HERE!!! When y’all got His Cousin Regina on here I’m surprised he never got on yet
🔥🔥19:15🔥🔥
I noticed Patrick is using his syos this time instead of his Meyer! Interesting to see how different yet how similar he still sounds. Sounds awesome on both 🔥
패트릭 일본사랑은 대단하네요❤❤
U dudes broke the Due Diligence mold. Boss Jam Structure of allayall is Absolute Perfection.
BTW: Kyle's percussive environment is a high efficiency encompassing liquid music machine with maximum blend and minimum motion.
Glory to God In Heaven !!! Hallelujah to Yeshua !!
Ruach Ha Kodesh is blowing like a hurricane !!
It's the Pinnacle of life to have been able to witness, document and experience this magnificent collaborated energy 💯🎶🔆
Kyle Poole is the first drummer I've seen who does so many things technically wrong and sounds great. When the drummer sits in for the last tune, he does everything right and sounds like thousands of other drummers. He plays well but doesn't contribute anything.
cookin at 1:45:10
OMG Mr. PC
If thou searchest for flight of the bumblebee go to 19:34
Who let him cook, damn that's good af
Last Chinese Drum Feel.. lol😂
I hear some cannonball here -:))
one minute in like, wait where the fuck is his top hihat. kyle also has this psychic way of predicting emmet's comping patterns
29:27
32:10 Telepathic emmet and patrick V2
I swear Emmet always tryhards whenever Pat is in the room
That's called inspiration.

Nice concert.
PS. Is Patrick Bartley playing a special mouthpiece or reed ? I am used to softer sounds on as.
What’s the last song they played?
