The Falklands war nearly over, I was at sea 1000 s of miles from home, a fine President, and decent man.
Yep our president Reagan was a remarkable man, unlike Margaret Tatcher who stoled the Malvinas from Argentina.

If you think the Falklands should be forcibly returned to Argentina, then understand just what it is you are advocating: _ignoring_ the will of the people, and imposing on them a form of government they don't want.
Should Britain have taken the Falklands in the first place? Maybe people can have a debate about that. But at a certain point, rational people just learn to accept a fait accompi. And after almost two full centuries, I think it is more than past time. Especially in the case of a tiny cluster of islands and a population of less than four-thousand (who are, again, _not_ ethnically Argentine), and which Argentina had made no serious efforts to colonize before the British started actively adminstering the islands in 1833.
What ever you say, but if Hawaii is American why shouldn’t the Malvinas be Argentine? You got your times wrong, the French were there too, called them the Malouines. The Falklanders did everything and got everything from Argentina before the conflict. War sucks!

It's interesting to see the relationship the Queen has with the Reagans. Odd how when inspecting the guard, Prince Philip escorted the President instead of the Queen. And also how the Queen walked with Nancy in front. Today you would always see the Queen with whatever President is visiting.

Prince Philip always escorted Heads of State as Consort to The Queen. Since he retired and now, sadly, died, either another male member of the Royal Family or a very senior member of the Royal Household does it.

It's amazing how TV can get things so wrong. In an event where the vast majority of the 'action' is happening on the lawn, with the soldiers, they keep a tight but blurry, zoomed focus on people who are standing still for much of the time. Sure, there are a couple of Heads of State in that zoomed shot, but with such a tight angle you don't really get a proper sense of what they are seeing or what they are reacting to. It's a bit like someone giving a speech and the camera being zoomed in on the glass of water next to them on the podium. A better balance of close-ups and longer shots would have made for a much more interesting historical record. Yes, zoom in on the President placing his hand over his heart as the anthem starts, but pull out again to show the band and the troops standing to attention to flesh out the story. The BBC pulls similar stunts with the NYE fireworks coverage occasionally, although seem to have become better in more recent years. I recall years when way too many shots of the crowds 'reacting' got cut it. 'Reacting,' is probably too strong a word as generally the shots involved people standing motionless gazing into the sky, or, more accurately gazing into their phones held up to the sky. All the while there are £000's of choreographed fireworks exploding all around them, safely out of frame. We all know what a gawping crowd looks like and if polled, I reckon about 99.9% of those wouldn't list 'shots of the crowd' in their list of things they wanted the camera to capture during a 10 minute elaborate one-of-a-kind fireworks display. You sometimes wonder what's going through the director's mind when they are looking at a scene and think 'Nope, I'll ignore the action and stick with a shot of something motionless instead'.

Notice that Nancy Reagan is dressed a lot like the Queen and she walks beside the Queen like a queen herself while President Reagan is back there with Prince Philip. And Charles is pulling up the rear looking around like he forgot where he parked his car. Draw your own conclusions. Am I the only one who sees these ceremonies as nothing but posturing like two animals do to determine dominance? Exactly what are they looking for when the walk along the troops inspecting them? I think I would tell them that I don't need to do this because I can see them good enough where I am already standing. I just find it kind of weird when they play "Star Spangled Banner" when a President of u.S meets with England's Queen because you know, the star spangled banner was created during the War of 1812 or Era of Good feelings and certain elements of the song ate based on that war between the British and the United States.

I find it funny how our bands play other countries with the 'oomph' they would play it with themsleves but when state visits happen in the US the bands play the foreign anthems very monotone and then blast out star spangled banner

You know, if President Reagan had a sense of humor, he could've stopped in front of a random British soldier and pretended to find something wrong with his uniform or weapon, haha. Ronald Reagan was the head of State as was the Queen, This was an informal review. For the Duke and the Prince of Wales to be in uniform when Reagan was not would be an insult to America. If you noticed they did not play God Save the Queen becasue it would have not been approptiate and insulting to the President and the American Public, becasue this was not an official visit. The Queen was being gracious, by allowing her husband the honour of inspecting the troops, who were given the honour and privilege of having fixed bayonets, which is a very great honour to the president and the people of America.
HMtQ doesn't inspect troops when welcoming a visiting head of state. She defers as a courtesy. She would never accompany anyone to inspect troops. That would infer she is not the highest ranking person there. Which she is, always. There isn't a dignitary on earth that is higher in status than HMtQ.
