Confused went to the link provided an there was a vid talking about lecf tanks but no listings of any for sale ? Can you please provide a link that shows the prices and actual tanks for sale .
I have a 74 cu. ft recently expired Tiger shark tank. Can I send the tank in to get it life extended or do I have to buy someone else tank and My gauges and valves are fine. Do I send my current tank in to them for this? Video kind of confusing on what people can do that already own a tank and just want it extended another 15 years.
What happened to this ? I can't find recertified tanks available anywhere. Is this program still running and if so where are the tanks available to buy ? Thanks!
I see you guys are all out of these LE tanks, my question is, if I get a used tank elsewhere as you seem to be out, could I have it life extended by Digital Wave? Can you provide the details on the average cost of the MAE testing?
I have tanks that were never used or lightly used with year 2000 manufacturer. I have no problem using them for another 15 years, they are like new. I fill my own because stores would balk at the date on them....
Tyler, Great video with a lot of information that will be helpful to all PCP users, even if they don't know it, LOL. The occasional flashes of the text boxes in the video are very helpful for reinforcing the new technical terms and information you are presenting to us. I like that. Well Done! Lloyd
Tyler, on the Pyramyd webpage for these, it shows a tank with a date written via felt tip marker. What does such a date mean? 15 MORE years to go from THAT date, or what?
Great review but, what your saying is even if I buy a regular or a non life extended tank ,either way it will still have to be tested every 5 years correct? Sorry I'm just a bit confused . Thanks.
That's correct. With a brand new tank, you currently have to have it hydro tested every 5 years from the born on date. With an LE tank, it's the same interval but from the Life Extended date.
Hexagon is the name of the company in Colorado. Hexagon sells bottles but they do not come with valves. I've been emailing back and forth with a lady named Kayla. $375 for a 1 hr bottle, plus shipping plus a valve. Depending on shipping you will be at or just above $400, add a $150- $175 for valve and fittings, you are not saving as much as you think. If you have your own bottle, Hexagon will re cert the bottle for $300. Its not as consumer friendly as it sounds. Then you have to send it to Hexagon every 5 years, shipping to and from plus the cost of the test. I'm not ragging on the company or the process, just doing the math.
I got some confusion about buying the Carbon fiber tank. I see some of them say 9L and others are in cu in or cu ft. what is the equivalent of 9L to cu in or cu ft?
However, digital wave states in their promotional video that their certification cost a "few hundred dollars", which for fire departments might be significantly below what they spend on a new tank, but that is hardly attractive when one can buy a new tank from China for $300 delivered.
So basically what you're saying is that the tank has been recertified for 15 years but it's only good for 5 years without being re-examined therefore in my opinion the tank is only good for 5 years correct ?
The tanks are Life Extended for up to an extra 15 years from the date of manufacture. There's no guarantee that it will pass the re-cert 5 years from when it is Life Extended, or 10 years from that date for that matter. Just the same way there is no guarantee that a brand new tank will pass hydro at each of the 5 year intervals it must be tested at. A lot of it comes down to how you take care of it. You keep the tank in good shape, and you should have nothing to worry about, that goes for a new, used or Life Extended tank.
with pcp we are just useing them for air not bring them in a burning building an or dropping them ,wich i am sure happens alot ,but yes used with some life still left is all i need not just a good hydro like some think when a tank life ends at 15 years ,some seem to think if a 2003 tank wich life ends this year 2018 has hydro good for 5 years that the tank is good for another 5 years ,that would be wrong 15 year is it ,an many guys in the pcp on ebay or from ,have ticking time bombs i think ,couse guess what they can fill them there shoe box compressor ,or going to refill guy that looks the other way ,though they should just make them good for 30 years an sell them for pennies on the dollar ,lets face it for fire safety they should not cost so much ,much less for pcp
Digital Wave has told me that the recertification testing on the 5 year intervals will be similar to a hydro test, so in the $30-40 range most likely. Of course, you'll need to factor in shipping the tank to them as well.
there should be a place near you that you can bring a tank to that is or has some life left ,loo up hydro air tanks near you 4500 psi an save on shipping
What would you do if you accidentally drop a tank? Either on the valve system or the bottle wall itself? And thees no evident damage like leaks and such?
If you suspect there is structural damage, you'd want to send it in to be re-tested to be certain. At the very least, a visual test. But keep in mind, these tanks are made to handle the rigors of firefighters running in and out of burning buildings. They can take quite a bit of abuse, not that you should test that.
So IMO the price is too high on these tanks unless you live close to DW. because after 5 years you would have to pay to ship it to DW and then pay whatever the test fee that they charge is (and i bet the fee they charge is alot. Its most like sky high expensive. Not nowhere near the inexpensive 30bucks it cost me to take my tank up the street for rehydro test) So taking all that into consideration No Thanks... Im Good. Ill stick to eBay for my tanks and the shop up the street for my hydros. If you know what your doing concerning eBay tanks thats the best route to go IMO. (There are also ones auctioned from fire depts. you can find great deals on If youre so inclined) For Someone that lives near DW and wouldnt have to ship the tank back and forth it may be worth it to get one of these. depending also on how much DWs reHydro test fee is. Also if DW extends life on tanks for private customers it may be worth going that route as well just depending. I just really dont think the prices these tanks are going for are worth it. Not for me anyway. Of course i would never pay $300 for a ninja ci pony bottle ither and ALOT of people do. So to each his own. Great Info. Tho... Thanks for Sharing. You get a like for your video from me. Bongos need work tho. Keep bangn them. Hehe. Shoot Safe and have a Blessed Day.
DW told me the recert each 5 years will be comparable to a hydro (which is different for everyone), last one cost me $40. They said between $30-40 plus shipping. And quite frankly, shipping shouldn't be too bad to get the tank to them since you'd be sending the tank empty (no hazmat fees). I agree, you can certainly get some good deals on used tanks, but I remember when I got started with PCPs 7-8 years ago, I bought a tank with 3 years left and the fill assembly for about $300. The fill assembly total value is around $150, so I guess that's not bad, and I still use it. But a little over $300 for a 45 cu ft tank with 9 years of life left and the fill assembly is a very solid deal if you ask me, I wish these had been around when I first started with PCPs. It's all about bringing the cost of entry into airgun shooting down, and we hope that this helps....I think it will.
So, the refurbishing company gets them for free, do the cleaning and a couple of "tests", put a new valve and.....the price is only $200 cheaper than a new one? really? something is wrong with this picture.
still way to much money 200.00 less sounds like crap to me ,at say $50.00 a year i would rather buy a used tank that has 3 years left on it for $150.00 vs $750.00 ,so they seem to me add there cost to reman the tanks ,your basically spending the same amount ,not buying this one ,again would rather buy another used tank in 3 years ,for $100.00 buy then
I’ll take the tank with 15 years I’m 60 and if i make it to 75 I’ll buy another one. I always ask myself what plan does Jesus Christ of Nazareth has for me?
Let me know when they throw them away if I can recycle make some money for that aluminum I don't think they throw them away aluminum is aluminum they're not going to be silly to throw out this material when they can recycle cans and beers they can recycle those cylinders so your information I think is a little bit confused I guess you would like to sell your product to the consumer but tell them the truth at least that it will be recycled
Confused went to the link provided an there was a vid talking about lecf tanks but no listings of any for sale ? Can you please provide a link that shows the prices and actual tanks for sale .
Do you need a special adapter other than the one provided on the tank to fill at a scuba or paintball shop?
But this sort of testing is it only available in the USA right? I wonder for scuba cylinders for divers too would this work?
Correct, currently only available in the USA

