Y’know with a bit of imagination, this could be footage from a universe where the American Revolution failed.
In that case, all the players would have removed their caps 🧢
That universe exists. It’s called “Canada”.

Don’t forget the Duke of Edinburgh
Wow America, you're the best. Honestly. Thank you for your kindness, your tolerance and your decency. You are truly a noble friend to us Brits.
Love the enthusiasm and welcoming spirit. America is so good at that. I mean that respectfully.
I don't think we're welcoming at all. Idol worship is just a part of the culture, unfortunately.

Yeah we’re just the best at everything
@Mark Smith Sorry for the self loathing, Dr. Phil. I am an American, and I spend half of each day listening to people explain why we need to keep all the immigrants out. Again, not very welcoming at all. We just worship certain idols like I said.
Enrico Pallazzo’s performance was extraordinary.
Great reference
Hey! It's Enrico Pallazzo!
They better cover this in The Crown.
Would be a cool episode for sure
So cool for 41 to take her to a ball game. There is nothing more quintessentially American than going down to the ballpark.
FDR taught her father how to eat a hot dog!
maybe 30 years ago there was nothing more quintessentially American than going to a ball game, now I would say our weekly mass shootings is what is "Quintessentially American"
She actually attended a college football game in the 1950s on one of her first visits to America, North Carolina vs. Maryland for all curious ("Wonderful" was her reaction).

@@Adventureboys24 it’s a reference to the classic comedy Naked Gun, where the Queen attends a baseball game at the end and a hypnotized baseball player tries to kill her. It’s a great movie.
@@thatguywhosayshi7021 thanks I need to watch that movie
We all know her first game was the infamous Angels vs Mariners game when the umpire Enrico Palazzo tackled Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson and I don’t wanna even talk about the hostage situation
“Hey, it’s Enrico Palazzo!”
Wasn't that the match where Joe West got thrown out for arguing a previous ejection?
Was that the game where OJ Simpson fell off the upper deck in a wheelchair?
And they played at Dodger Stadium too. The nerve!
Wasn't the anthem sung by the famous tenor Enrico Pallazzo?
He was a bit off his game that day.
On the occasion of Her Majesty's Royal Visit, please welcome internationally renowned opera star Enrico Palazzo! Ladies and Gentlemen, let us honor America, as Mr. Palazzo will now sing our National Anthem...
Naked gun 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Funniest scene in movie history
Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth 🤍🕊️
H.W. Bush was quite a youthful 66/67 in 1991. Easily could've been mistaken for a man in his early fifties or late forties.
Nah he didn't look that young maybe late 50's.
bruh look at prince phillip he was like 70 here and he looked young af
Yup. Adrenochrome will do that
That would be so awesome to see the Queen and the President at a baseball game!!! I am sure it was an experience for the Queen and Prince Phillip as well. And even though we don't have a royal family in the US, I think the fans appreciated and respected her. I am glad they were so welcoming.
So she went to a baseball game in America before she went to a pub back home. That is remarkable.
I grew up in Baltimore and I'm pretty sure this was also the last season for Memorial Stadium @ 33rd St. in Waverly. Damn I miss the early 90's. Man time goes by so fast. Barbara Bush is gone, Bush Sr. is gone, Prince Philip is gone and now Queen Elizabeth II is gone. They looked so young in this video and now they're all gone. I don't even want to go through the O's list and A's list in this video to figure out who's gone because it is just too much.
Time goes by fast -- treasure every moment.
Anyone remember who won this game?
According to baseball almanac, the A’s won 6-3. Bob Welch was the winning pitcher, Jeff Ballard got the loss.
Times are so bad now comparing to back then
Fun fact: Prince Phillip was apparently supposed to do the first pitch at this game but didn't understand baseball
25 people didn't watch til the end
That’s true it was part of the itinerary. Mind you Prince Philip was 70 in 1991. His pitching days were over a while ago lol
rest in peace Queen Elizabeth
Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth the 2nd
I’m just here for the Naked Gun jokes
Yo también, buscando a Frank Drebin...
Absolutely 💯 inspired by The Naked Gun. The Queen had a sense of humor.
Where's Lieutenant Frank Drebbin?
Bummer it was in 91 at memorial and not a few years later at Camden Yards
So Ray Lewis, Johnny Unitas, Cal Ripken Jr and Elizabeth II were at the same place at various different times.
"Look!! It's Enrico Palozzo!!!"
Too bad the camera was at the wrong angle to capture the Queen...
Enrico Palazzo saved her life.
Out of both teams only 2 players had enough class to remove the hats and that was Reggie Jackson and Cal Ripken Jr.
Hall Of Fame guys !!!
Enough class? I don’t think it matters too much
4:37 Ripken Jr. did not remove his hat. His father, who went first, did.
I know, I feel so horrible for the poor queen who had to suffer the horrible fate of *checks notes* meeting a group of people wearing hats.
Rest In Peace Queen Elizabeth II
Hey that’s Enrico Palazso!
No game without him singing the SSB !!!
The queen and the bushes are so lucky they got to meet Rickey.
I love how Reggie took his hat off
I like how Reggie took his hat off and Cal
It's called being respectful.
Rickey Henderson shaking hands with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. I didn’t think my brain would ever have to process this. Wow. That actually happened
Completely agree. And the Bushes as well! All in one
Lol love seeing the people who are oblivious to the naked gun jokes.
Long live Her Majesty The Queen!
She’s taking it literally.
Man, do I have something to tell y’all..

