A big thank you to Simon for coming on the channel and sharing his experience through balding. A few key things we spoke about that didn't make the final cut. Simon really threw himself in at the deep end when he had the first cut. He had a day out meeting good mates in town already organised for later that day. This left no opportunity for him to hide away with his new look which is a great thing. It allowed him to test those assumptions that people might freak out about it. When they didn't it allowed him to forget those fears and crack on. Nice one Simon 🤝 Forever grateful.
I shaved all my hair off to a zero guard two days ago and wet shaved it down to skin today, like Simon said, I didn’t realise how much I thought about hiding my balding till I didn’t have to anymore. Everything from showering with enough time for my hair to dry and hair spraying it just right, to wearing hats and not being able to take them off, dreading taking hoodies off, the wind, the rain, swimming, crash helmets. The list of worries is never ending and it’s all gone now with nothing more that a few flicks of a razor and I’ve had nothing but positive feed back about it. I’d never of been able to do it if it wasn’t for @baldcafe and you Harry. Cheers mate. Lot of people don't realize that most men end up shaving it off so they feel better/more confident. See a lot of comments like "he still has a few more years left, he didn't have to shave yet", if it is effecting your mental health the best thing you can do is just buzz it down now and be happy!

the earlier the acceptance of the balding/thinning hair the better, at least that was in my case. Mine was a very gradual thinning over 10 years or so. I started noticing thinning hair in my mid-20s. I didn't really have to start buzzing it, but i did it anyway to get used to it. I would occasionally grow it out and style it in my mid to late 20s, but i found that too time-consuming and expensive. Everyone around me was already used to me having a buzzed cut during that time. Now in my early 40s, it may be time to begin more of a shaved head look, rather than buzzed cut. But this time around, i'm not even worried about shaving my head, with the exception of possibly nicking my scalp on the first go round.
Man, when my hair was thinning I didn't realize. Then i got a buzz cut cuz my hair was messy then after i got the haircut i was devastated after realizing that my hair was thinning. I was 19 when i first realized it. Today im 21 and im getting a buzz cut again. I have accepted that my hair is like this now but still hoping that my hair will become thick again. 😅
same for me, shaved it out with the bare razor and I've never cared for how my hair looked. I've never really insecure about hair anymore after shaving it all off. Now my haircuts are simple, and thin.
I trimmed off all my hair today. I’ve had shoulder length (or longer) hair, for all of my life. Your work helped me feel alright, feel good about my choice. I’ve recorded it and will edit the video once I get home at the end of the month. With a shoutout to you and your channel ofc. Thank you 🙏🏻
I personally feel that the clean shaved with a beard look is pushed WAY too much in the bald community ! Buzzcut will look much better than clean shaver on the majority of us balding men
Really depends what you're working with. A #3 buzzcut may not work cause thinning may still appear obvious to you. And when you get to a #1, imo, that's pretty much like being clean shaved. But I agree, I'd rather go with a buzzcut just cause, I can't imagine having to shave my head every 2-3 days. But we'll see. Life is weird.
I was a bit self conscious before I shaved my head. Now I wish I had shaved my head when I had a full head of hair. Its mostly about how you carry yourself, not just looks. Women like confidence and other men repect it. AND IF THEY DONT... F THEM. You dont want them in your life anyway. I tried every razor and every clipper, all price ranges. I probably spent a few $1000s trying out diffent devices over the years. So maybe try this 1st....The best I found is the Walh Finale. Use it every day or two. As close to a razor smooth as you can get without any irritation or bumps. If I get lazy and go past 2 days, i buzz it with Wahl T clippers 1st, then use the Finale. Also, as odd as it might seem, I still use shampoo. This keeps your scalp from getting oily and too shiny. Hope the above helps someone. I wish I heard it before I went on my bolding journey. God bless
Glad I’m not the only one haha. This is to a tee how I’m feeling right now and boy am I glad I stumbled upon this video. Im gonna go on my next visit with a 4 or 3. I think I’ll feel more confident and not toss a hat on everytime I leave the house
The thing is that he's a diffuse thinner and still has some kind of a hairline. It's a whole different story for those with a horseshoe, who completely lost their hair on top. When he buzzed his hair he still has a dark shade, when horseshoe buzz his head it looks bad, you have to completely shave it with a razor.
