      Also a little depressing 😕 ...
      How 🤔 ever far you are on the guitar 🎸.
      There is also so much more to learn ...
      It s an endless yourney.
      And my nature is I like to be able to finish 😌 something.

    Attended a masterclass with this guy about 5 years ago when I was 19. Completely changed how and what I practiced and what I do as a guitar player and composer. He basically called everyone out for not knowing what exactly the major scale can do. He has a great ear and knows what’s he’s talking about but he always keeps it simple in the most complex way.

    • @FlaxeMusic
      @FlaxeMusic 2 года назад +3

      Guitar teacher here. You know this now already from experience but, so many people skirt the more involved major scale stuff thinking they know it all, but there's just so many ways to milk it you can never truly say you do. Barry Harris did the same, un-egoic verbal beatdown followed by demonstration of the difference between someone with true control.
      You hit the nail on the head with that last sentence, to kind of elaborate I think the route to that level requires a firm handle on fundamentals of permutation, from there you're making use of powers (the mathematical exponents kind) to compound your options, like a tree that grows from seed and bifurcates it's branches over time- If you know the major scale everywhere you can form any kind arrangement of chord and generate the rest of the chord scale by moving along the scale degrees. The part that takes the lions share of time is finding some way to manage all the branches and options you gather and put it to work making real music. That's a question I'd love to dig into Kurts mind on, but he'd probably just say it play it a bunch until you have one way to play it then keep playing it.

      I am a fan of Rosen winkel too, but after a solo of Scofield, I thnink it is difficult to not get pale after a few bars, dynamically and rythmically Rosen winkel being a genius still has got somthing to learn from Scofield, choise of note harmonic feel etc etc makes him already great player...

    I never hear this fella 1 time before yesterday, i watch the way he patiently plays, smooth effortless beautiful guitar work, I knew I was going to emulate his patience, I had some weakness and pain big time in my fret hand so playing with the smooth, graceful finger work was perfect for bridging some major obstacles, instead of losing time being unable to play harder. faster. as I was doing at the time, I can rehab atleast my fret arm wrist shoulder, bicep, elbow.

      Max L i guess it would be hell of a mindfuck since the pedal he's using just thickens up everything he plays. i agree it would be amazing tho, to have a transcription, but it wouldnt make any sens if not using the H.O.G. i do recognize some of the chord shape he plays, but its stricly from what i see. by ear, it's much more difficult.

      3:13, changes from G#7 to F#7 soloing on dominant mode - F#7 mixolydian.
      same key? i didnt know there were 2 different dominant chords in one single key.

      Juan2003gtr You say melodic minor, if you heard a #4 and a b6 from 3:03 and 3:13 something's wrong. im arrogant?? so its not being arrogant to tell somebody he's a novice without actually knowing the person, as you expect me to agree... i have no problem being told im mistaken. the problem comes when im not being told why. i bet you'd feel the same way. at least do, and we'll spare each other some time. i'd like to hear you play buddy, have a good one.

    Probably won't be as good, but I think I finally found a use for that iStomp pedal I keep kicking around. Presently programmed for "Angel Choir." I think I can use it for something other than scaring the crap out of band mates, little dogs, and a housewife who thinks cooking involves voodoo and evil, rather than chemisty. 3:>