What pcp air tanks don't have a expiry date?
Besides the small aluminum tanks.
I have tanks that were never used or lightly used with year 2000 manufacturer. I have no problem using them for another 15 years, they are like new. I fill my own because stores would balk at the date on them....
Is this really a thing? I clicked the link but only an info page comes up, no place to order.
Why couldn't you mention how much the 5 year test cost ? That would be 3 test in the extended 15 years plus the cost of the tank .
Exactly

It would be nice if that Service is also in Australia great info guys
Great Video Tyler, Loads of information I was looking for !! Thanks !
Doesn't the cost out way the purchase of the next 15 year tank
Life extension certification
can be explained in 60 seconds.
Not 12 minutes.
Wow. About time. I heard the rumors. And they are about 20 minutes away from me. NICE!
Can I send them my Drader... tank for extended life.. how nuch are we talking.
yep , just take a loan out,,, ehehehhe
Hi. What is the way to discharge the air from a carbon fiber cylinder? It was a long time not used
Ummm, open the freakin' valve????
Great review but, what your saying is even if I buy a regular or a non life extended tank ,either way it will still have to be tested every 5 years correct? Sorry I'm just a bit confused . Thanks.

Tyler Patner ok got it, thanks for the clarification.
Bought one of these but than no one wants to fill it ..they a skeptical..
Exactly.

9l is the 97 cu foot gross or 88cf net or 60 min air tank. all the same
However, digital wave states in their promotional video that their certification cost a "few hundred dollars", which for fire departments might be significantly below what they spend on a new tank, but that is hardly attractive when one can buy a new tank from China for $300 delivered.
Chinese tanks aren't DOT approved.
Acecare has a DOT approved model for a little more.
I’d buy one just for the bongo option

I think id pay the extra 200 and get a full 30
Fantastic!!! A great savings!!

Tyler Patner, I haven't dropped it yet but I just wanted to know just in case, Thanks.
Like this BUT. 24 in hose is NOT long enough....
That's what SHE said.
If you can use steel... use steel. Properly cared for, filled with dry air (!!!) they can last a lifetime. Man up and carry the bottle.
A tank that cost 700.00 good for 15 years means you pay 50.00 per year for the tank. It like a membership.
The tanks cost more than brand new ones with the current date if manufacturer

I just got a good deal on a tank on eBay 80$

They are still too much money considering that they would get thrown away.
Looking sharp friend but why you shaved your bread man thank for good info also
We all like saving money but you can't put a price on that jam session at session at the end of the video. 👍
Okay $200 less for a used for 15 years of life. I will pay full price for a new one with double the life for just two hundred more....
still way to much money 200.00 less sounds like crap to me ,at say $50.00 a year i would rather buy a used tank that has 3 years left on it for $150.00 vs $750.00 ,so they seem to me add there cost to reman the tanks ,your basically spending the same amount ,not buying this one ,again would rather buy another used tank in 3 years ,for $100.00 buy then
Hey, want some help with that hair? 😂
I know you know someone, right?
I’ll take the tank with 15 years I’m 60 and if i make it to 75 I’ll buy another one. I always ask myself what plan does Jesus Christ of Nazareth has for me?
Point is…they can offer tanks for much cheaper. And they don’t have to be scrapped