@@alexvolyk5146 you’d be surprised. I have the same sort of hair but not as progressed. It all hit when I turned 23 in the span of 4 months, lost 40% density. and basically has stayed the same since (28 now). I just do a number 2 up top and a number one on the sides and it looks good. It starts looking like shit in the number 5 or 6 territory.
Head shaving is painful, and you have to shave often. I don't have a smooth head, so maybe I'm in a worse situation than most people. For a while, I shaved once a week using a zero guard, and that was painful and caused bleeding. It would be much worse to attempt a clean shave that leaves no hair left. Not everyone has a good face and head shape like Baldcafe.
I'm 39. I buzzed mine last year in lockdown. I don't have the darkest eyebrows in the world, and I have to say I wasn't that happy with how it looked buzzed. I grew it back again (took months). Whether I like it or not, I'll have to buzz it sooner or later. I reckon I have two or three years left before I'll have to buzz it and keep it like that.
My hair started receding when I was like 19 but luckily it stopped (now 27) and hasn't gotten any worse but I knew it was there and I hated it so I buzzed the lot and everybody commented on how my hairline wasn't even bad but I just felt better with it gone
Here's some confidence for you guys. You may have shit hair. I have the same hair problem but Im also 5'3. So do t worry guys theres always someone who has it worse. At least you guys can do the buzz cut. Get buff and a beard and you'll be fine. I don't really have that option but hey. At least you guys aren't me haha. Chin up guys.
A lot of men would be surprised at how much younger they will look and confident they will feel with a buzz cut/shaved head. It is extremely low maintenance and they will save a lot of money as well. A 2 for the price of 1 deal
Thank god I found this video. So pleased to hear Simons words matched mine verbatim. I know I have been lucky having made it to 52 but its still a horrible thing to experience, especially as the rest of the body is fit enough to keep up with the 20/30 year olds. Now booked for a buzz tomorrow, thank you. Hopefully, I can get rid of the cap as well!
My situation is a little worse than yours, You should try PRP (average cost) or Micro needling - cheap and effective, helped me a looooot, it will increase hair density - I do micro needling with hair growth serum (not minoxidil)
I recently shaved my head bald. I didn’t have any signs of hair loss until May of this year. By June, my crown was visibly thin. By august, almost all my hair was gone from my crown. I then noticed my temples were thinning. I was in complete distraught that my hair could disappear this quickly. When I scheduled a DR’s appointment in July, I was unable to see him until October.
Amazing vid guys! The maintenance of the buzz cut/bald is something you you have to do every couple of days or it looks naff which can be annoying but all good x
I dread the possibility of my hair going thin. I can't grow a beard so if I shave my head I'll just look like an egg. I'm turning 30 this year and my hair seems fine but there's always that nagging feeling that it could happen.
i'm a woman so i don't know how it feels to be balding however i have pcos and within the last year i've noiced my hair has got thinner and maybe sometimes i feel its a bit thin at the sides almost like the beginnings of a widows peak maybe i just imagining it but since it started thinning it did get me worried and i'm not high matience and my confidence is already rock bottom some times i dont even have a mirror in my room. ive tried thickening shampoo and it didnt even work (but if i did loose it for some reason or had a bald patcch i'd rtaher shave it off) but if i were a man and i was balding i'd shave it off i'd rather be bald than balding. same as my partner if he was balding id rather he shaved it than be patchy its so much cleaner and less to stress and worry about. well done to all the men out there who have braved the shave they look a millions times better. better to be bald and confident than stressed and loosing.