@@rainbowruler6453 she was queen for 70 years, and outlived two years after the comment. She took it to heart
The A's won 3-6 despite the fact that the only home runs were by Orioles Randy Milligan and Craig Worthington. Bob Welch got the win over Jeff Ballard. Eckersley saved it.
Reggie!! Class act he jnows respect! Wish rest of the team would have done the same!!
Hello
Absolutely! Class act all the way!
Well it was the least he could do since he tried to assassinate her at Dodger Stadium...
But he tried to kill her last time!
I am honored that Queen Elizabeth stepped in Baltimore, wish they had moved to Camden Yards early enough for her to see that.
Three years after the release of Naked gun Her Majesty actually attends a ball game.
And reuniting with Reggie Jackson
“Naked Gun” was so ahead of its time. This is fun, though.
Didn't her majesty also attend an Mariners/Angels game in 1988?
Is this where the naked gun scene was shot
I think they had a bloody good time!
Rip free and honest commentating
It’s not bowing and scraping. It’s just respect
At least Ricardo Montalban & Robot Reggie Jackson weren't there!
The American game of baseball has its ancestral origins from the English stick-and-ball games of rounders and cricket. Somehow, it’s rare to see Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh to attend the A’s/Orioles baseball with President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush back in 1991.
I was more entertained by the announcers than the video
I remember they ate hot dogs and truly enjoyed them at a baseball game. Though i can not recall if it was this game or not. Rest in peace forever loved Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip💖💐🕊️
I saw on a documentary when the Queens mom and dad visited the United States in 1939, they got to visit with president Roosevelt and were hosted at a picnic and someone said, "You can't serve hot dogs to the King and Queen of England," and they said that is exactly what we are serving. And it turns out the King and Queen had a great time and loved the hot dogs!
This is that famous game where Reggie Jackson tried to kill the queen but was foiled by what people thought was opera singer Enrico Pallazzo, right?
This is in my recommendations now 😂
I think they should have had the Queen throw the first pitch!
Loved the commentary, lol.
Was this the famous ballgame where Enrico Palazzo saved her life
I understand you are not supposed to shake the Queens hand, but it really is an American thing. This is awesome!
You are allowed to shake her hand but you must wait until she extends her hand for a handshake. You're not supposed to touch her hand unless she first extends her hand to you. Touching the Queen anywhere else is a huge no-no. Michelle Obama made a huge faux-paz and she wrapped her arm around the Queen, forcing the Queen to reciprocate with a hug back. The American media made out that it was the Queen who initiated the hug, it wasn't, it was Michelle. As a Brit, I will say I cringed so much at that. The Queen is just an ordinary women yet she is our figurehead. Putting hands on our Queen is the same as putting hands on all of us. I know we Brit's are a little weird at times, but it is our traditions. Speaking during our National Anthem is also a huge no-no. Barrack Obama obviously wasn't told this though and proceeded to speak through our national anthem. The Queen had to tell him to wait. I wonder if our Queen will ever visit your lovely country again. Much love from the UK 💜
@@clairemcfadyen1036 I'm not a Brit but I cringed too
If you look clearly she didn’t shake their hands actually
@@clairemcfadyen1036 Ex Australian PM Paul Keating placed his hand upon her back and was dubbed "The Lizard of Oz" by the British media.
The polite thing to do with any woman is to wait until she extends her hand.

