Wow, what an incredible VHS tape. Really, I thought it was the best. I think I see a great future in you, making this type of content, and I'm sure you like making Mario Bros. ARGs. I see great talent in this. Great VHS. 👋🏻
I love this! Can we get a version of this video without the applied Audio/Video Filters? Beta's of Mario Games have always been my favorite and one of SMB1 (even if fake) sufficiently peaks my interest! I also like the music, maybe even a rip of this OST? Perhaps I'm gushing a bit =)
I was expecting this to just be some analog horror slop but instead, it's just a really neat fan made mock up. It's like an alternate universe version of Mario 1. Pretty neat stuff. Hopefully more of this are made.
I wonder why they decided to make the background scroll like on smb special in the underground level and make it scroll normally on the overworld level

While this is cool. I can’t help but feel like the fact that the game looks too complete does ruin the while prototype gag. I think for future mockups making the game have jank in the menus and some glitches would 100% boost that prototype work in progress fell. Mostly light glitches and debug menus and mem/cpu usages or something akin to sonic 1’s debug coordinates.

I appreciate that there's no spooky analog horror nonsense, just a cool video.
Don’t really care for the analog horror twists anymore; one person did it then everyone started doing it & it’s stale now

For some reason this looks to me like a fusion between Super Mario Bros. (NES) and Super Mario Land (GB)
Bits of SMB2 as well
It’s a donkey Kong, Mario bros 1983 inspired. You silly

similar to the mario movie where the donkey kong arcade game is just some other game instead of mario

i thought goombas didn’t exist until the last second of development though?

i like how the second level has the Music of the underwater level but different style
the ending animation looks so funny for some reason
fianlly nothing so creepy or spooky something i want to enjoy and relax!
thank you for making this!
the use of Ice Climber sound effects in a Mario game, or Mario game mock-up in this case, scratches an itch I never knew I had
It feels like a legally distinct version of Super Mario Bros, also that 6/4 time signature in the underground theme slaps
The goombas came way later but other than that, very accurate
Exactly.
I wonder why they decided to make the background scroll like on smb special in the underground level and make it scroll normally on the overworld level
I was definitely expecting something creepy
Mario's jump sound effects have their duty cycles switched.
This does really feel like the true Super Mario Bros sequel
Here, I can see how the Goombas were supposed to be based on chestnuts, not mushrooms.

There's so many Mario 64 Beta recreations...I wanna see more SMB1 Beta recreations.
I'm going to need some more proof. I've never heard of this demo before.
Very well made! :D
The fact that we don't have any of the SMB beta/prototype yet makes it seem legitimate and real to some extent. Pretty cool
Something I've immediately noticed, Goombas were added to the game far later on than this.
That 1-2 bassline is epic!
This is amazing and I might have to try this game!!!