Sat in the staffroom at work looking at my hair on Facetime and yeah...it's time. Absolutely appalling when an 8-year-old says, 'Sir, you're going bald.'
It's the right time to shave it off when it's bothering you everyday because you are trying to hide an increasing problem, and consequently it's affecting your mental health. He probably could have hung onto it for another year or 2, but at the cost of living with something he was clearly insecure about. Noe he looks good with it buzzed off and doesn't have to constantly manage the balding insecurity.
@@Baldcafe omg so happy u responded. i'm nearly 16, and although im' not balding, my hair is thin (not extremely tho). whenever between classes i go outside, the wind messes me up. 😭 Fml, have a freaking weird skull because they used something like a vacuum attached to my head to suck me out of my mom. Buzz cuts, hell any cut is weird. And now I have thinning hair. Real party.
I'm 34 and have a really good head of hair with the normal receding corners, it was very long about 2 hours ago, now its buzzed now to a grade 4, my 7 year old joined me in doing it. So I give it another 2 weeks before I go shorter. Its only hair guys we will all lose it eventually. Plus it saves around 200 quid a year not going the barbers.
I just had a really really short buzz behind me now it's a bit over a month ago but struggle again. My hair just looks shit.. thin, dry, dull. huge receiding line. Not much actual balding on top or back crown but it's still just not good looking. But the really really short buzz was also not it.. always had to wear a hat. I look ACTUALLY fucking dumb bald. Huge fourhead and big ears just get even extremer. Head shape and side profile with no hair also the ugliest thing I've ever seen on a human.. I have even lighter blonde hair than you in the video when cut really short and you can't even see this light shadow with a hairline like you had here at 3:13.. On me it just looks completely bald as if theres no hair left even when I leave 5mm... and beard is also not an option to make the balding style look fresh. Still really sparse beard growth with 26. My overall body hair is really fine and sparse I don't know.. Guess I got the worst genetics on earth
To be truly confident, you don’t need to cover bald spots and you don’t need to shave it. You do whatever style you like to have with whatever hair is left.
get more nutrition and increase scalp blood circulation everyday to feed your hair. thinning is worse in poor circulated areas for a reason. the key is treatment everyday. try putting msm and coffee on the scalp.
@@yoyo21926 Thanks, I've tried caffeine shampoos but they didn't do much, ended up just drying out my scalp even more. Im pretty sure it's genetics cuz my dad and uncle both thinned about the same age. I also have IBD though so that seems to have made it a bit worse than theirs.
@@denbyscott5745 yeah, shampoos are annoying, plus the caffeiine doesntt stay long as you wash it off. you can leaave coffee in your hair all day so it works better. takee saw palmetto once per day to slow hair shed. it limits dht. as for bowel issues. try eating bentonite clay to sooth the gut. glutamine powder, msm and buffered vit c will keep your insides strong too, like elastic to stop further damage. copper and zinc in a 1:30 ratio is also the building blocks to a healthy body.
@@denbyscott5745Caffeine shampoo also made my her super dry. I don’t know if it works or not, but I can’t really style my hair after using it. It looks dry and thinner.

same for me, shaved it out with the bare razor and I've never cared for how my hair looked.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Brave and smart
I personally feel that the clean shaved with a beard look is pushed WAY too much in the bald community ! Buzzcut will look much better than clean shaver on the majority of us balding men
Really depends what you're working with. A #3 buzzcut may not work cause thinning may still appear obvious to you. And when you get to a #1, imo, that's pretty much like being clean shaved. But I agree, I'd rather go with a buzzcut just cause, I can't imagine having to shave my head every 2-3 days. But we'll see. Life is weird.
Really short buzz looks better 1/6in or 1/8in max, like head stubble
It depends. If you lost most of you hair then it might look a bit unclean.
People always say they gotta go gym and get huge now. You don’t need to do that purely because you’re bald
@@wasteman3259 nah. It's only if u want to increase your overall attractiveness, when u think baldness decreased it.