I'd like to think that some fan of the Naked Gun wanted the Queen to meet Reggie Jackson.
The Expos I believe were at team during this time as well.

Because this was a royal visit to the United States, and Baltimore was the closest team to Washington DC at the time.

It’s probably true. HRH Prince Philip first attended an American school in Paris and was probably exposed to it there.

I miss this old girl. I’m an American through and through, but I liked the Queen. She just came off as a truly majestic woman but who also had fun with it - most of us have heard that she loved her Nintendo Wii and was apparently pretty good at Wii Bowling, or the time that she insisted on driving around a Prince (or perhaps even King) from Saudi Arabia because women aren’t allowed to drive in most Muslim nations. There’s also pictures of her shooting automatic weapons while out visiting troops, and many more pretty cool and fun stories.
Her son King Charles is a boring guy. Not trying to insult my UK and Commonwealth cousins, but you know it’s true. He doesn’t have the mischievous personality that his mom had in abundance.
And we can’t forget that she served her nation in WWII as well, serving as an automobile mechanic in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. While her father the King wouldn’t let her go into any combat zones he also wouldn’t allow her to be given a rank she didn’t deserve because she was a Royal. She worked as a driver and a mechanic as a Second Subaltern and was eventually promoted to the rank of Junior Commander. Yes, that old gal knew how to change oil, distributor caps, spark plugs and tune an engine. I think that’s pretty cool.
Rest well, Queen Elizabeth. And as always - LET’S GO O’s!
‘How about that queen.’
At 4:30 the commentators discuss the removal of hats, and one says "it's not the American way". That statement is not true. It is a universal custom that men remove their hats when meeting a lady, as it is for a seated gentleman to stand when being introduced to a lady who is standing. Even if the Queen wasn't there, it would be basic good manners for the players to take their caps off when meeting the First Lady. Parents in the USA used to teach this to their children, but the exercise of good manners has been diminishing. Just look around and notice the number of men keeping on their head-wear in some of those televised megachurch services, during the playing of the national anthem, in restaurants, even students keeping baseball caps on while being taught in the schoolroom. Fortunately there are still a few men & women who remember some of these tenets of civility and are passing them on to the next generation.
Yes and I remember being taught never to extend your hand to a Lady. If she wants to shake your had let her make the decision.
You speak of these horrors as things of the past. Approximately 1 in 3 women 18 years of age or older experience domestic violence. Annually, domestic violence is responsible for over 1,500 deaths in the United States. One can only imagine the world-wide total number.
[Source: Domestic Violence - Huecker & Smock: USA National Library of Medicine - National Institute of Health:
@@daveeriksson I am a woman and ai do not like men extending their hand to me. I don’t always want to be touched. It’s one thing that Covid has done I no longer have to shake hands when I don’t want to.
Thank you! I had the exact same feeling. And the players and coaches aren't "bowing" or "scraping" to anyone or anything-- Every person greeted her exactly as they chose to. The Queen actually prefers less formal greetings.
What an ignorant thing for this TV host to say.
"You'll notice most of the players are keeping their hats on ... I kinda like it, I think it's appropriate for them to be polite but a lot of bowing and scraping before royalty is simply not the American way"

What did the commentator mean when he said, "She's not wearing a hat, she learned her lesson yesterday?"
The day earlier she gave a speech at the white house and the podium was too tall (they didnt provide anything for her to stand on), so all you could see was her hat as she was delivering her speech. The media made such a big fuss about it.
