I remember how secure I felt as a young person when Reagan was president. He knew how to delegate to others. And he had such a wonderful sense of humor. I found that having a sense of humor has helped me stay alive.

President Reagan could make friends with anyone, like him or not he was great at doing that, and so some of his policies show his friendly efforts. Miss him.
It's always an immense honor to have another nation play our national anthem. In this case, hearing it from the UK, it's really special.
(After 9/11, our American anthem was played at Buckingham Palace. I cry every time I watch the footage.)

A United States President who knew how to respect the Flag of the United States ... standing at attention with right hand over his heart while our National Anthem was being played. Proud to say he was my Commander In Chief while I served in the United States Marines.

The Star Spangled Banner was written under fire from the British Navy. Always makes me smile to hear the British military bands play it.
The lyrics were written by Francis Scott Key , the tune already existed and was an English drinking song called "Sons of Anacreon"

I was not a fan of Ronald Reagan's presidency, yet I know when the First Lady and he were representing us anywhere abroad, they did so with professionalism and dignity. They did not embarrass. I cannot write that about the current regime.

I get quite a kick out of watching the Brits play the Star Spangled Banner. A song written to commemorate the bombardment of Fort McHenry by British ships of the Royal Navy in Baltimore Harbor during the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. The author, Francis Scott Key, was inspired by the large American flag, with 15 stars and 15 stripes, known as the Star-Spangled Banner, flying triumphantly above the fort during the American victory.

The added irony is that the tune to those words that became the American Anthem was actually a Royal Navy drinking song ....
