I have been taking Dutasteride since I had a hair transplant. It's now been a year and a half and no more hair has fallen out. I also used minoxidil for a year, but that did not cause more hair growth/volume for me.
I'm not a clinician/do work around pharma industry, but I'd be very wary of this. There are no good trials on it that I could see (one case study does not good data make), and no evidence it's safe - combining meds with the same mode of action sounds like a great way to get crazy side effects. Obviously never f*ck about with meds without speaking to your doctor, but this sounds like a really risky idea.
I do not usually recommend combined use since topical does have some full body absorption leading to a higher overall dose & increased risk of side effects.
@@DrParissis Isn’t the body absorption of topical minoxidil quite small and way less than the impact of raising the dose of oral minoxidil? I.e 1.25 mg oral minoxidil and topical minoxidil would lead to less body absorption than 2.5 mg oral minoxidil alone without the topical minoxidil?
Thank you for the information. In the past, I used topical mino for 15 years, and about a year ago I switched to oral mino 2.5 mg. My doctor advised me to gradually increase up to 5 mg of mino, because there was no improvement, but she warned me that there would be side effects. My question: Is it worth combining Mino topical 5% once a day, with 2.5 mg Mino orally, instead of increasing to 5 mg orally, to improve the treatment, and also to avoid side effects?
@@almedogjurgji the research suggests that DHT CONTRIBUTES to sexual functioning - alongside other hormones like Oestrogen. Crashing it to zero is certainly not recommended for this reason!
Hey doctor, I’ve been on oral finasteride for 5 months and oral minoxidil for 6. For the last 7 weeks I’ve been shedding an ungodly amount of hairs, a lot of them being my longer and thicker follicles with bulbs on the ends. What do I do?
Shedding doesn’t necessarily equate to hair loss but it could be that oral minoxidil pushing out less healthy hairs in replacement for new ones. Often patients get worried about sheds say weeks after starting, but really these medications take months to actually affect the hairs, and this could be what’s happening with you.
hello, i have a concern about topical minoxidil: it gets absorbed by the scalp, the skin, and goes into the blood. I wonder if it's bad cause apparently it can have some bad side effects. So i don't know if i want to use it ...
I've seen papers saying that 1.25mg are AS effective as 5% topical and can confirm OM was great for my crown. Btw, have you noticed any aesthetic changes to your skin since starting? I was on OM for 3 years and think, but not sure, that it might have caused my skin to loosen and give me a puffy my face a bit. Its been so long I dont really remember if there may have been other variables involved such as weight loss. But i do recall some discussion about minoxidil and collagen. Also, have you seen these studies saying the OM might interfere with muscle protein synthesis?
Hello! 1.25mg will definitely do the trick. This video is for those who are really trying to push the envelope and maximize hair gains. I’m glad the 1.25mg was good for your crown though. I haven’t personally noticed any changes with minoxidil to the face. Although I am aware of them and will keep an eye out for it. I wasn’t able to find the paper you are referring to re muscle protein synthesis. Feel free to link it though because I would be interested to see this.

How much and how hard and deep you must micronedling before you put topical minoxidil 5% on youre crown regia? If you puting every day minoxidil ,does that mean that you must every day microneedling ? Because scalp is red and irritated of microneelding...?
Once a week starting at 0.5mm depth gradually increasing every 2 months to 0.75mm then 1mm then 1.25mm then 1.5mm. Front to back of scalp 20 times. Some mild pain and irritation is fine and expected.
Great vid, thanks! Do yo know if there's any evidence for oral min/fin plus microneedling? I've not yet started stabbing myself and don't especially want to if there's no point 😅
@@alifloydtv hello - so microneedling is not going to help if taking oral minoxidil. It is only beneficial with topical minoxidil for 2 reasons a) it helps more minoxidil penetrate skin and b) it may increase sulfotransferase activity for better topical minoxidil activity. If taking oral, you don’t need it to penetrate the skin better obviously, and the liver has plenty of sulfotransferase to ensure good oral minoxidil activity.
Hi there. Had Hair transplant in January. Been on 1mg finasteride since with no sides and just started on 1.25mg oral minoxidil been on it over a week but have noticed some uncomfortable bloating / water retention. Will this go away as my body adjusts? Or is it a sign that I should stop the medication? Or can I perhaps lower the dosage even further? Can I still get hair growth benefits from a dosage lower than 1.25mg? Any help or advice appreciated. Thank you :)
Not a clinician/work around pharma industry, but I don't see why there would be. The reason Fin and Min work together as a regimen is their different modes of action. Doing the same thing in 2 different ways just introduces uncertainty about what dose you're really getting, and ups your risk of side effects. A safer route would likely be to talk to your doctor about, say, going from 2.5mg to 5mg oral dose, then seeing how that goes for you. Again, not a clinician.
It can increase the heart rate slightly just because of a reduction in blood pressure. You would need to be applying a very large volume of solution to have a signficant increase in heart rate though. So it's not a common worry with the drug.
Im taking fin 1mg 3 days in a row and then 1mg dut. Once a week laser cap. I have stable hair loss but want to regrow my crown. Slight progression again of hair loss. I’m willing try oral minoxidil, 2.5 daily? And should I just go daily dut instead? Do hair laser work? Is there anything new to look into for hairloss?
Hi doc, i've been using topical minoxidil 5% and finasteride 1m for my crown if ever i regrow back my hairs can i quit minoxodil and just continue with the fin, does my hair won't fall again?
Once you stop minoxidil, the hair you gained from it will likely be lost. Continuing finasteride will delay the loss of these hairs (as there will be less DHT to miniaturise and destroy them), but will not stop it for good.
@@DrParissis so what are best thing to do doc, is it okay if i take 5mg of finasteride cut into 4 so it's gonna be 1.25 mg fin then i'll take it alternately or every other day not everyday?
Great video mate!
You sound like you are from England
Can you do a video on Testosterone replacement therapy and if/how it affects hair loss please?
Great idea!
I don't have any questions, I just wanted to say thank you for making this video.

Reverse for me, crown is so stubborn, hairline came back to baseline essentially. Mid scalp thin as well but not noticeable when dry
What should we do for Front

What about doing PRP for crown hair loss?
evidence shows it gives minor improvements. Not worth the cost for most people.
I used dutastride tablet 🙏 1 week which tablet eat
Im 17 year old and my crown hair is thinning. What can i do . Im so depressed
Don't eat junk. Eat green vegetables more and salad
Do not drink tea and coffee, and drink water 4litrs per day
Take proper sleep like 8hrs in a day.
