I enjoy the music reactions, even the ones highlighting bands that I don't personally care for. It's interesting to see the development of Diane's tastes. They're always demonetized, though, which makes Patreon and RUclips channel memberships essential for this type of content to continue.
The phrase "motley crew" long predates the band Mötley Crüe (with the obligatory metal umlauts over the O and U). Hehehe #1... Chewie has good taste. As far as the genre, I would place them on the pop side of metal, like most of the 80's hair metal bands. The genre was also called "glam metal" - lots of hairspray, makeup, and Spandex.
The venue is the Whisky a Go Go, a famous club on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. It had been an iconic music spot since the 1960s, but in the 1980s it was the epicenter of the LA metal scene - hosting bands like Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Poison, Ratt, etc. Hehehe #2 - "romantical video." Yes, her former husband Tommy Lee is the drummer. Hehehe #3 - "love note to the band itself" - true, the song seemed very boastful. As a side note, I am a bit surprised that you caught the lyrics, since you likely haven't been exposed to a lot of metal from the period, and the words can get lost in the mix, with so many competing sounds.
The source you are reading from is very wrong. Vince Neil did not pass away in 1984. He is still alive 40 years later in 2024. Razzle from Hanoi Rocks did die in the car crash, but Vince Neil survived. He was charged with DUI (driving while under the influence) and vehicular manslaughter, but only served a few days in jail.
For those present during the Nikki Sixx overdose, you have run across Slash previously. He was the guitar player for Guns N' Roses, usually seen wearing a top hat (he did the solo outside of the church, if you remember the video from them you reacted to a while back).
The "destroying hotel rooms" thing really got started with The Who in the 1960s (you reacted to their song "My Generation" in one of your earlier music reactions. Their drummer Keith Moon made trashing hotel rooms an art form, and The Who was banned from several hotel chains. Led Zeppelin followed suit and also destroyed many a hotel room.

If you feel like going down a related rabbit hole, I would suggest checking out some Alice Cooper in the future. He was sort of a 1970s precursor to glam metal, but he took it more in a mild horror direction. His live shows were very theatrical (and still are - I’ve seen him perform a few times in recent years). In my opinion, his music is superior. Possibly just my personal tastes, though. He has a long library of songs. I'd go with "School's Out," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," "Under My Wheels," "Hello Hooray," "Poison," or "Billion Dollar Babies." I also have a soft spot for his ballad "You and Me" from his underrated "Lace and Whiskey" album.
The band called Sweet is another influence on glam metal. You may have heard their song "Ballroom Blitz". Others to check out include "Fox on the Run," "Love is Like Oxygen," and "Little Willy."

I met Sixx in an elevator in Milwaukee while on my way to a family members wedding. Talk about a strange encounter. I'm wearing a suit and he was on his way to a sound check for a Milwaukee gig and we were in the same hotel. I sheepishly asked, "Are you....Nikki Sixx?" I was totally into Motley Crue all through high school. Their music still gets your heart pumping.

Hi Diane! Motley Crue was a quintessential 80s Big Hair Metal Band. They burnt out on drugs in the 80s but got sober and came back in the early 90s. Vince Neil isn't dead, he's just old and fat like the rest of us. Fun Fact: They actually collaborated with that Christian Metal Band Stryper for a song once, that was fairly decent! Nikki Sixx wrote this song about his resuscitation following a drug overdose while using speed and several other drugs along with alcohol. He was literally declared dead before the EMT made one last effort by kickstarting Nicki's heart- thus the title. According to Nicki, as soon as he was released medically, he immediately went to score more drugs. It's one of many crazy but true legendary stories surrounding Motley Crue and its members. The video concept features dangerous behavior and stunts involving high velocity as a metaphor for Nicki's addiction to speed. Crashing and burning is a repetitive theme in the video to represent Nicki's brush with death..

This song is a very good one to react to. I can think of others as well, like: Girls, Girls, Girls, Shout At the Devil, Looks that Kill. Some of those early songs will show an influence from another band you reacted to; KISS! I did see the tour where Crue opened for KISS a few years back! Vince Neil did not pass away. Tommy Lee played his drums in a cage for one song that went up to the rafters of the auditorium and turned upside down and went to the center of the place as he did a drum solo and he continued as it slowly moved back to the stage. CRAZY! They were fun, full of energy, and put on a great show.

Hi Diane, glad to see you're listening to all kinds of new music. Motley Crue's first two albums are their best in my opinion," Too fast for love" and "Shout at the devil", The rest I could pretty much care less about anymore. I would love to see you do something off of those two though. 🌹💖

I remember watching a documentary the band put out way back in the late 80's that Vince Neil (lead singer) said they were all sitting around one day in the studio or something like that and a older guy walked by and said "Well, isn't this a Motley looking Crew" and then Vince commented that "That would be a great name for the band."

They were awesome they were one of the bands in the 80s that you had to see you had to go see him cuz they were just so awesome so much energy so much speed so much sound they were10 times louder than any band out there I've seen them four times and I seen the last one here in the 2000 and I wouldn't waste the money to go see him cuz it's nothing like it used to be

    "Not a phone is sight".
This was circa 1989, maybe 1990, and cell phones were either very large or plugged into your car lighter.
You would have seen actual Bic cigarette lighters used during ballads.
Certainly no integrated into phones yet.
Great song and fun watching you react. Keep it up!