Thanks for this ...every conversation I have had with myself over the past few months ...thanks
God bless
Looks Good On You Man.👑
It looked good at a grade 3 as well. Shows you owning it but can still style it with a buzz and fade
Sucks seeing my hair recede not yet thinning on top yet boy does it suck
The buzz cut suits him, he as great eyebrows and eyes which carries it off well
Harry James, you're a great listener.
Thank You my friend 🤝
Glad I’m not the only one haha. This is to a tee how I’m feeling right now and boy am I glad I stumbled upon this video. Im gonna go on my next visit with a 4 or 3. I think I’ll feel more confident and not toss a hat on everytime I leave the house
The thing is that he's a diffuse thinner and still has some kind of a hairline. It's a whole different story for those with a horseshoe, who completely lost their hair on top. When he buzzed his hair he still has a dark shade, when horseshoe buzz his head it looks bad, you have to completely shave it with a razor.
And then you switch to razor and move on from there
Not for long, he'll lose this dark shade in two years.
The grass is always greener
Head shaving is painful, and you have to shave often. I don't have a smooth head, so maybe I'm in a worse situation than most people. For a while, I shaved once a week using a zero guard, and that was painful and caused bleeding. It would be much worse to attempt a clean shave that leaves no hair left. Not everyone has a good face and head shape like Baldcafe.
Best dicision he ever made
@@tagada7 not sure what you mean?
@@tagada7 doesn't bother me tbh I shave it right down with the guard off. The shadows no worse than when you shave your face
Looks great Simon. Enjoy the freedom.
Great editing and great video. Keep going Harry ✊🏻
Thank you 🙌
I've just buzzed mine for the same reason. It's so nice not to be obsessing whilst looking in the mirror.
I feel the same and I have a extremely atypical skull , à huge dent in the crown , it's extremely ugly . Everybody told me the same
A lot of men would be surprised at how much younger they will look and confident they will feel with a buzz cut/shaved head. It is extremely low maintenance and they will save a lot of money as well. A 2 for the price of 1 deal
I actually looked older when I buzzed it.
I have a huge dent on my crown , mg skull is disgusting , I want to kill myself
Great vid!
This guy can still keep his hair. Just do derma roller everyday, light pressure, until redness, don't bleed, over all the thinning area.
should have jumped all over finasteride and minoxidil --- im killing it here with hair similar to yours
Why didn’t you try minoxidil and finasteride??
How your hair now
@@SumitGaming- pretty bad now. It’s bald
Me too mate. Mine looks grand if I grow it out, apply product etc… excellent. But….I swim, motorbike helmets ..etc..etc…awful.
you living a great life then bro
These are success stories right cuz he looks good to get out of here with this
Amazing vid guys!
The maintenance of the buzz cut/bald is something you you have to do every couple of days or it looks naff which can be annoying but all good x
It is what it is. I love being bald.
I dread the possibility of my hair going thin. I can't grow a beard so if I shave my head I'll just look like an egg. I'm turning 30 this year and my hair seems fine but there's always that nagging feeling that it could happen.
it doesnt magically happen. if you notice hair loss, get natural products that increase blood circulation.
Good for you that you have a nice proportional head shape. Not everyone of us as lucky as you are. I am a bit jealous 😀
I’m thinning as well, I was wondering if going for a 3 on top with a fade on the sides would be a good look?
i'm a woman so i don't know how it feels to be balding however i have pcos and within the last year i've noiced my hair has got thinner and maybe sometimes i feel its a bit thin at the sides almost like the beginnings of a widows peak maybe i just imagining it but since it started thinning it did get me worried and i'm not high matience and my confidence is already rock bottom some times i dont even have a mirror in my room. ive tried thickening shampoo and it didnt even work (but if i did loose it for some reason or had a bald patcch i'd rtaher shave it off) but if i were a man and i was balding i'd shave it off i'd rather be bald than balding. same as my partner if he was balding id rather he shaved it than be patchy its so much cleaner and less to stress and worry about. well done to all the men out there who have braved the shave they look a millions times better. better to be bald and confident than stressed and loosing.
