"Sixty years ago Winston Churchill coined the term 'special relationship' to describe the close collaboration between the United Kingdom and United States forces which was instrumental in freeing Europe from tyranny. Despite occasional criticism of the term, I believe it admirably describes our friendship. Like all special friends we can talk frankly and we can disagree from time to time. Even sometimes fall out over a particular issue. But the depth and breadth of our partnership means there is always so much that we are doing together at all levels that disputes can be quickly overcome and forgiven."

"Through the last century and into our own Americans have appreciated the friendship of your people. We are grateful for your personal commitment across five decades to the health and vitality of the alliance between our nations. Of course things didn't start out too well (laughter).Yet even in America's founding our nations shared a basic belief in human liberty."

    STORYLINE:
US President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush were guests of honour at a white-tie state dinner at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday night, at the end of the first day of their state visit to Britain.
Prime Minister Tony Blair also attended, along with a host of dignitaries.
The banquet took place in the impressive surroundings of the the Palace in room with cathedral ceilings.
Oversized paintings and tapestries covered the walls and the deep red carpet matched roses that
overflowed from tables set with china, flatware and glasses dating to the time of King George IV in the early 1800s.
The Queen gave a short speech welcoming guests, before the meal began.
"You led the response to an unprovoked terrorist attack, which was on a scale never seen before," the queen said in toasting Bush. "Our two countries stand firm in their determination to defeat terrorism."
In a return toast, Bush said the United States and Britain had a long history of fighting together in defense of common values and "once again we're acting to secure the peace of the world."
Meanwhile, anti-war protesters made preparations for huge demonstrations against Bush's 3 1/2-day state visit.
Small protests took place across London on Wednesday. Demonstrators were often outnumbered by police, reporters, tourists and camera crews.
But as darkness fell, police scuffled with some of the several hundred protesters who assembled outside Buckingham Palace.

Garlicjr Made , yes through her mother Elizabeth Bowes Lyon. 11th cousins once removed. The Bush Family has no relation to Royal Blood. The Bowes Lyons were commoners. Still it amazes me how these two distinctly different people are related.

Yes George Bush is a distant cousin to the Queen 👑 Prince Charles has openly mentioned that his genealogy shows that he is a Decendant of VLAD the Impaler Transylvania the Romanian 🇷🇴 Prince that defended Christondom against the Ottoman Empire 🇹🇷 Vlad the Impaler was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Horror Novel DRACULA 🧛‍♂️🦇⚰️

This kinda tells me that in reality America and Britain will actually never get along with each other, but they are just partners because of the "we're in this together" notion, because you can never know what tyrannical regime will emerge in Europe again (let's take Russia for instance) and go on a rage. They find a common ground to agree on something, like fighting the common enemy.

Why does he? I'm British, and I thought Bush was refreshingly 'normal 'with the Queen which is the best way to be. Everyone normally goes into statue, robot mode and it's cringe. George doesn't take himself too seriously, much like the Brits!

USA and England are ethnically brothers born from a mother, geographically distantly situated. From each and every house of England, is a man departed to un unknown land to build the USA, long ago; they fought of course for the claim of property. It's yes seen in small scale in every family. They can't be separated.