I think I’m ready to jump the fence. Just wondering how frequently you go to the barber to maintain it?
Sat in the staffroom at work looking at my hair on Facetime and yeah...it's time. Absolutely appalling when an 8-year-old says, 'Sir, you're going bald.'
You look great 👍😎❤️
I’m literally in this dudes situation now. Getting buzz cut tomorrow.
You are both lucky because you have good features for a bald head. If you have sticky out ears like me, it won't look so good without hair.
You have the perfect hairline for a transplant or micro pigmentation
I have his hair just a tad bit thicker in the middle, but thinner in the crown. I thought he looked better with a #3
i needed this
Hope it helped King 👍
@@Baldcafe omg so happy u responded. i'm nearly 16, and although im' not balding, my hair is thin (not extremely tho). whenever between classes i go outside, the wind messes me up. So I was considering getting a buzzcut, i'm still on the fence tho. Apparently some glasses don't fit the look of a buzzcut, and if that is true, just to give you a video idea if u needed one, glasses that look good and don't for buzzcuts.
again thank you so much, the channel is so empowering
Taking off the hair was the best thing he could do, shaving it off is always the correct choice to make
you could get SMP to fill in those thinning areas
At 6:53 he should of started scalp massaging, and used a 1.5 mm dermaroller. Along with some oils with a shampoo brush.
Too much to do. He made the best decision by just shaving it off.
Man I’m 16 years old and I’m having the same issue at the back of my head it’s thinning really bad a lot of people have told me that I’m balding and I don’t know what to do I want to get a buzz but what if it’s more noticeable.
Simon buy a clipper you do not need a barber anymore and you could clipper your eye brows just a little bit shorter and see how that looks .
But the gym, feel conscious, not wanting to take the jacket off because the hair will go everywhere, I get that.
That guy was born to be bald!!!! He is so handsome!!! 😲
im really struggling mentally, tons of hair on the side of my head with thinning at the top. dont know if I should shave my head or try to get a fue transplant
He looks like man Utd defender luke Shaw when he shaved it down to 3 guard
What do you do when you have good hair growth, and you just need to shave it?
Still try to find a fool proof tutorial of buzz cutting myself.
😭 Fml, have a freaking weird skull because they used something like a vacuum attached to my head to suck me out of my mom.
Buzz cuts, hell any cut is weird. And now I have thinning hair. Real party.
I feel that.
Prat!
Simon looks great! More proof that scalp hair is unnecessary!
I feel this bro
Looks like you think this buddy. You may be being just a tad down on yourself, no ? Sure you have things going for you
I've been here just 10 subscribers only but now 100k😊
For real? were you number 10?
Yes!
I have thinning hair and I believe any hair. even extremely short, looks so much better than completely bald.
To be truly confident, you don’t need to cover bald spots and you don’t need to shave it. You do whatever style you like to have with whatever hair is left.
What guard do I use to not see my thick scalp?
Love ur self confidence but my boy friend same situation here but our village so how to handle this problem 🤔
No other options. You both have to face this.Maximum people will ignore it after few years.
Tell him to go fully bald just like me
You could get a good looking flat top with your hair loss pattern.
Our worst enemy’s are wind, fluid and taking jumpers off
I just found this channel after being curious about doing the same. Thinning for years. I wonder if I should record it or something?
I'm 18 and mines already in about the same state as the image at 2:35.....
get more nutrition and increase scalp blood circulation everyday to feed your hair. thinning is worse in poor circulated areas for a reason. the key is treatment everyday. try putting msm and coffee on the scalp.
He should have just gotten smp for density
Facts
What’s smp?
Did u have try PRP traitement hair injection ?
